So, I was searching for solution to have custom recovery on my locked Xperia S and i couldn't find it. Is it even possible because of my locked bootloader? My phone is rooted.
Rooting with This method gives recovery on locked bootloader.
I'm using it. I make backups and also flash roms that are for locked bootloader.

xcream and [email protected] roms are pretty cool, easy to install on locked bootloader and clean,
You can also use the attached "recovery", very quick no reinstalls, and even root direct with flashtool. A lot faster than the old method

My SXS is rooted (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460) and CWM is installed (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756346) on locked bootloader. So I can install for example the [email protected] ROM with CWM and will still have root and CWM?
Thx for answers!

I saw in the general section that someone successfully unlocked there bootloader through the official Motorola website tool. However for future reference questions should always be posted in the Q&A Section, not in the Original Development section :good:.

Give it another try. Make sure you copy the unlock data/device id correctly.
BTW, You do know it'll void your warranty. Just saying.
Also, since Moto doesn't have an official support page for India, they probably didn't list it. However, I know a friend who did unlock it without any issues. So that makes at least 2.
Thanks.. I would give another try soon..

Doesn't matter what variant you have. Just follow the guides (Stickies) in the general section.
Only the carrier locked devices are not eligible for BL unlock. Rest can be unlocked officially by Moto.

Are you sure your entering your fastboot oem unlock token exactly the way it says to in the guide?
First of all, I'm spanish, my apologizes of my expresions or misspelling.
That's what I've done:
1 - I've checked if my bootloader was unlockable, and my phone say's: NO
2 - Then I've installed the DualRecovery W/O root and with my phone bootlocked.
3 - Then I've tryed to flash CM11 in TWRP recovery, flashing first the Boot.img via fastboot.
4 - Device in Red Light.
What I can do to woke up my Z2? That's my record 2 hrs to **** my phone. :silly:
Firstly, it's stated in the first post of the CM11 thread that you shouldn't be using dual recovery. If you read the thread further, you'll see that it is recommended to use the recovery in DooMKernel to flash. And this requires unlocked bootloader.
Anyways, you can try using Flashtool to flash a stock firmware. Might be able to recover your phone.

If your BL is locked, you cannot install CM.... coz you cannot install a custom kernel. you should rebuild your phone using SEUS to put a good ROM.
Then you can put whatever ROM you want for LB and root it. but no custom kernel.

Hi there,
Is there any way to get root access without unlocking the bootloader. I found some ways in XDA but nothing is clear.
I would really appreciate if you guys can send me a link with a clear tutorial of how to get a new ROM without unlocking the bootloader.
I just got my Z2 which is sim locked (UK) and I can't unlock the bootloader from the official page.
Many thanks,
tux

You can download a Generic FTF and use flashtool to flash it to your device
Once you unlock your bootloader it stays unlock till you relock
You can flash roms n manage general other stuff from recovery

What is the current state of play with the V3 Max and custom roms / rooting? I've just bought 2 of these and we ideally need these upgraded to at least Marshmallow and possibly Nouget. If there is no progress I may just have to create the root/rom myself from scratch as this is very important (I am a seasoned developer and programmer as day job). Does anybody know where to download official stock ROM for me to begin?
Can anyone help us root this device. We really need your help I have aready unlocked bootloader my device. Really need some custom TWRP or else. Thanks a lot
Hi, I recently got this device, and I was able to root it using KingRoot App. You can install Xposed Framework too as you would install it on any other Android MM device! (just follow the tutorial provided on Xposed thread!)

There is no stable TWRP recovery and I don't see it coming. However there is one TWRP recovery in the device forum that you could use to flash supersu and root. Once rooted, you can reflash stock recovery.
