Is anyone feeling adventurous enough to test this out? I'm interested in having lollipop, but I'm always skeptical of a site I've never seen before.
http://www.lollipopupdate.xyz/tag/samsung-galaxy-mega-6-3-sgh-i527-lollipop-rom
I am not sure about that site either. I looked at http://www.lollipopupdate.xyz/tag/oppo-a31-custom-rom, because i got a OPPO A31 from my friend who came back from china, i am try to figure out how to install google play store. but after installation, and try to run google play store. it will crash all the time, as original rom don't support google play. since it is a model is for mainland china only, therefore there is not international roms either. I am still trying to figure out how to make google play store to work.
In the steps it keep mention to download apps from google play store, which is impossible with original rom. also OPPO use Color OS, which is not mentioned at all. so i doubt the site is legit. I mean the steps don't seems legit at all, because if it is legit it should tell you how to make google play store work first.
also on the top of page it mention inspire by xda-developers.com, but I can't find a single post about OPPO A31 here at all.
Thank you. I'm with you. There seems to be no supporting documentation as evidence that this method works. As far as I know we're still stuck with KitKat and Xposed as our only options, right?
Thanks for replying so long ago, and I apologize for my late reply. I happened across it while googling to see if we had a lollipop option yet.
If you're trying to get the playstore to work you may need a gapps (Google apps) package to install. I know very little on the topic at this time. I quit tinkering with my phones a year or so ago due to business needs, but now I'm getting antsy again. Gapps should be what you need for the playstore apk to work, but I'm not sure what version you would need or if that's the actual issue you're facing.

I have tried installing gapps on my Oppo A31 and Google Play crashes constantly. Have any of you managed to install a different ROM on this phone? Maybe something based on ParanoidAndroid, as they seem to support many other Oppo devices.
Any help will be appreciated,

Hey guys,
Could someone post the updated version of the nook app? It's not available from the canadian market. And yes, I know this will not work on the stock nook. I installed honeycomb within minutes of buying my nook. Also, I'd like to use the app on my n1.
Thanks a bunch,
Samuel Maskell
I would also really appreciate that .. specially due to the fact that it is only available in the american app store. This is just crazy why I cannot get it in europe.
thanks in advance
it does show for me in the web market Nook 2.5 and i'm not n the US
but i'm on Eclair, and i dont have access to wifi here at work, so i cant try it

yes, but when you click install, it will say "this item not available on your carrier"
I just answered my own question without even realizing it in another thread..
market enabler!
why haven't I been using that all along?
I used to use it when we didn't have paid apps in canada(seems like ages ago now) but I didn't even think about the fact that it would let me download US only apps
managed to find a really old US sim.. and it worked straight like a charm.. downloaded and installed straight from the market
most likely because they can't sell ebooks in non-us markets

Attached v2.5 Nook APK below. Not sure if it works, no time to test it at the moment.

Thanks, been hunting all over the net for this. Works OK on my Pandigital ereader (Canadian)
You're welcome. It works on the Nook Color with Gingerbread perfectly too.
Hi, I saw that ZaneChua has already uploaded the file. But just for future reference, you can access and download stuff from the US/other countries in the Market if you download "MarketEnabler" and fake your provider.
Thanks for the tip. Didn't know that. ^^

Thanks - I had found a 2.2 version and I was not impressed, but this version is much better!
Is there a later version or is that the latest? I'm not sure I'm quite brave enough to root my my tab to use market enabler :-(
Thanks again.

Thank from me 2.
I was wondering if someone could help me with this question. I am considering buying one, but I want to know if you are able to install the navionics app? It didn't appear to be availabe on the flyer due to the resolution, but it is available on plenty of other HTC devices.
Any help would be greatly apreciated!

Not seeing it come up in the market when I search. Sorry dude.
Thanks. I guess I'll be waiting a bit. I have heard there is a way to download it and force an install, but it would be easier just going through the market.
this is the one reason that app store is still surpassing android market. All apps work on their devices. Isn't android 3.2 supposed to fix this?
Does anyone know if there is a way to see what is available in the android market for a specific device? I have quite a few apps I like on the iphone that is keeping me from making the jump over to android. I would love nothing better than to get away from IOS, but as for the apps I commonly use, I would like to ensure being able to keep them.

The Jetstream is running 3.1, not 3.2
Also, I just installed 3.2 on my Xoom today and still no Netflix, although that might be due to the CPU type.
Would someone mind looking in the travel category on the jetstream andriod market place? I have read it doesn't always turn up in the search. It is supposed to be able to work on any Android OS greater than 1.6 with an SD card, but is just not certified on anything but the Samsung Galaxy Tab (which is because that doesn't have an SD card).
Thanks again for the help. I am itching to buy this thing, but I hate to have to return it if it doesn't work.
Checked the travel section, no go.
I assume you're talking about apps like this one from Navionics? If so, it's not available for the Jetstream, possibly not tablets in general.
On the possibly bright side, there's another marine mapping app called Marine Charts HD that is available for the Jetstream.

