Flash Android via Windows Phone Recovery Tool - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hi all,
I was using the Windows Phone Recovery Tool to revert my HTC One M8 from Windows 10 preview to Windows 8.1, and noticed that to do so I needed to put the phone into bootloader mode and have the tool "flash" (in its own words) the proper firmware on to my phone. I was wondering if it was possible to somehow direct it to an Android RUU instead? Does anybody have experience related to this?
Thanks!

Won't work. Folks have been messing with trying to get Android on the WP M8 for some time now. If it was as easy as what you are suggesting, it would have already been accomplished by now.

I am trying to use 'adb' from the android dev kit but I cannot see the devices, i.e. 'adb devices' doesn't report any devices. It appeared to be working earlier this evening but not any more. I was going to push a rom file to my rooted phone but obviously since I no longer see the device I am stuck. I rooted yesterday and installed the maximus rom but my phone went into a loop of restarting. Unfortunately I didn't backup before I rooted and installed Maximus rom.
Can anybody offer any help? I am using Mac OSX.
Desperate since phone is now effectively redundant

if it didnt help u just reply and we´re gonna look whats next to unbrick ur phone
Hi
Thanks for your reply, I have hit the 'Thanks' button
I read the posting you referenced but it doesn't really offer a solution to my problem.
As described earlier I rooted my phone and flashed a Rom (Maximus) succesfully but on turning the phone on after installing the new Rom I got into a cycle of the phone rebooting without actually getting past the lock screen. My thoughts at that stage were to re flash using stock rom but on running fastboot and plugging into my Mac OSX machine via USB, the phone doesn't show up in 'devices' on the Mac. I have also tried 'adb devices' form within Android Dev Tools and although 'adb' runs fine no device is reported. Of course without devices being avaialble to 'adb' then I cannot reflash!
I have also tried from within a bootcamp installation of 'Windows XP' installed on the mac with the same results, this with 'HTC Sync' installed and therefore providing the USB Drivers required within Windows.
I have tried logging into fastboot using 'power' and 'Down Volume' at various stages of the boot process on the phone but have never seen the phone within devices.
Clearly prior to installation of the Rom (Maximus) I could see devices at both the Finder window on the Mac and from adb devices.
Any help or insight you could provide would be very gratefully received
Ok ok ok dont worry
I had to read a bit and found quit much german threads where they flash back the stock rom
as is suggested u cant flash it with odin...
the only solution i woul suggest is that u have to find a computer running windows
there its very easy to restore the stock with the methods u described earlier in the thread...
hope u get done let me know what happend
=)
The question remains; how can I flash anything be it a hacked rom or an official rom when I cant see the 'device' in both windows and mac osx?
I think what I am looking for is a reason why the phone isn't seen when plugging in via USB. Once it is seen as a 'device' I will be able to flash anything via 'adb'.
Thank you for your continued interest and assistance
ok so u know how the get it back but ur phone is not really recognized by ur computer
but i found a method using the bootloader
the problem is that the instructions are in german
but i think if u google a bit u may find it
Don't know if I misunderstood what you said..but to get into recovery, you hold volume down and the power button when the phone is turned off. Not during the boot process.
Yes you can do it with bootloader (power+volume down)

Yes, I know that. He said he attempted to do that DURING the boot process. I was stating that he had to do it while the phone was powered down.
Guys, I can get into recovery no problem. The issue is that my phone doesn't show up in devices on the mac finder window and hence when I run 'ADB Devices' from the mac when the phone is plugged into the mac with USB no device is found and so no serial number is reported in my terminal window on the mac. If I can get to see the device with 'ADB' I can push the rom and recover the phone. At the moment the phone is bricked.
Thanks guys for your continued assistance.

Fastboot? Clockwork Mod? (Prep for Android on TP2)

