Honor 7 Wlan problem - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Honor 7 , china version, PLK-01H, firmware 162 / updated to 173.
Initially, after start, work fine with my router in 2.4 and 5Ghz bands, without any problems.
I install Sim-card, auto-updated firmware from 125 to 162, and found, that my phone now see only 2.4Ghz wifi, and only in G standarts (not N), max. 54Mbit connection.
I tried change regions/ time zones in Honor, but see same result.
With newest 173 firmware - same result.
May be, anyone know solutions for this bug ?

PLK should actually be the European version, but the suffix H is new to me.
The version sold by VMall is PLK-L01 with "region" C432 and ROM version B100.
As to your issue : that is typical for Huawei, update ROM to fix one issue and break/delete another feature. That is, if 5GHz is important, you will have to roll back to the version where it worked.

Send a feedback to Huawei using the stock "Hicare" app..

It's bug with non-correct work with sim-card, Honor non-correctly determine location and permitted bands/standarts after I insert my sim-card (Ukrainian operator Kyivstar) and disable N band - in 2.4 phone continue work at G standard, but stopped work in N. In 5 Ghz without N phone simply can't work with 5N wifi AP.
I enabled 802.11d frames (sends country codes to wifi clients) at my AP, with different country codes, CN, EU, US and DE, but still has problem with phone.

Currently I rooted my Honor and continue work with this problem.

I directly enabled all 801.11n / 40Mhz band / parameters in wpa_supplicant.conf configuration file , but receive same result : 802.11n still no works.
Honor 7 usee some additional config file, but whats this file ?

Hmm,
wpa_supplicant service ignore configuration file , located at /system//etc/wifi, and at every run create new config files at /data/misc/wifi, also ignore start scripts at / (if I try change it, it simply re-created).

__

I found source of problems with wifi in Honor 7.
EMUI-Android-5.0.2 service read country code from SIM card/operator and use it for wifi settings.
Huawei version of WPA service ignore .../etc/ ...wpa_suppliciant.conf ,
also ignore country code in build.prop,
Service wrote country code from SIM card to DB /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Huawei wifi database is very buggy, and if your country (in my case - UA) is marked in
Huawei wifi DB as "N protocol disabled, 5ghz disabled" - you receive only 2.4ghz band and G-proto.
(In Ukraine N protocol is officially permitted, and 5ghz band also permitted)
temporary solution : [only for rooted phones]
start SQLite editor, or console , and correct country code for wifi, for example
and change wifi_country_code .
"INSERT INTO global (name, value) VALUES ('wifi_country_code', 'de');"
More safe way: copy file, change it, and copy back.
after this we restart wifi service,
and I immediately received :
[speedtest tested, internet connection, 100Mbit channel]
At 5Ghz band : (40 Mhz ) 150Mbit connect, 87 Mbit real download, max.real download - 90.5 Mbit, upload - 73.8 Mbit
2.4Ghz and (20 Mhz ) , 65Mbit connect (we can't receive more with 20 mhz and 1-stream), 38,6 Mbit real download,
Who say "bad wifi hardware" ? 8=-)
after reboot settings still due,
but after any on/off gsm/3G (airplane mode, for example) or change SIMcard phone read country code from sim card, receive UA, see Huawei buggy database and disable N proto and 5 ghz.
This solution - only for test !
We can found and patch wifi settings DB, but for normal work Huawei must update wifi settings DB.

i have got the same problem i'm in uk virgin on 50 MB and on ookla shows only 25 any solution?
honor 7 ®

After so much time this issue is still in progress
My PLK-L01 is B380 firmware and EMUI 4.0.1 and wifi max speed 50 Mb.
Do you have a final solution? Thank you

Hi, I have B396 Firmware and my phone can't see 5GHz WiFi. Also connecting with 2,4GHz at 72Mbps only, Honor 7 lite can 150Mbps.
So, where I can find configuration file on 6.0 firmware. I can't find settings.db at /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/

You have L01 model ?
B396 can't see any channel on 5GHz WiFi or only some channels ? (Can you test it with different channels on WiFi AP/router ?)

Sorry, now I can see my FortiAP, after change 5GHz channel from 80MHz to 40MHz.

Nice.
5Ghz with 40MHz works fine ? N or AC ?

Its syncing to 180Mbps, but I can't test internet speed.

List of all operator custom settings

After all those SPL / Radio / ROM flashes have been posted, I know for sure some of us have lost some operator-specific functionalities such as proper MMS sending, VodafoneLive!/Orange access, TV Streaming, etc.
So I thought it would be good if people could post their custom connexion & registry settings here.
I'll start with what I know best : France / SFR
up, does anyone want to post their settings ? it would be in the best interest of everyone !
Anyone using Orange World with his Niki? (Orange F)
I'm also interressed by Orange F settings because I can not connect to the OrangeWorld wap page. I used to have a Prophet with a modded ROM and had the same problem with wap. I used NetFront with special settings to access OrangeWorld but it wasn't perfectly supported.
Pleaaase post your settings
Isn't it easier to just use HTC Connection Setup?
It just downloads the settings automatically from the network.

