I need your kind help. I am in Ireland/UK/EU
I bought THL W6 from Antelife : tinyurl.com /cprnkvj

CPU:MTK 6577 1GHz Cortex A9 Dual Core + SGX531 GPU
ROM:4GB
RAM:1GB
Screen: 5.3 Inch
The phone works fine,but the app store pre-installed in in chinese...so I installed googlplay, it installed fine, but when I click on it It does not open. Although I can install many of the application via 'apk installer' but its really pain to find to apps on 4shared and some local apps are only available on GooglePlay.
I emailed, antelife, and no help or reply from them. emailed THL W6, they replied "We only deal with china customers" So basically there is no support for this phone. and I come across xda developer, although there are many other models of chinese phones here are talked about, but I could not find THL W6 model.
I am afraid to brick it incase I installed wrong image or rooted it incorrectly. I have rooted/jailbroken android, iphones, ipads in the past, but this time I m bit worried this time.
I found another website 4pda.ru/forum/ index.php? showtopic= 400088 and found to be helpful to some extent, but the image and contents are in russian, so not much of help either.
Can any one please help me to root and run GooglePlay store or guide me to right direction.

I am not sure, did you root your phone already or not yet. but its certain you have to root it and install CWM ROM and then move gapps zip to memory of your phone, restart phone in recovery mode and install from SD card "yes" it will install google play and also will fix Location services and will remove other not needed files from phone(only if you want to)
I had made a detailed guide at gurufoxy.blogspot.ie and also a small video just giving some overview, that what is involved etc.

I think it depends from who you buy the phone, some chinese sellers sell the phone rooted and googstore apks pre installed, some even asks extra charges to do rooting etc for you and some even dnt bother doing anything, they only send you the phone as it is(as happened in my case and other previous poster).
I found out after I got the phone that GooglePlay store does not work in China and they have different Appmarket and search such as Biadu over there. So people should make sure this thing with the chinese seller before they placed the order or better asked for rooted and googlePlay store installed to escape all this hassle.:silly:
Can it be that your phone only supports 3 languages,english and simplified/ traditional chinese ?
Then we knew the difference why my app store works, have an multilingual version.

The phone was not rooted, but after searching MTK Droid Root & Tools helped.
That may the cause of googlePlay crash.
On my phone it shows different version ROM than yours, and it does not shows many languages and choices either..
Well, the phone is in great form, its still fast while running so many different apps in the background, but you can imagine it drains the battery fast, but if I turn off bunch of apps, battery life gets better.

No, just rooted and added clockwork recovery to mine. The standard rom is decent once you've removed the chinese stuff from the phone.

To my understanding, the 4 gig ROM has been divided into several areas, such as system files area, cache area, Internal storage area, phone storage area. When you install applications, it will be stored either in the Internal storage or phone storage area. The 2 gig area you mentioned is the phone storage. You can check the spaces left on your phone through "Setting-> Device-> Storage".
For the gps issue, I think this may help. I have thL w6 with 22.10 stock rom.
My problem is regional restrictions in google play.
Cant download very important app for me.
Cracked market from Chelpus 3.10.10 helps with paid apps, but i still cant install some apps because of region.
Lucky patcher with its multi dpi patches doesnt help either.
Did anyone had the same problem?

So after much careful consideration I've decided to post this thread.
This thread is for all those people with the Goophone that isn't like the others. The ugly duckling - so to speak.
I purchased a goophone i5 from "efit" from dhgate.com after watching mayianjay's Youtube videos.

Unfortunately the phone WASN'T the same as mayianjay's and NONE of his rom's work with this particular model, even further I couldn't find a CWM or TWRP recovery.img anywhere on the internet that was compatible with this phone, so I thought I'd help out my new friends of XDA and provide you guys with as much information as possible.
The phone model information is as follows (according to Android System Info.apk).
Android Version: 4.2.1
CPU: MT6575
CPU Hardware: MT6577
CPU HardwareP1: MT6575
Resolution: 480 x 854
DPI: 240
Brand: MZ
Device: E939
Model:iphone 5
Now, if this is what your phone looks like then I have good news for you - as you are almost certainly wondering where to find a recovery.img - See the attachment below. You will need flash tools which you can downloaded here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/private.php?do=showpm&pmid=10599596, alternatively you can try using MobileUncle. For this particular model you just have to have the phone off before commencing the flash with flash tools.
The recovery image provided comes with TWRP and if it STILL doesn't work for you then your only other option is building your own - which can be found reading my dear friend yuweng's post here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1825722&page=1 - There are alot of tutorials on his post and you can learn much on your endeavor to flashing your phone :victory:
Currently I have been unsuccessful installing any roms as I get "assert failed:write_raw_image("/tmp/boot.img")" when trying to install any ROM, which tells me that there are no supported ROMs for this device yet.

I have the same phone too!
Thanks guy for the hard work.
I'm having no problem with my 3G connection out of the box.
But the GPS is not functioning at all.
All you need to do is edit the updater-script and remove those assert lines. That won't overwrite boot.img (which contains the kernel) but it'll allow the ROM to finish its install and you can make a try to see if it works or not. Maybe there's another way to flash boot.img...

