What is the difference between FOG6 and FOF6? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

I'm sorry, I searched the forum but can't seem to find the answer; What are the differences between the FOG and FOF versions? I have an S5 custom rom with the 0B1 baseband that I'd like to bring back to stock, but I'm not sure what to use or what to avoid. Thank you.

[Q] Phone + firmware compatability

No doubt this is going to turn out to be an idiotic first post and the information is already available on here, but here goes! I've checked through some posts and the helpful FAQs but couldn't find something to reassure me on this.
I have an Orange branded Samsung S2. Ideally I'd like to remove all the branding from the phone and get the latest stock firmware that is possible right now.
I followed this guide on how to root my phone. As my current kernal version was KE2, I took CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEU_KE2-v4.0-CWM4.zip and used Odin to put that on. That all went on fine, so now I have a rooted phone. That's where I am now.
So now I understand I need to put on the stock firmware, which should be taken from this thread. My question here, which I can't seem to find an answer to (so perhaps isn't a problem), is are all "Samsung S2 i9100" firmwares compatible with all versions of the phone, or are there deviations in the hardware meaning I have to make sure I pick the right firwmare?
In the same way I needed to have the right kernal version before, is that the same for firmware? Does it need to stay in the format KEx? I think I just have a misunderstanding on how the firmware releases relate to each other here. I see a lot of firmwares in the thread with the format XWKyx and I'm not sure what one I would choose? Just keen to not kill my phone by going ahead and picking the wrong thing.

Now that you have root I recommend to backup you EFS folder. Search EFS backup and you will find the post on how to do it. Once that is done then you can flash any of the ROM's on the page you linked, I recommend the KI3 as it is the latest leaked Firmware. Just follow the instructions and you will be fine , remember you will loose root and will have to root again...
Thanks for the advice. Will backup - could you offer any advice on my questions about firmware? I am able to just go ahead and use the XXKI3 Frankenstein firmware (so it doesn't wipe my data?) on my current KE2?
As long as you have the international version of the SGS2 then the answer is yes.
Follow the guide on how to flash with Odin and you're good to go.
Thanks for that confirmation, it's much appreciated. EFS backed up on to my machine and now running stock 2.3.5
Hope the battery life has improved!
Modems Kernels firmware are generally interchangeable on this model .
2.3.4 KH3 firmware KI3 2.3.5 kernel KDD modem will work for instance .

Look hard enough and you will find what your looking for. I was wondering the same thing. Good to know this info.

[Q] Gah! Head hurts, want to root my GT-7510 ICS - Please help!

I've been reading forums and searching forums all day, but can't seem to find a definitive answer to whether I'll be able to root my specific version of tablet or not, there's so many different types, build numbers, UK versions/US versions my head is close to blowing! Any advice would be soo much appreciated.
I bought a tablet off Ebay, a GT-7510 (US version I think, although I live in the UK) which came with Honeycomb installed. I then updated OTA to ICS 4.0.4, but it seems pretty laggy in general compared to the other Galaxy tabs I've seen, now I'm at the point where I'd like to root it and try some custom roms to see if they're any better than the stock ICS rom.
Here is the info for my tab which I think is relevant:-
Android Version 4.0.4
Kernel version 3.1.10
Build number IMM76D.UELPL
I've found so many different methods of how to root certain variations, but can't be certain if one of them applies to my tablet, whether I'd have to flash it back to Honeycomb, whether it only works for UK or US versions etc etc, that I've given up searching and thought I'd start my own post, and hope that somebody could tell me whether I can definitely root my device, and which would be the best method to do it? I have no warranty on my device as it's a refurb, so rooting doesn't bother me, but I'm worried about using the wrong method and bricking it.
Really hope somebody can help me, thanks very much in advance for any advice.

For the P7510, rooting it is dead easy - just download a recovery and flash it using ODIN. See the rooting guides here. Honeycomb doesn't complicate things at all.
Thanks k1mu, when you say honeycomb doesn't complicate it at all, some of the guides I've read specify that they're for honeycomb installations only, I have the stock ICS rom which was installed OTA, is Android version not an issue anymore, and the guides will work no matter which version you have installed? Also, my tablet is a GT-7510, not a P7510, not sure what the difference is, if any? Sorry if I seem dumb, just want to be sure before I go ahead.
Thanks very much for your help.
Just to update for anybody searching who is as confused as I was, I got root access using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2029664 from user Jovimon.

