Flash developer ROM over the Stable with Mi Recovery? - Redmi Note 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This way it's in the right place.
How can I flash the developer ROM over the Stable one with a Mi Recovery and with Native Root? (No costum recovery and SuperSU)
All the guides I saw use custom recovery. Can I just change the name of the .zip to "update.zip" and choose update?
By the way, is there a mirror to download the official ROM, I canĀ“t complete the download from the official site...
Thanks

1. Download "hermes" firmware on xiaomi.eu
2. After download open Updater
3. click on choose update package
4. this is it
You don't need TWRP, no root, no gapps... TWRP is not better than the miui recovery. It's just for people who never used a xiaomi smartphone.
By the way... it is much better when you wipe (after the installation) you phone. After that you don't need to wipe your when you using the xiaomi.eu rom's. Also you don'z need to flash Gapps, because xiaomi.eu is bloatware free, with better translation and gapps. Updates you will get over the updater app.

Exactly what I wanted,thanks!

And for the future, you don't need TWRP, just update OTA

Does OTA-update work with TWRP too?

I tried but it didn't work for me.

@4o4i
Thanks!
So I have to reinstall stock recovery.

Yah this doesn't work for me since the stock recovery will reject incorrectly signed zips (which the developer rom seems to be).

Apps not installing on Xiaomi redmi 3 pro

Hi. I have the problem since i bought the phone. I have Xiaomi redmi 3 pro with MIUI 7.2.7.0.0 Stable. Apps are not installing after download. I have to reboot to install an app, and then reboot again if i want to install another app. Tried unistalling google play, clearing cache, and other things, nothing worked. It is very frustrating. I found other people complaining about the same thing but no answer.
Flash latest developer firmware and install google apps after it. Clear data on all google apps installed, reboot phone, add google account and everything should work normally.

well, first i need to unlock bootloader. i m still waiting for acceptance of the request. Also, a link with the latest developer firmware for redmi 3 pro?
No need to unlock bootloader if you are not planning to install CM or custom firmware. Also there is SpaceX MIUI 8 firmware for locked boot.

Updater app will not work in your current rom, b'coz its not miui official rom.

Installing ROM from MIUI 8 Global Beta

I am new to xda so apologies for simple question. I am currently running MIUI 8 Global Beta 6.7.21
Can I install a custom rom in place of this? If so what is the easiest method?
Thanks
Yes, you can install different ROM's. Search up WinDroid on XDA, download it, install TWRP 3 and pick out whichever ROM you prefer.

First, you need to root your phone, try King Root or installing the Chinese ROM which comes with built-in root, you can do this from the updater without needing root.
Then install Flashify from the play store and dowload TWRP recovery for Redmi Note 2 from this forum. Flash the recovery with the Flashify app, it's pretty straightforward.
Then you just need to download your custom ROM of choice and reboot to the recovery. Before flashing a custom ROM, backup is recommended. Just follow the instructions given in the ROM topic and you're good to go.

Jumping on MIUI 8 MM

Hello,
I've always been in Lollipop builds of MIUI, but since there's MM based MIUI 8 now I want to jump on that. previously, I'd do things as follows,
1. Flash MIUI fastboot ROM.
2. If bootloader was locked unlock it using MiUnlock program.
3. Flash TWRP.
4. Boot TWRP.
5. Flash universal boot img patcher.
6. Flash SU.
7. Flash Xposed.
8. Boot the ROM for the first time.
The way I describe above works flawlessly with LL MIUI ROMs, but since I want to jump on the MM ones, I was wondering if the same could be done with the MM based ROM or if I need to change something. Previously on the leaked MM Rom I got problems with UBP and the rom became finicky to boot. It would boot once but a reboot gave bootloop.
Any kind user if you have any advice on having MM with root and xposed please share your knowledge on how I need to go about doing that.
Thanks in advance.
What rom did you have, global dev rom or stable rom? My case at first was on global dev rom(LL) and received an ota update, then I copied it to external sd card, flashed by alka twrp the rom, superSU and xposed-v86-sdk23-arm64-MIUI-edition-by-SolarWarez-20160710.zip in one single flashed with success.

Previously I had to flash UBP to keep the recovery intact. Is that not necessary anymore? it was 6.7.21 leaked MARSHMALLOW. LL works fine.
Use lazyflasher for mm instead of ubp

How do I upgrade my rooted oryginal MIUI 10.3.8 to MIUI 11 on Pocophone F1?

Hello. I have already asked on Reddit and Quota but I have not received an answer. I have the original global MIUI 10.3.8 with official TWRP and root by Magisk. I received a notification on the device that an update to MIUI 11 is available. As for root, I didn't make any changes to the system. I only gave Administrator permissions for four applications. What do I have to do to install the official MIUI 11 update?
Just download the .zip of MiUI 11 and flash as usual. Dirty flash works, don't need to wipe anything. Magisk 20.0 is working, no Disable Force Encryption needed. I tested with the miui.eu ROM...

For upgrade no, you don't. Make sure you have the latest TWRP (3.3.0.0 or 3.2.3.2) as some people are having issues. I didn't tested on official Global zip, only with the miui.eu variant

TWRP will stay? After uploading the rom do not restart the device and do a TWRP flash? I have 3.3.0.0. Another thing is that I use global ROM.

Do you have experience on flashing custom roms on TWRP?! Maybe you should do some reading first...
But it's just a matter of download the miui.eu version of MIUI 11 at https://sourceforge.net/projects/xi...files/xiaomi.eu/MIUI-STABLE-RELEASES/MIUIv11/ and than install via TWRP. You'll need to download the Magisk TWRP Zip and install it as well.

The last question. Install Magisk after starting a new rom or still being in TWRP?

Okay. Upgrade to MIUI 11 and everything works together with Magisk v20 and Manager App. Thank you for your help.

global rom or costum rom?

for some time I have been using the xiaomi.eu rom, and I asked myself.
is it better to install a stock rom and then put a magisk in it or install a costum rom? if it is the second choice which one are you using?

Going custom miui rom (xiaomi.eu) is the best way to enjoy MIUI. You get all the MIUI china rom goodies without the bloatware and ads.

I use official global rom 11.0.1 android 10.
Rooted with magisc..
Got dolby atmos and Viper4android, a theme mod from one ui and works like a charm no reason to install any custom Rom.
See attachments ?
@derrekgamer what do you do when you get an OTA update? need to root again?
PS update your thread with one UI howto, it looks good!
Thanks!

Hello. Yes i receive ota update. A week ago Miui 11. 0.3.0 has arrived..
To do that ota update and keep my system up to date without losing any data im using pitch black recovery.. That twrp supports miui ota update and can bypass the xiaomi security. Is the only twrp who can do that.. And it's very cool.when i get ota update I press only the install button and the phone is rebooting and goes in to the twrp recovery and installs the update without any problem.. Before flash twrp says :
miui encryption : yes
Decrypted successfully
Installing ota update
Update successfully
Applying encryption..
Done.
Something like that and my phone works. I can flash also full recovery miui Rom global (2.4 GB size) using the same twrp.. So I don't need even a pc to reflash the hole phone system again..
Link to the twrp :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...covery-mi-8-lite-v2-9-0-base-twrp-v3-t4000857
The best.. Must read and see the article..
About the theme.. I asked on the Mi 8 lite answer and questions forum And it looks like no one wants/need A theme [ONE UI], because no answers So no reason do upload or do something.

Going custom miui rom like MIUIMIX, MIUI IT, XIAOMI.EU, Mi-Globe, MiRoom, Etc is the best. You get all the MIUI ROMs goodies without ads.
