has anyone gotten this to work yet, especially on a custom ROM? I've tried CM12, CM12.1 and AOSPA 5.1. no dice. I've tried unrooting, installing different version google play services, nothing works. I'm more than happy to use the new Android Pay app, but if thats a no go, then why did the Google Play Services update have to break my ability to use my phone for tap-to-pay on Google Wallet?

I seeing the same thing on CM12.1....Android pay seems to hate this rom for sure lol. I'm hoping they fix it or someone finds a workaround soon.
I'm having the same issue on Jasmine 8.0 with stock kernel.

I did a little experimenting this weekend and here is what I was able to do with Android Pay.
1. KDZ'd back to 23C
2. Installed Android Pay and set it up.
3. Rooted 23C and added TWRP.
4. Installed XPosed
I have not had the opportunity to actually try the Android Pay in an actual transaction yet but I can add and remove cards at will now. I'm thinking there must be some parameters possibly in the buildprop file that the Android Pay doesn't like with Custom roms.

I will not accept being required to have a lockscreen enabled, and I do not like that they try to avoid running on rooted phones.
Google Wallet is still working fine on my rooted stock KitKat vs985 and I disabled automatic updates for Wallet before Pay could replace it. I'll see how that goes.

Nope! The app will install on almost anything now. The problem is Tap to Pay won't. Go into settings and click about and it says Tap to Pay and underneath it will say unavailable or not supported or something like that. I already uninstalled it. Waiting for a work around
I been trying to update the app the proper way as I'm still on MDK by changing the build.prop but for some unknown reason after I change the build.prop and reboot I get the samsung custom unlocked screen then the dreaded black screen. Can't figure out why this is happening. Permissions are set to rw - r- - r- -. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to update directly and lose my NFC pay abilities. Thanks!

I took the update on my Galaxy Note II (Sprint), and my Wallet has gone from unsupported, but functional, to "Unrecoverable error -- Falied to upgrade your device PIN to the new PIN system. Please reset Wallet." Of course resetting Wallet, or even reinstalling keeps on coming up with the same error.
I just learned that the "tap to pay" reads "not available" in the settings->about menu. (thanks jimmypop13) It appears that we have received a neutered version of Wallet. What a bunch of crap. Maybe the hacked version is still the only way to make a purchase. I wonder what would have happened if I would have modified my build prop to a Nexus, install Wallet, and then change the build prop back. Maybe the new Wallet doesn't check after the install and it would work.

I remember from my Gnex days that you had to be sure to reset the Google wallet app before updating/resetting/flashing a new ROM. If you failed to do so, it broke the secure element and you were pretty much screwed... Hopefully that's not the case for any of you having trouble.
I can tell you that I have it updated and working just fine on my VZW S4. Rooted and running the Google Edition ROM 5.9 (port from i9505) from the development thread. Status says tap to pay is active. Took it down to the gas station, bought a 6 pack and used my phone to pay.
Hey I FINALLY got tap to pay working with the new wallet on cm10.2. I had to install the new modified apk from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45699789&postcount=3244. You just need the modified wallet apk, cm already had the correct nfc libs. ALSO, I had to edit my build.prop to the galaxy nexus one where product.model is galaxy nexus, Product name is yakju, and product.device is maguro. Then I rebooted and wiped wallet and when I opened, i clicked settings, change account and it wiped the app, then picked my email again and finally tap to pay showed up AND finished setting up . Without changing my build.prop the tap to pay setup always failed. I just changed my build.prop back after setting it all up and it still seems to be working

If I'm not mistaken if you leave your build prop with another phone in there the play store will not show apps available for your phone but the one listed in your build prop. That may not matter to you but I thought I'd get that out to you in case you didn't know.

Tap to pay doesn't work for me, just tested it on mine running MJ7 rooted with SuperSU preserve from MI1.
I wish junior members would spend more time searching before they post.
Verizon does not allow "Tap to Pay" to work. The function is blocked.
You need to root and go through one of the methods to get it to work.
I have Version 2.0-R1333-v14... running on MI1.
To get it to work, I used a combination of methods from two different threads.
I used the wallet installer with the exposed framework to remove the region and root check.
I used the instruction from this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303325&highlight=wallet
And got the exposed wallet hack installed. At step 12.
I took the zip from this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2454971&highlight=wallet
I manually installed all the files by following the script in the zip file.
Then I followed #13 on.
I will post more detailed instructions when I get a chance.
You can get 2.x to work it's just a pain.
Almost there
I am on stock MJ7 with the root that the member "open1your1eyes0" posted. I thought I would play with Google Wallet because it updated today for me. I have done the build.prop name change game several time with the "unsecured element" message every time since rooting, even with frameworks. I edited the build.prop again, restarted w/framework mod checked, installed Google Wallet off the play store. It worked for the most part without any issue and the tap-n-pay let me set it up. I ran into issues after it let me turn on tap-n-pay. I get the message, "Tap and pay setup failed- Unable to set-up Wallet for purchases. Wallet is having trouble setting up tap and pay. Please try again. This may take a few minutes". Under that message it shows my debit card and a "change tap and pay settings". and it as "Tap and pay Unavailable (NfcPaymentSetupFailure: 1) in the "About" menu. Not sure how to fix this but it is way further than I have ever gotten with Wallet.

