Hello all. I have been having issues with the HTC youtube app on the Raphael. Running original sprint rom. I am no longer able to play any video in the youtube app. I am able to open the program and search, but as soon as I try to play, I get a "Cannot play this video" error. I have searched high and low for a solution to this; I've tried a couple of so-called resolutions but nothing yet. Any ideas?
edit: One of my friends has the Sprint Touch Pro as well and the youtube app works fine on his. I have tried a hard reset and that seemed to work for a day but then I begin to get the same problem. I REALLY don't want to have to do a hard reset every time I want to view a youtube video!
edit 2: Appears to be a problem with the flashlite cab I downloaded and installed. Did a hard reset and reinstalled all my programs except the flashlite and youtube is now working fine. FYI.

How do I do this? I searched & couldn't find the answer. Thanks.
Same Problem as OP.
I have the same problem too. What program did you install for the flash light? Was it the hTorch? Thanks for the help.
I just rooted my NookColor last night and downloaded the VEVO app. However, when I try to play a video, it just stays on the loading screen and says ''Connection error - retrying.'' In the bottom right corner it shows it rapidly changing between buffering video and loading. It will just stay in this cycle until I back out of it.
YouTube works fine. I tried to reboot and no luck. I didn't know if anyone else had any other suggestions or are having the same problem. Thanks!
Same problem here with Froyo 0.6.6 installed. Looks like a great app. though. Hope someone can figure it out.
Same
Got the same problem, used to work fine before, any help would be appreciated, tried uninstalling and reinstalling app 3 times now
I have noticed that I can play most VEVO videos through YouTube.
Vevo 1.04 works on NOOK Color
Today, my vevo application on my phone said to update it.
The new version is v1.04 and works(plays videos) on my rooted Nook Color.
Try it!
Hello !
Can you please ulpoad the .apk of the 1.04 version of vevo (the new one), cuz it's not actually available in France/Europe and so I can't fint it on the market...
Before, I used the 1.03 version, but with the new one, it doesn't want to work anymore.
Than you by advance !
On my Nexus 9, in the Google Play Store, when I try to watch the demo video for any app, it will only play about 1 second of the video. Anyone else have this problem? Please reply either way. I would like to know if its working for anyone else.
Thanks!
Same for me. I first thought it was WiFi sucking, but its too consistent, its a bug on n9, works fine on my nexus 5.
Thanks. I thought the same thing and I have also tested on the same WiFi with my Nexus 5, both running Android 5.0.1 and it works on Nexus 5. Anyone know if this has been reported?
Ditto. Nexus 7 on Lollipop. Same issue. Tried all the normal debugging methods with the play store and video players.

Ditto on Nexus 9 here also.
I have the issue on my Shield Tablet running 5.0.1
I went into the developer options and unticked use Nuplayer, rebooted, that got it working for a while before it stopped again.
Ticking and unticking that box now has no effect.
Nexus 9 on 5.0.1
I see I am not the only one that has this issue. I did notice that if you hit the settings icon lower right corner of the screen. You have an option to select quality which doesn't seem to stick. But it also has a youtube link that if you tap, takes you to the youtube app and plays the video just fine through the youtube app itself.
Also when listening to music through the google play music app, when it has an option to play the music video, the same thing happens .
I have tried messing with the NuPlayer and AwesomePlayer, rebooting etc. and can only get 1 video to play before its back to not playing again.
I saw that a similar issue was reported to google where no videos could be played but this seems different? Can anyone confirm if its the same or different? and/or if google is working on a fix?
Exact same issue here on Nexus 9. Videos play for about half a second then stop. This happens in Google Play store previews, and Google Music videos. I have tried everything, including restarts, clearing cache, deleting/reinstalling all related apps, adjusting Nuplayer setting, and even factory reset. My Nexus 5 has no problems, so it's clearly a Nexus 9 bug. I tried contacting Google and they gave me the typical 'turn your tablet off by holding the power button for a whooooole 2 seconds....' response. I'm a long time Nexus fan, but I do get tired of these bugs.
Anyone found a solution?
It's not just a Nexus 9 problem, I'd already posted it doesn't work on my Shield tablet and I upgraded my old N7 2012 to 5.0.2 yesterday and it doesn't work on that either.
I don't think there is any solution sadly.
Just uninstall latest youtube update from playstore and it will work fine again.
Stupid google didn't fix this issue yet.
Wow, uninstalling youtube updates actually did work! Thanks!
Worked for me too, thank you
Yup Really puzzles me why google didn't fix this yet.
My back cover was also flexing a bit around middle and upper right (when looking from the back side). That was a pretty easy fix. Now its solid as a rock. If anyone has that problem I could upload a fix on youtube.
Besides above problems, I absolutely love this device.. Imo it's hand down the best android tablet to date, despite these flaws.
If you upgrade to YouTube v10, this will also fox the problem.
If you don't see the update in the Play Store you can download it from APK Mirror.
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/youtube/youtube-10-02-3-apk/
Yes, I can confirm this. Installed latest YouTube update from the Play Store (10.03), now demo videos play fine.
Sent from my Nexus 9
Hello, I came here because I cant find a fix for my problem..
I installed cm12.1, no bugs, no nothing..only one thing..
My youtube app only shows the max resolution to 320p
Normaly my phone can do 480p, witch I am personally pleased
I tried app setings but it wont work.. :/ my phone is a lenovo a328,
with cm12.1 unnoficialy ported from another phone.
And another thing, after I press play on youtube app, starts playing for
5 seconds and then I must press again play in order to work again.
Please can anybody show me a way to fix this things...damn it is so
frustrating!
Hey. I have a sony xperia z4 tablet. For a while ago i rooted it and installed a rom after a while i found out that they didn't work properly. I then installed the official 6.0 marsmellow. At the time i got that i had a problem that sometimes after watching some vidoes it would say there was a problem playing this video or something like that, i tryed clearing the data and all that stuff but it didn't work. For every time i got that error i had to restart the tablet and then i could watch some more videos. After i installed 6.0 i think there has been 2 updates. After theese the error have changed in wierd ways after the last 7.0 nugat i can hear the sound but no video is showing
On the first vesion 6.0 i think the screen froze after a few seconds of watching but the audio kept playing.
On the second 6.2 i think not sure the error can't play this video try again later.
7.0 nugat there is no video just sound.
The quickfix for all of theese seem to be restart the device but i think its weird and i dont wanna keep doing this.

The only way to fix this problem is to use custom rom. I face this problem since lollipup, and havent found a solution. On custom roms no problem at all.
@alex009988
Thank u for quick reply. Do you know about any stable good costum roms? What r u using?
