I rooted (CF auto root) my S6 Edge 64gb (Bell G925W8) the first day I got it and I was able to apply the deep-sleep fix I found on the forums and my phone has been working like a charm since.
A few days ago, I noticed suddently a battery drain issue and it seems like my phone no longer goes into deep sleep. The lowest it goes into is 400mhz.
I noticed that as soon as I disable bluetooth, deep sleep resumes and battery is fine.
I've been searching all over online forums and can't seem to find anyone with a similar issue. I know it's not related to the fact that I'm rooted as deep sleep works when bluetooth is disabled. I tried flashing stock recovery image (TWRP), re-flashed the deepsleep fix.zip, unrooted, rooted again... and I still get the same issue.
I'm at the point that I'm considering a factory reset/wipe... Before I do, would anyone here have suggestions, tips?
Thanks!
I had the same issue... Changing ROM fixed it.

I've had the same issue. Reseted my S6 edge. Phone was fine for a week and now the problem started again. I have a feeling it could be due to new update, 5.1.1. My phone used to work fine before that.

Well, I did a factory reset, unrooted then fetched the 5.0.2 OTA update and my phone is now fine. No more deep sleep issues.

Darn. Problem is back after a week as well on stock firmware (unrooted). I thought the issue was gone! I have to disable bluetooth in order for my phone to go into deep sleep, otherwise the battery drains so quickly.
Model: SM-G925W8 (Bell)
G925W8VLU2AOG2 is my baseband
Build: LRX22G.G925W8VLU2AOG2
What else could I try? Any tips?
I'm in the same boat. No deep sleep with Bluetooth on. I'll post back if I find a fix.
---------- Post added at 12:33 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:31 AM ----------
My Note 4 had the same issue. Clearing cache and data on the Bluetooth process cured the no sleep issue, but the S6 isn't so easily fixed unfortunately.
Whats deep sleep?

I've had this problem for a while even on the original firmware. I'm hoping some whizz in the XDA forums can shed some light on it ?
Randomly, my phone won't wake up AT ALL. It's still running, but the screen just won't come on.
I'm currently on the Litening v1.1 rom, but I think that's inconsequential.
The only fix is to take the battery out and replace it and then it boots fine.
I decided to delve a little deeper. I installed an sshd service so I could attempt to ssh in if it happened again, which it just has. I ssh'ed in and managed to get the log file (that I've attached to this message).
I also got a couple of screenshots showing that the system monitor service had failed and that when the phone was rebooted, something had really drained the battery.
I also took a screenshot of what had consumed the most cpu while the phone was in the sleep of death......
Also attached to this post is the log taken AFTER the problem had happened, and it seems to show me pushing some keys to wake the beast up, but no joy.
Any help gratefully received !!!
Thanks in advance !

I have the same problem but i haven't been nearly as thorough in my investigation because I only got my GS2 2 days ago. It's happened at least 10 times since then. I've been searching forums and this is the first post I've found that seems to be the same problem. Can anyone help?

Umm,,try this..
It may be due to some kinda App..try uninstalling the apps which u installed or used just before this problem occured..
It happened with me too,,just one time though,,,when i installed an app(Night Vision..or something ),,,,i guess it causes some kind of sensor malfunction,,,,
I removed the battery,,,then reinstalled it,,,switched on the phone,,deleted the app,,,Ran an Antivirus(AVG,,,not a good one),,,and it showed me some kinda "suspicious message" warning,,,i pushed the fix button,,,and thats it,,,,
No problems so far..*fingers crossed*...hope it helps.
Thanks, I'm pretty sure it's an isolated problem and I've just been very unlucky.
Phones4U are replacing the handset.
My phone has not woken up out of sleep since about 24 hours ago. It's not shutting down, it's just not re-enableing the display or touchscreen after being in sleep mode.
I have tried a factory reset but that didn't help.
Just in case anyone has the same fault, there is no fix. Send it back.
My phone doesn't wake up sometimes. This morning it happened again and I had to take the battery out and put it back in. It's annoying but the only problem I have experienced thus far.
Update from me.........
I haven't had this issue for a long time now. I am now running litepro 1.5. I also disabled fast dormancy or whatever it's called so not sure which of the above fixed it.
But, what is strange is the problem originally occurred on the stock rom (orange) and a litepro rom ?!?!
But, litepro 1.5 seems to have solved the issue for me.
Now, reluctant to try a new rom, as it's a pain of a problem when it occurs. Hope others find a solution that works for them.