Isn't it just useful if it knows your operator? I'm telling cause I have two SIMs, Vodafone and Yoigo (both Spain) and it just configures Vodafone...
When I use Yoigo (mainly for data) the tool just says my operator isn't in its database and does nothing...

How to unlock wifi channels >11

Have 2.4 mhz router at home, both my laptop and phone can see it on channels 12 and 13 but my Nexus 9 (MMB29S with ElementalX 4.05) cannot. Tried Wifi Codes without success. Added
Code:
ro.wifi.channels=13
ro.product.locale.region=EU
to build.prop (also tried several country codes in place of `EU`, including `GE` (I am in Georgia)). Found a method described to modify a database, however my tablet does not have anything in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings and does not have in /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony any database named "carriers".
Does anybody know some other method except flashing some custom rom?

Redmi 5 Plus (Vince) - MIUI 10.0.4.0 - Hotspot not working

Hello!
I've updated to the latest version of MIUI a couple of days ago and I have just realized that I cannot use portable hotspot anymore.
I can switch on the option, other devices can connect to the newly created network, but none of these devices have any type of Internet Connection, while the phone has a 4G connection.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Any solutions?
Thanks!
I think I may have found a solution here (https://en.miui.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=603550&highlight=Redmi%2BNote%2B4%2Bhotspot), post 9:
1) Settings-->SIM cards & mobile networks-->your provider (Vodafone for me)-->Access point names-->GPRS web(internet)
2) scroll down, to "Bearer", tick all net types available in your country
3) change MVNO type to GID
4) change MVNO value to ffffffffff (should be pre-set after step 3)

Change Wifi Direct name and password on Android 9?

Before I upgraded to Android 8 or 9 I was able to edit a file
p2p_suplicant.conf to change Wifi Direct name and passwords.
That's not the case on Android 9.
Where can I change these values?
I am running Android 10 on GP 3aXL. I have two Devices A and B connected via Wi-Fi direct. On device A, i have a proxy server running. I want to share my internet connection with device B. When i scan wifi on device B, I see SSID with the name of the remembered group on device A. I try to connect and it is asking me for the password. Where is this password info located? Tx.

How?? What do you have to change in p2p_supplicant.conf to change Wifi direct username and password?
I'm trying to tether wifi using wifi direct, I looked into this 2 yrs back, did everything I could to change pass so that, I get a fixed pass everytime, not a randomly generated one, but I couldn't get anything to work, I thought it's not possible and gave up
You're saying you've done that, I really want to know

