First of all thanks go to Rovo89 for his Xposed framework
You must have root access to continue
1. Be sure to make a Nandroid backup
2. Download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
- XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
- xposed-v8*-sdk22-arm64.zip
- xposed-uninstaller-20150831-arm64.zip
3. Put all three files to the internal memory / sd card
4. Flash through recovery xposed-v7*-sdk22-arm64.zip
5. Wipe Dalvik cache
6. After three or four reboots (perhaps even ten times or more, but be patient) you have installed xposed framework and normally install XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
That's it!
Now you can normally install modules for lollipop 5.x.x.
In case you want to uninstall Xposed, then from recovery flash xposed-uninstaller-20150831-arm64.zip.
hi, i install yesterday the Xposed 2 times but at reboot while Optimising Apps, stop the process and continually rebooting. I uninstalled.....you have solved?

I'm sorry but I don't have root and I can't check it out. Maybe the problem is in the ROM which is full of bugs and there is no upgrade. Anyway I'm probably going this weekend to make a root, and install the xposed framework then I will know more. This tutorial is for all lollipop 64 bit and should work.
For now, try before and after flash, wipe dalvik and cache partition.
Especially the dalvik: advance menu-> wipe dalvik cache

Hi NefilEx,
i have tested your procedure and i have received the Xposed installed on my Speed 7!
Sorry but i was more skeptical, but the procedure run.
During the procedure after i have installed not the xposed-v72-sdk22-arm64.zip
but xposed-v73-sdk22-arm64.zip the phone rebooted many times but it followed one strange sequence.....after that it entered unexpectedly in android OS.
So Seems that all is running ....but i'm testing too.
Yes, i see now. It is a new Xposed. I'll have to change the numbers in the name. Thanx
With Xposed framework we will have a lot less problems when we get deodexed rom.

Done
I believe into clever programmers . The Xposed framework is still under development, so you have to expect some hickups. Knowing that I installed Xposed and I like it.
For me it took about 8 reboots while optimizing the programs installed. The whole process took at least 20 minutes and I started to worry. Anyway I kept my patience and now Xposed runs smooth. Anybody trying please be super patient!
To the developers: Most confusing for me are the amount of reboots and the installation time (due to "numerous" reboots). There is space for improving the installation process, especially the optimization... Be sure I'll monitor the development and I appreciate your efforts. Big thanks from a happy user.
Hi to everybody,
now the new version of gravitybox is full of details for our Device.
Look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63233128&postcount=3064
I tried before I read this topic but I give up because I thought something was wrong.
Thank you for the information, I "only" needed 12 reboots to have xposed installed.
Regards.
Hello,
i have a weird problem: After installing xposed-v78-sdk22-arm64.zip, my browser Yandex stopped playing videos (Youtube shows unknown Error, other Sites show black picture). Google Chrome browser plays youtube, but fails to play videos from other sites.
When i use xposed uninstaller, the browsers play all videos normally.
I'm using a Zopo Speed 7 (MTK6753) with a freshly installed Android 5.1 Stockrom 20151113, just flashed xposed-v78-sdk22-arm64.zip and installed XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk. The APK shows framework 78 active in green. No other modules are active.
What might be the problem?
Edit: Ok, i tried installing exposed v73,74,75 via CWM and tested several browsers(Boat Browser, Dolphin Browser, UC Browser), also i tested old version of Google-Play-Services. Always no video. Only Browser which is working normally is Firefox. I'm using this for now..

If/until Fuhu releases source code, I don't think it is very plausible to try to port this tablet to JB.
Nice Job installed fine
now that Deodexing was done ... it gets rid of that pesky "android is upgrading message.

found my fix. i did wipe the cache and dalvik but i was doing that every time. this time i did your rom and started it up with the wifi off and skipped every thing with the google setup then when i got to the desktop i restarted and and cleared the cache and dalvik and then installed the kids stuff. restarted and kept the wifi off and did all the nabi stuff. when i could get to the desktop i started up play store and let it turn on wifi and do its thing and it all worked. then went into kids mode and it said tht their was a user with my email allready so it came up the the sigh up or sigh in screen. i have an account so i sighed in and finished the nabi stuff. then went back to play store and it still is working. hope this helps if anyone else has my problem. hey thanks again for the rom. if it wasn't for you i would have just thrown $200 bucks out the window