It's not showing in the market... Hopefully the support it soon as it's on my mandatory app list.
Sidenote: Love the Jetstream so far, would def. recommend.
I got a canned response from Navionics customer service. They still say that it is supposed to work on any device with 1.6 or greater that has an SD card.
I think you can download it onto your computer, but this will be my first android device, and I am not sure how you install apps from a PC onto the android OS. If you can load it on the SD card and install it on the device, it might be available.
Also, when does 3.2 come out? And when does the Jetstream get that upgrade? Isn't that supposed to fix the problem with apps working on varying screen resolutions?
There is a navionics apk file that supposedly works on some tablets. I don't know if it works on honeycomb, but if anyone wants to try it, I'd love to know if it works. I guess you just google navionics apk, and install it. If it works it will let you download the charts.
Post a link to the apk, I will install and let you know the process / results.
Sent from my HTC PG09410 using XDA App
http://www.torrentreactor.net/search.php?search=2&words=navionics-apk&lang=
I don't know if this is a good torent link, but it is the first one that came up when I googled it. I was going to download it myself, but I still don't have anything to use it on.
I just downloaded an apk for the east coast. It loads, looks great, but doesn't seem to be pulling gps location, which basically renders it useless. I'll reboot and try again later when outside.
Note: I own this already, so downloading the apk isn't poaching.
Great! Hopefully the kinks will be worked out. I will be purchasing it shortly, but still waiting on a commission to come in before I committ. If this ends up working though, I would be very happy indeed.
I get the impression that Navionics is waiting for Ice Cream Sandwhich, which would lower their development costs. It is supposed to be out October/November. I just hope the jetsteam gets the update and sense doesn't slow it down too much.
Tested it again outside after reboot and can confirm that the gps function is not working.
I'm sure they'll roll it out soon. None of the other chart apps come even close.
Just got an email from Navionics that they now support Honecomb. Anyone care to check if it is available in the android market from the jetstream?
Thanks for the help!

Has anybody in here bought or used the Coolpad X7? I've been searching for a rom or rooting method for this phone and there's nothing.

Eiahhh, I also have a Xiaomi Mi4 and in order to install Google on that I went into Xiaomi's store from the phone app and installed/searched for google installer. Maybe try that.
I don't have my phone yet, wonder what to expect of it. Hardware and software seems good, done a nice bit of research on it.
to buy or not to buy
I'm very interested in this phone. Love the form factor and OLED screen. The only thing I'm worried about is the support for the phone. Like you mentioned, we seem to be the first ones talking about it and there doesn't seem to be any information about rooting, ROMs or simply reviews by other people. I'm also wary after a similar-ish phone(umi zero) encountered LOTs of issues after people received them.
If someone could disprove my concerns then I would buy it instantly.
Well there is a coolpad site for support of the phone and I will have Warranty from oppomart where I bought it, but development seems to be nowhere to be found.

Must be forums somewhere for this phone.....
meh
Think I'm going to get it anyways
Cool UI looks bearable but not that polished. Hopefully can find a way to root it.
@Rod, if you could post impressions once you receive yours, that would be fantastic.

Ordered the mediatek variant. Think the snapdragon sale was a scam...
Will receive in about 12 days...
The phone is also getting released in India so there has been a surge in interest from the indian phone reviewers.
Rooting the device doesn't appear to be a problem but like you said, there doesn't seem to be any ROMs for it.
Yeah I seen talk about the Snapdragon but never seen one or heard of it being built.
Hopefully when the phone gets over to India some Roms will come out. I hear coolui is supposed to be nice though, especially the 6.0 version that's coming soon
Found some more ino on this phone. I think this is firmware and usb drivers, but not sure til i get my phone next week to see what model it is.

Just found this site diearthelloverat. There IS a Snapdragon version, maybe not released from China yet.
http://www.coolpad.com/goods/3571.html
I actually did purchase the snapdragon version.
Will arrive in about 10 days.
Good for you. ?. I wonder what one got the better performance.....
Finally got my x7
Ordered the Snapdragon version. Has 800 not the rumored 801
2.7 gb of ram
Most importantly, Google Services doesn't work on the phone. That means I can't use Google Play Store, Gmail or Snapchat and any other apps that require Google Services.
Also, my sim card fails to register! At the same time, even though the language is set to English, large chunks of the phone is still in Chinese. The provided apps are also all in Chinese making management of the phone difficult. In short, unless I can find and flash the Indian Coolpad x7 rom(which has full english support and has Google Services), I can't use this phone and will have to return it.
I caution anyone looking into this phone. At least, don't buy the Snapdragon version...

