Hello everybody,
I have a rooted ASUS Zenfone 5 (A501CG), Android 5.0 Lollipop. After my last upgrade (OTA, by the way) I had to perform a factory reset for personal reasons. Since then, I cannot input my APN settings manually. I get the following message: "APN settings are not available for this user". Googling the internetz and searching through these very forums came to no avail. I tried a new factory reset; then, I recursively changed ownership and permissions for /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony (acording to a thread at StackExchange, these files should belong to user radio and group radio, with chmod of at least 660). I also chow'd/chmodded /config/telephony, just in case... Nothing has worked and I still get the same message, rendering my 3G/HSPA+ services unreachable.
I hope somebody has a solution for this!
Thanks in advance!
update: I tried to set my preferred APN manually using ADB, as per a tutorial posted to an Android.StackExchange Q&A called "How do I add an APN via ADB" (sorry, cannot post links yet ). My APN appears in the config as expected, but my data connection still doesn't work, and the same message appears when I try to open the APN settings menu.
another update
I have posted a question at Android.StackExchange. I tried every single procedure as suggested there, without positive results. So far, I have tried the following:
Factory reset
Changing permissions and ownership of telephony-related files
Adding preferred APN settings via ADB
Repeatedly rebooting the device with mobile data turned off and wifi turned on
I couldn't still get telephony files from CM12.1 into my Lollipop device (I don't know how unsafe it is and did not figure out how to install into VirtualBox and transfer the files afterwards).
This is a last and desperate bump to this thread, as there has been a month without access to mobile data and neither solution as proposed have worked so far.
Thanks for your attention!
solution!
sorry if I am necro-bumping this thread, but this time I have the best of reasons:
The latest stock ASUS update (v. 3.24.40.78) solves the problem.
I had to unroot my phone, apply both 5.3.3.3 and 5.2.2.2 downgrades (in this order), then I applied a FOTA upgrade (97Mb download, received and applied automatically). Then I could install the latest version (downloaded from ASUS website; uploaded via USB to phone's internal storage; unplugged USB and then the update could be applied automatically). APNs are available by default, I did not even have to input my APNs manually (as I had to do in prior versions).
Hope it helps anybody else facing the same issue!

Hello everyone and hope to find a solution to this problem that I caused myself.
A couple of days ago I came to buy a mobile for eBay, with very good features but that only brought two languages English and Japanese, after much research weno to rotearlo, I got you can rotear and is very easy, the question was to use a root desinstador to remove applications in Japanese, that is the question I deleted such that a Mobil has been almost useless, it lights have wifi but no network are not phone applications or contact, it says nothing about the SIM requests and configuration pin or setin gives many fs if it enters network.
Theirs would reinstall the official ROM but I can not find it, if I try to update it does not detect wifi Trough docomo network, tb I watched the efs folder and is not, and can not think of more, one thing in the middle of it desinstaciones I made a backup with titanium backup but not because reason gives me error and not installed, when I made this copy option worked even though I had uninstalled call phone icons and the calendar.
Another thing is that now I have the baseband because I don not known or something.
If you also have looked but I see nothing, I found and downloaded this F02E_F0001_V16R46A.tar.gz
I think it's the original rom unzipped weighs 900mg but remains in extension. tar and not as flasearla.
In conclusion let a disaster, so I do not know what to do with it, I may have a solution say hello.
You need to reset the phone.
Go to settings -> Backup&reset -> Factory data reset.
Note that Backup&reset is located in settings under "Personal" -> "more".

