It's cool that you are trying to help other members that have this device, as I'm sure there isn't a ton of info. However, with that in mind, you should be more detailed with how you got it to work with the phone. First, does it come prerooted from the factory or did you have to root it yourself? If you rooted it, what program did you use? What version of the program? What update is the phone on? Build version of the software? This kind of info will help as if this phone gets an update to Lollipop, then installing Xposed won't work this way and will help eliminate confusion.

Hi all,
New to all this. Have performed a root using the instructions here. Thanks lyriquidperfection
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414
Seemed to work ok, just installed first insecure kernal on the list without matching to my kernal, it installed Superuser but not Busybox, so installed that from the market.
The reason I wanted to root it apart from 4.0.4(needs to be rooted?) coming soon was in the hope I could get shot of some of the locked apps Samsung and Google installed on it. Busybox looks to me that you need to know what you are doing to use it. So the question is is there anything simple I can use to get rid of the locked apps that I don't want?

Spread Sheet of removable APPS
ps- read carefully the same to understand the apps importance and then remove it if its safe
Thanks Sun, that will help greatly
Wonder why they make it so complicated, most of the pre-installed stuff is a lot of tosh, then again so is the Market stuff
If possible can someone point me in the right direction...? Ive read you can roll back but I can only find threads with explinations for rooted phones & my luck being the way it is got the G3 on the day the came out with 11C. Thanx in advance everyone & appreciate all the time put into this site
Either the kdz or tot approaches.

Note that these approaches use different flash tools, and you have to be careful to use the right drivers in your PC.
Once you return to 10b, you may want to root and turn off System Updates. There are some rumblings that lg may make it difficult in the future.

Thanx for your response, I found the thread on how to disable OTA's.. This is a noob question but after I roll back then root, do I need to install Bump!...? N do I have to unlock bootloader? If I no, would I need to unlock it to install G3 Xposed? I want to theme my G3 n having Verizon they went as far as taking out the ****ing Theme option but I got it anaways but u cant do anything really. Once I get a lil more experienced at this whole root thing I want to install custom roms n all that but unfortunalty I dont feel comfortable going that far yet & I just got this phone and dont have money to **** it up yet :silly:
Thanx for any help with this, its greatly appreciated & if theres a thread that woud explain the steps I would need to take and any additional details on them that would be great to get a link

You only need root for exposed. 'Bump'ing the bootloader allows you to install a custom recovery so you can flash ROMs and kernels, make nandroid backups, etc.
Hey guys, so the last phone I rooted and had a bootstrap on with custom roms was the Motorola Droid x2. We couldn't even get into the kernel. So with that being said I've acquired super user on my g3 months ago to freeze apps. But now I don't depend on my phone like I did then for work. So I want to do the whole thing and I'm unsure what choices to make. I'm not looking for a guide for installing stuff (at least not yet ) just trying to get suggestions and hopefully good recommendations.
So here's the main point for the post
TLDR!!!!!
Current android version 5.0.1
kernels- unlock it? Change it? Not sure what all you can actually do with that.
Bootstrap- clock work mod? Or any other one can't think of names but need something to load roms
Rom for battery and power- cyanogenmod is what I use to run on the x2 not sure if it's still one of the best?
Anything else I missed that I should get and check out?
Thanks in advance
Put TWRP custom recovery on your phone with the autorec TWRP app by @bender_007, in the General section of the non-variant specific G3 sections. Once you give the app superuser permissions it looks like it's hung up but give it 10-30 seconds because it's backing up your current recovery. Then click the button to install TWRP. Download the latest TWRP v2.8.7.0 from its thread also somewhere in the G3 sections, and flash it from your current TWRP.
I use @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0 ROM, which is based on the latest official LG ROM, build 35B, based on Android 5.1.1. Very happy with it, very smooth and great on battery.
I haven't heard the term bootstrap with regards to custom recoveries. I'd suggest just calling them custom recoveries.
Thanks for your input it's been a while after I read it I was like yep it's custom recoveries lol thank you again

its you. i used a pc to access the site most of today and haven't had an issue.
Alright thanks I'll look into my pc then. Also I haven't decided if I want to flash a custom kernel I don't know what all it can change any advice?
I successfully rooted my tablet with kingroot, in order to uninstall the bloatware such as disney ebooks and netnanny.
After removing these apps, its crashing with this message:
"unfortunatley, the process com.android.systemui has stopped"
Any idea on how to fix this?
Factory reset does nothing. Im hoping i can get a custom ROM, can anyone help here? A later android build would be great.
Thanks for your help