That's not wallet for MJ7. It's wallet for deodexed 4.3.
If you know how to make Wallet work with tap-and-pay on MJ7 (which is what this thread is about) then several people would be happy to hear about it.
Why would I want deodexed 4.3? I don't mind losing a little space on my phone that I can easily get back with an sd card.

so yea lollipop is here, but due to some circumstances rootcloak is no more not even usable via cydia, so has anyone found a stand alone app like rootcloak? as the bright house tv app is now rendered useless. ;P
I would also love to know when a solution comes along. I love Lollipop but I was using Rootcloak to be able to use MAAs360 on KK, so no work email right now.
I need root due to being on the N5 that unfortunately needs root to mod the sound system to be usable in situation...because I guess Google was unwilling to address a very widely know issue with their flagship phone. Ugh!

Man, I know how you feel. I have a game that could only be blocked with Cydia Substrate and RootCloak Plus... but I'm not sure Cydia will ever be updated for ART/Lollipop. So... we may be screwed for a very long time.
Your right he has long left development when most used x posed. And with Google's new security it will be almost impossible to hide root.
Any news on this? I m still stuck on KK, Root Cloak doesn't work properly on Android L, at some point the app will just gives FC. Any other alternative?
I'd really like to know this as well. Overly paranoid corporations these days seem to be implementing root check security thus stonewalling anyone with a rooted device. This puts just about everyone running rooted Lollipop at a huge disadvantage when trying run anything from banking apps to games.
We need to put up the bat signal or something and call all devs here on XDA to arms bc this really sucks!
Rootcloak on Xperia Z Lollipop stopped working too. Hopefully someone will come up with a fix soon.
Helllllp developers
Still no luck till today?
This is what I'm mostly missing on my OnePlus One. Can't use my mobile payment app (UGO Wallet) without something like root cloak Wonder if there's a quick and easy way to unroot when I want to use it, an re-root when I'm done using the app.
Fastest way I have this moment is to unroot via SuperSU, then re-root via TWRP.

MrElectrifyer, I might have a solution for you. I was in the same boat as you. I am now able to use UGO Wallet with root. Result could vary because of hardware and OS.
My phone: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
OS: Android Lollipop 5.1.1
Custom ROM: [ROM][G920/5 ○ 5.1.1 ○ 29AUG] XtreStoLite Deo-Mod Edition 2.3
Install xposed Framework and RootCloak v1.3 (Do not use v1.4 it will crash the UGO Wallet app)
1. Open RootCloak, Add/Remove "com.ugo.mobilewallet"
2. Clear cache, clear data and force stop UGO Wallet
3.Restart phone
You should now be able to get pass the root detected when UGO Wallet app is launched.
I encountered one more in app error, which was device hardware incompatible because I was using a US ROM. I simply edited my build.prop file to a supported Model number "ro.product.model=SM-G925W8"
Best of luck
Apparently it supports lollipop 5.0+ now: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-rootcloak-completely-hide-root-t2574647
I have searched and tried several things but I can not seem to fix a Google play issue I am having. After I updated to the Global Update 4.03.605.2 710RD, I have not been able to download certain apps from the Play Store. I get a message saying "This device is not compatible with this version". And these are simple apps like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks (I like coffee... a lot). Here is what I have tried so far but to no avail:
1) Using Root Explorer, I edited the Build.prop file to change the resolution from 320 (which is a normal resolution but I gave it a shot anyway) to 240. Cleared out the PLay Store cache and restarted the phone. No luck.
2) Edited the build.prop file again to change the phone to a Nexus S and the manufacturer to Samsung. Cleared cache and rebooted. No luck.
3) Used Market Helper and tried several different options. No luck.
4) Used RootCloak. No luck.
Attached are screenshots of the specs for my phone, including the build.prop. Any suggestions?
Are you using a stock ROM with only root added? The official Global update is 4.05 (it's an OTA patch, not a full system update), maybe try to apply it and then try to check the Play Store again?
Try changing the dpi back to 320. Changing the dpi often "breaks" compatibility.
Are you S-OFF? I would follow the full downgrade/upgrade guide in this section and get it to an official version (4.5.605.14) or at least reflash the full RUU of the version you have... Once you get it up and running and signed into Google Play, give it some time for all the services to update (Play Store updates automatically after first opening/closing) and load something that forces Play Services to update like Hangouts. Then do a full update of all embedded apps and give it 10-15 minutes after that for all the Google services to update, restart and try download the Starbucks app (ONLY, no other apps).