I will be starting this ROM from scratch this weekend (hopefully addressing the issues it has), it will not take nearly as long now since I know the steps to do it. I will be building one complete stripped ROM and one complete stock ROM (except without the OTA updater because I think it may conflict with the OTA updater if an update happens because of the De-Odexed apps). I will also be on Christmas break so I will have plenty of time to work on this.
But I am still not able to duplicate your issue with the play store... the only thing force closing on me is the GMail app, maybe you should try installing the gapps on THIS page

That's AWESOME! I'm really looking forward to it. Do you have a way to test if leaving the OTA updater active is acceptable? It would be nice to use the VooDoo OTA RootKeeper app to maintain root and still get OTA updates.

How this update should be installed? Adb?
Edit. Sorry, never mind, this is for N5100 but I have N5100. Waiting for new version for my device.
I am interested in loading this rom on my wife's tablet. I have been flashing rom's on my Motorola Phones for years now and am very comfortable doing so, but a real Novice when it comes to Samsung.
I am on 4.1.2, insecure loader. I have tried both CWM and TWRP recoveries and can use either. I have also used Odin as well.
Question, do I need to wipe data first, and how do I load this rom onto a Samsung Device.
Sorry for the trouble, but I am a fast learner and will be on board soon (I hope)

Since this is an OS upgrade (4.1.2 to 4.2.2) a data wipe is highly suggested. Frankly, I would suggest wiping system, data, cache and dalvik just for good measure. If she wants to keep a lot of the apps' progress/settings she has, I would install Titanium Backup and back up all user apps first before doing anything. She may have everything synced with her Google account as I believe you can sync apps and their data through Google now, but I haven't tested it yet.
To install the ROM, you'd just need to put it somewhere locally on your tablet, I have a '000Flash' folder on the root of my internal SD storage for any ROMs/kernels/modems (on my phone), etc. Place it in there, then get yourself into recovery. Once in recovery, wipe everything I mentioned above, then go back to the install/flash option of whatever recovery you're using. Flash the .zip file you just downloaded and put locally on your tab. Wait a few minutes and boot her up!
Just make sure you have the right software for the right version tablet you have, N5110 vs N5100.

I'm all rooted and running the ROM...
This ROM definitely needs a little TLC...
How about putting a list of requests together so maybe we have an Idea of what we can expect?
Here is a thread for customizing this ROM!!!
Here is a link to the Google Edition 4.3 Camera
This works I have it installed. and it is pretty sweet. (even on a 5mp Camera)
I installed xposed framework today and it works well on this ROM. Has anyone else tried this?
You can go here for other mods to add to it...
After you have the Xposed frame work installed you can install the app_settings see attachments, to modify the per app DPI settings.
example, you open up app settings go to gmail, set the dpi to 160 & screen (dp): 1000x1600
I did this for System settings as well and they look nice.
Play around with it and we can build on it...
You can find other mods that you can see if they work and build a list in a new thread. REMEMBER TO BACK UP FIRST!
Ge the disabler in attachments to flash in case you get into a boot loop. These work well since this is a stock ROM.
NottachXposed works very nicely for this ROM... You just have to play with it a little bit, but you can tweak it out nicely...
Don't forget to grab the Multi-Window Manager over in the Themes and app section. It works Great Without any flaws so far...!
If you need a 3-way reboot menu, here is an excellent app here for that...

Wiping cache and a factory re-set doesn't delete /system files, it only wipes your /data partition, which means any apps you downloaded are deleted.
What you have is one of the inexpensive clones (uses a MediaTek cpu), which sometimes use a weak launcher.
What I would do, is download a launcher from the Play Store, like Nova Launcher, and see if it will detect the rest of your apps. Nova Launcher, Apex Launcher are 2 of the most popular.
Oh, I also moved your thread to the correct forum where it will have a better chance of being answered.

I haven't a clue on that.
But I can advise you a nice addition for MediaTek devices. It's called Gravity Box. It's based on Xposed installer. Basically you install the exposed installer on your phone (must be rooted if I'm not mistaken) Then download Gravity Box and let the installer install it. Gives you a ton of some cool options specifically for MediaTek devices. I know, I'm using it on my own phone (Explay X-tremer) which I think has the same cpu as yours.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316070 for android version 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3. They have a link for version 4.4 in their post.
What I can tell you about these cloned devices, it that they have a strange partition layout. I'm not sure when you did your cache wipe, if it wiped something that was installed at the factory (cache image, Dalvak Cache image). And when they got wiped, it wiped some pre-installed configuration. These clones are strange.
In the worst case, you should be able to re-flash the basic stock ROM using their software. You should check around for some korean sites that have a forum/users for your specific phone. Unfortunately, XDA doesn't offer much support for clones.
I also use another app called Gravity Screen (allows automatic display on/off using the sensor) saves a little battery life.

