desperate with bootloop on GF850F
hey guys!
i'm really desperated now, i'm trying for two days to flash a new rom on my phone and troubleshoot the problems.
my phone have a bootloop and i cant break through it. i want to install a custom rom (SM-G850F Galaxy Alpha OzcanRom Aroma Lollipop v2.5 (07.08.2015)) and followed all steps correctly, but something went anyway wrong.
maybe there was a crc error while download the rom, i didnt know it because i deleted the old file and downloaded a new. now i have the problem that i cant upload it to my phone, i tried to update to the newest adb (1.4.2.) (and using this tutorial).. but when i want to push it to the phone, the console output is: "error: closed". so i googled for more information and how to fix that and came to a thread here on xda , but nothing will work.
normally i'm able to handle technical problems, i've rooted and installed custom roms on a few phones.. but this time, i'm feeling like a real noob. i'm sure, this is just a little problem and i'm only to fixed on the wrong place.
if somebody could help me, i would spend a little reward for the hero who saved my day!
What should work always is flashing stock ROM for any region with Odin. This should produce a bootable phone. Then you can go for TWRP and flash OzcanROM.
Keep in mind that you can't install OzcanROM over a 4.4.4 ROM because Ozcan is 5.0.2 based and you need the stock bootloader for 5.0.2 on your device first. This is also done by flashing stock ROM with Odin.
For fast downloading of the 5.0.2 firmware try SamFirm.

Hi there.
It seems that I can't help myself anymore.
Got a prime with JB bootlader 10.4.2.18 and TWRP 2.4.3.0 on it.
Flashed SuperSU using TWRP and, after that, tried to flash
ParanoidAndroid for my device. (pa_tf201-3.10-07MAR2013-190411.zip)
Right after starting the flashing procedure TWRP seems to crash.
(It immediately shows it's splash screen again and gets laggy.)
I also tried other TF201-JB-ROMs but it happens with any of them!
I can access TWRP and Fastboot! But I got no ROM on the device
and aint able to flash one.
After hours of searching and reading it still looks like a Option 3 brick
to me and I don't know what to do next.
Some ppl tell to write the original blob from Asus' 10.4.2.18 stock rom,
others advise against that because it will get hard-bricked. I'm stuck.
Any ideas?
Seems to be solved.
Instead of using my MicroSD-card to install the new ROM I now just
used ADB to transfer the file directly onto the device.
It worked fine for cm-10.1-20130308-UNOFFICIAL-tf201.
I'll try AndroWook_Hairy_Bean_v1.51_FINAL tomorrow, or shouldn't I?
trust me andro wook HB 1.51 is the best at all !
i tried each and every one of Roms and no one can beat HB !
if u can live without changing themes or multi user features Andro Wook is best choice for u ...
must annoying issue in other none stock based Roms is that no one of them can play movies in HW acceleration mode . ( image quality will be very lower in other modes )
u should wipe system before flashing new Roms (specially after CM Roms ) ...
its a little risky but best results will come from it !
sorry for my terrible english

Hello. The problem is with twrp 4.2.3.0 version. Push 4.2.2.0,your problem will end.
So ,im sorry but its a long story. Hopefully someone can help. My note is Rooted Ive been using TWRP. Everything had been fine until 2 days ago. I tried flashing a ROM i found on Goomanger.( I had been running liquid smooth) just wanted to try something different. Anyways it got stuck on a boot loop. Cant remember the name of the Rom. Anyways i was able to get back to recovery, thankfully. But when i wiped and flashed back to liquid smooth it would say optimizing apps, then it would reach a certain number then reboot and star all over again. So then i tried another Rom and the same thing happened. tried flashing back to stock rooted but it would turn on then completely crash and star booting up again. So finally i was able to flash paraandroid 4.1.2 and Gapps, but here is the kicker i have no service (AT&T) says cannot locate network, my IMEI is gone basically the cellular isn't working. Everything else works fine WiFi,apps, camera. Just cant make calls. I really need your guys help please.:crying:
If you have a suggestion please let me know, i hate using an old Iphone

