Working Roms List? - Sprint HTC One (M9)

So the M9 in all its glory has been out a bit now, but as I am rocking the sprint M9, many roms aren't actually showing if they support our phone. I am still curious as to why certain roms cause data issues similar to the dead data we had in 5.0.2. I use Viper 3.5 and on occasion I experience this bug. In badboyz, it never seems to happen. I am just wondering if anyone's tested any rom/kernel combinations that do not cause problems. I am about at wits end with the phone and ready to jump ship to the nexus 5 2015 if it has the 620 SoC.

that's because our ROM is based on the Official Sprint RUU, not International...
lol, if you're gonna use a International ROM that added Sprint support, u can expect issues...it's not the phone itself.

No, I am well aware of that. I think we all get that feel to want to try new ROM's every now and then. Badboyz is the only reliable sprint rom/ONLY sprint rom we have atm. I think I just miss all the AOSP options I had with the M8. Viper states it has the base for the M9, but I see more often than not, the dead data issue we had a couple months back with it, despite having sprint functionality.

I retract my previous statement , I thought I read some where people were converting over to international WWE firmware on USA carriers. Thanks for clearing that up.

Rom with least maintenance?

I was just at my folks' house for the holiday weekend and realized that my dad has been using my old Sprint Evo 3D. My job took my to Shanghai last summer for ten months, so I picked up a GNex and left my Evo in a box at my parents' house when I left the country. I was surprised to see my dad using it, and I noticed it's running a very old version of cyanogenmod. I'm sure that thing is pretty buggy in terms of software compatibility by now, so I want to get him on something a little more current and stable.
He is not tech savvy at all, so simpler is better. I've been exclusively on Nexus devices for over a year now, so I'm pretty out of the loop in terms of what is happening with Sense and the rom options available for this phone. Should I just return him to stock and make sure he has all the OTA updates? Or is there another option that anyone can recommend? Ideally, whatever I put on there should require as little maintenance/upkeep as possible. Thanks for your suggestions.

Hi,
It only depends on what your dad is going to prefer.
I think is now ok with cyanogenmod look so you can give a try to Johnylist roms where almost everything is working on last android version, but needs to be often updated
If you are looking for a stable rom with everything that works, including 3d then for me, best sense roms are actually yoda's or coolexe's ones.
I think a sense 3.6 based rom is the better choice for your dad.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll read through some of these threads and see what looks best for him. Do Johnylist roms have integrated OTA updates, or would the updates need to be downloaded and flashed in recovery?

I'm running Dirty Unicorns with 4.2.2 and haven't had a single issue. That being said, if someone who isn't tech savvy is taking over my phone, I'm putting it to a stock (rooted obviously) rom. Remove any stock apps that aren't necessary and go with it. It's going to be the most stable and trustworthy. Even the best ROMs like CM and such have the occasional hiccup that could render the device useless in the hands of someone without the know how to get it going again.

Sense 5.5

Is it only the international One that's getting the 5.5 update right now?
Or is the AT&T variant included in the current rollouts? Cause I haven't received it yet.
thanks

The current rollout is only for the INTL version. I wouldn't be surprised if ATT doesn't give you Sense 5.5, since they just updated to 4.3 with Sense 5 not terribly long ago. I'd guess IF they update to Sense 5.5, it won't be until after the MAX has been out for a little while. They have to have some incentive to get people to buy it...

gotcha...I had an htc one a while back and got rid of it, and I regretted it...so I have another now and have just been running it stock and its been doing everything I need it to.
I guess I will just have to root and run a sense rom and gain the 5.5 benefits.

I wouldn't root just for 5.5 unless there's something really specific you're wanting. BUT, I say root that sucker since you've had one before and you're used to it. It will open up a whole new world of One possibilities. And while s off is available I would definitely take advantage of it if you ever think you might want to root or tinker with roms and kernels.
I realize rooting and unlocking/s-off isn't for everyone, but if you're inclined to open up the doors to custom software, the development on this phone is UNBELIEVABLE, if you're watching the dev forums in this section I know it's not a lot of activity, but that's because once unlocked all the development in the regular HTC One section can be used.
As a sidenote: My phone and ATT network like the new firmware that was rolled out to the international version. I'm getting service inside the building where it was a dead zone before, although it's not a very strong signal, and my LTE speeds went up a lot, both upload and download. Just in case you do root it and you're wondering about that.

Yes my other one was rooted, soff, Ll that. I know the procedure.
What rom or ruu did you flash to get the new radio and firmware.
Also I have hboot 1.55....is it s-off able?