Ive tried contacting the manufacturer over a week ago now and am waiting to hear back.
All they will do is give me the same stock ROM with all the disney crap, but at least it will get it going.
I read on another thread with someone doing the same thing on a similar tablet and they said they think they are just shipped with an AOSP rom, not sure if thats worth trying.
According to what you are saying "system.ui has stopped" you might have messed with some critical system apps. If you would hav only uninstalled the apps u mentioned, i dont think u wud face such a problem. Try downloading the firmware from google and flash. If i have time i ll compile a custom rom for ur device. Send me the link only if there is a recovery such as cwm or twrp available for ur tab. :good:
Flash the full stock rom. Root it, then DONT delete anything, use titanium backup, 3c toolbox..etc.. and FREEZE the apps you want to 'delete' first. Google all the apps you are even slightly unsure of before doing anything, then once you've frozen them all, reboot. If the error comes back again you can unfreeze them one at a time to see which one(s) are causing the issue and unfreeze them. Once you have some/most frozen and its working OK, THEN you can delete them.
I am guessing you have no custom recovery to make a backup first?

I have an idea on what it was, i think it was the child mode apps i removed that caused the issue, this was all part of the stuff bundles with disney, it was called net nanny i think.
If its possible to create a custom rom that would be great!
Is it possible to download stock roms from google to try?
I dont want to brick it if i flash the wrong rom.

That would be great thanks, im not sure what one to try.
i think u have removed some system needed file .. u have to flash stock firmware
That doesnt make sense.
Deleting this apps shouldnt create a problem.
U must have deleted something related to sysUI

As someone has said on another thread, they had the same issue after getting rid of the child mode apps on a similar tablet.
They appear to be integrated deeply into the system.

One person has managed to reinstall the net nanny app from google play and apparently it fixes it.
Would be good to reflash the tablet with a stock ROM without the need for all this rubbish to be installed.
Hey all, I've been having a lot of fun playing pokemon go but recently the newest version of the game has blocked users who have rooted phones, there's a hack called magisk that will allow the root to be toggled off while the game is being played and then back on when it is not. I am having no luck installing it though.
Has anyone else tried and succeeded to run this mod?
I'm running OL1 (5.1.1), stock rom.
Thanks!

I'm running it now. Although I've read that it can be done without doing a full Factory Reset, per the instructions, I wasn't able to make it work. There's a tutorial from Android Police that explains everything and provides links to the various files needed. Google search "magisk Pokemon go". You'll see the link. It's not too complicated of a process but make sure you have everything backed up.

I also have had no luck installing it. I have a sm-g900h on marshallow 6.0.1 and I've tried 5 times on doing it, but it still won't work. I've looked for a week for different drivers and archives to do it but I can't find any that work.
I'd really like help because I'm a total newbie in this and I don't know what to do or if I'm doing something wrong.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong because all that sounded pretty much like everything else. I've tried nearly every combination of flashing files, unrooting, leaving root. When I unroot I cannot boot to the OS, I was able to play the newer version when I unrooted but I don't think I'm going to do that. Guess I'll just play the old one as long as I can before the force the update and then maybe stop playing :-/

Yeah, I considered upgrading to Marshmallow because I've seen videos of it working for an S7 edge running Marshmallow and thought that Magisk may have had better support with 6.0. I really hope I don't need to get an S7 to get the game to work while rooted...The S5 is still a much better featured phone IMHO and I'm going to use it until it doesn't work anymore because it's so rock solid.
I already solved the problem I had installing it.
Turns out I was replacing the compatible version of super su that comes in the .zip without noticing.
It was all because I didn't read the instructions provided and let TWRP install the super su before rebooting.
I just didn't let TRWP install super su and it worked like a charm.
