Hi,
I am learning apk modification. I decompiled .apk file using advanced apktool and i recompiled the apk without making any changes. i tried to install in android phone i am getting "PARSE ERROR". before decompile it was working. guys please let me know why i am getting this error. i am searching for solution since 2 weeks.help me guys.

it may be because the apk will not be recompiled properly..what tool you are using to decompile and compile..apk toolkit will work for nice for me..without any problem..

Thank you for ur reply, i am using Advanced+ApkTool+v4.1.0+By+BDFreak, for some of the apk it is working fine, but some of apk while installing after modification i am getting parse error.

thats the problem msiddeeq try to compile with apktoolkit..i mean with older version toolkit..it will surely help u..if any prob pm me

Original problem has been fixed, therefor I'm editing this instead of creating a new thread
So just ignore the 3 first comment
Whenever I compile framework-res after decompiling it (Even if I haven't modified anything) it goes from 8 MB to 5 MB!
And when I try to install it on my phone, its just boot-looping.
I have tried both APK Manager and APK Tool without any luck.
It doesn't help to pull the file again either.

I have the same errors. I think that's a problem of apktool. Try some different tool
You need t change ur framework under home/apktool/framework/1.apk
Replace the 1.apk with untouched stock framework-res.apk renamed to 1.apk....u will be out of trouble then
I use baksmali e smali for decomile/compile

I don't know if someone has created something like this but.I had a kitchen that I was scrapping to start a new one and decided I'd release this.

**In case somebody doesn't understand what this tool does I will explain briefly.
You select a folder with apk files in it and then convert them. To zip files and then you can extract the zips and edit the apk files.

No, I think to decompil only into a zip or into a folder only...
Just a question, I've been using 7zip to open the apk files and haven't had a problem with it from the beginning. How is this different?

It really isn't but it makes it easier then having to install 7zip because this doesn't install so it is easy to remove if needed. And it converts to zip which windows natively supports. So it really is not that different.

It needs to be signed, install the app from the market Zipsigner2! Sign the zip & then install it, hope this helps

I'm wanting to try the new jellybean keyboard from the Note 2 on my S3 and would appreciate if someone would upload the apk for me. After trying the demo out and seeing the number keys locked @ the top, I wanted to try it on my phone but didn't want to download the entire ROM, just to try it. If someone would upload it, I would appreciate it.

the rom is in a tar format so i cant extract it. well i dont know how. if you know or can find out what files you need, i can pull them out of the phone

Thanks, I have the tar downloaded but don't know how to extract it either. Root explorer wont do it. I believe its just the samsungIME.apk, but I'm unsure if there's another that goes with it or not. If you can pull that from your phone, I would appreciate it. Thanks for the help.

i just remembered that that apk was from beans rom and its deodexed. it wont work on a odexed rom.

I figured that out, after opening the apk. I did download the deodexed version from one of the ROM developers and it installs, but force closes instantly. The files are different, in a few aspects but I'm working on some lib files now. Hopefully that will work...........

Ok i guess it was recovery related but now that i have switched to CWM i get the Status 6 error can anyone help with that

I verified that the the build.prop and the updater script are edited properly just not sure why this is still occurring
