Charging issue after lollipop update - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

I upgraded to 5.1 the other day using the package offered on Huawei's own site. Had to use the force upgrade method, which I did while the phone was plugged into an outlet using the factory charger. Since then, my battery has crapped out on me. I left it to charge all night and when I woke up it was still stuck at roughly 30%. In the span of two days I have tried multiple chargers and performed a factory reset. Somehow I managed to charge it up to 78%, but now it's stuck at that percentage. Anyone have a clue what could possible be preventing it from fully charging?

I have not seen this or heard it from anyone else. Maybe your hardware has an issue?

That's what I was thinking. As 322 rewrites pretty much everything coming from 4.3. The batteries are hard to replace. But it is doable. Someone posted about doing it. And there is a video of it being done on YouTube. You could also try reflashing 322 first.

I've read one other report on the Huawei forum of someone having a similar issue, except he is able to recharge only after the phone has been discharged to 9%. My thoughts are maybe there is some kind of power conservation trigger or something? I've never had any problem charging my phone to 100% prior to installing the update. If it is a hardware issue, it chose the perfect time to malfunction...
I'm gonna try to downgrade back to 4.3 and see if the issue persists.

That should work to. First i have heard of it on stock ROM. Still may want to try reflashing 322 first. Then4.3. Some ran into issues reverting to 4.3. The file system changes evidently can screw up. Let us know how you resolve it in case someone else runs into the same issue.

Just curious, I'm completely new to android, but could you possibly point me in the direction of how to proceed with reflashing 322? Gonna try it when I get back home from work this afternoon.

That thread has everything you may need in it. Just download the 322 update to your SD card and boot holding down all three buttons. Volume up and down and power. Let it run. Here is Huawei official page with the download and the instructions.

I think you probably already did that, but want to mention it regardless. Have you tried turn off phone completely, the boot up and charge? Also charge it when phone is off? I am saying this because the other days I learned reboot the phone is different from turn off then turn on.

Tried downgrading to 148 yesterday, woke up with a 25% charge, same as it was when I plugged it in last night. I also tried the above recommendations for charging while the phone is off, restarting, etc. I have scoured other forums for this issue and found similar stories with other model phones. I'm now thinking it's a hardware issue with a mechanism that senses the battery's status.

Very odd indeed. Have you tried completely draining the battery? Then charge while phone is off.. Is it still under warranty?

I have had luck disconnecting the battery, rebooting on outlet power and reconnecting the battery.(this WILL VOID your warranty) Not gospel thou, could have been luck. Reflash if you didn't already first. There are some screwy things that happen, I for instance have a phone that I cannot get back to JB for anything. When it boots it uses stock android bootanimation from system/bin not /cust folder.
If you replace the battery peel carefully or you'll break the LCD.
I don't think its battery thou.

Yep. Tried all of the above. After downgrading to 148, the phone wouldn't even charge even while plugged in. Fortunately, it is still under warranty so I'm sending it in to be serviced...
Unfortunately for me, the entire reason I bought this phone is because it is unlocked and I am leaving for Germany next friday. I bought it hoping to be able to plug a sim from a local phone co. overseas and just go. Now I'll probably have to get a relative to ship it to me after they finish repairs.
And by the way, I initially installed B322 using the forced method. I didn't think it would make a difference. Guess I was wrong.

[Q] [HELP PLEASE] HTC Evo 3D CDMA sudden death :(

Hello there. I´m worried because my Evo 3D CDMA won´t boot or charge at all. The red light is not turning on. All happened apparently with no reason, I left the phone there a few minutes, then it was dead. Maybe if I tell what I did before can help...
I had installed a few minutes ago the Virus ROM 3.0, I flash roms almost every 3 days, so I´m used to it. So, it worked fine after installation. I began to play a few games, when the battery died. I conected it to the charger, waited a few minutes and turned it on again (still plugged to the charger), it started normally. Then I had to answer a phone call, when I got back, the phone was dead!! "Maybe the charger got disconected" I thought. But the charger was fine, I tried many different chargers and nothing.
The red light is not turning on.
I´ve tried many different buttons combinations (camera+power), etc. I can´t get into fastboot (power+volume down). I´m S-ON HBOOt 1.5. So there is no CWM. I have to use windows CMD every time I need to flash Something.
Can this be a battery issue (considering that when the phone died it had about 3% of battery), or is it a fried motherboard, perhaps? It had happened before, but I removed the batttery for a few minutes and It worked.
But I´m scared because the phone is brand new, and it has less of two months of average using. And don´t tell me to go to Sprint service since I´m in El Salvador and I got the phone at eBay.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
My fiest EVO 3d did this, the guy told me that it was a lemon. I got a instant replacement, not sure if its in the discovered mode by a dev,
Pull the battery, unplug charger, then battery back in and try turn on.

