That's because you can't overclock

i am using set cpu...and i set cpu frequency to 800, but sometimes i find the cpu frequency 1200...rebooted but still no use...i think task manager is killing set cpu...anyone can help me to stop setcpu from getting killed? or should i use some other app for underclocking?

SetCPU isn't even worth of that US2. Seriously I thought it'd help me save my battery life by setting the clock rate at wanted rate, but it's doing nothing but under clocking the CPU whole time and instead of saving battery it's draining it. I have tried every profile, still. I'd NOT recommend SetCPU to anyone.
I have tried Tegrak too, the free version, not for overclocking, but that thing doesn't even show at status bar, it's hard to find if it's running it not, let alone it's performance. After trying both these I found it better to have nothing installed but to Enable the inbuilt Power Saving feature of the phone.
Regards.
Hi Guys,
I need a real problem solver here.
I'm having some issues with with SetCPU on my newly rooted Motorola Atrix (2.2.2 Froyo). It's an Australian model with Telstra branded firmware.
I recently rooted it using this guide.
My SetCPU profiles are as follows:
>90% - 750 max 200 minimum 90 priority
Screen off - 216 max 200 min 85 priority
>75% 600 max 200 min 80 priority
>50% 500 max 200 min 75 priority
>20% 300 max 200 min 60 priority
The problem?
As my battery decreases, SetCPU does not change to the appropriate profile. The "Scaling" option is also greyed out.
I hope someone can shed some light in this for me.
Thank you in advance.
Edit: My friend has an Atrix which is nearly an exact copy of mine without any issues what so ever. I find this bizarre.
Solved.
For anyone who wants to know how, simply reverse the priorities.
i.e Make it so higher profiles have lower priorities, and lower profiles have higher priorities.
Scale Drop-down button greyed out
Did you also find a solution to your scaling button being unavailable?
I'm running HOME BASE MEGA 3.1 - EXT4 1.3GHZ DEBLURRED with 4.5 UPDATE and I the scale button is greyed out.
Any ideas?

Anyone?
Thanks.

Scaling requires a scaling governor to be compiled into the kernel. I assume you're using faux's kernel in that rom, and I don't think he has any scaling governers in his kernel.
Hi!
Is there an app that can change the CPU governor according to useage? I mean, I'd like to have the governor on "ondemand" setting, while I'm not using the phone (the screen is black), but it would be cool if an app would set the governor to "performance" as soon as the screen lights up. It could be done with Tasker perhaps, but Tasker doesn't want run on my phone, doesn't even want to install...
Is there an app for this? Thanks for the answer!

Such a dumb, I am... Of course SetCPU! I've been using NoFrills for some time, I'm changing that. Thanks!!!
Use Set CPU, go the 2nd page in that and there you can select profiles.
For example suppose your kernel allows you upto 667 MHZ, then you can select in the profile something like :
When in call, max 300 Mhz.....or Screen Off, Max 200 MHz.
in the 3rd page of Set CPU, it also allows you to undervolt, you may try with -50 in the values.

My default profile is 390-1170 MHz with performance scaling, and I've set up a profile for screen off with 390-780 MHz with ondemand scaling. I suppose I can set it to lower frequencies as you suggested.
How does undervolting affect CPU usage? I don't know much about these things
Just a question, i am using the Phenomenal kernel (normal version) on my S3 and has tried to set the CPU speed using "setcpu" app to have the CPU running at 800-400Mhz, but no matter how many times i set or clear the data and reset, the CPU will still go to 1Ghz, is this a default setting by Samsung to have the setting set at least 1Ghz or is due to the Kernel that i am using now?

phenomenal kernel dosent supports OV/UV, that might be the reason. try nstools from market if you get the same result then its the feature of that kernel
Thanks... have tried it and still stay the same... guess its the kernel...
can anyone suggest me what are the profiles u ve kept for good battery backup?
i ve rooted my venue to cm7 based on threads in our xda and facing reduced battery backup now!
i need wat all the profiles and their cpu frequency u ve set in for good performance pls
Try conservative or ondemand and tell...i'm using performance setting and getting 1day battery backup...it also depends on usage as well...internet on will drain battery as well...i got 3 days bacup with my phone with internet off and on performance setting...

Best ways:
Go in Settings > Cynogenmod Settings > Performance > CPU > Select "On Demand" there.
I used this goes 1.5 days on 2G EDGE network

when im at work and dun use phone that time! nw it gives good backup!
thank you!
