is there a fast charge wireless pad availble? - Nexus 6 Accessories

i think Samsung is coming out with one but wasn't sure if one was available on the market now?

For that to happen, the Nexus 6 would need to support the new Qi 15w fast wireless charging standard. Does it do so? If not, a charging pad that does won't do squat.

That's a new standard that the Nexus 6 doesn't support to the best of my knowledge. It's only on the Note 5 and S6 currently but I can foresee it coming to the next Nexus phone

It's not both together. It's just a faster version of wireless charging. About as fast as normal charging (non-QC).

Samsung might be using a similar standard to the 15W qi charging that should be making its way to other phones shortly.

That may be true, but it would still not even charge as fast as QC2.0. You have to remember that Qi only has a 60-70% efficiency. Going up to 15W even with 3 coils will have the same efficiency.

For sure I know that the Tylt Vu isn't trickle charging too well. It gets to 100%, when it decreases, it charges again. So I constantly hear the charge sound again.

Actually if you check the reviews on here and amazon, they are pretty good. These chargers aren't that complicated, no point in paying more.

Nexus 4 orb
The nexus 4 orb charger works great with the Nexus 6. Charges to 100%, stops, then starts up again at around 96%. However, this stop/start charging cycle does not make any noise.
I did notice early on that my Nexus 6 would hit 100% charge, then completely stop. This was on a custom kernel (Franco), but once I replaced that with a different kernel (leanKernel), wireless charging started behaving properly again.
the Choe keeps it at 99 or 100, basically always charging....no extra sounds here either...IMHO works great.
and through a Ringke Fusion case
My question is this something to do with the nexus or all QI phones in general? Do they normally goto trickle charge? If so google should fix this, id imagine this cant be good for the battery actually really bad for the battery. Going really low or really high wears the battery more than keeping it in more of the ~30-80 range. Yo-yoing like that cant be good for the battery.
I have these too coming, will update with how they work

I have a qifull wireless car charger and on rides home from work when battery is at about %50, my phone temp will go up to 120-130f. This is with Franco Kernel set to Power Saving Mode, and even with the screen off. It's always done this with different kernels ect... I read somewhere that this can happen if the phone is not able to properly align with the coils?

charger stolen

I'm an idiot, I left my charger at work. Is there another compatible charger I can buy or do I have to drop $35 for the turbocharger from Motorola ( I know any mini USB charger will work but I don't wanna wait 5 hours.)
Yeah there's a good amount now, just look for Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 compatibility. I have the Tenergy one that was cheap and works great.

They are all great alternatives and don't look to be quite so blockish as the motorola one is
I got this since I also wanted to get a car charger...$25 for the pair, multiple ports.

I'm a firm believer in Anker products. I now buy only Anker chargers and cables. They have Smart IQ, which automatically adjusts amperage based on what the device can accept, so you will always get the max charge. They always get close to 5 stars on Amazon. Actually, they are the highest rated chargers you can get.

If you want to use quick charger that's fine with me. My anker charger is pretty quick as is. I've heard that quick charging may eventually hurt battery life in the long run, so I choose not to use it. I don't need quick charge because I don't even use my phone a whole lot to begin with and rarely go below 60%. Plus, I have a charger handy wherever I am. (car/work/home/portable charger)
I have the Qualcomm one off of Amazon and I honestly believe that it charges quicker.

Wireless chargers

So it seems that the wireless charger Samsung offers is "fast". How fast is it compared to 3rd party wireless chargers? Anyone know of any 3rd party ones that are peppy?
Did you read/find the specs for the official Wireless charger ? (I've not)
The only thing I've read was the S7 is quicker to charge than the S6, supposing with the same charger.
I've never clearly read that the S7 is Qi compatible, and I hope so, because I've a lot of Qi charger here
But I've seen that some processors have an impact about wireless chargers, I hope that the quicker charge is compatible with standard Qi charger (maybe it's one of the last question I have before pre-ordering ! )

That's more like the input voltage because 10W is 5V @ 2A which most QI chargers run at, but the wireless chargers lose a lot in the transfer.
Now maybe some chargers out there output higher but the specs on the Samsung chargers all seem to output at 5W.
Its the output, there's even 15w wireless chargers out there.

If you guys are looking for a wireless charger for the car (I highly recommend one, makes life so much easier) I got the iOttie onetouch Qi charger. I love the thing, Super secure, 1 touch insert and removal (1 hand, some require two hands to place). There are other competing ones to check out, but definitely look for one with one handed operation.

Any information on the new wireless chargers? Seeing as it's $90 vs last years model with can be had for much less, is there that much of a difference?

With the Nexus 6P, the charging cables are USB C on both ends. Are the samsung cables the same way? Are these wireless chargers USB C or micro usb?

I have 3... Great so far. One at work, one at home, one with my gf. I think they have to compete with the samsung chargers that are flooding eBay.
This is the one I use myself on the S7 Edge, it does fast charging and uses a USB-C cable:

Its best advantage of galaxy s6 , s7 and and galaxy edge model have a wireless charger .
I was looking for a Qi "Docking Station" and found the Samsung Qi charging stand "open box" deal on Amazon and could not pass it up at $25 shipped. Only had it 24 hours and seems pretty decent on an S6 Edge Plus. Uses a standard micro-USB not the USB-C.

When I got it the seal on the factory box was opened, but the unit appeared brand new, came with everything else sealed and even had all the protective wrap on it.

How much slower do the 'fast' wireless chargers charge it vs the stock usb c cable charger? Last time i tried it was on my S5 and its so much slower than charging with a cable that it just wasnt worth the minor reduction in hassle of not having to plug in the cable, but if it was charging almost as fast then it might be worth it.

Ok I found something on the S7 Edge saying 9% to 100% took just over 2 hours on fast wireless and 90 mins with cable. Not too bad but cable still over 33% faster. I think they said the s8 had slightly faster wireless charging than the s7 but didnt say by how much or provide any data on it.
In this review of the new wireless charger it shows that its plug is rated for both 5V at 2A or 9V at 1.67A, so it should support 15 watt charging, for QC 3.0 speeds. Wish they weren't $90, I need two of them...

Qualcom quick charge wireless charger?

Does this exist? The usb port on my phone is very unreliable. The $15 block is wired, it works great especially with a kernel that supports USB fastcharge. It charges the battery in about an hour from 15%.
The Nexus 6 does not support the latest fast charging on Qi wireless chargers. In the car, wireless charging can't even keep up with the drain of screen-on navigation and streaming music over bluetooth for me.
QI Fast Charge is not supported by the Nexus 6, I have one, charging at standard rates

The Nexus 6 does not have Quick charge capabilities using the Qi Wireless Charger. It only supports the slow wireless charging.
Even if you use a QC Fast Charger Wireless charger, it will still charge at 5v @ 1amp or less. My Nexus 6 usually does 600mAh and it takes a while to charge.