Howdy,
So, I have a Toshiba AT200 tablet that uses android 4.0.3 and I'm disabled currently jumping through all the hoops for SSI. In the meantime I been using the usertesting app to make enough money to cover my rent & internet barely. Trouble is, they just discontinued support for android versions older than 5.0 so I need to upgrade it to android 5 or 6. Since I have no real clue how to do much of anything on android other than install and run stuff from the play store, I called Toshiba for help and was told that they don't offer a manufacturer update to higher android versions but that I could easily google an unofficial one that is completely legal.
Well, after the last 5 hours of trying, 3 system crashes, 21 removals of trojans by windows defender and malwarebytes, and I-have-no-idea how many 'surveys' & 'offers' completions trying to unlock downloads; I STILL don't have a working upgrade.
PLEASE help me! I need this done to continue earning enough money to pay my rent & internet.
Thanks,
Robert
that's a copy that I posted two weeks ago in the assist forums and never got a response till today telling me to put it here. I've done more searching since first posting, but still haven't found anything working (and ended up with some gomail.ru hijacker thing which I've tried repeatedly to remove but can't seem to fully get rid of it) so please help ASAP! two weeks is way too long to not make any income... I'm prolly gonna be late for internet this month.
Thanks,
Robert
Why won't anyone help me? Is it unclear what device it is? AT200 is what it lists in the 'about' section in the tablet settings menu, but what it shows up as when I put the serial number into the Toshiba website is Excite AT205-T16I
I still need help with this thing PLEASE! am I still asking in the wrong place?
As I know, the upgrade of androi up to your device. If It announce to upgrade, it means that you can do it. If not, you can't
What? I'm sorry but I don't understand what you tried to say. The Toshiba rep told me to google 'toshiba at200 custom rom lollipop' though I really don't know what that means... and I've tried multiple times but always end up with either a bunch of malware to get rid of or one of those 'complete survey or offer to unlock download' things which never work. I found a site with pretty understandable instructions on how to complete the upgrade and got some kinda rooting tool, but it doesn't help me without having this 'apk rom' that it talks about and doesn't give any links on the instruction page.
Regrettably, there aren't any options to update your device. There are 2 ways to upgrade, either via updates put out by the manufacturer, or via a custom version of android (referred to as a "rom") that is compiled from a source code such as the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) or CyanogenMod (CM). For devices that didn't sell well or weren't of significant interest to the developer community, custom updates aren't usually an option as it takes a considerable amount of time and skill to update a device beyond what the manufacturer puts out due to differences in the system as well as drivers on newer versions of android.
This is probably the most desperate post i've made on XDA. I'm not entirely sure if I'm following the forum rules, so I'm sorry if this violates any.
I've got an Optimus L9, model P769BKGO, manufactured March 22nd, 2013. My current understanding is if I have an L9 that was manufactured after June of the same year, the bootloader is encrypted, preventing me from unlocking it. I did work on the phone a while back, and found that it's running the P760's V10b Europe firmware. The bootloader appears to be set up properly, the screen is inverted and "flipped" horizontally as it's supposed to be according to all the tutorials i could find. There's only one problem I'm coming across.
The next step I can find is to flash the radio and connect to mobile data, leaving it connected for 30 minutes or more. I've tried to flash the radio, and it hasn't fixed the modem issues that comes with flashing the firmware to V10b EO. I have an active SIM in it as i'm supposed to, but I can't flash it to another firmware to restart the process because if I do, I have no working links for any of the tools/firmwares I need. They all either pull up a 404 or just don't exist, for example the "All in One" MEGA links in the more popular bootloader unlocking threads.
The Optimus L9 forum has been noticably dead for a while now, but i don't see any better place to seek help. Hopefully someone here can lend me a hand in finding the firmware versions I need to get this done.
If I have learned anything from xda-developers since 2004 when I got my first Windows Mobile smartphone: yes. it IS possible. And MORESO., where there is a will, there is a way.
That said, I've got a couple LG-P769's I'd like to root, so if I dig anything up that works, I'll let you know. Otherwise, my skills as a developer do not extend to reverse engineering (especially encrypted(!)) bootloaders. Creating a custom ROM is more up my alley, and something I may do if we find it is necessary

I wish I saw this sooner, but I think I can help you out with rooting them. There's something called LGPwn that you might find useful. If it works for you, it'll work well. There's also this one recovery installer that I use, although it's not very up to date... nonetheless, it works too. If I have any custom roms laying around that have dead links, I'll do my best to supply them just in case (since devhost isn't a thing anymore, almost all links here are dead).
Best of luck

While I don't want to jack this thread, I wanted to comment that LGPwn worked well for me and thanks for the links. I am a bit new to all of this, and I couldn't seem to find any ROMS that would work with the old phone newer than andriod 5.1 - thus also taking the chance here to ask given your already very neat help, if, unlike what I believe - I can use ROMS not made for the phone?

I'm suuuuper late on replying to this (I don't mind the bump though), you can use ROMs developed for the p760 as well, although I can't say I'm on familiar territory anymore. My L9 is in the drawer now, since I can't find a way to properly unlock the bootloader. They say there's supposed to be special software available, but that software has since been wiped off the net.
Regardless, I hope that helps.