Ah I see, I did hear there was a few GPS bugs but they can be fixed apparently, see that Goophone i5 lite rom thread I think this phone has the wrong 3G cell bands for my area (Australia VIC), Even though it says it supports it on the site.. :/ Looks like I'm doomed with the 3G Bug, I've tried copying the APN settings from one phone to another and all. Anyway no problem!

I also have this phone. (Goophone i5 which is MZ E939 model) and my 3G is stuck as well. I did the same thing you did friend - copy the APN's from my samsung galaxy which works perfeclty with 3G and APN's setting. When APN's appeared in goophone menu I was able to listed my GSM providers and I could choose this one I have SIM card inside. Neverthless during the connection I recieve "Unable to connect, try again later"
I did some tests using different apps and all shows that 3G 900mhz is working and is ON. But no success in connecting. It is really annoying when you have your smartfon offline - almost useless
I have the same problem with custom ROMs too. No way to install them - using ROM manager or SP flash tool. - always some error appears.
I tried to install the ROM then it say cannot find path to emmc something like that...

hi, i have recently rooted this phone and i dumbfoundedly deleted the important apk's that includes the UI and home launcher etc
by any chance anyone may help me copy all the stock apk's and compile them into a zip/rar file for me? =[ would be much apreciated as i am unable to use recovery and updates also.:crying:

Just reset to factory setting and it will come back...

Now I see my phone is slower and the playstore opens but gives me an error when It installs some app (error code 110) which fails eventually.

I did the same mistake, someone please help me.
Ok after a bit of research it turns out, efit has given incorrect information about the phone, the phone isn't goophone, its thunderbird i5
Whoever has the stock rom on thunderbird i5 , just follow the guidelines from the link below

Same here, However I'm able to go to recovery menu, I'm using CWM.

I got into the recovery mode of TWRP but nothing I can do...
And even funny is that my phone can't detect the SD card...
So even with a ROM also I don't know how to flash it...

Anybody who blocked phone on apple logo or install wrong ROM or anything please try this solution:
wait till phones battery is fully uncharged then plug the phone to charger wait some minutes and press VOL - (minus) together with power button
After few seconds some menu will appears (more or less RECOVERY look like)
Choose CLEAR FLASH option using "MENU" button...
Phone should starts with factory menu and settings.
I did it about ten times and works perfectly in my goophone e939 or whatever it is...

I have a HDC Galaxy Note 3 Sunny II 2+16 octa core, and i stupidly used mtkdroid tools to flash a different boot.img and revovery .img file to it, thinking it would change the boot screen, i got the message that
- ERROR : --- TotalBytesPerChunk Not Found. Set default Page/Spare=2048/64 !!!
--- Unknown ROM structure, backup NOT possible!
--- ATTENTION! Recovery doesn't suit this phone!

It is stuck in a boot loop, and my pc doesnt recognise it anymore, mtkdroid tools half recognises it with a blue light and jibberish where the model and info should be
and now my phone will not boot, can anyone help please, i'm really stuck with this, i know very little about roms etc, if anyone has the correct boot.img and recovery.img file i would be very grateful

I'm no expert in this area althought I've the HDC Galaxy Note 3 Sunny II 3+16. I think that NEEDROM have the stock rom that you need, even I think they can help you in this problem, I hope so!
I'm always afraid to do anything wrong with my phone like root it, that's why I didn't touch it so far because some tool are not 100% trusty and safe!

The rom run fines for me.
My only and BIG problem that I have is that it gives me low internal memory! It indicates 19GB but when you install 4 or 5 apps the memory is running out of space.
I contacted techsupport ofHDC and told me that a new rom is coming soon with the problem fixed.
Is someone else here encountered and solved this low internal-memory problem?
For me the same problem and the speakers....

Hey!
I have a lenovo P780 after 2014, and i totally bricked it. If i try to install ANY rom (4GB) to my phone the flash tools say (5069 error), no enough space. So i need any suggession, or i begging to upload somebody his/her backup to flash via droidtools, maybe it will helps for it. I installed many roms on it, i partitioned it to 2.5Gb, and it crashed when SuperTURBO Stable FInal rom was installed (probably this rom did the rest of the work).
So please help me

Hi Guys,
I have been going through a android mobile with out camera, and I have found this Indian brand Lava. Its because of my job.
I brought this mobile Lava Iris88s, and they are using an OS named "Star OS". It's soo buggy and I am facing random problems. The mobile was not cheap also. I searched the threads I could not find any help and this device is not added in XDA.
Is there any developer who can help with rooting this mobile with any stock based rom.

i couldn't find any custom rom or original stock rom for this device.
if possible could you upload your phone stock rom. ?

i already tried all those Rom's, its not working with the device. the exact build should be lava_iris88s_2_16_S207_WOC_18F08
actually i tried to root my device but somehow it ended in bootloop, so i downloaded stock rom from similar Android Rom Sites fro this device and flashed it with sp flash tool. that flashing rendered my phone screen into static noisy screen.
then i found a way to revive the phone by flashing IK.img & boot.img from lava iris 88s as instructed in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/help-pls-lava-iris-88s-t3847396
but still there are some issues like slow charging, phone keep crashing, battery showing -1% even if it is fully charged.....
i believe an original stock rom could fix all this issue, unfortunately coudn't find one.
