Dual Sim but no SD CarD? - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I ordered mine last week but noticed before i did purchase it that that it said dual sim (micro sd) So I am assuming that means that you can have one or the other?
Does anyone have one & do you think its possible to hack it so you can have two sims & one Micro SD?
Cheers

No it can't be hacked

Fantastic! That is just awesome! I might do the same.
Have you got any disadvantages? Does the SIM work properly after the heat action?

Only advantage but follow the tutorial carefully

Of course, I am not responsible for damages that this manipulation could result on your phone.
You remain alone responsible for your actions. !!!
This is only for information. And I will not help you in this manipulation, excepting, perhaps, give you some tips...
!!!! For me, that, worked, but this is not guaranteed! Many have tried without success. !!!
Read carefully the tutorial ( http://cn.ui.vmall.com/thread-2369212-1-1.html Google translate, like me, help you to understand ), many people, have lost sim card or Micro SD card.
I can say only one thing:
If you take the time to do it quietly. There is no reason why it does not work ...
Enjoy, or not...

So you completely followed this guide to achieve it? All steps without changes?

I used classic superglue ( cyanolite )

I was just wondering cause, the sim card should be glued on another position of the sd card than it is shown in the guide. The Guide is for a Mate 7 ...

It really works. Thank LePocketPc

Sounds really great! Was it hard to push the tray in the phone?

I have pushed the tray quite difficult but not to force

is that any possibilities to do this act without glue apply to sim and SD ?

Hi Andy,
just put the Link to your article in here and add a space between the firtst 2 characters of your link.
Should be something like that::

Then we all know how to handle that ;-)

I also did the same thing to my phone the other night and found that the original micro SD card was a class 4, so what I want to know is... What class of micro SD card did you use? I changed over my SD card the other night with a class 2 16GB and found that it showed up in the boot-loader as 'unknown' type SD card and that after the hard reset, when the phone was setting up and installing apps, it was taking 4 x longer then what it was when I had the original 8GB micro SD class 4 card in it.
Let me know if this has been the same for you or anyone else that has tried this. I have ordered a class 4 16GB SD card to try soon.
Cheers
Could you just copy/paste the procedure ?!...please
Ok Here is the link
Thanks Ralf
http://wp.me/p1azFB-J -try that
As you will see I just used an old class 2 16GB card that I had lying around, I think it is a Duracell brand !!. There were no problems with booting at all, just went straight to a message saying that the menu tiles were corrupt and asking for a reset. No noticable speed difference, but I will be getting a class 4 32Gb as soon as I can find one for a decent price.
Cheers
Andy
Good job...Thanks...!!
would 32GB Class 6 work fine ? and also will this effect Updates from MS, is there any serials on SD card that have to match up or something like that ? (hope not)

Hi Pipolas
For 3 of the black screws you will need to use a torx screwdriver, they are sometimes sold as "security" screwdrivers . The size you need is T6 x50. There is also 2 phillips screws which I just used a very small star pointed screwdriver for.
Hope that helps and thanks for your comments

I dont know yet about a class 6 32Gb replacement, but I am going to order one and try myself, as I beleive it will be fine. I will let you know once I get it delivered.
BYW, in terms of speed comparison, I have non-scientifically compared my 16GB class2 with my wife's standard 8GB Class 4 and the results look almost identical, in fact in some tests loading into IE etc the Class 2 phone was quicker. I need to run some games though to test properly, as they run mainly from the SD card and any real speed variance will be most apparent then.
There are no serial numbers needed, what WP7 is doing is formating the card in a special way, hence the need for the hard reset. This is shown by the fact that the 8GB card removed from the phone is not Fat32 formatted when connected to a PC and therefore does not show up. Equally when you plug your WP7 phone into the usb slot, it does not show up as a Removable Disk so you cannot simply transfer files to it like with WM6 and before. It remains to be seen if it can be reformatted to use elswhere.
Hope that helps
Cheers

thanks for sharing.
eh Andy i have a little problem :
how did you manage to put the power cord into the plug that is on the metal part? because I was handling, but the only thing that stuck is the mini usb port on this phone that is attached to the hull, I can not recharge the battery.
I suppose it is inserted incorrectly because at one point I tried to connect to PC USB port for a few seconds and he got "recognized" detected "then it went away.
thank you in advance for your help

S3 sd card unexpectedly removed?

Didnt drop the phone at all. Could it be that i went to a cold country? Negative 5 and then i'm back in the tropics.
When it happened to me because I dropped it, I bought a new adapter on ebay for like $5 and installed it myself. it's super easy
how to use adapter he is talking about the S3
you take the phone apart and replace the slot. but don't do it if you don't know anything about it

Don't ignore the more likely cause of this issue- the SD card is broken.

128GB micro sd card

I have not looked for one but I've been told they exist.
Question: will it be possible to fully use one on the max?
I have a 64GB card, but it would be nice to have more memory.
I work shift work and have lots of movies on my card as well as lots of music.

[Q] Anyone Tried a 32GB-64GB Micro SD Card??