Here's what I used;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
Basically you do 2 things.
1) Set your USB Debug on (Settings/Developer Options)
2) In Settings/Security set Unknown Sources
Then copy the newest apk from the link above. And put it in your device somewhere (Internal SD card for example). Using your file manager (or get ES File Explorer from the Play Store) select the apk and let it install to your phone. Then start the app, and I believe for MTK devices you would select either Boromir or Faramir exploit.
Should probably work for you. Takes a couple of minutes and a re-boot. The good thing, is that if none of the exploits work, you don't damage the phone, and simply uninstall the app.
As for an updated ROM, you must wait for whomever made your device to give you a newer version. DO NOT install any other ROM, unless it is made specifically for your device. And you have a clone, so that may not happen.
Credit for this goes to another user in another discussion forum. I just wanted to put it in a proper forum to help folks.
Please discuss your victories and defeats with your modules.
I currently use two modules: YouTube Ad Blocker and Greenify Experimental Settings. Test your Greenify settings one at a time. I have found that allowing hibernation of system processes causes an occasional bootloop. I think it's related to just one or two apps, so I'm trying to isolate those.
Xposed APK will be attached momentarily. I have to switch to a desktop.
Thanks!

I've been having issues with apps not staying hibernated (Greenify), and when I tried Xposed, my Venue 8 became unstable. I've installed your version; and so far, so good! I'm using Greenify Experimental and Amplify.

@urquiagal same here. Glad to hear you are having success with Xposed as well.
I hope more interest in the Venue 8 7840 comes our way. This is an amazing system.
I spoke too soon ...
{sigh}
A couple of nights ago my Venue started bootlooping again, and it wouldn't stop until I uninstalled XPosed. I wanted so badly for this to work.
Is the xposed bootloop issue just a problem with the stock ROM, or does it happen with custom ROMs too? I've never flashed a non-stock ROM on any of my devices, but I think I'd be willing to try with the Venue if that would let me use Greenify's full functionality.
Slightly OT: is it possible to put a Venue 3830 into "safe mode"? Not wanting to do another factory reset (still a pain even with Titanium restore), it took me a LOT of bootloop cycles trying to uninstall xposed in 10-15 second intervals. (And why does the Venue app list only scroll one way?) I finally managed to put the StatsOf icon on the primary home screen, change my settings to open the app list first, sort the app list so that xposed was on the first "page", and long-press the xposed entry long enough to get the delete prompt before it looped again. Did a hard reboot at that point and the loop was gone.

No custom Roms or development at all for this tablet yet.

Leave the Xposed installed, but disable the Greenify module. That will likely solve it.
No custom ROMs are out yet. If you need it, the Dell 4.4.4 factory ROM is posted in Venue General (7840 ROM, that is)
What is the best root method you guys have used?
Venue 8 7840 only supports tethered CWM at this time

@spotdog14 - The only way to access a recovery and install SuperSU is through a tethered CWM recovery session made for Intel x86 Android tablets - Check this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
On another note: What do you folks think about creating a generic Venue 7840 "Tips and Tricks/What-We-Know-So-Far" thread and compile this info? I would be glad to lead this.
Thanks!

That would probably be a good idea - it's all dotted around at the moment and mixed in with the other venue tablets.

A couple of weeks ago, I put in a request for a dedicated Venue 7840 forum. Here is what I'm thinking:
Intro
Guides
[**]Tethered CWM Recovery + SuperSU
[**]Xposed module install
[**]Format microSD for support up to 512GB
Resources
[**]Dell 4.4.4 CWM Nandroid rooted image
[**]APKs of Dell-specific apps (Camera, Gallery, etc. - whatever will work as such)
Anything else?