Have a Sprint TP2. Had Android running off my SD card last year and ready to try it again. My main computer is Win 7 64-bit, but I have access to other computers with Win 7 32-bit, and possibly another with XP if it is necessary.
-----------8<------------------
A few questions, if you please.
-----------8<------------------
I) To get a *complete* backup of my phone, I can use SPB Backup, right? (Will allow me to get *everything* back the way it is right now?)
II) Recommended Android ROMs are OMGB and GBX0*?
III) For OMBG:
.....1) I need to have ADB working (I installed it last night)
.....2) The readme said I needed to "have all the drivers installed". I don't know what that means.
.....3) The "How-To" also said I "must have Fastboot working".
.......a) Where do I get this? From here?
.......b) Is it difficult to install and/or run?
.......c) Found this, but no idea what it means
IV) For GBX0*, I need to download and install ClockworkMod Recovery. Where do I get this? From here?
You'll need the same things for Android NAND. They both require fastboot, and some sort of recovery. I prefer CWM.
Edit - Your links are pretty much all wrong. You should be getting pretty much everything from here.
Use whatever ROM you desire. Fastboot and CWM are agnostic to ROM.
For any NAND ROM to work, you need adb working. If adb works, fastboot *should* work.
Fastboot flashes from the NBH. If you flash the NBH for Android, you have fastboot (installed on the phone...)
It is a little difficult/tricky. Not for the feint of heart. Read a lot, test a lot, before you flash anything. Make sure you know the process and what you need to do.
Most importantly perhaps is a fully charged battery. I've seen a few users get stuck in fastboot mode because they let their battery die - and now without CWM or WinMo, the phone won't charge. Don't want to be in that situation.
If battery life is most important to you then OMGB is the way to go. If you need native tethering then GBX is the way to go. I use GBX as my daily. Either way read the threads, and you can see the features that work on either.
I am trying to get my Rhod 250 prepped. I have the flash program to unlock the Hard-SPL but the phone will not connect via USB and I am fairly certain attempting a flash over Bluetooth would brick the phone. I have tried disabling Advanced Network Functionality and have also tried installing the .cab file found in another thread but neither have made a difference. I am running Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate, and the Rhod is showing up as Unknown USB Device.

Please make sure ADB works before you flash anything.
You need to do the unlock before you can flash any unsigned images regardless. HSPL is the first thing before flashing anything - custom WinMo ROM or Android.

[GUIDE][Cube i6 Air (3G or Wifi)] How to update your EFI BIOS to latest version

Welcome to my tutorial !
You can find others tutorials related to the Cube i6 :
Install windows 10
Install Android 4.4.4 (Stock & RemixOS)
I received the magnificent AllDoCube i6 Air 3G last week, and i've been struggling since to get updates,
firmware flashing and all of that working, I searched the whole web and the drivers/Firmwares are nowhere to find,
but on some chinese proxy-needed sites sometimes, or baidu which is a pain in the a** to download from.
So I decided to share the ways to update this tablet at all costs (heh, no worries, -NORMALLY- it wont brick)
Disclamer: This process might contain ROM hacking, this is for advanced users.
THIS TUTORIAL HAS BEEN TESTED ON i632GB1537XXXXXXX MODEL, AND WORKS ON IT,
WHEREAS IT HAS BEEN REPORTED THAT i632GB1522XXXXXXX MODEL BRICKED UPON DOING IT,
SO PLASE DO IT CAREFULLY, IF THE INSTALL VERSION IS 202 YOU SHOULD THINK ABOUT IT BEFORE TRIYING AS IT COULD BRICK!
Software included may be subject to copyright.
Flash your device at your own risk. Developer is not responsible for what you do on your device.
What you need:
Cube i6 Air (3G or Wifi)
Flash Drive (256Mo +)
OTG cable
USB Hub (3 Ports recommended)
EFI BIOS Firmware
DOWNLOAD THE FIRMWARE BEFORE STARTING SO EVERYTHING IS AVAILABLE WHEN YOU DO IT
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8YPw4HjmqNCZktOZy1OTEN2ZVE&usp=sharing
Get on the drive, go to your device folder, select the wanted version inside BIOS folder
What to do :
1.) Start by plugging the usb drive into your computer, and format it to FAT32 using any formatting tool
2.) Now you need to uncompress the downloaded firmware :
you will find a "Firmware_X.X.X" folder inside, take all of its content, and extract it to your freshly formatted drive.
here's what looks like the root of your usb:
3.) Your USB Drive is ready, now just plug the OTG cable to your tablet, plug your HUB onto that OTG
and fill it with your keyboard and the USB Drive just created.
4.) Press power button until you see the screen backlight, when you see it repeatidely smash "Esc" key on the connected keyboard.
You will see the bios 6 square configuration screen.
Hit "Boot Manager" and select your USB in the list.
5.) The tablet should now boot from your USB, booting to a UEFI Shell. Depending on your device, it might be either 64 or IA32.
Now you just let startup.nsh script do the firmware flashing init, it should drive you to a flashing BIOS screen.
6.) Follow instructions on screen and let the tool flash your BIOS automatically.
Once done, the tablet will shut down.
Congrats! You successfully updated your BIOS !
It is my first tutorial, i will post some photos of steps in the future so come back, the guide will be better soon !
Regards,
Max.
Hi,
I have bought the Cube i6 Air 3G a week ago and i'm still waiting for it to arrive.
Have you update the win 8.1 to win 10?
Does everything works correctly?