I have same problem. And i have old source code of ROM in tar.gz file.
If someone know how to make it or whrere to find restoring image of original ROM, please help.
For some reason I was unable to find this anywhere on the internet but managed to fix it myself, so I'm writing here to document it.
I have a T-Mobile LG G3 (model LG-D851) and after rooting, something happened that made me no longer able to add APNs. On top of that, there were no APNs registered on the phone, so I was unable to access any form of mobile data, although telephone worked. T-Mobile's technical support wasn't able to find the solution either. (In retrospect, using Titanium Backup to restore telephony data (messages etc.) likely corrupted my APN database).
Basically what was happening was in Settings -> Networks -> Tethering & Networks -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names, it said "No APNs", and selecting menu -> New APN did nothing; no menu appeared or anything. Basically I didn't have T-Mobile's LTE APN registered and I couldn't re-add it.
I tried a lot of things to fix it, but the solution was actually very easy (requires root): in the root directory, go to /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/ and notice the "telephony.db" file. This is an SQLite database that has the APN data in it, but in my case it was corrupted. I simply renamed the file, then rebooted my phone (actually, the phone crashed ) and voila! LTE was working good as new on restart. The system detected the file was missing and created a new one with default settings; that is, with T-Mobile's APN already inside. "Add APN" also works now.
Maybe someday this will help someone else in my situation. Basically, be careful with Titanium Backup, haha.
hello,
I couldn't find any other forum to discuss about this version of Huawei mobile phone. I really need help since the last legitimate EMU update ruined the whole system and now my new mobile phone that I have never had a chance to use it is like a trash device... I hope someone here can help me to recover it since i tried all ways I found on internet.
I bought this mobile from China and bring it to Europe. Since I wanted to remove some chinese default software (that wasn't basic software but really annoying), I used an app and rooted the mobile phone. so I removed some of chinese stuff and installed some of good software. Everything worked fine and I tested skype and I had high resolution picture with 8 Mega pixel camera. I tested all its functionality and it was really good...
I noticed that there is a new legitimate update for this OS, since I still didn't have any sd memory, I couldn't have a backup of this old system and this was a big mistake...
anyway... I let it do the legitimate update for EMU... but immediately after reboot, I noticed that Camera and bluetooth are out of functions... so I first thought the problem is with bluetooth configuration but I was wrong since the internal memory was read only and no longer available.
I formatted the internal memory via computer (the part which was available) but no luck... I bought a sd card and changed the storage from internal to external but this didn't help to function bluetooth and camera...
I had a back up from /system/apps and then removed manually the bluetooth.apk and also its odex file. then restarted the system, clear dev cache and tried to install bluetooth.apk again. but I received error message and couldnt' do that. so again I copied those file back to its location.
So bluetooth turns on now, can send signal but for receiving or sending file, it fails, It can also pairs with other device.. So I thought it should be something related to permissions. I again checked the bluetooth permissioin on /etc/permissions/platform.xml and notice they are ok.
I changed the permission of storage and added the external storage to the list and added group storage_rw.
but this also didn't solve the problem with camera and bluetooth.
several times reset to factory mode didn't solve the problem...
I tried to hack the bootloader but I could not unlock it... I sent all information to [email protected] and asked them to send me bootloader password and provide them with all detail information about the device and accepted that the device is out of warrant but I received no response...
I installed "safe system remover apps" and after having backup of Gallery2.apk, I uninstalled it (it is related to camera and all gallery information)... but with no luck I could install it again...
So, I am really hopeless now since I don't know whatelse I can to do... the system doesn't functioning and I need to load on it the custom ROM but the device only can go to fastboot and cannot load the recovery mode anymore and factory reset from the UI is only reset the mobile to fastboot without doing anything else.
I tried to run the factorymode.sh from the device but I receive error messages to access some files such as bluetooth parameters/power
I couldn't myself find this file on the directory that it looks for.
I would really appreciate it if you can tell me any way that I can unlock the bootloader from the device (because outside of the device I tried different applications but with no luck...)
I have a cutom ROM for G630-U20 (not exact version for this device but almost similar) and if I can have a bootloader password I can try this one or any other customized ROM.
I would appreciate any way that you can show me to solve the problem.... either by changing permissions to solve this problem.
Thank you.
Hey,
today I needed to turn off my phone to swap battery. On turning it back on, my Google account wasn't there anymore, a notification said "due to changes to your account you have to sign in again". But signing it just won't do it. It doesn't fail, I come to the accepting terms and conditions, but when accepting the app just closes, the account isn't created so it seems that whatever app is responsible for that just crashes for no reason without any notification. The strange things: in the process I can see only the arrow in the bottom right, not the words "next" or "accept" (at the last page), only when I tap on them I can see them. And I had no accounts.db under /data/system/users/0. Now I have that file via TB restore. And I now see, after reflashing my ROM (by wiping /system, cache and dalvik-cache in TWRP and flashing the ROM) that I also have under /data a system_ce (with accounts_ce.db) and system_de (with accounts_de.db and accounts_de.db-journal), but I don't know if I had them before the TB restore or the ROM reflashing (having english (US) and german (germany) as system languages).
No solution form anywhere else was helpful. I froze AdAway with TB, deleted /system/etc/hosts, deleted data from PlayStore and PlayServices with multiple reboots and the mentioned reflashing, nothing seems to help.
I'm running Emotion ROM based on CM 14.1 on my Note 4 N910F with latest modem and bootloader I can find. Since I don't know how far that could be ROM or CM related, I'm posting that problem here. I have absolutely no problems logging in with my account on my desktop PC via browser, even logging in on google.com from chrome on the phone is no problem. But filling in the infomation either initiated over system settings -> accounts or by opening PlayStore, I pass everything but the account is not under the accounts section and PlayStore would just open again with the login page.
Anyone any idea how to fix it? Here is a logfile of me trying to log in.
UPDATE: Just did a TWRP restore. Did not help! Going to ask Google meanwhile since it might not be a problem with my device...at least if I can find out where to do so.
PS: just looked into my account settings, it seems to recognize that I log in to my device, but that's it. Disconnectiong the device from there and trying again also doesn't work.
Hi,
I have a problem with my Xiaomi Mi5 phone and a new sim card.
LineageOS version: 14.1-20171205-NIGHTLY-gemini
With the new sim card I can only call and text, but there is no data - I cannot connect to the internet (only wifi). The sim card works in other handsets.
I called the provider and we tried to manually set the Access Point Name (APN), but we failed.
In the APNs settings I see the following message: "Access Point Name setting are not available for this user".
When I try to edit access point (3 dots and +) and try to save the new settings, it also fails - there is no profile/access point name.
I already did the following:
- factory reset
- updated TWRP
- updated my firmware to the latest Dev version
- flashed the latest LOS built again (I had the latest update before)
- flashed the previous LOS built
Nothing helped.
I decided to root my phone and follow this quide: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/117125/how-do-i-add-an-apn-via-adb
When I try to get the list of carriers I see the following error:
Error while accessing provider:telephony
java.lang.SecurityException: No permission to write APN settings

Is there any solution to my problem?
Please not that it's the first time I rooted my phone, so I count on your understanding
I really feel like I am out of options.
Thanks
I just flashed the latest MIUI 9 global stable version and it's the same. Still no data, still cannot add/save APN
I feel hopeless.