I hope it is only the battery, because it´s not expensive... But do you think I should try charging the battery manually? You know, some people say it´s a good way to restore a battery,,,,
maybe the battery or bricked phone

Actually we have CDMA in El Salvador too... The rom installed fine, and was running fine, the phone died while.. let me remember... Ah, I was installing a Chainfire 3D plugin, but I had never problems with Chainfire in any rom before, so the big deal is,
1) Is it a faulty battery? I remember once, the battery died the red light started blinking. Maybe the battery is bad.
2) Is it hard bricked? or soft bricked?
3) If it is bricked, is there a way to restore it?

I doubt it was bricked due to the phone wouldn't boot at all when you got it.. Did you update the radios or software when you got it? I know the latest software for CDMA is 2.17 virus R75 to R80 3.0 eternity is based and built off it...
My guess is the battery is shot I would try that you can find them cheap..... So the red light doesn't come on at all when you plug it in with the battery in the phone..?
You would really have to spank a phone to brick it... If the hardware isn't broken you should be able to restore a bricked phone... That takes skill and alot of reading....
What other chargers did you try? Could be the usb cord is bad or the charger... Battery could be no good. Last thing it could be is a bad charger port... Maybe..

I got the phone brand new. I have
1) Unlocked bootloaders via HTC metod
2) Installed tons of roms (I`m a flashaholic)
3) Never installed an incorrect ROM or kernel.
And yes, no light at all when I plug the phone to the charger. it`s totally dead.
UPDATE
I have discovered something about a RUU. check it out:
"This is a link to the Evo stock RUU and a description of what it does. It isn’t anything that wasn’t available already online, I just like providing a central location to get everything.
What is this?
RUU is the way that our phones are flashed at the factory. It flashes all the factory images on to your phone.
What can I do with it?
You can use this to “unroot” your phone before sending it in for warranty work.
Use it to flash back to stock if you are having any random issues on your phone that you can’t fix.
It can 100% flash your phone back to how it came from the factory. As long as your phone turns on at all (even if it’s not booting) then you should be able to save it by using this.
This means your phone is virtually unbrickable, unless you go flashing a radio or SPL or something that you shouldn’t.
How do I use it?
Download the file below and run the exe.
What else do I need to know?
This will set your phone back to 100% bone stock.
You don’t need to run this unless you are trying to return your phone to stock. You won’t get anything special from running it."
IF I RUN THIS PROGRAM, IS IT POSSIBLE I CAN GET MY PHONE BACK TO LIFE?

Your phone would have to be on like in Hboot or in a rom....And need to fastboot flash stock recovery... or make it a zip file to do....
Also you would have to relock your phone.. Once it was relocked you could run this...
I am only going off what I have seen haven't had to relock my phone to throw stock on it... I have seen some guides in the dev section to do it.. But the phone has to be on to get the sucker to work,,,,
My guess is the battery is no good... If it's brand new I don't know why the charger port would be bad in it... I would try another battery first man...

Happened to me before. Try leaving it on charge for 8 hrs or so and remove the battery and replace every so often. BTW I got it on virus eternity as well. Also, I would get an extended battery to kill two birds with one stone if the previous method doesn't work.

Hello guys, I'm experimenting the same issue! It was working like a charm, then I left without simcard in airplane mode, but with wifi on.
When out from wifi coverage, it turned off (maybe because of the battery drain) and can't bring it back to life!
This is just incredible, I can't believe there is no way to wake up it.
I'm trying to charge with its charger, with PC connection and nothing happens: red light for a little while and everything off again after a couple of seconds ... I'm getting nervous :-(
I don't think the phone is bricked or a bad battery. When you plug the charger in, turn the light off in the room and see if the phone charging led is very dim. Sometimes when my battery is very low and I put it in the charger it does this. The other scenario is that the phone may be in download mode which I doubt. If it is then you can follow the last steps from the hboot 1.50 downgrade guide.

I just skimmed the posts so sorry if I missed it, but...
Have you tried "adb reboot recovery" just to see what happens?

[Q] Returning the Rezound after unlocking

So two days ago my rezound started randomly rebooting...I thought it was the new ICS rom I had just put on (the newest leak) so I desided to nandroid back to an older ICS that ran smoothly before. Same reboots... and the phone gets hot. So I figured I would just let it rest a night and took the battery out. No Joy.
Today, I RUU'd back to stock and things were running ok for a while... but as soon as I plugged it in my car... reboot after reboot.
I bought it at Best Buy as they had a better deal and better insurance. My only concern is that big ReLocked on the bootloader.
Has anyone successfully returned the phone after unlocking? Hoping doing that didn't negate that insurance. I guess I don't mind stepping on accident on it if need be.
Have you tried this fix?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394659
No, I hadn't until now... will try tonight, but the phone will stay operational for a while... just seems to be when I charge it from the wall or car charger... charging using USB trickle charge, it doesn't reboot as much. I don't hink is has to do with the network connecting thing....as it does boot up and I can make calls... and search online, and use the navigator... until it just gets to hot.

