Atrix fastboot tool is replaceable by any fastboot file released around the time our device got released til now. Recovery.img will depend on what ROM you are trying to install.
Radio imgs are out there, but what carrier do you have? No updated radios were released since the final GB update for our device.

I know that i can use any fastboot file for atrix but i'm close to a newbie and with atrix fastboot tool is more simple clean completely my device because as i do in the past i have just to put numbers linked to functions that i want ne done and that program does everything and all it's very simple. For the revorery it isn't a problem because i'll install cm11 with its recovery and i saw that there is a little guide on how to install all on the first page of the ROM. As carrier i have Vodafone Italy and i remember about two years ago i found a radio img that starts with 1.100..... And i would find this radio again because the link of it i already have is dead

I hear you. I don't have the tool you seek, but i might be able to tweak the tool that I have for my AHD. I'm at work, but i can work on it in a few hrs. Shouldn't be too hard to tweak what i have for your need.
I'll dig around for that one. I don't believe i have it, but i may remember a link that is still good. What radio is installed right now?

While i was thinking on how make the work that you are doing for me and for everyone wants to install a new rom in a completely clean atrix more simple because i think that it's a very bad thing waste your time i had an idea that can be a great simple solution to succeed in my aim and i would explain to you. It's possible for you to make a simple guide with commands that the program i'm looking for does automatically?
Example:
I would erase radio = fastboot erase radio (i don't know if it is the right command)
I would erase webtop = fastboot erase webtop (i don't know if it is the right command)
I would erase ......
So everyone newbie or not has just to copy and paste in his CMD line. I'm sure if you want and if you have some free time you can do a wonderful guide for everyone, very simple to use and if you can add the link to the best fastboot for atrix (i read that there are more than one and i don't know the differences betwen them) it would be perfect. Thanks

Thats the link to the tool. And yes, you are on the right track with your thinking. The radio partition is actually called modem, so it would be fastboot erase modem to erase the modem. To flash a new radio, it would be fastboot flash modem radio.img (or whatever the name of the radio.img file is)

First of all thanks for the link, then i would ask you what i have to do after installation of the fastboot tool if for example i have to launch CMD as administrator or simply i can do all with fastboot tool. If you can write a simple step by step guide or if you have a link to a simple step by step guide would be great. Then i would ask you about the PDS fix. Does it is important to flash or not? At least i would ask you the right commands to do these operations
- Erase /boot
- Erase /radio
- Erase /system
- Erase /userdata
- Erase /cache
- Erase /webtop
- Erase /preinstall
- Erase /sdcard
- Flash pds image from Atrix devkit
- Flash Recovery (the One for cm11 big part's ROM)
Thanks a lot and if you want to stop helping me you have only to say it. I understand it

You just need to open up the Main-Skip.bat file. Its pretty self explanatory. Don't wipe your radio/modem yet, i'm having issues locating the server with various A4G files. Will keep you updated on that one.
Never really played with pds. I recall reading about it and the fix, never used it though

Wtf?! I made a post yesterday with the links to my ROM that I had uploaded yesterday. It didn't post? I'll do it again after breakfast. Sorry for having you guys wait. :-(
Ok, here they are. I'm glad I didn't delete my note after putting up the post. I just saw on my netbook tha tthe post actually WAS up - the page was still loaded. Weird.

recovery - http://www.multiupload.com/H0IWQK63N9

Good luck with those. I didn't include /data for obvious reasons, but a data wipe should make that no problem.

Hi W0nk0, think it disappeared because one of the XDA RAID's died during their maintanence so they have had to restore a backup that was made 24 hours prior to the fail, lots of people have lost their posts because of it.

You have to flash from fastboot
Not sure what order you should do them in, but i would go with.
Code:
fastboot -i 0x413c erase system -w
fastboot -i 0x413c flash system system.img
fastboot -i 0x413c erase boot
fastboot -i 0x413c flash boot YourBoot.img
fastboot -i 0x413c erase recovery
fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery YourRecovery.img
fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
Oh BTW I thake no responsibility for you messing up your device
I would like to add to @spences post that you might want to erase your /data partition too, probably with fastboot -i 0x413c erase data. Otherwise you will have your old /data from the previous build left, that sounds like problems to me.

*nnnyah*, good spot W0nk0
I havent done it this way before I'd usually either has wiped from recovery or via recovery option 1
I have however flashed a system.img this way when there were all these updates going onto the beta 2.1
check out the MoDaCo post here:

After flashing your backup via fastboot , at last i have a working streak , after one month tries to restore it from "brick " state.
Thanks a lot.You saved me

So first off would like to thank W0nk0. Using his command made my dell streak into possibly the most expensive paper weight on the market. At this point it literally does nothing, its just off. No responsive from LEDs. No screen animation. Nothing! So secondly anyone know how to fix it? Would be very appreciative to anyone willing to help.

