I've realized that CM10.1 (and up) has much better sound quality on speaker than CM9/CM10.
For example if i set 250Hz to max in Poweramp on CM10.1, I get very deep and clear bass, but on CM9/CM10 I have almost no bass with same settings. So is there any way to get CM10.1 sound drivers on older roms?

Try installing a custom kernel on CM9/CM10 like Siyah kernel.

I have tried with many kernels, and it does not depend on kernel.

Maybe it is just a bug with the ROM or app. I don't think it is possible to backport sound drivers into a flashable zip that will work fine on CM9/10.

Hey guys...
I switched over from a sammy based rom to a cm10 based one and the only thing that bugs me(very very much!) is that the speaker volume is very low compared to my previous rom.
On sammy based roms there was a file named default_gain.conf in /etc directory where you could modify output sound.
On cm10 i see there's a file named m0 under /etc/sound directory which is similar to default_gain.conf.
When i changed values in m0 file and rebooted, like i did with default_gain.conf before, sound got a litle higher volume but only just a litle bit...it's still very low for me...
Anybody knows how to make this thing louder please??(without equalizer software and other things like that,i want to keep my phone light)
EDIT:I managed to get it to play as loud as sammy based roms but the bass is terrible....
It's overpowering and makes the speaker boom no matter how low i set it...too bad....
I'll switch back to my previous rom now.

Flash siyah kernel, it comes with nice sound tweaks.
Thanks for the suuggestion.
I know this though,i flashed it but it still doesn't sound as good as sammy based...
Plus i don't want to use siyah as my daily driver.

I tried acid....it's very good in general.
But it spoils the natural sound for me,which i like to have plus no effect on speaker output...(i'm kinda of an audiophile and have a very sensitive ear).
Anyway i switched back to sammy rom and now everything's fine...
High frequencies are less aggressive and more profound.
Bass deeper and more powerful, with good effect no chatter and distortion tracks.
The sound of musical instruments will be more balanced and more natural.
Voice more natural.
In the engine ported audio technology - Xloud and Clear Audio from Sony, Beats Audio and DSP manager.
Thank me and NoFeX for his work.
Mod tested usatoday
I am interested in your feedback.
Happy new year!Place on a clean rom odex / deodex
For 4.1.1 / 4.1.2
Hi.
Q: Is it GUI-configurable? It is switchable OFF without RE-flashing the phone?
Asking because I installed some much older release of Beats Audio, it works but not possible to switch it off and no UI config utility at all...
By the way, I am also Russian
So, this MOD - for sure well-tested on DLL4/5 stock-based ROMs?
PS. 1 more Q: is it COMPATIBLE with PowerAMP and its built-in equalizer?

Hi guys,
I just got a S3 (very happy so far), rooted with Omega 444 (amazing!). Anyway, UI used to use VolumeBoost to increase the volume on my HTC Desire for taking the noisy metro each morning. But it doesn't seem to work on the S3.
I used PowerAmp as my media player.
Any suggestions for the best app for boosting the volume? Ideally it should work without me having to open the app.
Thanks

dont know how volumeboost works, but in combination with poweramp most of the time you have to disable dvc in poweramp settings in order to get sound mods to work

Flash custom kernel Almost every kernel contains volume equalizer

But beware that if you flash a custom kernel with EQ, verify that it doesn't interfere with the Poweramp's EQ or any other app you use. Sometimes, kernel's EQ can be quite sensitive, depending on what you chose.

That's a bit hardcore for me...I'm a bit of a beginner concerning all things Flashing.
Guys I am running a TW based rom, blekota note 4.which is the best possible sound mod based on beats, dts,Sony or a combination of these
Bottom line: I want to increase the sound quality especially bass
You should use eXtremeBeats™. Its a combination of features from other sound mods plus some extra ones. Check out its XDA thread.
Credits to @Ben Feutrill
But does it work on TW based rom
Its AOSP but themed with touchwiz so it should work.
Hello, @Kiranrey.
First off I would like to say thankyou to @Jericho Arcelao for this recommendation.
I also have a Galaxy S3 so I can tell you how to get the best audio quality possible, like I do.
First off get a kernel that supports boeffla sound. Preferebly boeffla kernel or Siyah kernel. Flash that kernel that is supported by your device. Now open download boeffla kernel app or boeffla sound. Now go to the audio tab and tick:
DAC Direct
Oversampling
FLL Tuning
Now download eXtremebeats. Flash EXB's. And vollia! Enjoy premium quality sound. Let that WM1811 purr
Thanks for the info @Ben Feutrill

No problem,
Do tell us how it works out for you.
Its working great
Except that I am able to hear some distortion, when I check the speaker tuning option.
Otherwise my s3 gives sine quality sound .
Thanks to extreme beats.
Thanks again @Ben Feutrill

The speaker distortion only happens on AOSP roms. It's not my mod. I suggest getting a stock samsung touchwiz rom with beoffla kernel or agni they both have wolfson/boeffla sound.
