Hi guys
Problem: my lumia 800 is dead (not sure its hardware or software problem).
Background: About a month or two ago, there were some battery issues.
e.g 1) sometime battery shows 100% for hours then all of sudden battery saver mode appear and battery zero, or some time battery drain too fast and % decrease gradually.
2) mobile heat up too much when using 3G or playing video files and battery drain.
last week i turned on 3G and battery drained too quickly and display off.
So i thought battery is almost dead
Things I have tried:
1) Tried soft and hard reset with combination keys, but no display
2) went to local repair shop, he said its front panel display issue. (but i dont think so)
3) I tried to connect it to computer with and without display/touch panel, there Qualcom device appeared in Device Manager but i was unable to install drivers.
4) Removed battery, Removed display/touch panel. connect it to computer, there was sound from computer and vibrate on mobile. but device was not turned on.
5) I purchased new battery, placed battery, but now No Qualcom device, but still there is sound on computer and vibrate on phone.but device was not turned on.
Current Scenario: My Lumia 800 just vibrate when i plug in charger or connect it to PC and sound there on PC, but now nothing more at mobile or PC.
Query: Is My lumia Dead ? Software or Hardware ?

HI,
I purchased Touch Dual from UK as SIM FREE unit last year. Couple of days back i checked the HTC web site and saw the WM 6.1 upgrade from HTC available there; So yesterday i downloaded that file i.e. " RUU_Nike_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.1_Radio_NikeMR_1.65.28.25_signed_Ship " and upgrade the device.
At the time of running the RUU the unit battery level was 70% and after the upgrade the battery was almost 55%. So i kept using the device and that was perfect. Anyhow i forgot to recharge the device and next morning i realised that Unit went off somewhere during the night. So i simply attach the charger cable with device but immedately i realised that the usual orange light hasn't turned on and after a while the red colour light shows up instaed of orange. Upon seening this i try to turn on the device and its turned on BUT went into AEROPLANE MODE automatically and stays there. And above all the BATTERY ALWAYS SHOWING THE CHARGE LEVEL IS 0% besides the fact that unit is continiously charging from the last 24 hours....
And if i remove the charger the becomes dead..
Any suggestion would highly appreciated.
This can mean two things:
1. Your battery is broken
2. Your charger doesn't work well (I had this with a blackberry charger I borrowed from someone)
The second is the easiest to check if you charge it with a usb cable instead of the charger you can see if it works or with another charger of course. It switches to airplane mode when the battery level is to low so don't worry about that. The led is red when it really has no battery level at all so also nothing to worry about
Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem is solved ... Now i know that if battery went to ZERO level than one must remove the SIM and charge the unit.... for atleast the initial 10% charge level... after that insert the sim into unit...
Anyway Thanks again
Hi guys,
I'm repasting what I wrote in my previous thread hoping you can have a clearer view of my issue.
My phone has the standard ROM, WP 6.5, nothing changed
I never flushed the phone, never formatted it, etc, everything is legit!
My TG01 has died many months ago and now I'm looking into ways of having it re-activated. I will explain to you my possible theories why it died, so maybe some of you will have an idea how to fix it
- For the first 4-5 months I only used PC USB (synchronization) charging, as I had a UK mains which obviously does not work in Europe. I noticed that the battery indicator was never really accurate, showing me the battery levels very vaguely.
- I often synchronized my Outlook e-mails with my mobile phone, one day my phone died when I chose to synchronize all e-mails. It died to an extent that the battery was completely empty. My PC wouldn't recognize it and it would only start for 5 seconds (the red led lamp would shine) and then die...
I somehow managed to revive it with my normal charger but afterwards it used to overheat quite a lot...
- One day I left it to synchronize again and the battery died on me again (at least that's what I think had happened)... the difference that USB PC charging did not work anymore as well mains charging. I was desperate enough to buy a replacement battery from eBay and I still have the same story. When I connect the phone to the charger I don't even see the diode lighting up anymore.. NOTHING. Any tips?
Could it be that the replacement battery is also so empty that even a mains can't charge it anymore? I heard someone mention something with cutting a wire etc, ... would that help me? IF so.. how do you exactly do that?
Thanks!
Hi guys,
So far no luck in getting updates from you, but I've got an update for myself:
I somehow managed to get the LED diode turn red when I connected it to the computer, which should be indicating the fact that the phone is charging, right? When I try to power it up the device manager recognizes a device called TOSHIBA DL... does this mean my phone is in some sort of emergency state?
The screen lights up a bit as well, but remains black.
yess this means your tg01 is NOT bricked. try take your battery out and put it back in so its totaly switched off then press n hold CAMERA, VOL UP, POWER keys to perform a master reset. if that doesnt work try this,
use the short pin method, put a .tsw in a PRG folder at the root off your sd card and short pins 1 and 3
if not,
download a tg01 rom in a .bin and flashh the .bin via tgdownloader
if you dont know these methods please tell me and i will link and help you.
Hi!
Thanks for your reply. If you could guide me a bit with the pins method, that would be great.
Also, when I plug in the mobile phone to charge now the red light is now flashing, instead of remaining constant, what could that indicate?
Phone never turns on now
hi there, it sounds like your battery has gone flat try leaving it on charge via USB for a few hours see if that will kickstart it and for the pin method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654674
try to charge your battery first as it may just be a flat battery but if not you may need to reflash your rom via the pin method
if there are any problems or you are unsure message me back
tl;dr version - Device screen locked up, then screen went dark. Power button gave no response. Plugged into the PC it is visible and will sync. I get IM vibrations when I get IMs on the PC. Thoughts?
I plan to let the battery drain down (can see the power remaining in the windows app thankfully) and see what happens. I cant shut the device off. Wireless charging pad responds to it resting on it.
Very bizarre.
Good luck. Hope it recovers. Can't wait to hear your results.

