Mediapad X1 Apps going to sleep in the background - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Got a Mediapad X1 and it has its own memory manager apparently. There's a power manager app that lets you "Protect" apps from being killed in the background when the screen is off. (I though we we're finally over using task killers, come on Huawei), anyways. Some of the apps like Google Hangouts will still stop showing notifications after a while when the screen is off even thought it is listed as a protected app.
What's going on here? Just seems like the Protected App thing doesn't seem to work for everything. You certainly don't want texting app going to sleep.

Same here
I also see the same issue on my mediapad (unlocked, no contract, imported from Thailand): notifications are not being pushed to the interface by Skype, Telegram, Hangouts, and even some games that I receive regular announcements when running on my phone.
I checked the protected apps section and the notifications center sections, the apps are allowed in both.

I am on the latest B011 and I am also experiencing the same issues. Google auto sync is very erratic, Gmail does not auto sync most of the time. Weather / calendar widgets do no refresh. I updated to official B011 recently before that I was on beta kit kat 320 dpi emui 2.3 and was happy. Any ideas what is happening?

Damn, I was hoping B011 would fix it. It's just a bad memory manager. Huawei decided to use a built in task killer to stop all apps that aren't "Protected" from running in the background.

[Q] How to hide unwanted Google Play app updates?

Hi, is there any way to hide updates in Google Play for apps you do NOT want to update? A couple examples would be Google Maps (the latest version lacks zoom buttons and some other features, so I stick with an older, better, modded version: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265484 ) and Yahoo Mail (recent updates now have ads in the inbox which look like emails). Of course, whenever I update other apps, unwanted ones like these are in the list. Besides being a visual annoyance, it eliminates the usage of the "Update All" feature. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I suspected that might be the case. I haven't found any modified versions of the APK, nor would I know how to mod it, so I guess I'll just have to live with it. Thank you, sir!

What's the differences have you noticed after Deep Hibernation is enabled?

I want to make sure the Deep Hibernation (in v2.6 beta 5 with Xposed) is working as expected, in all circumstances but not just my test cases.
In which case, a hibernated app stays hibernated instead of being woken before? (without wake-up paths cut-off)
In which case, a hibernated app is still woken by another app (tell me which and when) with Deep Hibernation? Please also report the information shown in Greenify, like "Facebook is woken by Messenger: LoginService".
Note: Don't forget to reboot once after upgrading to beta 5.

beta 5 improved the Deep Hibernation. It's now supposed to stop hibernated apps from being woken by most services.

That means some other app had requested the content from Email app.
It's a known restriction on current implementation that wake-up source of this type ("content provided") cannot be detected and stopped.

No, latest 5 isn't compatible with versions other than 5.x. You can use the stable, the only new feature is the deep hibernation and some minor fixes. Most changes are to be compatible with lollipop.

As per the What's New, 2.6-beta5 is for 4.4+, not 5+.
I'm using it on my Note 3 with 4.4.4; no issues. Getting great results with deep hibernation too; averaging between, I'd guesstimate, 0.5% and 2% per hour when screen's off. I'd have to look at BMW to see the exact numbers, but offhand, without Greenify I'd get something like 4 hours 100-0%; now, I'm getting 15+ hours with the same usage.
hangouts doesn't work with deep hibernation on. must be syncing google offline credentials every 50 secs to be able to send an sms trough hangouts. I still recieve them with no problem. Just can't send any with deep hibernation activated. after deactivating it all works fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into this case.
Hi oasis, I really like this new feature! It's working flawlessly for me on the S3 with 4.4.4.
Anyway it would be really nice to add some kind of white list for the deep hibernated apps to "see" some other apps. This is especially important for apps purchased by amazons app store.
(Paid) Apps downloaded from there are mostly checking if the app store is still installed during their startup. They can't find it on the phone, report this issue and keep closing after that.
The only (cumbersome) workaround for this atm is to launch the app store every time prior to launch these deep hibernated apps.
Hi Oasis, just wanted give feedback on the latest improvements of deep hibernation from today (beta 10 I guess). The Problem still exists

Thanks for your feedback. I'm considering the possibility to make the "Deep Hibernation" an option on a per-app basis.

