MicFlip, world's first reversible Micro-USB. - Nexus 6 Accessories

So, my Micflip just arrived today and it works pretty good with the Nexus 6. I ordered the 100cm one.
the micro-USB connector is super nice and doesn't sway while it is connected. Turbo Charging is working like the stock USB cable and it also syncs well like a normal USB cable should. the braided finish gives this "tough" look.
great product in overall!

I thought the crowdfund campaign was still running, how did you get yours so early?

i might need one of these. i swear it took me 5 minutes to plug my n6 in the other night lol

i was on their early bird package. they are still running their campaign because they announced shorter and longer cable length. they now got the 20cm cable and 200cm cable as well. the early bird one was 100cm.

similar reason with mine back then . another reason is, all my USB cables has flimsy connection with my N6 USB port, it's like not fixing properly with the port. so... i gambled, and won

You mean those two little nubs on the metal plug that gets inserted in the phone? Then no, I have manly hands, not little girly hands.

well, i can. but too lazy to do that. but i got other reason to buy the cable, not just because "i can't feel the prongs of my old cable then i need to buy reversible plugs, blah blah blah"
it's just curiosity of trying new things..

But military mechanics can also have dainty hands easier to reach in tight spots (thats what she said)

From what I've seen that's correct lol. The mechanics or UT guys always had dainty hands to fix those generators and 7-tons that never worked.

Besides the cost being high (compared to the 10 cables I bought from Monoprice), you haven't noticed any downsides to these cables? Can you flip either side at any time? This seems like black magic to me.

I pledged a couple months ago and am still waiting for my 200cm cable to come in. They just sent an email on Monday stating they have all the other parts to start making the longer cables, so hopefully they will be made and shipped out soon.
I also pledged on the znaps as well and am very pumped when they finally start shipping those.

I also pledged for the Znaps. I think I've ordered two or three of the Znaps and like sixnof the cable adaptors. With some discounts they offered, I got all of that for like $30USD. Now I'm considering this flip cable.

the flip-able side is the microUSB side, at the beginning, they were designing it to be fully reversible (including the male USB connector), but they hit some problem, and finally only the microUSB is the reversible one.

There are a couple of these reversible micro-usb cables out there now. I just ordered my N6, and I want to order one of these cables, but are they fast-charging compatible?
I read the N6 is supposed to be quick-charge/fast-charge compatible.

You should not that the cable doesnt determine if your phone can be fast charged, but rather the power source (the adapter the cable plugs into)

If you are rooted, you can use this to get a modified landscape Rosie. I did it yesterday and it works great. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1729963
Hyopercel results
Hypercel said that if I wanted to buy the new docks, that I would have to buy 30-60 of them. What ever their shipping pacakge size was for the device. I guess, that could be as much as $3500. Sucffice to say, I dont want 2 docks that bad. I guess I will have to wait for some reseller to make them available. It seems like Hypercel is not going to get the EVO LTE version. They are pretty nice looking though, and with MHL built in too.
As you pointed out, Hypercel only has the thunderbolt. However, on Kidigi's website you will see that they make the EVO 4G LTE docks as of 6/20. It's not a false alarm, just a sit and wait until someone decides to sell them to us. I hope that is soon.
Thanks for the landscape link.

Is the blue around the phone a case? If it is any ideas which case it is? Thanks
Case question
Honestly if you look at the pictures, they must be rendered. The one with a case has no mic hole on the bottom of the phone and the one without a case has one.
Here are a couple blue cases I googled.

choices
Need to decide from this one or this other one I found here
http://www.seidioonline.com/htc-one-series-desktop-charging-cradle-p/bd2-crdhtx1.htm
Would love to see some reviews and pics of these docks. I am looking to get one eventually but would like to hear what you guys think of them.
I bought the Seidio dock and use it at work. Its functional but not like their EVO3D or OG EVO docks that were more form fitting. The good is that the usb connection actually tilts forward/backward in that dock so that the phone leans back against the cradle. The bad is, if you look closely, the right side of the cradle where the phone rests is angled slightly upward to compensate for the USB connection - but it makes the phone not sit truly level, just slightly off. It also doesn't do HDMI out.
Is it better than the kickstand? Sure you don't have to reach for cables every time. But not by much.
Still waiting for the hdmi Kidigi dock. I will post picks as soon as I get it.

