Hello everyone!
This tool is useful for determining the status of the network and various foreign hosts, tracking and isolating hardware and software problems, and testing, measuring, and managing networks. Want to stay online while you chatting, downloading etc. without your phone going in power safe mode, which will disconnect your network? No problem, just hit <Follow> key and you are set to go!
Features (Full version):
- Ping destination host and take back statistics about it
- ARP scans entire network of every connected network adapter on your device
- Mass Ping entire network or just part of it
- WhoIs domain name or IP address
- Trace is used to determine the route taken by packets across an IPv4 networks
- Following destination host by scheduled check. This also will sound an alarm when/if the connection is lost or found (depend of your settings)
- And of course, everything is customizable

No offense at all, but I didn't knew that someone will ask what is ping and when/why I should use it when I post this treat here in Development and Hacking.
The ping command is useful for determining the status of the network and various foreign hosts, tracking and isolating hardware and software problems, and testing, measuring, and managing networks.
Anyway, feel free to click on next links for more useful information about ping and what it looks like

What a fantastic idea! Thank you very much!
Another good program http://www.cam.com/vxutil_pers.html
@dcat: Nice tools at one place, but I like my programs fast and clean. And when we talking about speed:
v1.5
- added time statistics for minimum, maximum and average results
- separated errors [destination unknown] from [destination unreachable]
- improved speed
cheers
v1.6
- added statistics for sent, received and lost packets
- bug fix

Ok, works with domains but does NOT work with IPs (like 192.168.2.1). Why not? May be a bug? Mort

I can confirm the behavior reported by Mortimer. It can't even ping itself by IP, nor the default gateway. Still good for testing internet connectivity, but this should probably be addressed to make it a more valuable network tool.

It's work as intended. This behavior, can only be USB advanced network functionality problem. To be sure about your IP/gateway address: unplug your USB cable, fire up ping with empty IP/name field. This will return your local IP address: 127.0.0.1, if you are not already connected via WiFi or 3G/CSD. Now, enable WiFi(connected to pc-pc or AP) or 3G/GPRS/CSD connection. Do the same "empty" ping and you will see your WAN/modem assigned IP address. Now type that IP or the one of your gateway in this subnet, and results will be there before you even blink. PingBox can ping itself for sure (much much more), but you have to know your network to start from somewhere...
To use proper USB internet connection, change this in the registry on your PC (not PPC) and reboot:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services]
"AllowLSP"=dword:00000000
To manage AT&T hidden proxy, use these cabs:
- remove
- restore

v1.7
- correctly show up the keyboard on start or focus text fields
- click on result window will export it in PingLog.txt file in install directory
nice app, but doesnt work for me, when i want to enter ip in dialog box app dissmiss...

Do you have connection with internet or local network via WiFi (not USB/active sync)? Try to ping with empty ip/name field - this have to return your current IP address (127.0.0.1[localhost] if not connected). Also check your firewall on machine you are trying to ping or tell me what kind of error code you receive.
There is no option for "nothing happens" After ping, you will see something like this:
- Reply from host (package returned with reply time in ms)
or
- Destination host unreachable (most like firewall or network problem)
or
- Destination host unknown (DNS lookup fail)
Is Barnacle working for our minis?
I've tried every suggestion I came across to no avail
Anyone care to post his configuration for android 2.1?
Ok, I only need barnacle so that I can create an adhoc network, no 3G connection.
Is this possible?

barnacle is working well for our minis.
1. enable data traffic
2. in the barnacle settings menu i set the name "X10 mini" at SSID and i checked WEP enabled and i set my password - 5 letters
3. go back and push start
4. allow superuser access
5. enable wireless from laptop/pc and push many times refresh
6. when the hotspot appear ("X10 mini" in my case) click connect and give the password
7. when the laptop is trying to set the ip (when the small wireless icon near the clock is clicking) push "associate" from the bottom of the display (near start button)
8. you must ensure that your laptop is not using any proxy
i tried with stock rom and kernel and also with your awesome roms and kernels.
And when auto-asociate is cheked wifi hotspot is much faster connectiable and foundable.
NAT must be enablet too.
But hey you say ad-hock which mean you wanna make adhock without 3.party app? Or what?
The NAT from this apps always retrace the 3G net.
What are u up to do NAa