The LG spec sheet says the G3 supports a 128GB-2TB Micro SD card. I don't need 128GB on my phone, but I would be ok with 64GB (or maybe even 32GB) of extra space.
Has anyone tried using a smaller card than 128GB in the G3 and can tell me if it works???
Thanks!!

same here my 64 gb is working fine
Anyone try a 128gb card? Thinking of picking one up.
I have an older 32gb in mine and I'm running quite fine.
I bought a 64GB microSD card today and formatted it in my G3. I can't seem to write any files to it except with Root Explorer and the stock File Manager. FolderSync and Astro File Manager won't create a new folder on the card. Any ideas?
I created the folders to sync to in FolderSync and it says it completes successfully in 0 seconds and syncs no files.
edit: Never mind, apparently it is a known issue. I'm trying one of the solutions.

Works great
64gb sdcard no problems.
Stock kitkat will require root for apps to have write access to your external sd card. If you're rooted or plan on rooting this app here will simplify the fix for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.sdfix
This is not an lg bug, but a horrible choice on Googles part that will probably change in Android L....
That app works great or you can manually do it yourself (if you fear apps) by:
Open file:
/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
Then add this to the WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE section.=:

BRF8 new SIM tray check - can't use my 2 SIM and microSD as before

EDIT: added samsung member official forum post:
https://community.samsungmembers.com/en_AE#/post?postId=338519&categoryId=491&page=1
I own a S9+ (SM-G965F) DUO.
Although Samsung chose to pretend that there is not enough space to accommodate 2 nano SIM card and a microSD, easy workaround exists:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/TF-Hybrid-Sim-Slot-Dual-SIM-Card-Adapter-Micro-SD-Extender-Android-Phone-HQ/152886554077?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
It is a very simple thin layer wires to connect the nano SIM externally.
I used this solution perfectly with 1 nano SIM in the tray 1, 1 microSD 128go in the SD tray + the thin layer SIM adapter and my 2nd nano sim in the external tray.
Since BRF8 update, upon boot, there is a message on white background, over all the rest of the launcher and lockscreen, preventing me from doing anything which said basically "There seems to be an unusual object in your SIM tray, please verify". There is no button to tap, no way to bring notification bar, no way to get past it with home, back or recent button.
This is freaking stupid and I don't even understand why BRF8 included this stupid check: I tried all arrangements and the conclusion is that BRF8 detects when there is both 2 SIM and a microSD and then plainly refuse to to anything despite EVERYTHING working perfectly (I can still see both SIM signal and the micro SD perfectly).
So I really need some advice on how to get passed this stupid overlay... A few ideas:
- disable a system app/package with adhell3: sim toolkit ? dual sim config ? but risk is malfunctioning sim cards...
- use another launcher which can bypass samsung home screen / overlay ? or use another theme ?
- get passed the overlay message with a combination of button ?
- remove the overlay message somehow with adb command ?
- find a way to hide the SD mount to prevent triggering the message ?
The issue is that I want to stay on stock with locked bootloader since I don't want to trip knox...
Thanks in advance for any contribution.

Very pissed since this stupid message doesn't bring anything safety improvement, it's juste blocking a perfectly working feature for no reason !!!
Still planning to test disabling some apps with adhell3 to see behavior, as well as going through some logcat.
I'm still trying to work out why on earth anyone needs dual SIMs. Having said that, just because a thing exists doesn't mean its good or that it works well, either that or you could have a faulty one.
i have the same problem..i was using the phone with 2 sims and a 256gb samsung evo sd.
i think it's time to say bye bye to s9 + and look for a phone with larger capacity. 64gb is nothing

Having a dual SIM phone is very important for anyone who wants the same phone for business/personal stuff or for anyone who travels a lot (and doesnt want crazy roaming taxes). Also SD is useful if you want all your stuff in your phone and not your laptop etc

I'm an expatriate and needs my home sim card + my local sim card. Plain and simple.
Please note that this was working perfectly prior to BRF8, they just added a check to prevent the use of 2 sim + a microSD although the phone totally handles it...
I'm also facing the same problem.
Same problem here, any solution?
Well, write to Samsung support. Every single one of you. Threaten to give it back, since it was working fine before and is not anymore. Only one way to get this handled - have Samsung revert the change, I think. Wishful thinking, I know, but what else can you do (especially wothout root)? If disabling packages does not help...

Ah OK. I notice that you put S9+ DUO in your first post is that significant? Its not something I've heard of unless it related to a dual sim model, in which case they shouldnt have blocked anything.

Of course it's significant: it's the variant that supports 2 SIM cards.
Yes, they shouldn't have blocked anything. And it's without notice or any information in the changelog (which is already a joke as the famous "optimized performance and bug fixes" on google play store).
I opened a topic on samsung members + asked a direct question/bug report to support.
https://community.samsungmembers.com/en_AE#/post?postId=338519&categoryId=491&page=1
Would be good as suggested to inform Samsung directly although I don't really have hopes...
