ugh! Favorite contacts List after 5.1.1 update - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

favorite contacts list has always been stuck in grid view. After the 5.1.1 update i was hoping it would it to be changed to list view. Guess not. The s6+ and note5 do have it in List View. My hate for Samsung continues.

[Q] Does 4.1 still force a thumbnail view of favorite contacts?

In ICS, 4.0.x, Favorite contacts show up as big fat thumbnails, which is awful for usability in my case (as per http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=29364 )
I don't have the ability to try 4.1 yet. Does it also force the same thumbnail view, or can we view the favorite contacts as a list now?
It still shows the same thumbnail view as the contract list.
It can support larger images for when people call though. After you upgrade it starts with the same pixelated pictures. You have to go into each contact and set a new picture after upgrading to jelly bean. It let me set then as large as 720x720 instead of the old 96x96.
There is also an app on the forums here, and the Google play store called HD Contact Photos that will let you do up to 400x400 on ICS.

Thank you, but you misunderstand my post:
Thumbs or images of ANY size = bad. I don't use contact photos, so the thumb-based favorites list is not useful to me, and I'd like it to be in LIST view, like in Android 2.3 / CM7.
From what I see, when I go to my favorites it shows the big thumbnails. The settings there only lets you sort by first name or last name. No option for list view.

You're using 4.1, and not 4.0.x ?

Chameleon

Has anyone received their beta verification email to link your play store account yet?

Nope not yet. Looking forward to testing it too on both my nexus 7 and the galaxy tab 10.1.

Me too...it looks really promising.
ETA: Issue resolved. Looking forward to being a beta tester.
Started beta testing today. Their forum isn't up yet so there's no way to report comments/issues officially other than emailing them which I don't think will be their preferred method moving forward.
Expected limited widget support at the start given that the intent of the beta is to flush out fundamental bugs first and there are some for sure. Rotating the device while the app tray is up for example results in corrupted screen. My laggy Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 running Honeycomb runs Chameleon faster than my Nexus 7 tablet does. On the Nexus 7 I'm unable to get the home button to bring back Chameleon. Etc.
Feature wise there's a long way to go too other than the obvious need for more widgets that will eventually come upon the release of their widget API. My laundry list of feature requests is growing including:
- Add ability to use custom wallpapers (ommited on purpose obviously to focus beta testing around main program and widgets)
- Add option to hide tile titles
- Email widget should display all messages, not just unread ones (if you read all your mail you're left with an empty widget with a humorous email ninja reference)
- RSS widget should display images too
- Weather widget should bring up weather animation or some form of forecast upon tapping it
- Buttons to left and right of the bottom dock waste too much space
- Bottom dock icons too large, margins should be adjusted to make bar thinner
- Gesture support sorely needed
- Should allow dedication of some tiles to the placement of application shortcuts, not just the dock
In terms of widget development hopefully at the very least they include in the final widgets for all of the stock google services like Youtube, Calendar, Drive, and Reader.

[Q]Galaxy S3 Japan SC-06D No Widget Tab

How do I get to my Widgets tab?
I just bought a new Galaxy S III SC-06D from Docomo. When I press the applications button I only get an 'Application' and 'Recommends' tab, no 'Widgets' tab (this is obviously Docomo's custom interface since the 'Recommends' tab is just a bunch of junk apps the provider wants me to install).
The only things I have done to the S3 since I bought it are flash it to the newest version with Samsung Kies, change the language to English, and delete the Homescreens and Apps that my provider installed, and make a new blank home screen. I did not and do not want to root the device (despite wanting to get rid of some of the Docomo junk).
I am new to ICS so it is entirely possible I am missing something very obvious.
*Edit* I fixed the issue on my own. While I was under the impression that my device was using the TouchWiz Launcher (the default UI that comes on any Galaxy S III), Docomo had installed their own crummy launcher called 'Docomo Palette UI' which is specifically designed so that users cannot customize anything and have to see a bunch of Docomo sales stuff.
If anyone else ever has this same problem and sees this thread, just go 'Settings' (the gear icon that appears when you slide your finger from the top edge of the screen)-> Home Selection -> And choose TouchWiz home. You should get the option to set it as the default Launcher after choosing it.

Is there anyway to get the Google Phone app to display favorites in a list format?

I want the Phone app to display favorites in a list format like the contacts tab 2 tabs over instead of the stupid blocks it has by default. The favorites section looks like Microsoft's ugly Metro UI and i'd prefer to have a list format. Hopefully someone can help me out here. If not, is there a recommended phone app that has a simple list format for favorites and contacts?

[Q] Google Chrome Tab Grid and Tab Groups

Hello all,
I run Chrome Dev as a browser on my Pixel 3, and have been running the dev build for many years with little issue.
A while ago, Chrome introduced a grid tab switcher view that I liked very much, and tab groups that I also thought were useful for decluttering. I'm not sure exactly when/if these features were added to the stable build.
However, within the last couple of weeks, both features are gone. I do not recall the exact date or version that triggered this. The tab switcher is now just the "stacked card" layout, which I don't care for anymore. The tab groups are nowhere to be found (no context menu option to "open in new tab in group"). I found some similar issues from a few months ago, and followed those steps: I have checked the the relevant `chrome://flags` options, and have forced them to enable if they were set to default (see screenshot).
Interestingly, I also tried installing Chrome Beta and Stable, and the features didn't seem to appear there either.
Anybody know why this changed, and how to get the other behavior back? Thanks!
This is what I did to get "index cards" view back
