Phone freezing with flip wallet after display replacement - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
My one month old S6 Edge fell down last week and the front glass broke. However I used the phone normally until today when I got the display replaced in a store. With an original out of the box display from Samsung. After that I noticed that the back and app key (the lowest touch buttons one the front) did not light up at all, although they did work. When I put the phone in the flip wallet cover it went dark and did not respond anymore. I could here it getting emails or phone calls but the screen kept black. I pushed Volume Down and Off buttons until it restarted, with normal screen (the touch buttons also lit up for a second) but after loading normally the screen went black again. If I took it out of the wallet cover it lit up, the two keys also lit up, but the keys did not work at all. Again forced restart. Without the wallet cover the phone starts normally and works except that the touch buttons stay black, but they work. The moment I insert it into the cover it goes black.
It must have something to do with the magnet sensor?!
I took it back to the store, the guy put back the brocken screen and it acted again the same. Then he ordered the USB Board (the part with the charging port) just in case he may have broken it himself but actually he doesn't know if that will help.
Do you have any idea??
Thanks!

[Q] Streak 5 not displaying anything

So, being clumsy, I left my Streak in my hoodie pocket. Well, we can all see where this would end badly once I bent down to pick something up. I did, dropped my phone and cracked the screen.
I quickly went and bought a replacement glass + lcd display, and replaced the unit. But, upon turning the phone on, I noticed if I hit it a little too hard on one corner, It would restart, and the vibrator motor had ceased to work.
So I figured, hey, I'll just rebuild it again. So I took it apart. Looked through everything, took my time in putting it back together, because maybe everything wasn't fitting snug.
Now, When I turn it on, every thing is on, buttons light up, and the screen is lit up, but it is black. I never even get to the Dell logo. After about a minute the buttons dim, as if in idle. So i believe the phone still works, but maybe the connections on the MoBo is faulty? Any help would be nice, thanks.
check to see if the ribbons are snugged in place.

I agree take it apart and chech your work. I had problens with my camera and flash. It was tge connector not being fully seated
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Well, I just took off the rear cover and reseated all 3 connections, pushed em in as smoothly and far as they would go. But, same thing. Black screen. But the LED is still working...
I'm having the very same problem. This is my second replacement screen and neither displays anything except black screen with backlight on, and the home + settings + back buttons remain lit. I can hear my phone starting up and receiving messages, but I cannot see anything. I've taken the phone apart and put back together five times between two replacement screens.
Does anyone know what ribbon cable might be at fault for this particular issue? The largest ribbon cable was shipped bent across the circuit board on both screens; there is a permanent creese in both ribbon cables, but I'm not certain this is causing the issue.
Any insight or assistance with this issue would be greatly appreciated!

[Q] No Screen-Urgent

Hep needed pronto!
My wife dropped her S3 & despite having a cover and screen protector, the glass screen shattered but phone was fully functional.
I got a new one from an ebay seller and removed the broken glass successfully following this youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITFHge38Pig. Unfortunately, I was too zealous at the bottom end and sliced through the menu return flex cable. However the phone was still operable.
I got a new flex cable which I installed as per this youtube video last night http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o59-_9PPaZ. After connection of the cable to the motherboard, the phone was reassembled, powered up and display, touchscreen & menu buttons illuminated and functioned correctly.
I then removed the residual screen adhesive with the help of a little, heat cleaned the touch screen and placed 2mm adhesive strips as per the video. All was going great or so I thought. I placed the new glass screen, again gently heated all around the edges the soften the adhesive, placed a screen protector and powered up. To my horror the phone booted giving the samsung tune, menu buttons illuminated but no display. The touch screen works as clicks can be heard as do the menu/back buttons but no display. I have taken the glass off and reversed all I did and reinstalled but still no display.
I have tried installing kies and connecting but I keep getting device driver & connection errors (windows 7) as I read I could get the contacts and data off. Do I need to be logged in somehow in Samsung My Phone? I do seem to be able to see the faintest of images from the lock screen so perhaps the backlight or inverter have failed.
Therefore has anyone any ideas as to why I've lost the display when it did work and also why kies is not connecting?
I need answers before my wife slices me up wrecking her phone!!:crying:
Thanks in advance,
Geoff.
Too much heat is the most likely cause of the screen death, less is better with electronics. Your contacts will be in your Google account and I believe you may be able to extract data using adb pull in download/recovery mode (you'll need to search this as I've not tried it myself).

Changed digitizer, LCD doesn't work

Hey guys,
I am not sure if this is the right forum to ask, I am desperate and I need your help.
My navigation buttons started to push itself, so I disassembled my phone (gently of course)
I found out that the digitizer flat cable is torn like.. 3/4 of its width so that was probably the problem.
I ordered a new digitizer and it arrived yesterday, so I put everything together, started the phone and the LCD doesn't work.
When I start the phone it vibrates as usually, then the LCD screen turns on for couple of milliseconds so I can just barely see the HTC logo and then it turns black, the navigation buttons are lit and I've heard notifications after I let it run for 30 seconds.
What could be the problem? I checked multiple times if all the flat cables are plugged in correctly. It's weird that the LCD runs for couple of ms and then it turns black.
Thanks a lot for your answer,
Adam K.
How bright does the LCD get? It is possible the lighting element went bad.
It gets bright as usually, but just for half a second, then there's just black screen.

Galaxy Note 4 is Working, but the screen is black

My phone was working fine when I went to bed last night. I laid it on my night stand and this morning I noticed I couldn't get the screen to light up. The blue LED was blinking like I had messages. The Menu and Back buttons light up when I press them, and I can even hear when someone is calling me, but because the screen will not light up, I can't answer. The phone screen is in near perfect condition, not a scratch or crack on it and I also have a cheap protective screen over it.
Hoping it was just a glitch, I removed the battery and held the power button for about 45 seconds and powered it back on. Same thing, black screen during the entire boot process, no logos or anything. I also tried to boot it in safe mode with same results. There is only one time that the screen shows any signs of life and it only happens when I first power it on. In the top left corner for a split second, where the usual "Bootloader is unlocked" message appears, it displays a small rectangle of colored artifacts inside that small message area.
I assume the LCD went out, but I'm concerned it could also be related to the GPU or other hardware, and so don't want to spend a lot of money buying a LCD if it's something else. I can still connect it to the PC, so I'm hoping someone knows how I can test the hardware from the PC, or at least recommend something. Right now the phone is ringing and I have no idea who it is...this sucks!
