I have a strange issue with my phone. Everything is working great except that I have to enable "Overseas roaming" to be able to get the network working. The phone obviously thinks it's still in China and not in Sweden. Anyone else seen this?
...
Nope, no problems.
Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk
Same for me. I have to enable it to get any service.
Can you edit the region code in build.prop? Obviously you would need to be rooted. Mine thinks I have a U.S phone in England. So far I haven't had to enable roaming to use data. Not sure why. I did use the app More Locales to create a new language region on my phone though
According to this post at miui.com this could be due to our operator being a so called MVNO, I'm going to try the WSM tools suggested in the post.

One of my SIMs runs on a MVNO and I don't need to enable roaming to use data. No idea why, or if that helps your investigations.
I would love to know how to solve the problem on national roaming. I have had this issue with my previous phones as well. Alcatel one touch flash, mlais m52, and now the redmi note 2.
---------- Post added at 08:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:58 PM ----------
The mismatch comes from your network identifier that is in your simcard as compared to the network that you are connected to. Your country code is the same but since you are on an MVNO, the network provider code is different. Android is fooled to think that you are roaming. For calls and sms, roaming gets enabled automatically. But you need to enable data roaming to get data connection working.
---------- Post added at 08:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:03 PM ----------
The national roaming fix as far as i know does away with comparing the network id between simcard and the connected network. As long as your simcard and the network provider have the same country id, then the roaming flag will not be enabled.
For the fix to work, i believe you need a rooted phone or a custom rom. Sadly, i havent seen that for the redmi note 2.

As tititle says, after upgrading from 1.6 to 1.8.1 cannot seem to connect to telus' 3g.
I have waited to see if other people have that issue on rom's thread but there seem to be very rare.
I noticed that in device radio settings, nothing was checked, initially.
I have tried all of them, including right now hsdpa + hsupa and redid fixed permissions, erased cache to no avail.
I was thinking that the only option would be probably to reflash all the roms that i missed? Such as 1.7 then 1.8 and this one in the end. If i were to do that, though, where can i find the old files?
Many thanks
HAve you tried manually inputing the APN settings? Just google "(your carrier) apn settings"
Thanks for your reply.
I didn't change it and seemed ok, ip and port matched telus profile on theirs website.
I have read about flashing a different modem ..would that help? How to do that if so?
I'd add these strange things i noticed, maybe might give someone some ideas on what's wrong: firstly, it seems that all settings under mobile data that have a radio box were unchecked. How can that be? As i mentioned, under settings > device setings> hspa nothing was checked, i had to check something so i finally chose 3rd option.
On the same note, under mobile data networks > apn, the default apn, telus, wasn't checked initially, even though it, too, is a radio box.
Finally, under the same mobile data netw menu > network operators, whenever i select telus, after discovery, it always says registered on network.
Thanks for any idea on how to solve this.
I have the exact same issue, except my carrier is TalkMobile (Vodafone UK). I was on standard 2.3.3 rooted, then went to 1.8.1 Res Remix ICS.

I got mine working, I had to contact talkmobile (my carrier) and they sent the settings out to my phone. Mine is working ok now.
I use ATT M8 running ViperOne 4.6.0. I found that there is nothing shown up when there is an incoming call. I can make outgoing calls though.
I flash back to stock rom and it works fine so I guess something wrong with the ViperOne rom.
Could anyone give my some help or hint?

This is due to "international" based ROMs not playing well with AT&T's LTE network; particularly in light of how AT&T is deploying Voice over LTE or VoLTE (which they call "HD Voice").

Thank you so much!
I found this on ATT website.
Android VoLTE capable devices
Tap Settings then Networks then Mobile Networks then Enhanced 4G LTE Mode.
Confirm setting is in the ON position.
If the Enhanced 4G LTE Mode is in the OFF position, then HD Voice and VoLTE are disabled.
BUT, I am not smart enough to find the setting mentioned in ViperOne Rom. Any idea?

I called AT&T and disabled HD voice but still got no luck. Would the change in account feature take some time or is there anything else wrong here?

Nope, this is not the same as what I suggested in the link. If it was as easy as a Settings toggle, I would never suggest going through the hassle of calling ATT.
And as I also mentioned in the link, international ROMs don't have this toggle. Its an ATT "exclusive" feature.