I know this might be a long shot but since our devices don't have s-off, restoring nandroid backups don't restore the boot.img. did u try flashing the stock kernel? I'd try flashing the latest GB kernel, then flash the latest GB stock ruu? I had a similar issue and found out it was the kernel I was using. Was on anthrax kernel
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
Well, I RUU'd back to the OTA...renamed the .zip to PH___.zip and rebooted into fastboot and it updated everything. I then restart and everything is back to square one, like I just opened the box and activated it.
I presume the RUU flashes over the right kernel as released by Verizon.
I'm really thinking the battery is crapping out. can't hold a charge more the 42% and gets hot...then run out in like 20 minutes... throw in a couple reboots...and higher blood pressure ensues.

I don't have insurance, but I returned a relocked Rezound to VZ online for overheating a couple months ago with no problems.
99 out of 100 times, the rep will not check to see if the phone is relocked, let alone if he knows how to check it.
You're worrying over nothing. If the device is defective due to manufacterer defect, and breaks down becaue of said default. They will honor warranty/exchanges since they are the ones at fault. Now if you fragged your phone because of an oc, bad flash, wrong software, that's your own bad and you're on your own. Unless you have insurance and the phone met its untimely end under your vehicle.
Thanks for all the help... I went and bought a new battery for it, and it does the same thing. Re-locked and bringing it back to best buy today. Fired up my ole OG and flashed the newest MIUI release... the phone is still kicking!
So, two days without the rezound and I'm tweaking..... need to flash a Rom! (Maybe this will be good for me.....)

[Q]Bootloop Issue

Ok, so my fiancee's at&t note is stuck in a bootloop. I had it running on Blackstar, and since giving it to her hadn't bothered messing with the setup as it was stable. On her way home from work she apparently left the phone in her truck while making a stop in 92 degree weather(Farenheit). Now it will show both Samsung screens and then bootloop. I did some searching here on the forums and have tried everything I can find/think of. Here's a list of everything I've done:
1. Booted into twrp recovery, wiped data, cache, and sdcard for good measure.
2. Got to lockscreen, bootloop.
3. Used ODIN to push Samsung stock files onto phone, including recovery.
4. Got to AT&T easy setup screen, bootloop.
5. Used stock recovery to do hard reset.
6. Still bootlooping from second Samsung screen.
7. Removed back of phone, cleaned power button.
8. Still bootlooping.
I should note that the phone never booted itself after a battery pull, but I figured cleaning the power button couldn't hurt any.
Is there anything else I can try before going to at&t to have it fixed?
UPDATE: Thanks rangercaptain for that. I had totally forgotten Kies had the Firmware recovery. Unfortunately, it didn't work. And AT&T, well, we all know how they are about out of warranty phones. So I'm seemingly stuck, but I did have a thought. If the battery overheated, and malfunctioned, could it cause this? Would it be worth the 10 bucks to order a replacement OEM battery on Amazon and see if it fixes it?
Kies emergency firmware upgrade. Factory cable. Rear (powered) usb port on pc. Battery fully charged. Serial and model number under battery (all capital letters). Pray.
Don't quote, reply. If you quote, edit.
The battery try might be worth a shot. If not.... Surely mobiletechvideos could fix it. If they can be brought back from the dead, surely they can be brought out of bootloop.

Definitely try the battery. I had exactly this same problem, and even though the old battery seemed to be taking a charge, it was still screwing everything up (in the same ways you described). A new battery fixed everything*.
* - Ok, it actually it took a couple ROM reinstalls, to fix everything I apparently screwed up while trying to fix the devices before switching out the batteries.
Thanks for the info. I went ahead and ordered a new bateery, it'll be here Monday, so hopefully that works. I have the phone flashed stock with Kies at the moment, so I would hope I don't have to do any more reflashing if the battery is the issue.
Yeah i have the same issue. I was running blackstar. I had some issues occasionally with it crashing, nothing major. decided to install JB once ATT had official out. Wiped, installed, gets to att logo and reboot... please post your fix if it works. I have a second battery. I'll give it a shot but I have been keepeing it plugged in while doing these things and it still doesnt work.
"Wiped, installed, gets to att logo and reboot..."
If you're getting to the att logo, it may not be a battery problem. I'd suggest reinstalling the update after manually wiping everything using CWM.