From the Streak section of the XDA wiki:
WARNING ABOUT FASTBOOT: Do not attempt to use fastboot erase or fastboot -w on the Streak
The fastboot program on the streak has issues and attempting to erase partitions with it may result in it hanging.
If it hangs the Streak will not be able to start up and is likely not rescuable by any manner (including QDL Tool)
Use factory reset via recovery mode instead.

[Q] Going from gingerblur to 2.3.4

Hey guys
I'm a bit worried, I have gingerblur on the phone now, and apparently OTAing from it can be bad juju
I read the fastboot way of doing it, but just want to make sure I got this right so I dont mess it up
1. DL fastboot
2. download all the images from the link provided on the thread
**here is where I need to make sure I got this right***
3. I have to put all the images in the same folder as the fastboot.exe I guess
4. use the commands given on the link
moto-fastboot flash boot boot.img
moto-fastboot flash system system.img
5. I wipe the data and reboot
moto-fastboot -w
moto-fastboot reboot
6. should be gtg
now my questions are
is it going to be rooted when I do this, or will I have to reroot the phone (is it posisble to root the 2.3.4?)
and can I do this coming from gingerblur? I don't wanna mess anything up
and lastly, what about all the other img files? webtop, radio etc...
thanks!
ps. sorry I'm in a rush, supposed to goto dinner and then see captain america, so I figured I put this up real quick b4 i leave, gf is waiting at the door! lol

So what are allll these posts about phones hard bricking? Why isn't everyone just doing this?
I realized unlocked as in bootloader unlocked... That part I'm not sure, I did the OTA 1.8.3 update, so I assume not...
I doubt I'll be downgrading though, so is it safe to just use that link? I'd hate to hard brick

@razorseal,
You will not hard-brick if you use the link posted by @mpalatsi.
It appears to be the official SBF version of the OTA. Edit: actually, that one is modified with the unlocked bootloader.
However, you will not be able to go back to any other SBF after you flash this thing. It modifies the bootloader in a way that will cause damage if you try to revert. This is ok if you have no plans to revert, but one never knows when they need to take a step back.
So, you can commit to this SBF or you can do the sensible thing: unlock your bootloader (if you haven't already done so) and follow with your procedure (or use the Fruit Cakes which are equivalent to the fastboot flashing, but using the recovery).
I would recommend staying away from SBF's in general, especially from the ones that cause irreversible changes to the bootloader.
Edit: If you need help unlocking your bootloader, look up the Pudding thread in the Dev section. Everything is straightforward and has been done by many users successfully.
Edit2: If it makes you feel any better, I personally used the method you described in the OP to upgrade. Wasn't that hard or "complicated".

ok, got it...
I understand no downgrading, but how about upgrading in the future?
so if I want to do it the 'safe' way, how do I do that? the way I mentioned it? (the thread via fastboot)
How can I check if i'm unlocked my bootloader or not?
I'm in the same boat. I'm on ginger blur and 1.83 and I just want to update, unlock and root.I would like to revert back if need be.

This link was exactly what I used.
As far as upgrading in the future, you can use the resources found here, on XDA. People will be dissecting new updates to remove the nasty bits (bootloaders and such).
If you decide that you want to play with custom ROMs, you can do that, too.
You will NOT be able to use OTA's unless you backtrack to a fully stock ROM via official OTA's or SBF's. This can be done, but will require some careful work on your part.
For the bootloader unlocking--go read the Pudding thread here. It is very a straightforward procedure.
Edit: if your first Motorola boot screen has the word "Unlocked" in the upper left corner, then you are unlocked. If not, then ...
Don't you remember if you unlocked your bootloader?
There is a method to check that I think in the pudding thread.
With unlocked bootloader, when moto makes an OTA, the devs here take it, mod it, made it a flashable zip, and you can upgrade your phone.
For downgrading.
Personally I m on gingerblur 4.5. With unlocked bootloader, and tenfars port of cwm recovery installed.
I currently have CWM nandroid backup.
I can install the 2.3.4 cherryblur e.g( with cwm installation also), and whenever I want I can restore this backup..
I can also have 2 backups of 2.2 and 2.3 and switch between the 2 backups.
Its very good advice to stay away from sbf's.
Safer seems the cwm zip files.. Of known devs..