So you spent like $150 on chargers? No way could I spend that kind of money on a few phone chargers.
It was $130 with the discount. I figure it'd be worth the convenience factor since I was starting to get annoyed by having to open and close the usb cover all the time when I just want to use it for 5-10 minutes. Hopefully it'll keep the cover from breaking off too. Assuming Qi doesn't lose market share to that other one that is coming out, I will probably still be able to use them for the next 3-4 years at the least. If not, I can always gift it to people I guess.
i just ordered one too.. too bad to get my normal business discount i have to pay for it then when it arrives call CS and have the amount credited back to me.. kinda a pain but oh well even at $59.99 they are a good deal, and free 2 day ground shipping..

Fatboy Pillow Out of Stock
The pillow is out of stock, though the plate is not and it's $10 cheaper.
Is there any difference in quality/charging speed/anything important between the pillow and the plate? Their output seems to be the same from the specs I've read.
Amazon has the plate in stock for $49.99 and it's Prime eligible, but I wanted to see if there was any advantage to the pillow before pulling the trigger on this.
They are the same charger. If you pull out the charger in the pillow, it's just the plate.

Which Qi wireless charger is everyone using?

Just wanted to see what everyone was using. I purchased the TYLT Vu. It's a little expensive bit I wanted one that could charge while being on landscape.
I've got three of those in one of the newer cheaper versions of that call the a6 then another company makes. You'll find it on Amazon. Both of them work perfectly with the g3 in landscape and portrait.

Typically, they're all the same. With the one you posted, its all plastic shell which gives more real estate for the phone to rest on. Inside is just a coil and PCB board. I think there is a YouTube video of someone opening one of these up.
I opted for a smaller profile (I purchased similar for $1 more). I'll be ordering from this one soon - http://www.ebay.com/itm/Qi-Wireless...l_Phone_PDA_Chargers&var=&hash=item2ed4c6f705. And it ships from the US. No long wait time.

Found one here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/UL-Qi-Stand...S_Cell_Phone_PDA_Chargers&hash=item19f0d9b650 ... but I like how the other one seems thinner and I think I would have less of a chance knocking it off than if it was balancing on that puck... Seems there is still demand for them so I'm about to place another order for 100. BTW, I've been in constant contact with the manufacturer..they've been sold out so it will take some time. But since I'm ordering so much, they'll be able to accommodate my order quicker.

I think it looks nice, and made this phone a lot easier to handle. Figured I'd share:

It will obviously interfere with wireless charging, but NFC still works in my testing; you just need to close the grip first. Overall, it's well-made, a big improvement over the old design. I'd recommend it to anyone who likes using a phone this size but has trouble using it one-handed.

You can purchase extra adhesive pads for just this purpose. I've used the same FlyGrip with 3 different phones. The website even has a video on how to remove the FlyGrip safely.
This thread is not meant for personal opinions or telling anyone to get a smaller phone,
so please stay on-topic.
So there is no curved version of the grip that will work with the n6 without a case?
QBKING77 has his on the phone itself in his motox vs nexus 6 comparison video
If the adhesive is strong enough I'm sure it could stick to anything.
Looks pretty interesting, not sure about $30 worth of interesting though. Once I find the right case, this may be the move to make. Kickstand + Comfort Grip is a nice combination.

If it were on Amazon I would consider it for $30 but if I buy it and it sucks then I'm out $30. I think its a little over priced for what you are getting.

Flygrip offers a 60 day money back guarantee.
$30 may seem a bit excessive, but you're paying for a sturdy, albeit plastic, component that frees your other hand while holding a large phone. I've had flygrips on my Notes 2 and 3, and they're worth it. I can hold the phone with confidence that i won't drop it. And they last. I used my same flygrip from the note 2 to the 3, using the extra supplied adhesive (comes with 2 adhesive stickers, and 2 pads to buffer fingers in the clip, and all with a free tpu case). I just ordered a new one yesterday afternoon, and just shipped out this morning. It seems like a gimmicky product, but once you use one, you'll never want to be without.

