Hi,
Whenever I try to set a photo as my wallpaper, the Gallery app just says "unable to save cropped image." It doesn't happen to all photos; it only happens to .PNG photos (which also appear blurry in my gallery). It's been frustrating me for quite a while now, and I haven't found any ways on how to fix it. I've tried force stopping the app, clearing the cache and data, and even wiping the cache parition. No luck!
I've tried using 3rd party gallery apps, and the images appear crisp on them (as I've mentioned before, .PNG images also appear blurry in my gallery), however, if I try to set the wallpaper using the 3rd party gallery apps, it'll show the same thing-"unable to save cropped image".
I'm really hoping someone can help! I'm not sure what caused this problem. My gallery app was working fine before the Lollipop update.

Did you find any solution for this problem ?
I'm having the same issue.
The way I fixed this was to open it up in the photo editor, "crop" it to the exact same size it was and save it again - it'll create a duplicate, but I believe it saves it as a .jpeg. The issue is just popping up with .png pictures.

It's in the market too but it won't display pics in 3d
I hate this problem too, a workaround is to open the camera app and click the preview box in the corner. That will allow you to view the most recently taken pictures first, and when you switch to grid view it will start at the bottom.
Did you know that, when scrolling through the photos, there is a function similar to what you get in the addressbook (People)? Once you start scrolling and the little scrubber/scroll bar appears, grab it and move it manually. It'll allow you to fly through the images in a second. As you're doing so, it'll even give you a pop up of the date of the photos where you'd be if you stopped scrolling. I hope that helps.
I think the other annoying thing I've seen in every Android phone (or not seen) is the ability to choose a folder before/as you're taking photos where it will save to. On top of this I don't like the HTC photo numbering scheme (image sequence) instead of time stamp as a name. I prefer the time stamp as you don't have to worry about duplicates, repeats, or conflicting names when moving and shuffling photos from phone to phone or computer for backup.
TL;DR:
Recently I have been working to get my homescreens a little cleaner. I started using a tool called DesktopVisualizer. It allows for "Tiles" or "Icons" to be placed as shortcuts instead of the icons you normally use. It allows for a cleaned up WP7 look. The one major drawback is you have to download "tile packs" or make them yourself. The app is great, but the problem is in our gallery app.
OUR STOCK GALLERY SCANS AND LOADS ALL THE 300+ TILES/ICONS IN TO MY GALLERY! I could not stand this! I started looking into how to hide stuff from the media gallery.
Hiding Folders: "." Folders and ".nomedia" Files:
Turns out they built a neat function into android that allows for hiding things from the gallery: a .nomedia file. Placing a blank file with that name into a directory (or root directory) causes the STOCK GALLERY to skip over the folder. So, if you are like me and have some naughty pics of your g/f, ALBUM COVERS, or other misc pics you dont want to see in the gallery; drop that little file in there and it will skip it.
Another way to accomplish this is to stick a . in front of the folder name. If you have a folder called "Pr0n" change it to ".Pr0n". This will do the same thing as the nomedia, however some apps/file explorers cannot see these guys as this is the "hidden attribute" for the folder.
The problem with the Atrix, and other devices that have custom galleries, is they scan EVERYTHING. You can place nomedia files in, periods, anything, they still come parading in to the gallery. "What the hell can I do", you ask? Well, we put in a nice new gallery.
Gallery3d.APK:
Ok, so I have attached the AOSP type of gallery from CM7. I think I "heard" some place that the CM7 gallery is tweaked a little, however I didnt notice any differences. So, download and install as normal, sideload it, whatever. Once its on, you are good to go. The only problem, if you freeze the 2.3.4 gallery from Moto, the camera app wont pull your pics. Everything in the cam still works as far as functionality to take pics. The problem is when/if you click on the small pic in the corner of the view finder(your gallery), it will give some error about "No gallery installed". I'm sure there is a way around this, but for now I just have both installed and use only the 3D gallery. Using LauncherPro I hid the other icon to keep "phone handlers" from going through my UBER gallery when they pick up my phone to play with it. This way I get the nice gallery3d, but still get the full sharing functionality of the moto gallery should I want to share straight from my camera.
There you have it. I have given you the the gallery apk, pros and cons, and how to hide folders. Knock yourselves out. OH! If you happen to get the cam to work with the 3D instead 2.3.4, please post a how to in here as well.
Thank you so much i have been wanting this on my atrix i hate the new galery in moto
Also check out Gallery Excluder in the Market for hiding folders with this method.