I agree with almost everything.
The 'almost' part is that using stock system.img can be a good idea. Whenever new firmware updates come out, I am always curious to see what the OEM envisioned to be the 'normal' look for their device.
Flashing these is perfectly safe because you are only touching the system partition. As long as you have functional fastboot (unlocked bootloader) or recovery, you will have two fallback positions in case something goes wrong (like a bad flash).
Trusting OEM's to give you a good product has historically been a losing proposition. They always take waaay too long. And they make stupid mistakes (like the ****ed up battery monitor in the new Gingerbread ROM, the 4.5.91). And to fix those mistakes they take their sweet time again.
Anyway, @razorseal:
After you upgrade, you will likely see poor battery performance. The way to fix this is to flash the new radio 01.77.30P found here; this will be done through recovery. I am not sure if Ken's thread here is the same thing. The image files look different.
Also, to fix the aforementioned screw-up by Motorola, follow the instructions here.

Yes, zomgunlock-lite.sbf is the contents of "pudding".
That is your bootloader that has the unlock code. Just follow Ken's instructions from the page you linked to.
Also, here is the link for an easy root method after you are done.
If you are still scared, watch the videos of the process here. I didn't have time to look too carefully, but it clearly shows what the bootloader screen should look like when you've successfully unlocked.
Good luck, I have to sleep now.

cm9 Rom Help

hey i am trying to install this rom for the phone and i dont know how to flsh it using the following:
beta 0.5.1 flashboot flashers
moto-fastboot flash system system.img
moto-fastboot flash boot boot.img
these are just what i have to download:
system.img
boot.img
my question i gues is how do i flash them? and install them
Is this your first flash into cm9? If so be aware that some have had problems with loss of service. Are you GSM or CDMA(sprint)? they little detail can make our break it. Most times, people are referenced to flashing through CWM into CM9 3.1 let it boot, than flashing into a more recent build.
Just some background before getting into a direct answer.

Don't move, seriously don't even blink. Or you might screw up your phone!
You are way ahead of where you need to be, if you are asking this query.
First, as asked above, are you unlocked....as in, is your bootloader unlocked?
You need to be rooted and have your bootloader unlocked to flash this ROM.
When your BL is unlocked, the phone reverts to factory default, meaning it is wiped clean. Also 4G is broken. There is no way around these so you better make a backup of everything you care about; viz, contacts, sms, call logs etc.
Read the first three threads in the stickies.
Also, 'Qbking77' has posted numerous videos of how-to. Here's one about rooting and CWM.
Don't hesitate to ask for help if you feel stuck. Better that than bricking the device.
Good Luck!

[Q] Newb With Rooting Questions

Hey guys I just joined the site a few days ago after being sent here by some guys from some Audio forums, which is my main hobby. I guess you could say Im kind of a techy but am just now getting in to laptop building and things like that so I am still a newb. Anyways I just got the HTC DNA which I like quite a bit but Id like a little more out of it such as little better battery life, more customization, and to get rid of the bloat ware installed. On that note however I have never done anything much with phones since this is my first Droid after using Iphones which is why Im starting this thread...
I have been reading around and am still quite lost as to what I need to do to get what I wanted (battery life, customization, and to get rid of bloatware). I really like the ViperDNA ROM after watching the video but not sure if....
1. It will do what I want?
2. How to install it/make it run properly?
3. If there is something better?
So if you guys could walk me through what it takes to run something like that I would greatly appreciate you helping out some one new to this whole "Rooting" thing since this is my first Droid... If I can return the favor by helping out with your Car audio or talking guns with anyone Id be glad to!

I love the ViperRom! It has every customization imaginable and is very professional looking. It helps with battery life but you can use pretty much any kernel you want with a rom and that probably has as much or more affect on battery life. You need to be rooted and have adb installed on your pc - are you to this point yet?
Here is a good link by droidmodd3rx that walks through most things on video. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012346
Also did you accept Verizon ota update in the last week? If so I am not sure you can root yet, they will have to work out a new method for that.

depending on what you named your directories are you going to the platform-tools directory? you need to type adb not adp, lower case not caps, and then there needs to be a command after adb. Try adb devices.

Well I got it unlocked finally but now when I go to flash the Recovery I just get an error... Sometimes the "emulator" one, "waiting on the device" , Or just cant the find file... Just doing it straight from the comand I open in the file or using Hansoon2000's tool...
Quick question
Hey, going to do a little thread jacking here. It seems like this would be the best place to ask my question. I'm a long-time iOS user that just switched and silly me accepted the OTA 2.04.605 update. Now, if I performed a hard reset wouldn't that put my software back to its factory settings and would allow me to unlock my bootloader? Sorry if this annoying just trying to make sure it'll work before I go through the hassle of restoring. Thanks for any help!

