A search on this has revealed using an xposed module to do this but I'm wondering if it's possible to edit the generic.kl key map file to launch a different camera app? I've had a scan through the file but can't figure out which key it is nor how I would launch an app.

Looking to remap my home key, and my menu and back soft keys on my s3. I've looked at editing scripts, and even Xposed modules for this and here is what I found.
I can remap my keys manually, but I cannot map them to open an application.
With Gravity Box Module, I can map the applications to launch on a double press or a long press.
Here is what I want to do with a single tap.
[MENU SOFT KEY] [HOME KEY] [BACK SOFT KEY]
Open Phone Open search Open Camera
Is there an xposed module for this?
Bump.

I've reset them in the touchkeys.kl file under keychars, but I cannot get CAMERA to map on the back button. I can get other actions too, but CAMERA Won't map. Here's my thread in the 747 section.

I'm doing a few tweaks on my phone, mainly not using the capacitive keys as menu and back, and using the home key as the app switcher, and using the nav bar for those three tasks. Here's what I've got so far.
I edited a few files under system/usr/keylayout
The Menu and Search key layouts were found under sec_touchkey.kl(Home was also found under this, but I had to also edit sec_keys.kl and sec_key.kl to get the home key as the app switcher)
Here's the default settings.
key 139 MENU VIRTUAL
key 158 BACK VIRTUAL
key 102 HOME
key 217 SEARCH
Here's what I set them to.
key 139 CALL VIRTUAL
key 158 CAMERA VIRTUAL
key 102 APP_SWITCH
key 217 SEARCH
Changing the roles of keys 139 and 102 worked, but Camera does not open the camera. I've tried assigning different roles to key 158 and they've worked except for the camera role. So I'm thinking CAMERA is not the correct event name to open the camera up....

That's where I got the keyEvent listings from.

Trying to remap the long press on the menu button on my S5 by editing the .kl files.
Managed to get single press to open menu, but long press refuses to do anything other than open first the google search, then samsung's search apps.
EDIT: Partially solved, nova launcher was set to open search, now it only opens the samsung one. Still doesnt open recent apps.
Xposed framework button remapper manages to do it, so I know it's possible, but there's no hapatic feedback
All suggestions welcome!
Hi, I'm trying to simulate a long press of the home button in order to launch 'Google now on tap' as my phone (elephone p9000, stock 6.0, rooted) has got rid of the navigation bar in favour of a single capacitive button, which uses the long press function to launch recent apps instead of Google now on tap and I can't find any other way to launch this service. You can bring the navigation bar back but this interferes with other functionality I have set up now. Can anyone please tell me either an app that can run a script to simulate the home key long press or alternatively another way to create a shortcut to launch Google now on tap as right now I'm having to go into settings reactivate the navigation bar, long press home and then deactivate it after. Not exactly streamlined! Thanks for any advice.
Would be great to be able to assign Google now on tap to the fast access Button on the left. I miss it myself and dont want to use one Screen Navigation.

There's actually 2 very straightforward ways of doing this, one of which is I thought I'd tried but obviously not very well. You can launch the Now on Tap feature by assigning it to a gesture in either LMT pie control or another 3rd party app called All In 1 Gestures. If this isn't clear just ask.
Anybody figured this? What would the shortcut show up as using a third party app. I can see Google but how would you access Google now on tap? Doesn't show up as a shortcut.

I'm trying to remap a double press of the power button to open an app. I have tried powy but the app chrashes and I don't think you can remap the actions to a specific app so it doesn't work for me. If anybody has found a similar app or an xposed module that does this please reply.

Is there a way to remap the assistant button (to camera shutter button) without root?
Yes you can you need another app for mapper. Under that app you can map google assistance to camera apps.
You can remove google assistance using adb and you can create short cut for camera.
So 5.4 bootloader still unlockable? Anyone using exposed like solution for now?