No, it does not. Neither Google Play or the app knows your unlocked or S-Off.
So you are saying that completely stock, no custom ROM, changes to build.prop, or root, and these apps are still listed as incompatible?

Really not sure what to say, recovery would not be relevant (although on a different note, TWRP is recommended over CWM)... Compatibility typically looks at setting from build.prop to verify model and relevant data like PPI and size of screen, and Play knows your OS version already.
Unfortunately I no longer own a Rezound so I can't confirm any of these issues.

Starbucks, at least, requires 4.1 or higher. That is stated in the description. This may be the limitation on the other app as well. Be sure to check that next time both were updated recently and probably had a feature added not compatible with 4.0 and lower.

I think your missing the point... If it requires Android 4.1 or higher, they are using certain APIs or something else in the OS that didn't exist in previous versions, there is a reason its marked as incompatible. You are better off to look at one of the APK repository sites and grab an old version of the app.
Don't mess in build.prop unless you really know what you are doing.

Your best bet would be to flash a JB rom. Most of the 4.1 and 4.2 ones work fine with no issues on this phone.
So basically Android Pay works, for me at least, while I'm rooted. I don't use it but was curious to see if it would work or not while rooted but surprisingly it does, unless I'm missing something. Just thought I'd share this.
So details? like rom or software state, xposed, rooted, etc..

What do you mean by it "works"? Works as in you can open the app or works as in you can add cards and make payments? How did you root? The new systemless methods or the old fashioned way?

What do you mean by it "works"? Works as in you can open the app or works as in you can add cards and make payments? How did you root? The new systemless methods or the old fashioned way?

I can open the app, add a debit/credit card. Haven't tried to make a payment since i never used it but I'll try to purchase something. And I rooted the old fashioned way.

Your screen shot doesn't show any cards added and until you use one you can't say it works.

Judging by the fact that you can't even open the app while rooted, you can say it's definitely something.

If only there was a way to obscure identifying information in a picture. Irregardless your claim is invalid until you make a purchase. It will fail.
I'm able to pull it up and add cards on my rooted phone as well but I highly doubt that it will work for a purchase.
Running Pure Nexus Rom with the old root method.
Several users reported Android Pay working for adding cards and for completing purchases on Cataclysm ROM with systemless root, FYI.

This is wrong. I can verify that I can open the app while rooted, and google will even send me an email saying 'You set up Android Pay on a new device' the first time I open it. But of course, I cannot add a credit card.
It works fine with root and xposed on every rom I've tried. You just have to add the cards before rooting or installing the xposed framework. If you unroot but xposed is still there it won't work. Once the card is added it will work if your rooted or not. The check is only done while adding it.
If you use systemless root it works, that's been known for a while.
Opened and failed after trying to add card
Sent from my Nexus 6P using XDA Free mobile app

Not true, you can use the app for rewards cards, you just can't add debit/credit cards.
I am rooted systemless, stock ROM but no mods uet. I altered doze settings only.
Android pay worked for me today to make a transaction at the food store. Curious if I can edit build prop and have it still continue to work.

That's a lie..I can and have always been able to open the app while rooted. Now, as far as doing anything worthwhile, you know like adding cards or making payment, nope.

Sorry, I have to be that guy. My OCD is going nuts.
"Irregardless" -
is a word commonly used in place of regardless or irrespective, which has caused controversy since the early twentieth century, though the word appeared in print as early as 1795.[1] Most dictionaries list it as nonstandard or incorrect usage, and recommend that "regardless" should be used instead.

This is false. I was running Chroma with systemless root, I was able to add cards to Android Pay, and then I installed Xposed. Android Pay opens, but when I try to actually pay I get an error that Android Pay can't be used at this time. I even had the no policy check module installed.