Check the APN. Otherwise, I'm not sure what can be wrong. The HD voice change should happen pretty quickly, so it might not be the problem.

I even tried re-flash the rom but no luck.
In the end I called AT&T and it turned out that the HD Voice is not turned off yesterday, which the rep told me has been.
So I waited a long time before it is finally turned off. And I CAN receive calls.
Thank you so much for the help

Thanks a lot worked like a charm!! Now if calling ATT was as easy said as done haha. I'd say I did well though it was the 3rd person who was finally able to do it. Someone said first level operators probably wont be able to help you and I'd say that is correct as a rule Ive noticed most XDA members have more working knowledge on what these phones can and cant do and on some levels when and how it cant be fixed on their end.
Hello Guys,
I am not able to run LTE/4g in my redmi note 3 pro. I reset my phone and after that i am not able to run 4g on my phone. I have tried changing connection, selecting LTE from phone info(*#*#4636#*#*) but nothing works. I am in India and running MIUI Global 7.5 Stable | 7.5.3.0 (LHOMIDE) version and my sim card has 4g activated and it is working, i checked it on Lenovo k4 Note and Samsung On 5. I dont know whats wrong but it is very frustrating even 3g connection is not stable and not giving good speed , i have to configure it through the code *#*#4636#*#* . Help me guys please asap.
I have the same problem on my new Redmi.
If I go into the test menu and choose a different set of networks I got 4G once, but when I reboot it gets stuck on 3G. I've got another Redmi Note 3 and that works fine. Can't get LTE at work and I never have issues with other phones and LTE

I was using latest MIUI global beta because it was the only rom I could get the goodix fingerprint sensor working on, but no LTE
Just installed the previous verison of Resurrection Remix and I still get no LTE. On the latest I get no 3G or LTE lol
I just went to the test menu in RR and chose LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) and now I get LTE in RR!
Hmm, rebooted and back to 3G. Went to *#*#4636#*#* menu and chose LTE/GSM/CDMA auto (PRL) again but still stuck on 3G
Pls help guys, if did not get the 4g then whats the work of using a 4g phone
No one knows????
I'm guessing we have faulty devices because no one else seems to have this problem. I have no LTE on ANY rom and I've tried a few.

Hi all,
I hope this is the right forum for this question and, if not, I apologise.
I live in Australia. My telephone provider, Boost Mobile, provides VoLTE and VoWIFI capabilities. On my previous Umidigi F1 smartphone I was able to use both, but when I moved the same SIM card on my Mi 10 Pro I couldn't find any settings, although I know the Mi 10 Pro has VoLTE and VoWIFI capabilities.
I cannot see anything where to activate them, no settings. I tried these codes as recommended in some posts on here, but they seem to do nothing. As soon as I press the star and the end of each code, they simply disappear and no message is visualised on the screen, neither any option appears in the SIM settings.
To unlock VoLTE: open your phone app and dial *#*#86583#*#*
To unlock VoWifi: open your phone app and dial *#*#869434#*#*
I have a MIUI global 11.0.4.0 (QJAMIXM)
Do you any suggestion? Thank you in advance!
Cheers,
G.

Has anyone been able to successfully activate vowifi with the global Mi 10 Pro?
I can disable WiFi carrier check using *#*#869434#*#* which gave me the " Make calls using WiFi" option in mobile network settings. Although the option is checked, it doesn't seem to be working using a Telstra SIM (which has WiFi calling perfectly with an iPhone 8) .
Dialling *#*#4636#*#* reveals that WiFi calling provisioned is still disabled and greyed out.
Any ideas?