Do a soft reset like described here: http://wmpoweruser.com/how-to-soft-reset-the-nokia-lumia-920/
There's no need to wait for the device to drain the battery.
Hey,
I had the same problem, the phone would still receive calls and sms notifications but I was unable to see them as the screen was dark. After a battery drain the phone came back to life, but after this point I started experiencing dropped sms notifications, freezing tiles and overheating.
When I tried to do a reset (from the settings menu), as with other people, the phone bricked I hope yours has a better outcome.
(Mine is currently somewhere with Nokia)
Hello,
so my Lumia 800 has that issue in witch, with more than 90% charge, it simply turns it self off and cannot be
turned on by pressing the power button, I had to plug it to the charger and then it come alive again. Also this
only happens when the phone turns off the screen(auto-lock)
After trying some official roms(wp7.8 8858 RM-801 included) I started trying some things.
One of those was using the phone continuesly, activated WIFI/GPS and changed the screen timeout to 5min,
entered the Nokia Drive(because itdoesn't let the phone dim and out lock). All of this, has you may have guessed,
to increase the discharge of the battery. By doing this I was trying to figure out if the problem was the battery
or some type of glytch in the OS. The result is than the battery is good.
After this I started checking various possibilities and I came across the Battery Saver, apparently this app(or something)
manages the internal processes so that it saves battery. I decided to try and uncheck all options on the battery saver and
it worked... now the phone doesn't turn off on auto-lock. the only thing I noticed yet is that at 32% it turned it self off.
hope this helps :fingers-crossed:
Just like to write my experience here:
Phone:
Nokia Lumia 800, unlocked
Firmware: 1750.0805.8773.12220
Problem symptoms:
Unsually no display
Can not switch ON
Has vibrate feedback while switching on
Will not connect to PC for long (only about 2 Seconds, as HID device)
May respond to charger connect with a vibrate
Does get warm while charging
SOMETIMES will have display, but usually not for long
I noticed:
have display and charging are not related.
Longer charging does not make it more likely to have display
After putting the phone in the fridge for 15 Minutes it starts right away!
Conclusion:
There is a relationship between heat and malfunctioning.
Action taken:
1. I put the phone in the fridge for 30 Minutes
2. Then put it between two milk tetrapacks (cold and closed of course!)
3. Connect it to Zune
4. Did a backup
5. Installed the latest firmware in the hope that it works better
The whole update process takes about 1 hours.
Version after update: 1750.0823.8852.12430
Sobering, the start and display problem is still there. The hope that this was fixed with software did not materialize.
Update:
The last few days the phone was totally dead. No response to nothing. I thought maybe the LCD was bad (I know, stupid, because it should still vibrate) and I brought it with to one of that cell phone heaves were you can buy every single part for every phone produced in the last 15 years.
To find Lumia 800/N900 LCDs were no problem. There were plenty. I changed the LCD (takes me now 2 Minutes) against another, and another - no change. Dead.
Then the dude had an open Lumia 800 (or N900 - they look the same) - I tried my LCD there - no problem. Then we swapped batteries - still my phone stayed bad. At that point the dude talked about bad main board.... but I was running out of time and had to break up. I finally excepted that the phone is bad.
Well, today, 3 days later, I plugged it in to my PC - suddenly LCD came up and it works normally. For now, but I doubt for long. (just had the USB cable disconnected and the battery level dropped from 12% to 6% within a Seconds)
Same, same, but I got workaround

I have the same problems with my L800.
When my batterys are completly empty. The phone is not starting, after plugging it to a charger.
Everytime it runs in a restartloop. Like Buzzzzzzzzzzz ...... buzz ..... Buzzzzzzzz ... buzzz ... and so on.
Workaround:
I let it charge (or loop) for about 1 hour. Then I disconnect the charger. After 2 minutes I start the phone. And as far, as the bootscreen appears I plug it to the charger. (Remark that the battery is still completely empty). Now the charge proceed correctly and everything is fine again and no loops.
I hope I could help. My L800 is on the way to cutomer care.

im having the same issue, is there a solution for this?
I have no positive update. Sometimes the phone works perfectly for a few days, then it's dead for a few days. When I cool it then it charges better and I do get display.
So this morning I went to the Nokia Care center, I charged the phone in the car, and fixed it to an A/C outlet. It worked fine, but when in the shop it was warm again and didn't work (means no display, it had touch feedback). The girl connected it, but seems there was no response. They want $50 just for looking at it - and in case it's the main board - that would be $260 (The Lumia 620 sells for about $200 official price).
I gave up on the Lumia 800 !
If I buy a sparepart there is a chance that still something else is broken. Pity, I love the OS and the form factor.

I didn't touch it for a few month. So yesterday I charged connected it again to the PC. No display. Sometimes it connects, and disconnects to the PC (the PC makes it sounds then, still no display).
When I switched off the PC the phone made a sound - that made me curious!
So I switched on the phone and to my surprise got the low battery logo on the screen. Even though the phone was plugged to the PC all day and got warm too.
Anyway, after a 2nd start button press it booted to WP. I connected immideately back to power and it stayed fully functional most of the time. Battery was about 6% first, and it continued to charge. It's >90% now.
Just now it crashed for no reason and restarted. Sometimes I get a cracky yellowish screen and the system crashed (have to add that my screen is not original).
Now my question: is there any tool that lets me check the hardware ?