I have found that by installing the free app "Captivate Keep Alive", all of my Sleep of Death issues have been fixed and I'm still getting excellent battery performance.
Unfortunately, I can't post outside links, yet, but just go to the Android Marketplace, and search for it, and it'll be the first result.
did you keep it at 85%, i'm trying it right now but i lower the % to 0. how long have you been using the app to confirm is a temporary fix?
EDIT: so far so good, 30 minutes without a single reboot or deep sleep while i use to get it almost everytime my screen would turn off.
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
I put it down to 8%, and I haven't noticed the battery burning any faster than it did before.
So this is only a sleep of death fix. Not a battery one. You haven't even stated how it works or even how it is improving battery life. Sleep of death has nothing to do with battery. I have neither issue but just saying. Sure people would want to know details vs. Just install this app n hope it works.
I can't really explain the details considering I have absolutely no idea how it works. All I know is that when I first got my Samsung Captivate, it had the same issue, so I tried installing this app on my Prime, and it works.

OK....fair enough...it might even be better if you just link to that app within your thread. Make it easier for others to try out

It seems to only work for sleep of death and random reboot. This will make your battery worse cause it will only refresh for the OS not to go to sleep mode. Sleep mode is the cause of sleep of death and reboot so this works good. Is a temp fix until asus fix it with a new firmware. Just run the app, it will show an icon where the clock is, set your limit to 10-0%. I set mine to 0% because the app will only work to the % you set it up to, afterward it will close itself.

I'm going to leave my prime unplugged tonight with Captivate Keep Alive turned on and hopefully it'll still be on in the morning with less than 5% of the battery drained. I'll update in roughly 12 hours.
Ok, so it stayed on all night, but it drained at about 3% per hour, which is according to advertised rates, roughly 3x the speed it should while asleep.
Ok, first post from a newb to this community. Just got my TF201 last week and I love it. Except for the fact that it wont sleep for even 5 minutes without locking up.
Serial number is: C10KAS...
It shipped to me with Honeycomb and I installed the OTA upgrade to ICS right after the initial setup. I never tried to make the tablet sleep with Honeycomb, so no data available in that column.
The OTA was .11 and right after installing it I realized that the tablet would lock up and get hot when I initiated the sleep function, via the power button. I tried setting up ICS to auto sleep after 10 minutes of inactivity and fount that 20 minutes later the system was locked up and the battery was very warm. Being afraid that I might damage the unit, I started shutting it off after each use. That kind of sucked. Google found the .13 update on the ASUS site for me. Same results with that install. Factory reset multiple times. No change. Bummerface.jpg
This morning, Google lead me to this thread. I installed this App tonight when I got home and was able ( for the first time) to get the system to sleep and recover after a period of 15 minutes. Second try=30 minutes. No lockup so far.
I am recording system activity with an App called System Panel. I will attempt to make the system sleep for an hour next... and after that for the night while I sleep. I'll post as much info as I can regarding the results tomorrow, when I have time.
I don't think this App is a fix, but it might be a reasonable work around until an official fix is issued. So far, working for me.
Also, I have it set at 1%.

Dear all my friends facing the SOD Sleep of Death issue with their Android devices... i found that it is totally related to Wifi Sleep policy related... i just changed the setting last night n now after 8 hours its running fine... no SOD found till yet... i will also be inform u later if i will get my device out of SOD issue... all of u just have to do one thing.
Go to settings>wifi settings>
from the options go to advanced settings
there is one option: Keep wi-fi on during sleep (go to this option)
there is 3 options: 1. Always, 2. Only when plugged in, 3. Never (increases data usage)
u just have to change ur option from 1 to 2 or 3, then i hope u will find that u will get ur device out of SOD issue...
Regards,
Nauman
(sorry for the poor english)
Whenever a new problem arises on your Android phone, it's smart to remove freshly installed apps to determine if they're the cause. Uninstall any apps downloaded just before the problem started to occur and allow the phone to enter sleep mode. If the sleep of death problem doesn't come back, it was likely the result of a bug in one of your new apps. Remove the apps one at a time so you can figure out exactly which one caused the issue.
Since a few days my GS2 (rooted) turns off after rebooting.
When I change battery or put it to the charger phone will turn on, but will shut off after a servable time (time varies).
I tried different Roms but all do the same.
Also chancing battery doesn’t solve the problem (its firmly placed even laying down on the table it happends(.
I`m running 4.04
even when the phone isn`t warm I do have the problem.
Please how can I solve this

All of this started when you rooted your device?
What ROMs have you flashed?
Try JB leak, if you still have problems there you could be talking hardware.