I understand where you are coming from but there are too many drawbacks right now:
-cost (high but justified if you ignore the other issues)
-Has to be fixed to a case so if you change cases a lot like me it's not practical
-qi charging won't work with it
Other than that its a great concept I would really like one that somehow can be removed and isn't as bulky. I still may buy one and just use it with one case for when I want a stand. I'm still not sure if it's right for me.

You do have some valid points. I tend to stick to one good case until i get my next phone. Cost isn't necessarily bad considering i don't go through multiple cases. I dont know much about QI charging. I was curious about that. Is there a range for wireless charging, or does it have to touch the charging pad directly to get any sort of charge?
What good is a wireless charger if it still has to be plugged into the wall???

I would give this a long in depth response but I'll keep it short. People like Qi charging because you don't plug your phone into a wall. I can literally drop my phone onto my charger and it chargers without being picky. I don't have to fumble with a cable when I'm tired or worry about my USB port wearing put. Yes it plugs into the wall because it needs power obviously but you don't actually plug your phone in just the charger. If you want true wireless charging they sell external batteries that can wireless charge your phone. I have one and use it frequently, in fact I made a OP reviewing it if you care to read it. If you haven't use wireless charging then I recommend that you try it. Its easy and more importantly convenient.

I have too many cases but I always do for every phone I buy. I have 12+ cases currently and I switch between them every day or week depending on how I feel.
The current qi standard can charge your phone withing 6-7mm from coil to coil. Meaning that there has to be <6-7mm between the plastic on your phone, case and charger for it to charge. I have 2 qi chargers and its much easier than plugging my phone in.

We always check the XDA forums. We like to chime in and discuss anyone's questions. We also invite you to contact us directly at [email protected].
We offer a 60 Day money back guarantee. There is NO RISK TO ANYONE to try Flygrip. Order it with the code "XDA" and receive free shipping. If for some reason, you do not feel Flygrip benefits you to warrant the price, then we are happy to send you a prepaid label to ship it back and get your full purchase price back. Honestly, if you don't like it, we don't want you to have to be stuck with it. We definitely feel if you use it properly, you will enjoy more benefits that you can just "imagine". We have had so few returns, that we are completely comfortable offering this. Amazon only offers 30 days for their returns. We offer a full 60 days.
We manufacture Flygrip in the USA, and have employed 18 people over the course of 2.5 years. We are proud to produce it here in NY, and be able to service our customers.
Please remember, Flygrip is a ONE TIME purchase. You can use it on your next device, and the device after that. Unlike buying a case for $30-60, you do not need to get a new one each time. BTW, we provide a free slim case with each Flygrip purchase. You DO NOT Need a big bulky case, you will not drop your phone and you can enjoy the thin profile that all these manufacturers are working hard to achieve. I use my Note 4 without a case, and if just feels great in the hand.
Regarding Qi wireless charging: Flygrip had a booth at GetgeekedNY last year, and Qi was there, and we tested the Flygrip out on their new version 1.2 version, which charges over an inch thick. So it will not be a problem. The current Qi is about 5-7mm distance which can be spotty, but depends on the phone and placement of the Flygrip (some of the Qi receivers in the phone are above where the Flygrip is typically installed, so you should be able to place it correctly). We will be doing a video soon on that and showing that wireless charging will work if you situate the charging station a certain way.
For those who switch cases a lot, here is a neat trick: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXluD3tlWLo
Please read the follow page and the video links to get an idea of the benefits, because really, you can not appreciate the Flygrip until you use it for yourself.

I think I could live without the QI (Turbo charger is boss) but what about NFC? Can anyone confirm it still reads with the FlyGrip attached? Thanks.