I changed the bootloader animation to nexus one on Cube ROM.
I also manager to boot on Android x86 but it had too many drivers issues.
Still, 4.4.4 stock cube is working and i reflashed to a new partition scheme of 9Go
and i'm currently testing some win10 pen drives for install, will keep you updated.
Édit: oh you were asking about thé tablet? Weil jack has default, charging takes hours, glass is plastic, firmware is pain but hell this is a goodamn good tablet for its price !

I achieved installing Win10 x32 Pro on Cube i6 Through hacking WinPE installation environnement, but now i'm struggling finding the drivers. touchscreen, battery and vital things like hd graphics are not working as of now. Will post a tutorial on how to install Win10 in given time when i'll get out of this mess!
My tablet has arrived yesterday.
From what the little i've used it, it has good performance especially in android.
A lot faster compared to my last android tablet (Cube U39GT).
Something i didn't like was the size of the icons and text in android, my next step is to root and change the dpi.
Regarding windows 10, i found in a chinese tablets blog with win 8 and 10 drivers.
I haven't tested it, but as soon as i find it again, i will let you know where to download them from.
You haven't tried the normal win 10 upgrade? From the microsoft icon?

I did not try anything as i like "stock" versions of my windows, but tonight i got it working all the way !
My cube i6 is running perfectly windows 10 and oh my god what a paradise it is ! The tablet experience got way better onto that version.
Can you try to update from the icon you are talking about ? i'd be curious if it works. anyway, i'm currently writing+uploading for the win10
tutorial for this tablet, so you'll be able to flash it late tonight, or tomorrow.
EDIT: The dpi is correct in android, only the status bar icons and some other are not in correct dpi but that is KitKat issue I guess. still interested in resolving that though. I'm currently hacking android lollipop ROM also, i'll keep you tuned on that. For rooting, i used KingRoot, it worked, but after a reboot, it tells me "root" is wrecked, so i guess there is some investigation to do there, but I was mainly focused on getting windows 10 ENGLISH STOCK version running to share it with you guys.
EDIT2: Still uploading, but tutorial is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/guide-how-to-install-windows-10-t3252042 and it should work on any Z37xx powered device. Enjoy !
Hello,
I'm using this tablet from 2 days now. great !
But, i got wifi problem after sleep : wifi chip cut and never found network anymore.
has to reboot, and all goes right.
same in win and android.
Did you hear about this ? many poeple complain about this.
Any trick or advice ? Is this bios correct this ? Is your bios work on i6 3g dual-boot ? (there is 2 bios for dual boot ?...)
Thanks !
Hi,
I've also have the same problem with the wifi.
I usualy disconnect the wifi and reconnect it, but sometimes it doesnt work and have to reboot the tablet.
I've not noticed it in windows but maybe it's because i'm using the tablet a lot more in android.
I've tryed to update to win 10 using the microsoft icon, but i got an error and was unable to complete the upgrade.

Hello, i have such a tablet for now about 6 Months and it is awesome so far (i often use win8.1).
My Tablet has also DUAL Boot with Android 4 and win 8.1 Bing.
I tried to upgrade to win10 but i also got a message that the partition can not be resized by windows. So i cant upgrade to win 10 with the normal tool from microsoft.
Is there any Solution yet to get this to work?
Anyway, i tried to boot from usb (win8.1 / ubuntu / gparted) but it is not working at all. When i try to boot true windows Advanced Boot Options, the BIOS says that there is no USB device.
When i use the EFI Shell to mount the USB Stick i can see that the BIOS has recognized the USB Stick.
I think that is all very strange, but i will try to update the BIOS soon. The serialnumber is not the same as from @stalker2106 but i will try it.
I hope there is a way to get win 10 working, but Ubuntu would be even better for performance.
Greetings from Germany.