I was experiencing random shutdowns myself on 4.0.4, it did not matter which version (Orange Branded or LQ5) so I flashed the 4.1.2 Spanish version of JB and now the phone is a lot more stable. No reboots.

you need to check in CM10 thread whether any other user faced similar issue.
check is there any app which is eating the battery if so uninstall and check. there are many threads available on battery issue feel free to search
Ive had the same problem with a S2 on 4.0.4. When wifi was turned on, the phone would randomly lock up. While it appeared that it was shutdown it was still draining battery but didn't respond to any button except when holding the power button for a prolonged time to restart the device.
However since Ive been running the the OTA JB update for around a week now the problem seems to be gone. Are there more people who had this particular problem and had it fixed with the JB update?
Flashing firmware always helps.
Factory Reset is also helpful (4.0.4's brick bug present, so read before you wipe).
@op either factory reset or go stockland.

Hi all!
I have installed and uninstalled greenify about 3 times now on my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Sprint, running the new nougat update. I like the app but I will wake up at night and find my phone screen is turned on. I will look down if it's sitting on my desk and see that it's turned on. This can't be good for the screen. This can't be right, my phone cannot be turning itself on for no reason at all. I uninstall the app and it has gone back to normal completely. It also seems to happen when it's charging. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be appreciated as always. Thank you so much.

Automated hybernation - maybe this couses it. I assume you are not rooted.
You are absolutely correct that I am not rooted anymore. I quit rooting my phone years ago. The problem with what you sent me though, is the phone just stays on and it doesn't go back to sleep again. How could that be good for the battery or the screen?.

Obviously not by design. You can try transitioning Greenify to a system app but I doubt that will help. Likely a compatibility issue with your hardware or ROM. Probably best to not to use this app given stock Nougat does a pretty good job managing inactive app background activity. Unfortunately, the most powerful Greenify features are not available on Android 7 given no Xposed Framework support.
Well, unfortunately my phone turned on by itself again last night even without greenify. Any thoughts of where I should be looking for that?
I bought a phone from a user on reddit. I just looked up the IMEI (I got it from about phone) and it says it belongs to a "SAMSUNG I535 Galaxy S III". The phone is a S6 Edge 64gb. Would there be a reason why it's not coming up as an S6 edge? I'm using http://www.imei.info.
The other thing is when I go into recovery mode It says this at the bottom. Is this normal?
"manual mode applying multi csc applied the cdc code: VZW Sucessfulfully applied multi-CSC. Successfully verify for dmverity hash tree"
As soon as the phone arrived, the battery was draining extremely quickly. So I decided to use Odin to flash stock nougat on the phone. It's not rooted as far as I can tell.
Can help? Thanks!

My phone does not go to deep sleep . Im trying to figure out why. I thought maybe it was due to it having multiple csc or phone having that weird IMEI issue. My phone is not rooted. I'm running nougat. I have tried downgrading to MM and Lollipop but each one gives me dmverity on reboot. The only rom that works for me is the latest nougat. The phone is laggy and feel like it's always working. Like low on ram or cpu is being used. Here is cpu spy image https://imgur.com/a/rpvb6
This morning after a full night not being charged. The battery was almost at 100%. It ended up around 10% in the morning.

Phone not going to deep sleep is nothing to do with IMEI or CSC so don't worry about that.
The issue is the wakelock AnyMotionDetector. If AnyMotionDetector detects any movement it will remove the phone from doze. Use amplify to change wakelock settings for AnyMotionDetector.
Or do a full data/cache wipe through recovery and start again see if that solves or improves it.

It's a software issue not hardware. Try updating firmware. Or root your phone, and use amplify/ greenify any cpu auditor to tweak or even titanium backup so you can freeze the AnyMotionDetector see of that helps.

So i have had a look around forums and some mentioned that it's to do with mobile data and Wi-Fi. Some suggest to turn off Wi-Fi and turn on mobile data. Reboot phone then turn WiFi back on.
I also found this on git hub (screenshot) which tells me it's to do with radio/modem. I would try leaving phone on flight mode overnight and see if there's a difference.
With it being a kernel wakelock you can't do anything about it. Try a custom kernel?

That sucks. I wish I could downgrade to MM or lollipop without the dm verity error. Is there anyway I'm getting that error because of some hardware issue? The battery has been changed and the wireless charging removed. I dunno what else could be wrong with it. I may just sell the damn phone and buy a different s6 but I need to stay with Verizon.

You have to be very careful with the dm verity error. Because that is your efs files and folder and if they get corrupted you will have no network permanently. The wakelock can only be fixed with custom kernel.
Have you looked at a different model that can be unlocked to accept Verizon? Not sure how they work in the US as I'm from UK.