[Q] Regarding Sudden Death

Well hereĀ“s what has been played out the latest couple of days...
I got myselfe a used S3 that was rooted and had Wanamlite ROM with the enclosed kernel flashed. I felt it was rather choppy and laggy so I flashed one of the prerooted ME7 found on XDA.
However that did not help a bit and on top of all the choppyness and the freezez I also got really poor batterylife.
So... I got some help in another thread to unroot and flashing the stock ROM with ODIN. After that the phone has been working as it should... no lagging and no freezes. Although I have the damned chip that causes the "Sudden Death" the factory reset seems to have done the job. But... WHY? Both WanamLite uses the stock kernel (right?) and the ME7 that I tried also uses the stock kernel... How is it that the "sudden Death-syndrom" disappeared after unrooting and reflashing stock?
Now to my question... a question that has been answered a thousand times before. Is it Worth to install a custom ROM with the new leaked firmware? I would really like it to be a custom version of the "official" ME7... prerooted and tweaked for best batterylife.
Any hints what to choose? Besides not getting root, perhaps the best choise would be to flash the unrooted "leaked" untouched ME7 with ODIN?
Any input would be nice!

Suggest you stick with stock and read up .

Thanx for the answers.... but you missed the point!
Witch ROM is the best is not all that important... the question is rather if my experience of the "sudden death syndrom" will perhaps return if I flash other than stock ROM.
Also... the other question was IF I want the ME7 leak... is it better to stick to the stock untouched one or a custom one, regarding batterylife and smoothness.
For a start you didn't have sds or you wouldn't still be using your phone....poor setup/corrupt data most likely cause.
If you want advice on Roms go and read the relevant threads

No i did not miss the point .
One you need to read the basics and two ( one, regarding batterylife and smoothness.) is classed as what rom best rom .
The answer is its subjective and for you to decide on what rom .

[Q] Modems and bad signal strength

Hi,
I have some problems with modems and signal strength... I have search other threads but did not find anything really useful.
I bought an i777 when I was living in America for work, but now I'm back to Italy and I see that I always have bad signal (I've checked also with Better Battery Stats). I've tried different modems, but didn't see remarkable differences...
When other people asked for this stuff, the answer was almost always "install and try". Do you know if there is another way to test modems?
Since the i777 is from an American carrier, is it possible to port an i9100 modem?
Thank you!

Short answer is no, i9100 modems will not work on an i777. While the devices are alike in many ways, modems from the i9100 aren't compatible (or portable) to the US variant. You can flash an i9100 modem and the phone will boot up fine, but you'll run into trouble with not being able to hear the caller/them hearing you. Normally this workaround would be to flash an i777 kernel with MicSwap capabilities, but that will have no affect on a modem as the baseband's are different.
Perhaps a longer answer than you needed. Sorry, I'm not aware of a real solution for you other than purchasing a different device for your region.

Thank you for the answer SteveMurhpy! I can't change phone right now, so I'll have to try the other modems... do you know if there is a faster/better method to test them than to install and try? And how much does the version of the OS interact with the modem? I am on Slimsaber right now... Thanks!

I don't think the OS has anything to do with the signal strength, if it did it would likely be on older firmware such as GB, ICS and not the KK version you're currently running. As for the modem, unfortunately there's no way to test signal strength prior to flashing, so you're just going to have to keep trying them until you find one that works in your country.
One might suggest alternate APN settings, but that has more to do with functionality and speed rather than signal strength.
Sorry, as far as I'm aware there's no easy fix for you.

I had some doubts about the compatibility between modem and OS because when I was back on SlimBean and I flashed a modem from GB the System UI kept crashing... but maybe there other types of problems, I didn't investigate that much.
Ok then, I'll keep trying... maybe I'll find the right modem for my country!
Thank you very much again SteveMurphy!

[Q] The newest info on rooting/flashing i9300

Hello guys! I have an international variant of the S3, the i9300 since Jan 2013. Never flashed nor rooted the device, but the will to do that has been growing on me for a few months.
I've flashed only stock firmwares (the case where the newest firm wasn't available to my CSC) via ODIN, never rooted, never flashed anything else.
My question is: where should I look for the newest info on rooting/flashing the S3?
I remember there was a stock firmware released that changed the EFS folder, but I suppose that every customROM out there now takes that into consideration, right?
For the last year, I've been reading kernel this, TWRP that but never looked into the in depth definitions before but been reading into the matter since yesterday.
Also, flashing a customROM will make me lose videocall or the camera best definitions due to drivers or is it just a hoax/thing of the past?
Thanks in advance guys :good:
Go read the sticky thread in general forum, nothing has changed on rooting.
Custom rom is a personal choice, try them for yourself, those based on stock use the hardware better.
