hello people on the forum, I want to purchase a galaxy s5, and probe the SMG900A and that is all that I sold blocked. I was told that I look for the Galaxy S5 SMG900F or 900M, but in my country it is difficult to find these second-hand models.
I offer SMG900T model, and understand a little that is not as blocked as the 900A, but then want to ask that much difference between the 900T vs 900F.
900F roms work on the 900T?
900T is the root recovery and in lollipop 5.1.1?
It is so easy to manipulate as 900F / M?
I do not want is to return to regret as I did with the 900A.
I want to try roms as phoenix 9.0, or sixperience, or really good roms
It can? help me please
From what I understand, the G900T is the same phone as the G900F, but the radios are a bit different. If you live outside the US, you may want to make sure the G900T will work with your carrier. If you do decide to purchase a G900T, make sure it's unlocked from T-Mobile.
That being said, The G900T can work with all G900F roms as far as I know. The bootloader is not locked so you can use a custom recovery, though most of us just use flashfire now. It's pretty easily rooted, and I don't see that changing. I'm currently on rooted stock 5.1.1 (OG6) and it's working wonderfully.

I recently unlocked and rooted my AT&T Galaxy S5 to use on T-Mobile network. However I still have AT&T firmware on the phone, and I'd really like to flash cyanogenmod, or at at the very least stock T-Mobile. Is there any way to do this? Thanks in advance!

Don't know if there is a Cyogenmod available for your model (SM-G900A) but there is an AllianceRom which is built off the T-mobile SM-G900T firmware which will work on the AT&T S5. However, since that version of the S5 has a locked bootloader you will need to use Safestrap Recovery instead of TWRP. You might want to look among the threads in the AT&T S5 area of this forum for more information and maybe ask your question there. I brought my unlocked AT&T S5 over to T-mobile and used it for a few months before getting a T-mobile S5. AT&T stock s5 firmware worked fine. I also did try out AllianceRom on that phone briefly but stick with stock. I don't think rom slots ever got fixed on Safestrap so only the stock rom slot could be used for flashing which is one of the reasons I chose to stick with stock on that phone.

Does anybody have the Canada Bell version of the Alpha? Can you root it?
Also, does anybody know if CanadaGSM.ca is a legitimate website? I see they sell unlocked version of the Bell Alpha.

Hi, I've got a Galaxy Alpha (SM-G850W) from Virgin Mobile. Unfortunately there wasn't any information if my phone would be bricked or not after rooting since the baseband version on chainfire's website is Videotron.
My Phone :
SM-G850W
sltecan
msm8974
KTU84P.G850WVLU1ANI4 (Virgin Mobile Baseband Version)
4.4.4
Description on Chainfire's Web Site:
SM-G850W
sltecan
msm8974
KTU84P.G850WVLU1ANJ4 (Videotron baseband version)
4.4.4
So I had to try and...
I was able to successfully root with Chainfire's CF-Auto-Root!
So yes it's probably rootable
And keep in mind i'm not responsable if you brick your phone.
Big thanks and thumbs-up to Chainfire!

Are you in the U.S.? Any idea where I could get a virgin mobile galaxy alpha?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G850A
No, I'm french canadian.
I'd try swappa or ebay and search for devices from canada.
But i'd recommend you get one with an octacore (from europe i think).
Or you wait for the time being since there's not much developpement for this device cause sammie announced the end of the alpha.

i had one which i sold i a good price can`t root till i had and don`t know about the legitimacy of mention website. but did successfully unlocked mine from phoneunlockingshop.ca
I was tempted to order from Canada GSM even though in the USA because the Canada Bell Unlocked Phones they sell appear to have exact same Bands for Tmobile/Metro PCS in USA.
However I found a Alpha 850M which is an International Exynos with
7 LTE Bands and even has 1700 WCDMA Band ( not listed in the specs) in addition to the others that are specified.
This one definitely has a louder, fuller speaker than the AT&T Qualcomm and faster, so I assume better than
Bell Canada's Qualcomm Alpha.
The Alpha 850M is made for North,South America and the Carribean so should work well for you.
I am not sure Canada GSM is legit but if not we would have heard about it..right?
ALSO - not a Dev so you need to find out if 850M can be rooted etc.
Please how i root sm-g850w version g850wvluiani4
Worked for me...