Awesome, thanks! I had some problems finding the right ADB driver but it all worked out. I ended up using option 3 and got an error about too many links but it still booted fine into recovery and I was able to flash SU just fine. The first two apps to install here Adaway and xposed.
**Edit**
I have a question, this is obviously an older version of xposed and one of the modules I use is App Settings and it is saying it requires XposedBridge Version 52. Is it safe to update Xposed from inside the app or should I try downloading an older version of App Settings?
I would not recommend updating Xposed just yet. One of the modules that I use is YouTube adblock, and it complained about not having the latest framework. It still worked, though.
The reason I posted this Xposed (found on another Android x86 forum) was that when I tried the latest framework, I got an immediate bootloop.
Fortunately, though, if you have a problem, you can boot to Android Safe Mode and have enough time to remove Xposed. Boot the system while holding down both VolUp+VolDn, and it'll boot to Safe Mode.
RE: Adblock -> That's my first order of business. Install FDroid+Adblock. It is night-and-day performance boost on Android.

That is kind of what I figured. I just wish I could get App Settings to work.
Also it appears I cannot get Xposed GEL Settings to work correctly either. I'm going to try to uninstall it and reinstall it later today to see if that makes any difference.
I haven't tried Xposed GEL yet. Let me know how that goes. What I figure we could do in the compiled 7840 info thread is include what's been tried and a "Yes/No/Kinda" section of how apps/modules are performing.

Sounds good to me. After reinstalling GEL settings worked fine. I'm thinking about applying gravity box next. I miss my customizable quick toggles.
Update, Gravity Box KK works, but you cannot disable or move the quick access settings for:
My Dell
Sound
Dell Cast
But from my brief test everything else seems to be working fine.
@spotdog14 - Thank you for posting your findings. I will roll this into the general thread.
Som sad news, though. I traded in my Venue 7840 for a Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition. I really needed the pen capability. Nonetheless, I have the info I need to set up the 7840 general forum.
I am currently uploading Dell's factory 4.4.4 image as Nandroid. It should be pre-rooted, but if not, use the tethered CWM to install the latest SuperSU.

I used this tool to install xposed from day one and has worked great for me the past couple months. It's 2.6.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/tool-installer-xposed-installer-zenfones-t2983589
Worked like a charm.
Does not brick wifi - working Wifi

Thanks for sharing this. Is this debloated version - while based on NOOK edition there are not useless apps right?
Also is it pre-rooted and pre-xposed ?

Yes more bloatware from the nook edition however the nook edition uses UX in Touchwiz to make the home screen much much nicer looking I know you have been PM'ing me im working right now on a debloater script for ya guys, trust me i hate bloatware as much as you, as for xposed no, no pre installed xposed, why because after installing xposed it takes almost 10 to 15 mins to restart into the system and once people install this i like how they can get right back into there OS, and rooted if you have TWRP installed which you need to flash this you have SuperSU and root, Unless you deny TWRP to install SuperSu.
I will continue working on the debloater for you sorry its taking sometime but there's a TON of samsung useless apps plus you have to factor in some people may want this or that and if i make a script to flash its going to remove all the bloat not a pick and choose script.
Can i use this on 237p ?

Umm you know i dont think there are any like device changing settings, if you look in your system files the apps framework and priv-app are very similar then i dont see why not however you have to know i forgot this in my first post if you brick it then you know its not my fault, cause we both know they dont belong in that phone, lol but i am kinda a dare devil hell i flashed a kernel from a completely different phone and i was still ok restoring it. I just checked out your specs im not expert i would pm a dev from another thread just to make sure you., but if you upload you files i will deodex your rom for you its takes me like 10 mins takes me longer to upload then to deodex lol
My current rom is already somewhat debloated so would I have to temporally reinstall those apps for updating?

This update.zip contains the apks and jars from system/app system/framework and system/priv-app yes it would reinstall the bloatware i had a request to make a debloater script which i can do however if i got more requests for it id make a script to remove the bloatware a lot of people dont realize bloatware is mainly the cause of drop in performance.
This is kinda embarrassing but i had a working debloater script saved on my desktop. i had to reinstall windows 10 of course lol and gone! it took sometime to make because Samsung has more crap then any other

Im not having any luck getting this to boot on my t530nu Model. I have the lollipop bootloader contained in the official 5.0.2 update from samsung but it isnt the newest version contained in your stock rom. Would that be catching me up? i got multirom all set up and dont relish the thought of having to restore the newest stock image and redo everything. thanks much