How do I get to the file on my Moto phone
Hey there, don't post often but I have been having an issue with my i777 and GT-N7000 where pics taken in portrait will be turned sideways when sent via MMS. I have dinked around with it a lot in the last couple days and found a decent solution. Its a 3part fix that needs 3 apps. First download the new Handcent 4.0 (maybe other text apps will work, handcent is just what I am using) then get Camera Zoom FX, and Lightbox. With these three apps you can get around the problem easily.
First open up Camera Zoom FX, go into settings, and under the "Save" menu, check off "Auto Save" (before doing this, none of the photos I was texting were saved in the gallery) Now open up the Camera +Lightbox app that was included in your Lightbox App download. When prompted, choose "Camera Zoom FX" as your default Camera. Now finally, open up handcent and send a picture text. When asked for the default camera to use, choose "Camera + Lightbox" as your default camera.
All your portrait texts should be sent correctly. I searched all over the web for "sideways MMS" and found lots of questions but no answers. If anyone has something easier please advise, otherwise I hope the info above works as well for you as it did for me!

After I take a pic in portrait mode, I go into my gallery and select the picture I just took. Then I hit menu and select edit then crop. I make sure to fit the whole image inside the crop bars as to not cut off any of the picture. Then save. The picture should save as a new image or edited image. Select the saved image to send as MMS and it should stay in portrait mode. Works for me without the need for extra apps. Hope that helps.

Yep, thanks for that. I knew this was possible if you were texting something already in your gallery. My post was more geared to snapping from Handcent (possibly others) and immediately sending without any additional steps. The info above does nothing for sending a pic already in your gallery and you still have to do the crop trick you suggested to get those to go out correctly. This whole issue is so irritating to me, it can't be that hard for Samsung to fix, surely they know about it?!

It's not samsungs fault, as it works fine on a Samsung based Rom. It's using CM7/9 or AOKP where there is an issue.

That's weird. I only have the issue running MIUI or AOKP.
Just copied some of my photosphere shots into the "Camera" folder of the installed Gallery app, but it looks like the Gallery app itself cant
read the photos in a "photosphere" format ( not appear in the gallery), is there anyway to solve this? Need some help here, thank you very much~:fingers-crossed:
So I have been using the burst mode option on the S5 camera quite regularly to get that perfect shot of lightning or to catch the waves crashing in on a lake, even to get some action shots of my kids. One of the great things about this feature I found was the ability to play them almost like an animated gif right from your gallery so when showing off some of my pictures I could play them for people.
After wiping and installing a new ROM, it seems the association between these pictures has been lost. The pictures are still there, but the "play" feature has been lost. If anybody out there has any experience with this and found a way to get the pictures to re-associate with each other so they can be played again and could provide me with their solution that would be awesome.
Thanks in advance, and I completely understand that wiping and installing a new ROM may have lost that "play" option forever with the older photos, but I'd like to at least try.
Custom ROM: XtreStoLite 1.3a G900T UVU1BNG3
Kernal: 3.4.100--KT-SGS5-KK4.4-TW-G900-08.04.2014--ktoonsez #2
First you should make an effort to see if that "feature" is present in your new ROM. There is no reason to necessary expect it to be there. Make some new brackets (burst shot sequences) and see if they play he way you want. If they don't and there is nothing in the settings menu to toggle such an option, it would be reasonable to conclude that it isn't a feature in this ROM. In which case you will have to go without the feature, revert to your previous ROM or look for a third party app that may add that feature.
If the feature does work for new brackets, then look for an "import" feature in your gallery app. Failing that ensure that your old shots are in the same directory as the new brackets. If not, then move the old ones to your the new folder that the system uses and then do a media scan.
As a last resort, you can try going to the application manager in the settings menu and clear the cache and data for the gallery app. This will reset all settings and after the system rescans the media folders (after a reboot anyway), it may index all of your brackets.
.
Thanks for the reply. The new ROM has burst mode, but the wipe seems to have killed to any connected indexing of old pics. Tried all your suggestions, nothing got me where I wanted to go.