That really would be a welcome feature! :good: There are only a few apps that require a "deep sleep".
Anyway, it's like that just for me and in my case. But I think that it applies to other users as well.
I have unrooted Note 4 Exynos and I've been using Greenify for a week. Having an odd issue now. When I fully charge my phone, it consumes battery very low in the beginning but when charge drops about %60, battery level decreases dramatically. I use automated hibernation, keep notification and greenifying system apps features and this is my problem. So, what to do?

Why do you think that it is related to Greenify? Did you check which app is draining your battery?

[Q] Greenify disables apps running on the foreground

Greenify "greenifies" applications that are in active use, for example Google Maps that I use for navigation and music streaming and player apps like Deezer and Vanilla Music. By "foreground" I mean that the application is currently in use, I don't go back to home screen. I just turn of my screen to save battery. Music playback cuts off after a minute or so and the only solution is to "degreenify" all music player apps. Google Maps will reset shortly when my screen turns off.
Is this how Greenify works?
The latest version with the donation package. [UNOFFICIAL] Xposed for Android 5.1 - API v64 / Alpha 4 / 20150514, HTC One M7. Xposed is enabled in the Greenify settings.
Greenify is designed to not hibernating the currently foreground app. Are you using any 3rd-party lock-screen app? It might interfere the recognition of foreground app.

Not to my knowledge. I'm on CyanogenMod 12.1.
I've experienced similar behavior for quite some time as well, on my Nexus 5 (LP 5.1.1, although I believe the issue goes back to at least 5.0). I am not running a custom lockscreen, nor can I think of anything that would steal the foreground.
Was Greenify compatible with the Unofficial Xposed for Lollipop 5.1 before the today's update?
I only tested a bit, but Greenify seems to be working correctly now :victory:
I'm currently having this same problem with Google music and greenify

Same problem.
All apps are hibernated after some minutes of screen off.
Before this bug: runtastic and music player active while jogging -> screen off -> all apps beside those too get hibernated
Now: runtastic and music player active -> screen off -> ALL apps get hibernated
Please fix it.
I think it's cm12.1 related.
Tried with Greenify 2.6.2 and 2.7.x all betas.
Still the same.

It's really unusable at the moment. And I don't wanna downgrade to an older nightly (stagefright issue,...)
Same problem here!
I do not know whether this is related to recent CM updates, but I am also running Greenify on CyanogenMod 12.1 (20150816 nightly on LG D855) and Greenify is hibernating Spotify while it is playing (despite it's ongoing event notification). Both Greenify latest stable and latest beta versions have this issue (I was running stable and then updated to beta while trying to resolve this issue).
There is no need to hibernate Spotify.

The issue has been fixed in version 2.7 beta 8.
Many thanks to @oasisfeng for quick solution!
I get the "app is not installed" error when updating to the newest beta.
The older versions don't have the fix what I'm looking for.

GCM Wake up doesnt post notifications[5.1]

Well, i have observed it with Facebook Messenger and Viber, should be the same issue with other greenified applications
The GCM push works fine, but the problem is, that the notification won't be visible till i actually open or unlock my screen
That said, i can see that the application has been woken by a push( seconds or minutes before i get the notification) but you can't see it till you actually open the phone so the application opens in foreground.
I am almost definitely sure this used to work at KitKat normally
I have tested this using Greenify beta(the latest) with the xposed-alpha 14-05 on OnePlus One

I can confirm this too! @oasisfeng you should definitely look into this issue.I've tried it on my two devices running 5.0.2 and 5.1.1 respectively. The notification doesn't come through until I wakeup the screen. The app is waken up but the notification doesn't arrive until I turn on the screen.
Removing the app from greenified list fixes the issue.