1) Accept the fact that you may void your warranty, brick your device and are doing this because you're brave
2) Locate SM-G850W file
3) Read instructions from start to finish
4) Read instructions AGAIN !!!
5) Go for it!

Good luck. It worked for my SM-G850W, KK 4.4.4 Canadian Bell :good:
I have not upgraded to Lollipop yet and know only what is stated here...
Worked well for the sm-g850w sltecan from Telus too. Now, there is absolutely nothing else. No recoveries, backups must be made the hard way (building your own flashable .tar file), no custom roms. That's not the ideal phone to customize. It's my ' corporate business ' phone. Rooted, but not customized.
I have a Google Nexus 5 to try anything. My Samsung tablet runs on an unofficial BlissPop rom, which is pretty cool.
It is easy to root, just be sure to use sltecan (snapdragon) and not slte (exynos) files. You' ll soft brick your phone, which is not ideal (been there, done that...)

I know older thread, but Just about to try this out. on my Telus Alpha, however, I'm currently on 5.0.2 (G850WVLU1BOD7) ...will this revert me back to a previous version, then if I update from that point will I loose root? I mainly want root, to get rid of these damn youtube ads lol.
EDIT - nevermind - worked no problems, no issues whatsoever. . If anyone has any ?? let me know
Now I can't seem to understand the whole process of installing xposed. Seems different than it used to be and reading things about deodexing etc etc. Anyone here had success?
i have a Verizon s4 . its unlocked. i am using it in india . i cant find any lollipop firmware without Verizon carrier . how do i upgrade my device to 5.0 ?
I'm guessing you want t update to lolipop but can't because Verizon isn't in India? There's Muniz's rooted stock OF1 in the general section.

thank you for your help i am new to flashing . can you give me link please . i don't know what is munzi or of1 . . can i flash it with Odin ? is it safe like original roms?
are you rooted? If not could you tell me which build number your phone is currently at?
As for Muniz, he's a guy who works on rooting our galaxy s4 =)
the latest build for verizon galaxy s4 ends in OF1. it is Android Lolipop, 5.0.1
his instructions are here.
you'll need root to follow the directions.

from the looks of things , this looks risky . i would rather have a unbricked s4 without lollipop thanks for your help. is it possible to root s4 with iroot ?
It's not really that risky.
best way to root kitkat Verizon galaxy s4 is to use towelroot with NC5 build kernal
Verizon's Galaxy s4 is supposed to be unlocked by default, its just rooting is an option just in case you dont like the look of the s4's lolipop. if you want just complete current stock lolipop build OF1 you can download it here and use ODIN to flash, or just use Samsung kies software.
just so you know if you use the sammobile method or kies method to update to lolipop, you cannot go back down to kitkat. Muniz's method with root allows you to return to kitkat builds if you so desire.
by the way what happens when we flash a rom with carrier to a unlocked phone ?

wait a minute . the link you just send me . . isn't it a rom with Verizon carrier . my phone will remain unlocked if i flash it ?????
You do realize that Verizon phones are supposed to be GSM unlocked by default due to some agreement with FCC for their bands?
From here
Unlocking a Verizon phone
Even though Verizon uses CDMA instead of GSM, most of Big Red’s devices come with an unlocked SIM card slot. According to Verizon, its 4G LTE devices aren’t locked and, if you want to bring one of them to another carrier, there is no code needed to program the phone to play nice with it.
However, even though SIM-equipped Verizon phones can be used on AT&T, T-Mobile, or other GSM carriers, the phone will need to have roaming GSM radios in order to make phone calls and send texts in the United States. While most recent Verizon handsets will work just fine on American GSM bands, your mileage will vary when it comes to LTE support.
Even though Verizon doesn’t have an online unlock request, you can call 1-800-711-8300 and request a SIM unlock.