Check windows 10 Post, there is no need to update BIOS to fix this error, your USB has to be in GPT partition style, check answer on the other thread
But usually the bios update should work, as it did on my tablet. But why bother taking risk if you can get it working without it
Hi,
I have sucessfully updated to win10
I have bios 203 in my cube and serial i632gb1510xxxxxxxxxxx, does anybody have tried to update to 206 on such setup ?
What are the chances that I will brick my device ?
I have downloaded latest Cube i6 roms from cube site (may 2015) . There are two bios-es which have to be installed in chronological order.
Shall I do it first, and then try to update to 206 ?
Edit: I was not patient and tried it on my own.I have successfully updated bios and tablet has started to both android and windows
I will perform some functional tests afterwards.
Actual steps :
I have first downgraded bios to 201(provided here )
Flashed bios1 from link provided
Flashed bios2 from link provided
Flashed bios 206 from guide in first post
Edit2:
I have tested basic functionalities like : Gyro-sensors, WIFI, GPS, 3G network and yet everything works like charm.
Maybe a placebo, however I have the feel that android runs like two times faster
I do suggest to update the windows, however I take no responsibility if you will brick your device. Even if the setup is like mine, neither if it differs
Regards
Why do you first downgrade to 201?
What do you mean with bios1 and bios2?
Many thanks and question
Hello Stalker,
I am new here and i want to
thank you for the instructions!
I bought a cube i6 from china.
It is the 'i6 air remix',
So it should have only Android on it.
When it arrived. it didn't function.
The only think that happens is booting to theEFI-shell.
I could switch between Android and Windows in the boot settings.
But Android did not boot.
I have updated the bios with your instructions
now firmware 2.0.6 is installed.
But still i can not boot Android.
I found a few flash tools and android for the cube i6 .
But i don’t know what is the right version flash tool I have to use.
Maybe you have advise or the right android and flash tool in your google drive download area?
Kind regards and many thanks in advance.

The truth is, the 206 BIOS provided is hacked off i6 remix repository from cube, so i guess there is no big deal flashing it on your device as it works on regular i6.
Moreover, you can use any version of the flash tool as long as you flash a correct rom for your device, which i would suggest to download from official cube repository or geekbuying or so.
Android Geecbuying
Hello Stalker,
Ok. Thank you!
I will try Geecbuying.
Hopefully the windows drivers will function.
There isn't a way to flash from USB I suppose?
Greetings
Hi, well, actually, you should flash over USB with à windows computer. MFT by Intel is recommended. I shall make some tutorial about Android installation and partition resizing.
flash and resize partitions
That is super. When you want to do so.
I was indeed wondering or there would be one android partition on the tablet or two partitions (one for android, one for windows).
I also questioned myself how to see that there are partitions.
In earlier times when I was working with a pc, i use F-disk or partition-magic for this kind of work.
But on the tablet I do not have a clue...
So if you could make me wiser on this, I would be very thankful.
Maybe you could boot on some gparted liveusb? Or inside efi shell some commands could help

no particular reason, I just wanted to know, which version of bios is in the latest firmware provided by geekbuying
Additional condition in my decision mechanism was that my serial did not match mentioned ones in w10 thread from stalker, so somehow I have used sleepy sloopy logic and tried to minimalize the risk (I know it have no rational reason and logic behind it at all)
Therefore, I tried the ones from geekbuying repository, to be sure to have latest provided from "official source".

Unlock Bootloader without Windows

Hi together
I just ordered myself a Redmi Note 3 Snapdragon. Since I'm looking forward to use Cyanogenmod on it, I will need to unlock the bootloader. The problem is, all tutorials involve the Mi Flash tool and it only runs on Windows.
Now I only have a MacBook PRO running macOS and Linux (Gentoo) but no Windows.
While I already spent quite some time looking for methods involving no use of additional software, I didn't find anything. I haven't been active in this community since CM7-times (Sorry for re-registering, I have no clue which email address and username I had) but from what I remember from the old IRC days, most other devs weren't running Windows, as well.
So how could I proceed unlocking my device without having to setup Windows? Is it possible through using exclusively ADB / Fastboot? My hope was, that the Mi Flash tool could be just a simple Fastboot GUI / Wrapper.
Thanks for taking your time, looking forward to replies