Tried a couple flashes, with the debloated and bloated Roms based on Official JB. I can get to the getting started screen sometimes. typically I hit the next button and it goes into bootloop. once or twice i was able to select the next button and get to the next screen before it crashed. I'm thinking it's dead but.... idk.
This fixed my issue...
Replaced battery and yeah. I'm all better. so odd.. shrug. The other wasn't giving any indication that it was actually defective.
Awesome ... final step ... change the title to include solved :victory:

Is anyone having battery issues after the OTA to Lollipop?

Just trying to gauge everyone else, but for me battery performance has been horrible since the update. It'll lose 5-10% in a matter of an hour. No more apps are running than when I was on 4.4.4. Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

Yes I was having the same issues as you. Phone was perfect before the update. Charged quick and discharged normally. After the ota to lollipop everything went down hill. Was not rooted or bl unlocked all stock. Took my phone to att tech repair store and was told that I was not the only one they have seen with this issue. They did try to flash the firmware in store but it failed 3 times. Tech told me that he believes there are still bugs in the firmware. They did a swap for new device but I did not allow them to update it. Think I'll just stay with 4.4.4...
Edit....
Mine however also took almost 5 hours just to charge from 20 percent to 25 percent. I cleared cache factory reset and still did nothing to fix the problem. I tried ruu but unfortunately my win7 pc would not recognize in fastboot. Always had prob with pc in fastboot . But like I said above it prob would not do anything since att could not flash with the flash tool they use...

My battery life has sucked since the update thanks to the GPS randomly turning itself on even though I've turned it off.
Here's the thread where I mention it, it was a 4.4.4 thread but various people have had issues with lollipop as well.

I also tweeted #ATTSucks to twitter and their ATTCares representative has responded although I really don't see how they can fix this.

Mine is weird. When idling, discharge is fine. Recharging I'd fine as well. It's when I use the phone when it drops like crazy. Like right now. Unplugged the phone about 25 minutes ago and the phone is already at 96%.

Poor battery life confirmed...
I can confirm that my battery life has absolutely sucked since the update to Lollipop. It was bad enough that AT&T delayed the release of Lollipop for months, but now to finally have it and actually have a worse device than before, is really frustrating.
I have not changed any settings or installed any new apps since the update. I used to not have to worry about charging my phone until 10-11PM at night. But now, I often have to charge it between 5-6PM. Man, do I wish I could revert back to Kit Kat.
This battery issue is seriously making me consider rooting it so that I can install an older boot loader and revert back to stock Kit Kat.

Hardware or Software-level Problem? [Battery Issue]

This is bugging me for such a long time now. I've had this problem for such a long time. The issue is that everytime the phone reaches 100% of charge, and leaving it for a while (maybe like 5 mins-ish?), The phone suddenly reboots (hard reboot not soft-reboot) and continues to charge but in the idling turned-off mode (only the battery logo is displaying).
Solutions I've tried but didn't or barely work:
Replacing the Battery itself
Switch to different Kernels
Switch to different ROMS (MIUI, AOSP, OOS etc.)
Full drain to 0% and charge to 100% while off
This leaving me confused af and irritated because everytime I want to charge my phone overnight or I just want to leave my phone charged all the time to minimize the battery degradation, the phone reboots completely out of the blue, letting me miss the notifications that I haven't read yet. I need help on this please.

I'll try that one once again, after I backup my files on my phone, and update once I've done it, and see if it helped or not, thanks for suggesting
You are welcome

Unfortunately it doesn't solve the problem. The issue still persists
you need to take the device to the service I guess this is not a software problem
Probably an issue with the board already, either due to a fall or maybe the device you bought may have just have been defective. I would have suggested that you brought it to a service center (since you said you had the issue for a longtime then maybe you could have had it serviced while it still had warranty)

Oh I forgot to mention, yes it may have been a long time issue, but it just started to happen right around 3 months after I bought it. I bought my phone brand new last year, and it didn't have the issue I'm facing now. Sadly, the warranty doesn't cover the battery issue, since I just bought it form a random retail store (not Xiaomi)

Sorry to hear that. Well, it would be best to have it checked by a repairman by this point since based on all the info you've provided you've tried all the troubleshooting steps software wise, so it may be the board by this point. Or if that random store offered you a repair warranty (most rando stalls in my country has that, not sure about yours) then you may swing by there
what about charger?
seems like the only thing that you didnt check

Well if it's a hardware issue from the board itself, maybe I'll just pass for now. The repair warranty though doesn't really cover some major problems like motherboard and battery, it actually needs to paid so ig it's a no for me. I'll just replace it myself over time if the board breaks itself.

I had no issues on charger either. I used a different Xiaomi charger from another phone, and the battery issue is still there. I even opted in using a samsung charger with usb-c, and still the problem persists.