Just odin back to stock. Get a complete factory stock image from the main sticky thread and flash it with Odin and Download Mode. There's a bug on one of the TWRP versions with 4.3-based ROMs that will put it into a bootloop by breaking device reboots. I was unable to flash my way out of the problem and was forced to do a complete reimage which solved all the problems and put me right back to clean-out-of-the-box state, then I reinstalled TWRP (though an older version before the boot loop bug) and re-flashed my custom ROM. The package I used was the stock image and Odin tool all in one .exe, just plug in to download mode and run it and it flashed bootloader, recovery, system, kernel, etc. all back to stock.

Thanks thats what i did, I just basically had to use KIES to use the emergency recovery, then root my phone again. My question is what version of TWRP causes this? cause i used the newest version i could find off GOO. My other concerne is, will it accept or be safe to use a custom ROM? Well i gues ill find out  THANKS AGAIN!
Everyone with the sgh-i717 is having problems with the latest TWRP and the most stable version is 2.5.0.0. Go with that one or you'll be starting all over again I imagine. And don't just stop at the download link in the OP's, read the thread and find out what's going on. The problems with TWRP have been going on for a while and the development threads have a lot of comments about the latest build causing problems. Good luck! :good:
Hello everyone.
As the title says I recently got my hands on a Samsung Vibrant. I have it from a friend who just left the apartment we lived in together for 5 months as she didn't need it anymore. It currently has a MIUI ROM on it and I'd like to change it to sada23's unofficial CM 11.0
The problem is however that my only previous experience with flashing ROM was with a Samsung Galaxy Chat when I slapped Jelly Bean on it which was only released in a few countries. So I went right ahead but found the amount of things I have to do overwhelming compared to when I just used ODIN on the old phone.
I'm trying to tell what the current status is of the phone and this is what I've been able to come up with so far. (also after googling what everything is and does lol)
- MIUI present so custom ROM install definitely possible
- When I booted into recovery mode I saw it has: "Semaphore CWM Recovery v6.0.1.9" (which I presume is outdated)
- BY default the MIUI ROM apparently has a superuser app (which lead me to think that the device is rooted), however everytime I try to use an app that requires root I encounter errors.
I just did a backup using the recovery mode with semaphore cause I saw this is usually a first step in all the guides I've read. However from here on out I am completely clueless on what to do because all the guides were so different from eachother and I have a feeling my phone is in a vague situation. (root/not rooted?)
So I was hoping someone here could point me into the right direction and help me get to CM from MIUI. Thank you in advance.
I'll be following this thread.. kinda in a similar situation. Although a bit worse. I had an old vibrant in a drawer from years back in mint condish!.. last thing I did was root and install recovery. Unfortunately I'm a stooge and without thinking threw a 4.4 rom zip on the phone.. booted to recovery and cleaned and tried to flash.. bottom line i'm in a bootloop now... and I gave up when odin wasn't detecting the phone.. I"ll figure that out eventually, but it would be great to just have a 4.4 Odin tar for a quick and painless install... or at least a tar from a 4.0 with root and recovery to make the 4.4 upgrade easy.
Also would be interested in knowing if the 4.4 roms work well.. Gps will be most important to me since I plan to use this as my jogging phone.
alrighty.. let's get this party started!
Edit - I think the best thing for you to do is odin back to stock then root install custom bootloader and then flash your new rom, I've heard that you can go straight to kk from stock but the guy who posted above me has problems because of that so I would try flashing an ICS ROM for the recovery first, and don't forget to make a nandroid backup
You can find all the files and programs you'll ever need here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1982728 in NOOB_IN_NEED 'S ref thread
Hope I was of some help if I was hit the thanks button

