So I am pretty new to android stuff and don't really know a lot. I rooted this phone, and saw somewhere that you have to unlock the bootloader to get custom roms. I went to work to find out how to do that, and tried to unlock it. When I would enter the command it would just show three dots and would not load anything else, and it wouldn't let me try codes again. It was stuck with those three dots. I also had this app that said bootloader: unknown. Do I have to unlock the bootloader? If yes, how? Are there even any roms that could work on this phone? Thanks.

Hi all,
surely most of us know that SE's newer Xperias have official unlocking instructions. I just went to the website anyway and poked around;
http://unlockbootloader.sonyericsson.com/instructions
I've an X10 Mini by the way. I followed the instructions, SE asked for my IMEI in return for a code to unlock my device, and I fully expected to get rejected at this point and nope, I got a code unique to my device. I can go ahead and TRY to unlock, and I'm not sure what could go wrong now...but the site is, naturally FULL of warnings against noobs who may destroy their device. Anyone know what are the chances of a brick if I do as they say in the instructions? It's really simple-download the Andorid SDK, enter a command, enter a code unique to my device and boom...boom to unlock, or as I'm afraid -boom to brick it...These instructions may OFFICIALLY be for particular newer SE devices, but they did after all give a code unique to my phone which may make it work, no? UNLESS, they changed something in the bootloader of the newer Xperias, hence mine might not work.
Any ideas?
This thread shows up every week, you can give them a nokia imei and they'll still give you a code, won't do anything tho.
So if entering an IMEI-based code doesn't change anything, does that mean it's a bootloader issue? Meaning that the older and newer Xperias do have some differences between the bootloaders which defines what's possible? Or something else?
This may of course come to nothing. It was this paragraph in particular that got me wondering. Also, will the code just not work, or could it brick the device?
"The only way to determine if you can unlock the boot loader for your phone is to connect your phone to the Fastboot tool in the Android™ SDK. If your phone can connect to Fastboot, the boot loader can be unlocked."

We cannot enter Fastboot mode on the mini/minipro. So we cannot unlock the bootloader with their "official" method.
Thanks mate, that clears that up!
he guys what is the unoffical way to unlock my phone
Unlocking is a different thing altogether...
when I got my X10 Mini it was so new that most places didn't know what to do with it. I did find a shop I know and trust and got it unlocked there. I have no idea how it is with doing it yourself. The older SEs yeah, Xperias, I've no experience.
I cant unlock my Galaxy S2. It is currently locked to Bell and I would like to be using Rogers. I Have already successfully rooted the phone (or so the computer says and the Yellow triangle indicates on the phone. I have downloaded Chainfires Unlock app, but every time the phone gets to 5/5 around 60% the phone just restarts itself without displaying the actual Unlock code. Very annoying. What do? Thanks in advance guys.
That unlock app doesn't work for Bell or Virgin phones, use this one it is confirmed to work. I have personally used it on my Bell phone.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.helroz.galaxysunlock
Note this one doesn't give a code, it just unlocks the phone.
Im sorry but im clearly not too bright. I have downloaded this app i saved (step one) then I press step 2 (unlock sim) and the phone just restarts. I have busybox latest version installed 1.18.something i believe and I have tried to google a how to for this but cant seem to find one. am i doing something wrong? how do i use this or where can I find a guide? Again sorry and much thanks
It is done then after it rebooted you are sim unlocked.
You can confirm it by putting *#SIMLOCK# into the phone dialer. Everything should say off.
Hello, I just recently got an Atrix off of ebay. I want to get into playing witih android phones. I've already read numerous threads, got the android sdk, rsd lite, etc.. I've been reading about flashing, and to be careful of what you flash based on what firmware versions are already on the phone.
The problem I have is the phone is subsidy locked, but it's locked in a way that not even AT&T sims work. It always asks for the pin, and the code AT&T gave me (they stated it was the subsidy unlock code) fails. So I looked at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356121
However, I have no idea what's on this phone. I can't access any settings menu in the phone, as it sticks to the "Emergency Calls Only" screen. i don't know what firmware is on the phone, what radio is on it, etc.. I don't want to try to flash a radio file and have it brick my phone. I've read quite a bit this past hour, but I'm at a crossroads here and don't know what to do to figure out what is exactly on this phone. If I knew what I had exactly, I'd be a lot more confident in flashing things.
I do know the bootloader is unlocked (the phone boots saying "Unlocked"). That's all I know :\
EDIT: Disregard. It took me another 6 hours but I finally got everything figured out (had to boot it with no sim to view things, then from there I got into it all). Rooted, CWM, flashed the bell radio and my sim works for now. Thanks for the valuable info that's listed here!
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
hey,
I do have the atrix which is netwoek subsidy locked.
I even cant use at&t. I am outside us currently.
Could you tell me how did you flashed bell radio & where u got that.
Thanks
Hello XDA Community
I have had my Sony Xperia Z ultra Since last year and i've never been able to Unlock the Bootloader...whenever i've tried it just doesn't work almost makes me not want the device as i cant stand the stock Sony Xperia UI.
First off the normal method ive tried just never works
UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER:
This may wipe your phone, so backup your stuff
• Go to Sony's dev site
• Request the unlock key and check your mail straight away. Email is quick these days.
• Open Flashtool on your computer (yes, the one you installed earlier)
• Click the "BLU" icon
• Follow the steps and enter your unlock key
Quick note...If i type *#*#7378423#*#* into the keypad and continue the steps i get to the Service info > Configuration > Rooting Status. If Bootloader unlock allowed and its always said Bootloader not allowed...now i don't know if that means anything or with a bit of hope ill still be able to Unlock my Phone...
My phone is a contract phone with o2 here in the uk and even trying to return the phone is impossible as they tell me all the time are you asking to unlock the device for use with a different network
I've done my best to explain to them no its the bootloader and they tell me i shouldn't be messing with the device etc etc etc etc.....
anyways theres no way of convincing them and am stuck with this exact phone...i dunno what else to do if even trying to unlock bootloader will ever work for me
" If Bootloader unlock allowed and its always said Bootloader not allowed."
Thats the problem.
You could look at installing a theme or maybe monx's ROM