With all due respect your product and concept is solid, but the price of your unit is excessive. I use to work for a plastic injection factory as an engineer, and the cost of your materials are extremely low. Your profit margins must be through the roof. Once of the products we made were Toyota car vents, which used more materials than the Flygrip, and cost 17 cents per unit. I understand you have R & D, Marketing cost, and you're probably a small company so you can't order as many products as you like to reduce your manufacturing cost, but your product should not cost more than a Supcase that offers a hybrid case and holster. I think your company would sell a lot more if you cost was reasonable. I would be happy to pay $15 per unit, and would order multiple units, but due to your cost being $30 I would never order one. Something to think about, and it's really cool you join XDA.
For those who like the idea but want something cheaper you have a couple alternatives to the flygrip. My personal favorite is the bunker ring, but check it out.

Airdock 2.0

Anyone know if the airdock 2.0 holds the n6 very well?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2946839
The Indiegogo site says that it works with the Nexus 6. Since it has not been released for anyone to verify, I would trust the maker of the Air Dock 2.0. It is an amazing dock that is built a good reputation, I would not think that they are going to make claims that they can not backup. Ordered my Super Early Bird, will let you know as soon as mine arrives.

The 2.0 version ships in February. I have the original (ordered it from Indiegogo too) and it does not hold the Nexus 6.
The video they have up on the site shows the N6 being used, shows him taking it off and putting it on. Of course that doesn't exactly show us how strong the hold it, but it at least holds...

I won't disagree with you when you say it doesn't work with yours, but I got my n6 on nov 30 and have been using my airdock without issue so far. granted, I would never put money behind it never falling off, but after thoroughly cleaning it the first day with an alcohol wipe it's been working and has never slipped/turned/fallen off so far.
it's not vertical though, I have it on the extended arm airdock sells and it's tilted back a bit.. ymmv
The 2.0 looks cool, but it's going to have the same problem as the original - it's a flat surface and the N6 is curved.
I'm hoping the rumors of the AirDock creator making some type of adapter for the N6 are true.

Nice. Please keep us posted on what you find out. I have the original AirDock, and would rather see if he's releasing some kind of adapter that would work with the original before ordering the 2.0.

And now, I again regret not ordering at the black Friday price. This is a rollercoaster of emotions, for sure.

Yeah, if it's the case that I have to buy a whole new dock then I'm going with the new Tylt car charger, at least that has some flexibility for the future.

Here's the email that I received.
If you are going to be using the Nexus 6, then we ought to get you the Nexus 6 version of Air Dock 2.0 We are just about done developing a curved face for the Air Dock. That curve would match the N6 perfectly and hold it much better. It's going to be a little while before we have these units ready to send out, but it would be much better for you if you have the N6
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
I got my super early bird redemption code this morning and ordered my dock.
Anyone else?

Only thing I don't like about the tylt is there is no place to plug in a charger at the bottom for when I wanna charge my phone faster than wireless and use my quick charge 2.0 charger. Bummer
At $110 I have left the Airdock far far behind. There are equivalent docks out there for less than half that price. iOttie for one, itian for another, and even the over-priced Tylt is less than this. I suspect airDock is not long for this world.
Does anyone have the Airdock 2 yet? Does it work as well as they say it does?
I'm also curious about how stable the long flexible arm is. Does it jiggle a lot?
My Airdock 2.0 finally came in today after a long delay.
It seems to stick to the Nexus 6 very well. I was a bit worried considering the N6 doesn't have the metal discs in the back like the N5 did. Asticker with metal discs embedded is provided, but I'm not sure I want a big sticker on the back of my phone though...
The dock is concave to fit the curvature of the back of the N6. The one downside to that is you can't put the phone is landscape unless you rotate the dock 90 degrees. Since the ball on the mount fits into a 45 degree elbow connector, I haven't figured out a way to angle the dock so it sits level. I may have to play around with it a bit longer to find the right setup.
I can update this post with some photos if anyone is interested.

Did you get a tracking number/shipping notification? Which mount did you get for it? Pics please! Do you have a case? I'm planning to put the sticker in my case...hopefully the sticker isn't too thick, is it?

I added photos to my post above.
Yes, I got a tracking number.
I went with the CD mount as I don't use CD's in my car. I also have the long flexible mount and the standard mount from my Air Dock 1.0 purchase.
I don't use a case so I can't comment on how that works.
The sticker is as thick as a normal sticker.