Hi,
i really need ur help guys, i installed CyanogenMod 10.2 (wanted a stable version) on my girlfriends I9300.
flashed gapps found in http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps for 10.2
but now the phone keeps freezing, if its when im updating apps thru the playstore or just trying to import contacts thru the contacts app.
i decided i dont wanna mess with it on her phone and wanna go back to stock ASAP/
can anyone please help me do that? i myself have an HTC One and am not farmilar with all the Galaxy programs like Odin, Kies etc.
i tried to follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/fix-s3-to-factory-unroot-stock-recovery-t2323847
but couldnt get Odin to show that yellow text under ""ID:COM" even tho i have the drivers installed
shes leaving tomorrow for work and i dont wanna leave her without a phone. please help me.
phone got CWM + CyanogenMod 10.2
i wanna go back to the latest stock ROM and recovery.
Thanks in Advance.
Best advice here would be flash a custom sammy firmware like neatrom ect ect.
This can be flashed through cwm recovery just like cm. With custom Sammy firmware you have the best of both worlds. Good looks and good battery.
A dumb question but did you installed the correct gapps for proper android version?

Did you put the phone into download mode?
i installed the correct gapps version for the android, used the CM wiki to get those.
in any case, i decided to go back to stock.
flashed stock recovery and flashed latest stock ROM from SamMobile.com
all working well now.
i followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/fix-s3-to-factory-unroot-stock-recovery-t2323847
without the part about resetting the flash counter, since i dont care about that (phone out of warranty anyways)
Thank you for your help!
Hi All... help...
I have a Note3 SM-N9005 which is rooted. I have been trying to get CWM installed.
I started by using ROM Manager and this just didnt work at all - the recovery partition stayed stock.
So I downloaded the Samsung Note 3 (International) recovery image (6.0.4.6) (non-touch) from https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager.
I used Cygwin to convert to a .tar file and then flashed to PDA using Odin.
All looked OK and Odin passed the install - however when I tried to reboot into recovery my Note3 just gets stuck in a boot loop - the only way I could get it working again was to re-flash using Odin and when it reboots it starts and works normally - but if I reboot into recovery mode it just keeps re-booting!!
Any thoughts on how to fix this or whether the best option is to flash a whole ROM with CWM already packed? Alternatively - any ideas on where I can get a CWM file which will work on my Note3?
Also - now this has started getting messy, any advice on backing up EFS (just in case )
Thanks in advance
So you reflashed the whole stock firmware via Odin and recovery still isn't working? Very strange. Rom Manager sucks and has for years now. Why didn't you just grab either CWM or TWRP (which I find way better for most phones) from the subforum for your phone here on Xda?

Hi es0tericcha0s
Thanks - TBH I have only just replaced my S4 with the Note3 and just set everything up - so didnt want to reflash with a custom ROM so followed the instructions for installing CWM... and failed I did install TWRP a while ago and couldnt really get on with it - if you think it is better I might reflash the whole phone with a new ROM and give it a go.
I think I did download a CWM img file from here and when I flashed it to PDA the phone wouldnt boot at all - from memory I am sure it came up saying it couldnt boot and enetered "Odin mode"... I will have to back up my important stuff and try again tonight.
Any recommendations on a good ROM to play with? Need a stable product ideally as I dont get much time to play
Thanks
I would just restore the entire phone with the stock firmware file and start fresh. TWRP here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494245 As far as roms, I haven't played with the international Note 3 in awhile, but I typically recommend stock based roms for less potential issues (I personally prefer CM based roms, but I have more time and experience with dealing with possible problems than most). I would take a look at AllianceRom if you want to customize a lot on stock based http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2571255 or Omega http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470441
As always, you should read through some of the stuff other active users are saying about it to make sure it fits your needs, but those development teams support a lot of Samsung devices and usually provide solid updates.

Thanks es0tericcha0s - I downloaded the TWRP tar and flashed to PDA - all worked first time... I will give it a go and see how I get on, when I get more time I will do a clean flash too!
Good deal. Lemme know if you need anything else.
