I was under the impression that since the R5S has the same model number as the R5 (R8106) and is just a bump in RAM and flash memory, that the recoveries and ROMs would be compatible.
I was wrong, and having flashed TWRP, or the wmjan recovery, they can't boot.
Anyone got the stock recovery img from an r5s so I can have a working recovery again? The stock r5 recovery from oppoforums has the same problem as the custom ones.
If you tell me how I can extract the image from a R5S I can do it for you.
Are you rooted?
I'm rooted. Just got my r5s the other day. Like to get some dev action on this. If you tell me the steps I can do it for you. I'm familiar with ADB.
Guys, seems that the recovery image is the same as for R5. All in all, it seems the whole system image is the same for both devices. This is the recovery from the OTA version 16.
Thanks. No surprise really given it's only RAM and SSD increases. No need for a new ROM.... well except Lollipop
Thank you, that recovery worked, no idea why the oppoforums one did not.
I am now rooted. Now I just need adb drivers for Win10 so I can try my hack from the N3 to get rid of the automounting driver CD
twrp-recovery from Oppo R7(f) (same hardware) works for me.

Just install TWRP for R7 (it works on R5s) and use SuperSU from https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip.
ht tp://community.oppo.com/en/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=40522&extra= this one?
Can someone help me out? Got the R5s, flash via fastboot twrp, flashed worked but would not boot to recovery. Flashed older version same issue won't boot. Flashed stock recovery img from the Oppo fourms and that won't boot either. Any help would be wonderful.

@tdaliviu's img worked. Flashing back to stock and and gonna retry to flash twrp again.
I used this APK that roots it using the stock recovery somehow.

For my R5 I use Oppo Tools which is more handy since you can flash recovery img files also
Code:
https://app.box.com/s/42kibl3ltflzmowk3jlvumcexclasxer
TWRP for R7f worked fine for me.
Now I need to try and find out if that Chinese wmjan person has done a modded stock recovery same as they did for R5 and N3

Please in an adb shell on your device running stock ROM do
cat /proc/oppoVersion/prjVersion
And yes you can yank together prebuilt dt.img but thats not really a solution
for official TWRP since it need to be built all from source then.

So I guess OppoId on the R5 and R5s are the same, strange :/

Yeah ni Brick happens maybe,
AFAIK bootloader upgraded in 5.0.2 big update, so cant tell what happens, and if u used custom ROMs, then u cant live with Stock ROM anymore. Im sure you will restore that backup after trying Stock rom, IMHO wait for twrp backup of FINAL OTA and try that, not make any drastic steps now bcoz the device is year older so we have no Warranty now.. ...

Hey thanks bro, but I restored to 4.4.4 yesterday, got the OTA.... And guess what!!!!
I am running official 5.1 on my phone now... No brick has occurred, everything is smooth.
I have never taken such a serious and risky step before in my life! :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
But I can guarantee you and other fellow XDA members
Don't be afraid to install 5.1 OTA after restoring to stock 4.4.4 from 5.0.2
It actually works, since it Motorola has made it official.
Two things to note though....
The bootloader has been updated
The partition tables have been updated
The recovery is no longer the Kitkat one (as seen in 5.0.2 soaks)
Oh and BTW, if someone wants to get back to 4.4.4 for some reason, then he CAN, by flashing all the firmware files of 4.4.4 EXCEPT the bootloader and the partition. He will also get the OTA and install it fine. Just tried it tomorrow.
Peace!

I have made the backup, ready to be flashed....
Here are two things to do prior to installing
Do a backup of the previous ROM
Wipe Everything
Now install, and as soon as it completes setup, DO A FACTORY RESET (it gave bootloops, so I am requesting).
And another interesting thing, if you change the language to English US, the new Boot animation appears
I will definitely upload by tomorrow...
Thanks for the patience

Initially it was showing the old animation (I had selected English (india) as language) but when I flashed the stock recovery , the animation changed to new one and I checked the bootanimation file is the same but I got the new one.....now when I flashed twrp again bootanimation stays as new one
Thanks for the upload again

If you face any problem and need to improve or add new features in the rom just comment in the Rom's thread or PM that Rom Developer because he is the one who build rom for your device. Here me or anyone can't help you with this. And always use stable build.Don't try too fast to try Recently developing Alpha, beta or nightly rom.It contains too many issues and bugs.but if you want to help developer and you know how to handle your phone in such bad situation you can go for those builds and provide Dev log to develpoer.

Instead of that, Patched the boot.img by magisk and flash it.
Boom You got "systemlessly" root
If you want me to do it for you. Give the boot.img to me! and tell me the system architecture to confirm something.
I also have this phone and have downloaded the above link.
I'm stumped on how to flash it, as it (seemingly) does not have the required files: a *firehose*.mbn (for a flat build) or a content*.xml (for a meta build). I've tried using QFIL v2.0.0.5 and v2.0.1.9, but could not figure out how to flash based on the instructions i read.

Actually I've followed the following Link and successfully rooted some couple of devices:

The approach that the above link uses is KingoRoot as the 1st step. But alas! KingoRoot is unable to succeed on recent N817 ZTEs shipped with B16 update

Can you upload the stock boot.img you used along with the stock recovery.img and TWRP recovery.img?
I will make you a pre rooted boot.img and modified recovery of TWRP- (it's possible the touchscreen wont work in twrp)
but an OTG cable and mouse is supported Alternatively I can make a modified Philz recovery.img?
Let me know if you can do this or link the files on google drive- it should only take a second to complete,

Hi everyone, I've bricked my phone trying to restore it back from being rooted with otg. Now I'm trying to get back to being rooted with otg, and the phone comes on, and keeps restarting in a loop.
I have a Boost Mobile Moto E 2015 LTE (XT1526 I believe) with surnia.
Can anyone tell me what tools, and what I need to do to get it back running rooted with OTG?
Thanks in advance!
Also I never activated with service (just using it to run andriod apps) would it be possible to run this with att or freedom pop, or is boost mobile my only option?
Anyone can help?
Can anyone help me? Still stuck.
Hello @adkpci88 !!
Sorry to say that u corrupt ur eMMC chip while restoreing ur stock , and it's have some chances to get back to alive stage if u r able to boot in bootloader menu then it will be fixed by using any ADB method if u don't then use miFlasher tools for that!!

I don't think it can be helped as you lost your serial number

I don't think he lost his serial number. Just seems like he has hidden it.

That might be the case flashing stock (latest) might help him

Yes, I blacked it out, do I need to upload a pic with the serial? Also, can you tell me how do I flash it to the latest stock?
After flashing the stock, do I need to root it again?

Yes it is required to root device again or you can simply install twrp & wipe system & data and install any ROM of your choice
Currently I'm on a vacation trip (& will be back by 2nd Jan)
Or you can search the forum for fastboot commands for restoring stock ROM
this happened to me as well any luck in finding a solution?