Your phone needs to be in fastboot for you to find it. Connect the phone, boot into the bootloader, enter fastboot, open a new command prompt, and try "fastboot devices". you should see the phone.
If you can't find the file then you're not in the right directory. Make sure you navigate to the folder that contains the file then run the command. (or you can just give it the full path to the file)

No, I don't think that'll help. The factory reset basically wipes memory and restores the original ROM. The OTA updates the radios / kernel. But don't quote me on that. I'll let a dev who knows better comment.

This question has been answered, but I thought I'd provide a little more detail to their answers:
On android, the memory is divided into several partitions (you might think of it like different disk drives), including a /boot, /system, and /data partition. The /boot partition is where the kernel (the heart of the android o/s) resides; the /system (where the bulk of the android o/s resides); the /data is where your apps and personal data reside. The /boot and /system partitions require system administrator level rights in order to change the information stored there (the system administrator account on android/linux is known as "root" or "superuser").
The update that came from VZW changed elements in the /system and /boot directories, using a superuser key to grant the update permission to change the files on those partitions.
Unfortunately, a factory reset only essentially re-formats the /data partition, wiping out all the user information stored there, but doesn't change the /system or /boot partitions.
The root process essentially hacks the device to gain system administrator rights to the android phone, using exploits in the android o/s. This is essentially a cat and mouse game. The update sent by VZW/HTC patches the exploits that were used to gain root access (that is why it is always dangerous to accept updates from VZW/HTC).
Hopefully the developers on this website will be able to find another exploit/weakness, and provide a way for those who have phones that have the update to obtain root, unlock the bootloader (another partition), and gain s-off (another level of turning a security flag to "off" so that even more partitions can be accessed/changed (ie.the /radio partition).

[Q] Deleted main part of google settings now I cant open Play Store nor download apps

Hello guys I have a serious problem
First of all my smartphone:
HTC One M7
I'm not that good at rooting an stuff so I try out alot of things. So I rooted my phone and put cyanogenmod on it with the special software from the main-site (thats the software for dummies where it does everything by itself)
so then it was rooted and unlocked and had cyanogenmod on it. The main reason for me to do this was to be able to delete those annoying preinstalled apps like the google app itself (seriously if I wanna google something I aniway open the browser...) aniway I also deleted a few other apps and it worked just fine for like a half year.
Then I decided to check if I could delete something else and decided to delete (I'm not a 100% sure if it was this but I'm pretty sure) a part of the google settings app with a root app deleting app.
afterwards everything was still working fine except that I cant open Play store, when I do try to open it it pops up and imediately closes again without a error message or anithying (its also still opened in the "taskmanager" but if i try to open it from there the same thing happens) also I cant create any more google accounts or can install any kind of app nothing of that seems working. So afterwards I decided to try many things out to get the probelm away myself, first attempt was to newly install the cyanogenmod, with didn't work because I couldn't install the neccessery app on the phone.
then I tried flashing new roms by downloading various snapshots and nightly versions of CM (I coudln't find a stable version of CM for my HTC One M7) onto my phone an flashing them using recovery.
this actually worked and In the end I had those versions on my phone but the problem with the playstore and installing apps was still there. also in the setup of CM it asks to create a google account and when i press the button I get habtic feedback that I pressed it but nothing at all happens and if i then try to create a new google account in the settings it also just doesn't open anithyng.
I think the only way would be to flash a rom from the PC by using something like Odin but I havent found any way to make it work so I'm asking you if any of you has an idea what to do...
o and another piece of information wich might be useful: the google settings app is still there but with alot less options.
thanks already for every answer I get

Unfortunately if an ruu won't work, the next thing you can do it adb. It isn't that scary or difficult. Below is a very detailed guide that simplifies it. It helps you install ADB to your PC and gives the basic commands you can do. The one you want is: adb push filename /directoryonandroid while in recovery and it will send your rom zip to your phone then it is just a simple install.

EG: in this example the rom I want to install is in the directory c:/adb
Code:
CD C:/adb/
Adb devices
(Verbose showing the computer recognizes your phone)
Adb shell
su
Adb push rom.zip /sdcard/
(Verbose of the command working or failing)
Then you go to the root of your sdcard and install the rom like normal in recovery. Be sure you are in recovery when doing adb commands. The reason I did adb shell and su command is because I was sending a file to the root of SD and sometimes that would need root. You could try pushing the file without root.