I thought the same about rooting but since I've always rooted my past android devices, I did. I have such a better experience rooted (using TB, Greenify + framework modules).
What makes me think to update sense 5 to 5.5, is if I have to delete everything like last time (RUU method) I might skip sense update.

ril = radio interface layer. Its specific to each device/carrier. Without the proper ril (kernel level), no data. CM and most aosp use their own cooked up versions, which is why data is never the same on aosp builds. The source for rils is rarely released. Stock based roms will already have the proper ril files, unless its a port, but then they just patch it with the correct one. Stock rils won't work with aosp (incase you were about to ask)...

I've tried it myself and it works. RIL is Radio Interface Layer and is the communication link between ROM and radio. Like drivers for peripherals. Matching ril's can mean better signal as well as battery life. Bad ril's or ones that don't get set or initiated can prevent data.
I was told clearing cache gives the ril's time to start. They were losing data after every reboot. Liquid Smooth guys are hard at work on it. [emoji6]

Initially he did exactly that. Then a one of the mods deleted half a dozen posts. Take a look at the mods post in the other thread.
Since the other poster moved on, it's probably best anyway. That way he can update the build dates.
ok, so my brother has a flakey 4g lte. I tried to refresh his phone to stock and he still seems to have some issues.
I would like to throw a custom build on there and I think this would be a great one. He has never been rooted, has taken all the latest OTAs, etc and is S-ON. So... what the best S-OFF to use for the latest firmware one? I am guessing rumrunner? Then from there, TWRP recovery I see is required, but it also says use the new partition layout. Is that the F2FS?
Also, does this rom come with the easy CM updater? Or are they all manual for now?
Thanks.

Is the bootloader unlocked? If not, that's what needs to be done prior to getting S-Off.
Rumrunner should work just fine.
You really need to read and follow the instructions in this thread

Captain Throwback has done some amazing work and has significantly extended the useful life of our devices. You'll need to use his TWRP too. Nothing else will work.

New build. Sorry it took a while, I was having trouble getting it to build and I just ended up downloading the sources fresh. I'll be sure to put a new one out before I do though.

I'm curious if anyone is using this (or any) cm12 rom on an Activated htc evo 4g lte sprint phone. I ask because I have a couple of these phones that are not activated I give my kids to play with. My wife has this phone also and I'm thinning about installing this on her phone but wanted to know if I should expect any issues with data or GPS. We travel allot so a concern is the ability to quickly transition from 3g to 4g back to 3g. With a "stock based" rom it has no problem but I noticed with cm11 it had issues keeping data

CM 10..2.1 Fireball and Radio Issue - Upgrade?

I finally got my Incredible 4G LTE to S_off. I flashed recovery to TWRP then tried to flash CM 11 Nightly for Fireball. The flash failed with the message "error updating updater binary in zip file". Fixes suggested included installing a dffferent recovery. I didn't want to do that so installed CM 10.2.1. That worked and it is running but the radio signal indicator was showing a low to no signal. I found this thread that indicates that is cosmetic and that the signal is as strong as before. I haven't noticed any issues with the phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485091
has anyone seen this? Is it fixed in a later version of CM?
Have you tried any other ROMs besides CM?
Not yet. CM on this phone isn't yet 24 hrs old. I probably will live with it at least for the next few days since I am on call this weekend. The phone seems to work just fine otherwise.
Do you have any recommendations for a new ROM ? I am fairly new to Android, and very new to rooting in general. I see the team viper ROMs are discontinued. I also see this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933539
which is a mod of the stock ROM and of course I could in theory restore the stock ROM that I backed up.

While the ViperLTE ROM isn't supported anymore, it still works great. I have been using 2.2.0 (with the Infernal4.1 Kernel) as my daily driver for well over a year. The customizations over stock are great, and the Infernal Kernal adds Swipe2Wake. But, I like HTC Sense. CM is a better choice if you don't particularly care for Sense.
Unfortunately, this phone was the bastard, left-handed, red-headed step-child, thrice removed Verzion castoff that received very little support from Verizon and HTC. The launch was jacked-up, Verizon nixed the HTC Dev unlock for this phone, and root took a long while. As a result, there are not a lot of ROMs or support for it. I am very thankful to the small community that was able to achieve the unlock, s-off and the few ROMs, Kernels and recoveries that we do have.

Yeah, I am learning that as I go. However the phone was free, and I was in a slightly better spot than most cause if I bricked it I could always fall back to my iPhone if I had to. Besides, I learned a lot in the last 10 days. for now at least I will stick with CM and see what happens. It works here around my house, and I am not planning to far this weekend. Next week if I decide to I can try something else.

Good price I bought mine on day of release, and I am still quite happy with it. I have not seen anything out there yet that has a nice small form factor that would be worth changing to. Plus, I still have an unlimited data plan and I'm not inclined to give that up anytime soon. I would be more likely to pick up another "new" Dinc4 at this point if something were to happen to this one.
Well I have built PacRom and LiquidSmooth for this so feel free to give them a go. They both have working data so if you're looking for a stock Google then you should try it if you're S-OFF
Thanks for these 2 new options!!!!!!