As the best way is to use mi unlock, other ways really damage your device , I am a victim of it
mi unlock only runs on windows, that's my problem.
tl;dr: mi unlock needs a fastboot executable. Is it only a fastbook wrapper / gui? Can I do everything on pure fastbook?
Try Windows on VirtualBox on your Mac or Linux Box
I too faced the same issue. I have a MacBook Air and a ASUS laptop running Ubuntu. Googled a lot and found the below mentioned tutorial very useful.
http://kiteplans.info/2016/07/01/how-to-xiaomi-hongmi-redmi-note-3-snapdragon-qualcomm-flash-chinese-rom-to-global-rom-locked-bootloader-mac-osx-linux-ubuntu-windows-virtualbox/
Please note that as of now I just needed root access and so I have flashed the latest MIUI 8 stable ROM. You might need to do things a bit differently in order to flash CyanogenMod (probably a different recovery or so. I am not to sure right now as I too got my Redmi Note 3 only a couple of weeks back and am still researching/reading a lot of forums, tutorials).
Please make sure you use the latest version of the MiFlash tool. Most the these tutorials found online are old and so have links to old version of the tools needed for flashing. Please note that the latest versions of MiFlash tool have a slightly different interface than that shown on the web page of the above mentioned link. As such the screens related to configuring of Advanced setting have become redundant. Most of these Advanced settings shown in there are configured implicitly by the newer versions of the MiFlash tool.
Also, on my Ubuntu laptop, I had to add my user to the group virtualboxusers for virtual box and eventually Windows to detect any USB device (pendrive, phone connected using the USB data cable)
Please be very patient with this method as everything will take much longer than it would have taken on a Windows machine. For instance, the MiFlash tool usually takes 20 - 25 minutes to flash a MIUI 8 stable ROM where as flashing the same on a virtual machine will take almost 40 - 45 minutes
Hope this helps. All the very best. Happy flashing!

Alcatel One Touch Pixi 7 9006w tmoble help

I'll try to get as straight tot he point as possible.
Been using my Mobile one touch pix 7 for a little over a year and always installed Ota updates. Well I rooted the tablet not too long ago, forgot which method I used, but was working fine.
an Ota update came through and totally forgot it was rooted, and tried to install it, at which point the whole tablet got bricked.
It ended up in recovery, and I selected due to failure, to format and wipe the data.
Anyhow, The unit will stay at the boot screen for a while then show command error and then show the recovery screen, my only options are:
reboot
update from sd card
update via adb
update via memory
reboot Bootloader
power off
Well I've tried updating by downloading system images via adb, they return a verification error.
I've tried using adb side load to try to install an Ota update file I found for it, returns a verification error.
I cannot get into download mode, fast boot mode I think does not work as windows reports 3 android devices, but the mobile update software cannot see anything, and fast boot gets stuck at waiting for devices.
I suspect the tablet is for lack of a better description totally bricked and just a paperweight.
I am at a loss of what to try from this point. I'm sure wiping the data after the failed update killed it completely but not sure.
Anyone have any guidance here? I've downloaded a few images from the web I found that say they are for this tablet model, but still getting verification error.
Is there any flashing software I can get that may be able to access the tablet or can I copy a file to the scared and have it try to run an update from there. I don't care if it is rooted or not, just want to get it usable again.
I can run Mac OS, windows 10, windows 7, windows xp, or even have no issue getting a linux version going, whatever will work best for this I can use it. windows 10 I was able to manually add the drivers but windows 7 is not letting me do it the same way. I can connect via adb sideload only, no other adb functions seem to work.
I'm not a total news when it comes to custom rooms, as I have done it with another tablet, and an android car radio, but those were pretty straight forward and bootable so never ran into a brick issue yet.
I have a feeling this is toast and I hope that is not the case.
If anyone here can help out, I would appreciate it.
Thanks again....
Need help here to. Been searching with no luck. Any my issue is.
Rooted kingroot, flashed twrp with flashify and now I'm stuck on twrp. Been searching for any custom stock rom. I forgot to unlock the bootloader but I did enable usb debugging (i didn't see any oem options).
Any k 28532Jonsunf of help would be greatly appreciated.
This sorta happen to me. I rooted pixi 7 with kingroot, and was able to delete a lot of bloatware. However, when I was using lucky patcher it pretty much messed up the play store. But it was fine. I could download stuff through the Internet. But sooner or later I needed to fix it. Tryed a lot of ways but it didn't help. So I factory reset the tabletand now im stuck at the Setup Wizard. It just won't let me let me through. I thought its was over, but then I get a message saying there is an update available. So I download it and installed it. But all I get at the end is error. So now I need to flash it with stock. I tried the img. too, but it doesnt show up in the recover menu. If you found a solution please tell me
Can anyoonneee help me find a good Custom Rom for the alcatel one touch pixi 7 (9006W)? Sucks that there's not much info for this device (probably cause the device sucks lol) I'm running on lollipop 5.0.2 and am not able to get OTA update due to rooting. Unrooting didn't help. It seems only answer is custom rom but don't want to risk bricking it as I don't have a computer at home. Also, I am new to this so if anyone can share some insight, I'd be eternally grateful
P.s
It's a t mobile device but I only use it on wifi.
Am using kingroot.
Have never installed a custom rom
****ing device is 8 gigs. 1 gig Ram.
Is it possible to get Nougat?
Help meeee lol