Hi everyone,
I have a little problem that I don't know how to solve, nor diagnose as I lack some knowledge.
I have a linksys E3000 router. I installed one of the many Tomato firmware flavors that has bundled VPN server. I managed to configure the server, generated the keys ca,client etc. Everything seems to work fine from a PC. I also run the latest cyanogenmod nightly on my Hero. I managed to solve or let's say find out how to install the certificates onto the system (add the ca.crt, client.crt, client.key into a .pk12 openssl package). Then I used the default CM configuration assitant to configure the connection and it works, or at least it connects and I can see that the conection was succesful on my router GUI.
Now, the problem is that even if it says connected (a small key at status bar), I can't do anything, no web browsing, no android market connection, nothing that involves traffic. I don't know what is the problem, or how to diagnose, log or something. Any help would be apreciated.
Thank you.
My router vpn server configuration:

I have an mpman mp824 tablet (same as Coby Kyros MID8125), preloaded with Android 2.3.3. I want to use a VPN, but when I go to the Settings - Wireless and Networks screen, there is no VPN setup item as I would expect. I'm not an expert, but I assume this may be because a) the VPN applet is there somewhere, but has not started, or b) it is not there for some reason.
Can anyone help, plus is there a way I can overcome this? I have tried the supplier, but they are not replying
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Try these steps. It will surely help you!
1-Tap the ‘Menu’ button on your smartphone to open the resulting window.
2-Open the ‘Wireless and Network Settings’ window as you enter the new window and tap the concerned icon.
3-You will notice the option for ‘VPN Settings‘ along with many other options depending on the interface of the respective android vpn phone.
4-After tapping the VPN settings option, you will get the choice to connect to one of the many protocols available. From these, choose ‘Add PPTP VPN’.
5-In the next window, you will be asked to set VPN Name, VPN Server, Enable encryption, and DNS search domains, depending on your handheld devices.
6-Provide VPN Name and other information accordingly, click OK to complete the VPN configuration.
7-Navigate back to the VPN listings window and tap the VPN network that you have created just now to establish the connection.
8-The connection will be notified by a key icon in the notification area of the smartphone.
9-To disconnect the VPN, all you need is to move to the location of the connection and tap the current VPN connection.
Hello, fellow Xperia U users. Many of you are probably struggling with ICS bug, which prevents you from connecting to WPA2 secured wifi networks(stuck on authenticating). Some of you may have even changed router protection to less safe WEP. From what I know, currently there is no other solution. However, just a moment ago I found a temporary fix, by an accident
[Sorry if I posted it in wrong section - please move if neccessary]
What you need to do is connect each time using any WiFi Monitor - I tried zANTI, and WiFi Analyzer + WiFi connecter plugin. Here is how to do it:
1. Download and run zANTI(my account is too young to post links - sorry ) or WiFi Analyzer(available in google store)
For zANTI:
2. Tap Zanti logo in top left corner of your screen
3. Tap "Wifi monitor" from menu
4. Choose your network
5. Enter your password, click "Connect", and V'oila
Click to collapse
For WiFi Analyzer:
2. Swipe horizontally until you see a list of networks
3. Choose your network, click "Modify", set a password, accept
4. Connect
5. You should be connected right away
Click to collapse
I have some screenshots, but, again I can't post them normally, becouse my account isn't old enaugh to post external links(imgur), so you can see them in the attachments(those are screenshots for zANTI only, but soon I will upload screenshots for WiFi Analyzer).
It's not very comfortable way, but it works. Might be handy, when you are not an admin of router you want to connect to.
Once connected, stays that way until you disconnect manually.
Enjoy!