This means that your bootloader is unlockable from the factory. There's no work around for this.
Sent from my C6833 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

7.I followed the steps guided here
The steps are as follows
1.reboot to boot loader and flash vbmeta_disable.tar
2.Put TWRP tar in AP and flash
3.Reboot to recovery
4.Disable encryption
Go to Advanced >Terminal : type "multidisabler"
5.Go back to wipe>Format Data>type "yes"
6.Reboot system
This is my first experience to root and flash TWRP.... but after that when I reboot my phone got lock .... only official binaries allowed to be installed....and stuck there

I watched hundreds of videos on yt and searched a lot on Google but
found no proper solution.....someone tell me to wait 7 days....

Uptime should be equal to 7days... then oem unlock option will appear but ...... I want another solution date change and WiFi connect is not solution ... If any body knows any other solution please guide me ... I'll be very thankful.....
@ladlabaloch512
Perhaps your device has the same "OEM unlock" block like mine.
On mine I was supposed to wait 7d after turning on dev options.
I bypassed that by
1. switching to airplane mode
2. Setting manually date back one month
3. Restart (still in airplane mode)
4. Turning off airplane mode and let it sync date
and voila OEM unlock option was there.
Perhaps that works on your device as well.

Keep us updated.. I'd like to get my OEM unlock to come out of hiding.. this is frustrsting.. i see all these tutorials for the A02s root, twrp and ROMs and whatnot and I'm itching to get flashing!
Is it possible to flash an unlocked carrier firmware in ODIN and then be able to unlock OEM? Without carrier issues or anything? I'm a little nervous to be the first to try.. and not sure where to find US unlocked carrier firmware or if location even matters... I have the SM-A025AZ (US Cricket variant).. I guess as long as Download Mode (fastboot) is still accessible I could just flash the Cricket version back to the device.. bricked my LG-E980 back in the day.. took me a few months how to get it back up and running with LG flash tool.. i just dont want to repeat that fiasco lol... so anybody got any updates on hacking this OEM (un)lock bs??? Or any idea on flashing some other variant to the device without interrupting carrier stuff??.. seems like alot just to get a damn virtual switch to turn on.. but damnit I need root access! Lol.. about to just exchange this phone for an actual rootable phone.. i disagree with charging for hotspot.. that should be illegal.. getting charged twice to use th same bs internet.. eff that.. i just want Rooooooot!!!
Hello,
I have also been having these troubles, with no way to unlock oem after stock flash, and the closest I've got to finding a solution was this, but I simply cannot find samsung's bootloader unlocking form like it says in the guide. I bought my phone just for a bootloader unlockable version (A025M), and now I am very angry at samsung.
also, since over a 1000 hours have gone by since last post, have any one of you solved this issue just by waiting?

its not only samsung that does this, many other companies like motorola does this. Dont be angry, just try a different device. Also, snapdragon US models (i dont think) arent able to be unlocked. If its a mediatek model and isnt sim/carrier locked, u can try MTKClient