Me too, i can't see volte icon too, never seen, instead it works with my operator on every other phone i have
i know this is an old thread but wanted to say thanks, i have a mi 10 ultra and im on Telstra (Australian Network) using the 2 codes in the OP both came up with a quick popup after entering saying "disabled volte/wifi carrier check" and now in the sim options both the volte and vowifi options show up and when enabling them the vowifi icon shows in the top so thanks!! (i chose to prefer wifi network over mobile networks in the vowifi options) EMUI version in screenshot.
When I use the codes in the OP I also get voWIFI and voLTE in the status bar and they work, but I lose caller ID so I cant see whos calling me.
I m in the UK on Virgin, I moved from Vodafone a few days ago to Virgin, on Vodafone both voWIFI and voLTE worked, but I didnt get the voWIFI and voLTE signs in the status bar, I also got caller ID.
The weird thing is that Virgin is a MVNO that now uses Vodafones network.
WIFI calling, video calling and voLTE are still greyed out in MUI settings even though I can now get them, all very strange.
I think you are all misunderstanding the technology.
There is a few dependencies. Signal availability, Signal strength and MOST importantly the other caller MUST be the same and on the the same network provider.
Now, I can't speak for other countries mainly because I don't live there, but here in the UK VOLTE will be either "4G" or "4G+" where the signal bars are displayed. By now the majority of the UK will be "4G" which technically IS VOLTE because the technology is a data carrier with a voice protocol strapped to it. This is why the provider must be the same for BOTH callers or it will fallback to 3g for the call for BOTH callers.
4G+ is LTE-A (LTE ADVANCED) is a dual band version of 4G which will attempt to use one band for keeping data alive and the other band for VOLTE. Again, this is dependent on the same factors as 4G with the same fallback rules.
5G is technically 'the standardisation' of all providers so the signal doesn't fall back.
I am in the UK. Stock Mi10 5G on a Giffgaff (O2) simcard. I can get all of them.
I think you have missed the point I was making - the same phone on Vodafone voLTE and voWIFI works, but I change to an MVNO that uses the same Vodafone network, I use the same phone, but suddenly neither works. There is clearly something on the carrier side that they do to enable or disable registering IMS, my previous Le Max 2 was voLTE and voWIFI compatible yet I could never get it to work on Vodafone even after having a massive dispute with them about it, I concluded then that there is somehting their end stopping it from working, my expereience above seems to confirm this. Quite why they designed voLTE and WIFI like this I dont know - they should just work just as 2G and 3G calling do.
I have never heard that the caller must also be on the same network, that does not sound right to me and indeed when was on Vodafone I could call non Vodafone users and still get voLTE.
Because Vodafone aren't obliged to share their full network with other providers like vermin media. Although you think they are one in the same they aren't. Vermin rent from Vodafone so it is a sub system. Why would Vodafone give anyone else Admin over their network?
Regardless of whether you think you have full 4g at both ends if the other caller doesn't for whatever reason you get the best that they can do and nothing more. There is no upscaling. That's why you need to both be on the same network/provider.
Hey guys, i am looking forward to buy this phone. However i read some comments and reviews mentioning the problem users with Airtel are facing. Many people said that this phone doesnt support volte from airtel. If any of you has bought it, please shed some light on it. Is it a software bug which might get fixed by an update or is it some other issue. Please share your experience. I am looking forward to buy this phone.
Yes, there have been words about the Airtel VoLTE issues. It's a software bug and can be fixed.
I have an airtel SIM, but I haven't used it in this phone. I'll check if the issue is still present and let you know soon.

Okay, So I checked it just now and the problem persists as of July 19, 2020.
The data does work just fine, it's the VoLTE not showing up. Jio VoLTE works though and I haven't heard of any issues with other carriers either. So yeah, if you use Airtel as you primary, you might wanna wait for an OTA update.

So only the VoLTE sign is not displayed, 4G data is transferred tho, right? Does it interfere with any calling or data connection/function? I mean it's not a big deal for me if VoLTE sign is missing or not displayed, but it is a problem if this interferes with the connection or function of the device as i will be using airtel as primary sim. Btw thanks for the reply

Lack of VoLTE will result in you not being able to use HD Voice (High Quality voice calls). You'll though, will be able to make normal calls just fine. (over 2G / 3G) Just a reminder, the data might turn off suddenly when you're receiving a call as the network switches to 2G/3G for the call (not my first hand experience, but it's what I've heard from reviewers.)
Yes the data is working just fine and there is, otherwise, no problem with "connection or function". It's just a matter of High Quality voice calls.
For me volte is also working fine bro
I am using this phone with both Airtel and Jio. VoLTE of both networks working fine. Try using Airtel SIM in Slot2 and NOT slot 1. Since this phone supports DualVoLTE, sim slot will make no difference in connectivity.
Working properly
It's working properly and flawlessly
I have been using my Airtel with moto one fusion plus sinr last one month..
No problem at all.. call quality is good volte works properly..
