so...did u find smthng??
Also very curios? is there a system .prop that can be changeD?
Please do something, i must turn noise reduction off everytime. blq.
any idea how to turn off the N.C?
I noticed something totally strange today on my SGS2.
The noise reduction works great - leaving the phone next to my speaker (playing music) i couldn't hear any music on the other line!
BUT ... after i bought a protective phone cover (made of some hard rubber) i noticed that during a call, the one on the other line can hear it's voice with an echo. Removed the protective phone cover - problem gone. If i put the phone near this cover during a call - BANG, problem reappears.
Disabling noise reduction fixes the problem (even with the cover on the phone) for good, but it sucks that you have to disable it on each call.
There MUST be a way do disable NC for good ...
Title says it, I don't have that option to turn it off. Is it just me?
I think the update removed it..
I've also had more freezeups after the update, along with unresponsive touch screen until you lock and unlock. Anyone else have an increase in these issues?

i haven't loaded the update yet. on mine, withouth the latest 2.08 update, i have an option in the camera settings under geotag, etc, which says shutter sound with a check box. this is disappears after the latest OTA to 2.08?
are you able to adjust the volume down with the external volume rocker and see if that prevents the shutter? although its a lame work around, ihope it helps as its better than nothing ..
i personally dislike the shutter sound and its kinda lame/fake and not really needed so i'm glad they have provide the option to shut this off in the past...thanks for the heads up on this!
correct no more option to turn off sounds
with all sounds disabled/muted it still makes noise
the volume rocker is zoom in the camera app (for those that didn't know)
There has been a bill in Congress introduced in 2009 to require cell phone cameras to "click". Its called the Cell Phone Camera Preditory Alert Act. So far, it hasn't had much traction. Maybe HTC knows something we don't?
crappy fix, grab the old camera, put it in place of the new one, change permissions and reboot
Set up with no sound, then copy the new cam app back, fix permissions, reboot and voila.
POOR method. Restore from titanium might also work, haven't tested that.
make a profile with "Tasker".
when camera app is active, all sounds are disabled.
thats what i do with my legend, using CM7...
but on my evo i can disable the shutter sound!?
Also, looks like it removed mirror app that was tied with the camera app.
do u removed mirror app?
i have it already installed, and turned shutter sound off.

shortcut to the "good" method above would be somebody with the shutter sound turned off can post their preference file and ppl can download/copy that into their camera app directory ...

Hey joey, thanks. Any idea why mirror is missing also? This is with a clean install. When I overwrite my nand backup it works but then native screenshots don't work.
Will somebody post up there camera preferences please.

It's not a "good" method, it's a crappy work around. I like your method better. Anyone got the file?
Shutter Sound App Fix!!
Hey all...I've spent the last 2 days looking for anything to get rid of the shutter sound, or at the least, enable us to turn it off WITHOUT having to root my phone and void the warranty. The ONLY fix that I found, was to download this Silent Snap app at this link: m.androidzoom.com/.../silentsnap-camera_gfij.html After I downloaded it, it took care of that annoying shutter sound, and even better, the app is FREE to download!!! I hope this helps!
Silent Snap
Just letting you all know, that you don't have to use the app every time to make the Shutter Silent...
Just open the app once to turn the Shutter off...but please notice it also puts your phone on silent as well...But once you've opened the app, and exited out of it, you can now use your Volume Down Button to put your phone on Silent, and it will also turn the Camera Shutter off!
I recommend not staying within the Silent Snap App, because after taking about 3 or 4 pictures, it brings up ads, so just be sure to use your regular camera when taking pics to resolve this issue.

Ok, I know that title isn't necessarily clear but I couldn't think of something better.
Does anyone know of an app that will automatically adjust the sound settings based on a timer.
i.e. When I go to bed I'd like my phone to be on silent and then have the ability to switch to a normal sound mode at say 6:30 am, then switch to vibrate at 8am.
I think you get my drift. Anyone have any ideas about if there is something out there or if it's possible?
On another similar note is there anyway to have an app that performs the auto shutdown/boot like blackberry?

Audio Manager has a "scheduler":

I'm sure you have to get the "Paid" version tho

So there is no option withing the camera to always have the shutter sound off like in the Galaxy S?
The shutter sound is still on when the sound is turned off, looks like some morons @samsung simply forgot to integrate it. I am really annoyed by this "feature"
Can someone hack this please?
(or simply add a button or so)
Just go to /system/media/audio/ui/
And move shutter.ogg someplace else. Or rename it. I just deleted it
I think they didn't include the setting because it is illegal for a digital camera to take silent photos in some countries.

How do you do that because I get 'file system is read-only' ?
Ok never mind i just figured it out myself. I had to do a mount r/w to gain access to file shutter.ogg in root explorer.
I can confirm it, it works fine!
Mute turns off the camera sound..I have used this with S2 and just tested this with S3 before typing my reply..works!

Try this, it worked with me
Open Root Explorer - Navigate to /system/media/audio/ui
Mount R/W
Rename shutter.ogg to shutter.ogg.bak or just delete it.
To undo, just rename it back
I found this in a android forum.

How do you delete the file on a non rooted phone without that app?
For rooted users
How to enable on/off button for Shutter sound:
Edit /system/csc/feature.xml with text editor of choice.
Add following lines:
<!-- Enable/disable the camera shutter sound -->
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
Reboot, Voila, now you can enable/disable shutter sound from camera menu. (I'm on BLG8)

I was watching TDKR in Imax the first day it got out then a sexy girl with her snacks comes right in front of my row and I had to take her pic discreetly but suddenly sergeant stupidity arrived and there goes my ever so glorious bright flash and soundful cam sound. She had eye contact with me and smiled and I was like blushing and laughing, something like that will be ingrained into my memory forever. Sorry I just had to share that hahaha....
Hi all, just bought an S3 to replace my old LG 2x, I have a annoying problem on my S3. I'm a teacher so I want my phone to be completely on silent mode while in class but I noticed that notifications seem to keep on giving a sound whilst on silent or vibrate mode. I tried to change in the settings but no luck ? Is there a way to avoid this ?

Found several owners on the net who have the same issue. I installed an app "easy sound widget" and that does the trick. Strange that many owners have this and that Samsung overlooked such a basic setting...