VoWiFI + VoLTE on LineageOS17.1 OP3(T) on T-Mobile (Germany) and possibly more

Recently I had some bad experiences with bad reception.
At the place of my new girlfriend is very bad GSM and LTE reception. At her place of residence I could not be reached with my OP3T and I could not make outgoing calls. When I called her from home, our conversations were interrupted every few minutes.
Neither with T-Mobile (company card) nor with my Netzclub+ Sponsored card could I make any real phone calls. When I recently gave her a Oneplus 3 I decided to make both devices (+my OP3T) fit for VoWifi and VoLTE.
The goal was that it should work with Lineage 17 for microg.
I have seen here some instructions that helped. There was always just a little something missing to make it work.
Below are the steps necessary to get VoWIFI and VoLTE for T-Mobile up and running:
No root solution required, no bootloader unlock required.
Ony TWRP needs to be installed.
1. Install QPST, (have used 2.7.460)
2. Install Quallcomm Diag Driver, i used 1.1 (have used 10037.3)
3. Extract modem firmware via TWRP (system/etc/firmware, or use mine from download link)
4. Enable adb root in developer settings
5. Enable USB Debugging and connect to device via adb
adb devices (check if device is shown)
adb root
adb shell
setprop sys.usb.config diag,serial_smd,rmnet_ipa,adb
6. Open PDC from QPST with admin rights and choose phone
7. Rightclick on "Overseas..." and deactivate for Sub0 and Sub1
8. Remove the "Overseas..." completely (select it and click remove)
9. Rightclick on "H3G Denmark Commercial" and set config for Sub0 and Sub1
10. Rightclick on the profile again (currently pending state) and select activate a few times until Sub0 and Sub1 are active
11. Modify Build.prop (system/build.prop)
Extract with TWRP and modify locally and add this new block underneath
block #VENDOR_EDIT
[...]
#VOLTE
persist.dbg.ims_volte_enable=1
persist.dbg.volte_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.vt_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr=1
persist.radio.rat_on=combine
persist.radio.data_ltd_sys_ind=1
persist.radio.data_con_rprt=1
persist.radio.calls.on.ims=1
persist.sys.cust.lte_config=true
ro.radio_gpri=1
ro.amrwb_gpri=1
persist.data.iwlan=1
#end
[...]
Overwrite the original build.prop with your new one and chmod 0644 (both using
using TWRP File Manager) the file.
12. Put VoWIFI + VoLTE simcard into Slot 1 of sim tray.
13. In Lineage enable VoLTE and Wifi Calling (enable prefer wifi)
To check:
After step 13 wait 20 seconds until sip registration with provider completed, then dial USSD code *#*#4636#*#* to open Field test
Open "Phone information" and check ims registration state
Ims registration=registered means you had success
The provider profile change is done at the EFS partition and stay there until you restore this one via twrp.
If Wifi is off VoLTE is used automatically, sadly Lineage OS 17.1 does not have a VoLTE indicator. But you notice that LTE stays on during call and that there is no delay now.
Without VoLTE there was a 3 seconds delay to switch from LTE to 3G/2G to make the call.
If you call via VoWIFI a new Wifi Icon is displayed in Call window.
Sometimes VoLTE gets preferred over VoWifi, although in wifi call you have set wifi call is prio.
Not sure yet what triggers this.
If you use Volte OpenMarket Commercial profile VoLTE + IMS Video call works, but not VoWIFI. So for us Denmark profile is perfect.
VoLTE also works with Netzclub (O2) card in slot one, but not VoWIFI. Could work with switching to o2 IMS apn (not tested yet since i only plan to use it for telekom currently).
I read that only slot 1 supports VoLTE and VoWIFI (chipset related) which may not be true since during the process i had a condition with VoLTE working in both sim slots (+ ims registred for both). This happened when i loaded the "Idea..." profile for testing purposes. Somehow it triggered a connection crash and did not change the profile but enabled VoLTE for both cards (this time t-mobile volte working in slot 2, netzclub+ volte working in slot 1). But since VoWIFI did not work i loaded Denmark once again and now only slot 1 worked again.
Now it is even possible to activate airplane mode and to call with T-Mobile number via Wifi.
Really cool.

Edit 2020-Oct-03:
Temporary magisk installation no longer required with latest lineage os 17.1 / lineage os 17.1 microg.
Just enable adb root in developer option, and in adb shell type "adb root"
Also attached mbn files only work for 3t, will update download link soon to contain 3 files, too
Can confirm, works on NOS 11 without using *#*#4636#*#*#. No VoLTE logo on the Status Bar, but it has the HD Sign when calling on Google Phone. Thanks for the guide!

Nope, I'm from Sri Lanka and I use the only provider that gives VoLTE. I had to google which option works with my Carrier, which was "VoLTE_OpenMKT....". Basically works with any carrier that provides VoLTE, a google search is needed to find which description to enable and if you can't, you need to test which ones are required for VoLTE.
Just me dropping by saying this was super helpful!
Running an OP3 on LOS 18.1. Wanted to avoid going back to OOS 9.0.6.
Enabled VoLTE on jaMobil! (T-Mobile Germany Network). I used the "Volte_OpenMkt-Commercial-CMCC" profile.
My profiles were fairly empty - not a single European Country name in the profiles. But worked Thanks again.
EDIT: Since I used the OpenMkt Profile I got everything but VoWifi working. But I don't have any country-specific profiles. Can I load yours somehow?
Ive had this issue and ive found just changing the build.prop locally on the device - Using TWRP
# Debug Options
persist.dbg.ims_volte_enable=1
persist.dbg.volte_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.vt_avail_ovr=1
persist.dbg.wfc_avail_ovr=1
# Radio Options
persist.radio.rat_on=combine
persist.radio.data_ltd_sys_ind=1
persist.radio.data_con_rprt=1
persist.radio.calls.on.ims=1
Does the trick
Hallo, I have a problem with the device profiles for the modem. In the firmware there are the mbn-files in /system/etc/firmware/mbn_ota in two directories: mcfg_sw and mcfg_sw_NoCDMA. In QPST I can see the profiles from mcfg_sw, but not the ones from mcfg_sw_NoCDMA which are needed to use the op3 with the german telekom. What am I doing wrong? Trying to install the files via QPST also doesn't work, by using the load button I can choose a file, but the profile does not appear in the profiles.
Would perhaps sombody here who could explain the complete mechanism depending the mbn files in the firmware directory and the profiles shown in QPST?
Thank you very much in advance!
PS: VoLTE worked for a couple of days with the profile CMCC_Volte_OpenMkt-Commercial, but unfortunately the german telekom changed something, so it doesn't work anymore.