sorry for my lack of knowledge . i didn't know that . i bought it from my friend . i thought it was locked by verizon and he got it unlocked for Indian sims .
well, then the choice is yours, you can root your phone and use muniz's method to allow you the option of going back to kitkat if you desire, or just use normal methods like samsung kies to update normally, which will lock the bootloader so you can't downgrade.
As for me, I'm going to(try to) sleep. 3 AM here X(

well... if it was one of those international versions of the galaxy s4 like the GT-I9500, then you'd probably brick it by flashing a rom for a carrier version like the SCH-i545. or at the very least softbrick it.
I think unlocking phones is something more hard coded than the rom itself. cause, even if for example you have a att phone unlocked, it still has a att rom, and should be able to update the rom while using an att sim
though in your case, I have a feeling whoever "unlocked" your phone never bothered anything other than change the APN settings to that of whatever Indian carrier you were using.
your phone shoulnt have any problems with flashing an update via kies.
check your build number under settings> more> about phone. if they match any of the PDA here, you're on stock. using network signal info app in the play store can also tell you the build number (build ID) and bootloader.
though if your phone doesn't say "custom" when you boot it from power'ed off, that you're probably on a stock rom with no root
I have a couple of questions. First of all, what custom roms can I get for my S6 edge now that my phone is unlocked? And The model number for my phone is SM-G920-A, can I flash custom roms for T-mobile/Verizon/sprint/bell/international roms? or can I only get roms available for the Galaxy s6 edge. Also, I have been thinking about selling my device on Swappa for a Canadian Nexus 6P. Would having an AT&T unlocked phone be hard to sell on Candian Swappa, or does it not matter since its unlocked. This goes back to the model number, on Swappa I keep seeing things like Unlocked S6 edge (SM-G920-F) (I think that's the international). I currently have an S6 rom on my S6 edge, I was wondering if I got a different rom from a different carrier, would the model number change. Thanks!
hi......unlocking the phone only allow you to use another carrier's sim and will not allow you to use custom rom......you can however.....put custom recovery on it so that you can flash custom rom......there are articles and guides in the Q&A that you can refer to......just be weary that flashing a custom recovery/rooting the phone may/may not trip KNOX........which may/may not void your warranty.....
most of the roms in the android development sections have the model name that the rom are compatible to.......or you could ask within the thread
Trying to decide whether to get G965FD or G9650 to use with T-mobile US. G9650 will have unlockable bootloader for rooting the device, correct? I realize the device is too new and there is no root for Chinese/HK variant yet but it will be there soon if it has unlocked bootloader.
Will flashing T-mobile US CSC give the VoLTE+WiFi calling features while preserving the unlocked bootloader and root?
The only reason I ask is because Exynos S7/S8+ modem download speeds suck on T-mobile US(10Mbps vs 60Mbps on Qualcomm in same location at same time when I tested). And then G9650 may support band71 as G965FD does not for 600MHz LTE on Tmobile.
Bump...
damn, does S9+ SM-G9650 have or not unlocked bootloader ?
would awesome to have 256gb vs low 128gb on S9+ SM-G965F
It has an unlocked bootloader from what others have posted so far. In fact there is first version of TWRP being tested on it looks like. Not sure if we can flash US CSC on it though. Also the modem on it probably is missing band 71 like international Exynos. There won't be many ROMs out for it but at least you can get root, dual SIM and Snapdragon advantage(as mentioned in reviews) I guess....
I think I'm only going to root if there is a way to go back to stock if I want.
I had an LG V20 on Sprint and I rooted it. Which is fine. All worked well and I was able to uninstall LG related crap I did not want. But with that I could not receive Android updates. I wasn't running a custom ROM, I just wanted root to remove LG installed crap.