Well sometimes, after a random amount of time it may appear.. But the randomness is what troubles me as well..
@oasisfeng Can confirm this. Unless I turn on the screen manually, I don't hear the notification chime. And yes, it did work fine in KitKat.

Hi again, I have managed to get it work again. I degreenified all apps, deselected everything under experimentally features. After a reboot I ticked off my normal feature set. And voila I'm getting gcm messages again! I guess I messed something up by using titanium...

Can you be more precise in what you've done?
For now I've made an app with Tasker that closes Facebook and Messenger and then Greenify all my app list and then locks system, so to not put Facebook and Messenger on Greenify and have push messages, but don't constantly have them on Active Apps last if used.
If you want I can share it.

OK. I'll try to explain a bit more precisely.
My issue was, that e.g. whatsapp does not receive messages while greenified. I had to start it manually to see if I got new messages.
This started a few days ago with my new phone. Before the new phone I had no problems with greenify in combination with cm12.1.
Here my steps:
1. Remove all Apps from greenify
2. Remove all options from experimental features
3. Restart the phone
4. Select all apps that I want to greenify
5. Reselect my normal options under experimental options.
That's it
Regards
Unfortunately this didn't work for me. But I tried something else that might be helpful. I use Amplify and decided to disable it temporarily to see if I received the GCM push and the notifications, and yes, it did work flawlessly. I might have stopped a wakelock or a service being of google that might be helpful in this.

Well, it didn't help much. I tried flashing all the ROMs available for S3 and it works, partially, in the latest BlissPop. The thing is that GCM push gets received instantaneously but the notification doesn't get posted. It does though, like after 30 mins or so. But never soon enough.
any news why GCM doesnt work proberly anymore with some apps like WhatsApp ? It used to work so i wonder if this a ROM, App, Xposed or Greenify problem.
About 6-8 weeks ago i had this working with CM12.1 on a GT-I9505 (Galaxy S4) with at that time actual apps, modules and ROM.

Facebook and Messenger won't hibernate

Hello guys, I have a problem with the Facebook and Messenger app, they don't hibernate even if I manually hibernate them.
I tried cutting off the wakelock path, ignoring running state and enabling deep hibernation, but even after that I open the app to find them in the "will hibernate when screen is off" section. They've been draining my battery crazily!
Any other suggestions to do?
Same here. I think a recent Messenger update somehow changed something that prevents Greenify from hibernating it. I am using Lolliop via CM 12.1 Nighly (the very last one before CM 13).
I thought so too and rolled back to some older version, still the same problem with no luck. It's extremely frustrating.
Having the same problem here after their latest update.
Same problem, I mean I only lost like 4% over 5 hours but it should be a lot less, it was Facebook and messenger in my partial wakelocks
I used amplify to limit the wakelocks by them, the wakelock is called bugreporter and so far it hasn't affected notifications, and now they don't keep the device awake anymore.
You can also download older versions which didn't cause the issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64816556&postcount=28

details:
CM13 nightly 20160116
Xposed 79,
Greenify 2.8 beta 9
Same with me, i uninstalled FB but i need messenger for chatting
Also the persistant notification from Messenger seems to prevent it from sleeping (Sequence : Messenger is hibernating, I receive a GCM push that wake him up but then it keep being "up" if i don't throw away the pop-up....). Or maybe i'm totally wrong dunno
CM13
Xposed
Greenify Beta 9

Same here, really frustrating.
Same here, I came here to look if there's anyone else with this problem.

Workaround
This may be a workaround for now but this is what I did: I tapped on Facebook to highlight it. I then tapped the three-dot menu and selected "Put into hibernation now". A popup then showed-up warning of possible data loss or functionality problems. There is a checkbox in the popup for "Always ignore app state". I ticked it and continued. I did the same procedure for Messenger.
They usually get rid of this trick
With Amplify it's ok.. no more drain from messenger..
