Hi guys
I recently purchased a new gear s and thought i was doing the right thing by purchasing a samsung tab A t550 to run gear manager to get full functionality from the gear as i have a OPO phone. Problem is i cant get the gear to connect to gear manager. Gear manager is not available in the galaxy app store on tablet so i downloaded latest version from this site and installed but just says searching and wont find thd gear.... ive tried different versions and made sure bluetooth on and vusible on both devices etc etc. No joy. Is the tab not supported which seems silly and is there a fix? ? Im in australia too by the way...
Only Samsung phones are support. Sorry, no tab support.

Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone has a galaxy gear working with an S3 yet. I read some stuff about downloading the "Gear Manager" apk file to their phone and the Gear syncs.
Want to buy a Gear for myself but not sure yet?
I want to get a Galaxy S4 with Verizon but I don't know if it will work with Gear S. I have a Gear 2 and plan to get a Gear S as well. Today I went to a Verizon Store and tried to install Gear Manager in a display model Galaxy S4 and couldn't find Galaxy Esentials or Galaxy Apps to download Gear Manager. I asked a rep there and he even tried to download the app in his personal Galaxy S4 with Verizon and nothing. Is it the Gear Manager isn't compatible with the Galaxy S4? Has anyone here been able to pair his S4 with a Gear S or a Gear 2?
Thanks
Mario
IIRC, Galaxy Apps used to be called Samsung Apps. Samsung just rebranded it recently. Launch Samsung Apps app on the phone and you will get updated to Galaxy Apps. The Gear Manager is still there regardless how the store names called. I don't have Verizon phones, so I can't confirm it.
I have a verizon note 3 and a t-mobile Gear S and paired them just fine. It is a bit confusing at first because I couldn't find the gear manager either. I went into Samsung Apps and didn't see it but it then asked me to upgrade. The upgrade ran and than Gear Manager was installed by default on my phone in the Samsung folder under name of Samsung Gear.
Thanks for your replies. Regarding the Verizon Note 3 paired with the T-mobile Gear S, can you use all the functions of the watch. How much do you pay to T-mobile month by month?
Yes, I can use all the functions of the watch. At least all that I tried so far. I pay them $15 a month.

Your Carrier should not matter anything Samsung S3 and up running 4.3+ will work fine. Demo probably did not work because it was in store mode/had a older firmware
I have an old rrrrraaaagedy Verizon Note 2 running a banging 4.4.2 ROM and you know what? The Gear S works with it like a damn dream. I may never need a new Note phone at this pace.
Why would you get an S4 instead of an S5 though ... eeeek.

Agreed. The S Health on the watch will only sync properly with S Health app on S5, Note 4 or Alpha. Older phones don't work. However, I found none of the Samsung phones attractive at all. I'd stick with my Nexus 5 instead

Now trying to pair the gear s by installing samsung gear app in mobile (S4) but mobile is unable to find my gear s. then i tried android wearable app. In android wearable it detects the gear s but for long time unable to sync the data. I also found that bluetooth gets disconnected (either from gear s or S4 that unable to understand). Please help how do i pair my S4 with gear s. DO i have to install any software in gear s?

Not sure what is Cyanogenmod for Gear S. I assume it is full blown Android OS? Gear Manager only works for Tizen based OS running on Gear S. AW only works with AW OS watch.
Hi all,
First post here. I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Edition phone I-9505G and just got the Gear Fit as a gift. I've been doing extensive research to see if the fit would pair with my phone. I am currently running Lollipop and the latest firmware for the Gear Fit (R350XXU0BNG2). I've downloaded the gear fit manager from this thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-fit/general/gear-fit-manager-patched-lollipop-t2965215
I still get an error Gear fit manager has stopped each time the moment I connect properly with my phone via bluetooth. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!
On November 2014 I bought Gear S which i paired with my samsung galaxy s3 neo. Sometimes the smart watch stopped to work and I was able to reactivate the Gear S only after resetting it.
On 23 February after experiencing another arrest of the Gear s I downloaded from Galaxy apps the latest version of gear manager (2.2.14110499). After I have installed the gear manager I wasn’t able to reactivate my gear s although it paired with my galaxy S3 neo. In particular the gear manager is not able to download the additional software and I receive the following message: “Unable to connect to the gear. Connection to the gear is not supported by your mobile device…” Moreover just beneath the above message appear a writing during just some seconds stating: “Download url not available, can’t launchPlugin!”
What is not working? My gear s or the new gear manager?
Can someone help me? Thanks

I'm using Android 4.4.2
Hmmm. Well, in order for the S to be compatible with your Samsung phone, you have to have 4.4+, non-mod touchwiz, and the gear manager (and the supporting apps... Sam Store, IAP, etc).
Is it a custom ROM or stock? If stock, when was your last OTA update?

I think I found fraud. For some days now in the official Samsung website (at least in the Italian site) neo s3 is no longer listed among the smart phones compatible with Gear S. Is this behavior legal? I hope Samsung solves this mess as soon as possible.

Problem solved! I followed the procedure reported in another thread :"Tutorial: Install Gear Manager and connect to Non-Samsung Devices" and now all seems to work perfectly. Fortunately XDA exists. Thanks
Hello everyone,
I finally gave up with a problem that is driving me insane, and decided to seek professional help on this forum!
My wife's father just gave me, as a present, a Samsung Gear Fit.
I was very happy, at least until I discovered that I cannot download Gear Fit Manager on my device (which is a Samsung Galaxy Fame, Android version 4.1.2).
I read some threads within this forum, and found links to a number of APKs that are apparently designed to install the Gear Fit Manager to devices that would normally not support it.
I downloaded some of the APKs on my device and...none of them works!
I can't even open the APKs after the download, my device shows the error message `There is a problem parsing the package`.
So, I am in a situation where my device does not support the Gear Fit Manager, and I can't fix the problem with an APK.
10 karma point for who can help, really frustrated!
Thanks,
Alekos
