Hello,
I want to ask if there is any method to remove this annoying ads from latest google launcher. I'm using adaway, but there is still the white rectangle.
Method other than going back to previous version and other than changing launcher.
Xposed + MinMinGuard is good at getting rid of the ad space like that, but...what? Are you sure the ad is from the Google Launcher? I read like 6 different blog sites a day, usually more than once, and have not seen anything about that, and that's something that would be on the front page with plenty of complaints. Don't use it myself because I don't see the appeal at all, but still, Google does not usually do stuff like that. HTC, on the other hand...
Btw. the app drawer changed from horizontal scrolling to vertical too, so I suppose that is from launcher.
That happened from the Google search app update, oddly enough. I couldn't find anyone else mentioning ads in the launcher. Screenshot?
I just installed it to satisfy my curiosity. I don't see any ads. There is an option enabled by default that has app suggestions... Maybe that's it?
Aww maybe that's from seach app update, I'll try to uninstall update to confirm that.

Nevermind, I found the cause of the ads - "Premium wallpapers HD" app was the problem.

I've been getting the same ads, but Adaway isn't doing anything. Could Adfree be any different?
Also, I think these are tied to a specific app I've installed - anyone know which one might be causing this? I've never seen ads like this in the notification tray - they show up with a big green "+" sign.

if this is something that's been occurring recently, check the notifications for any recent apps you installed.
adaway works great for me and dramatically increases browser page loading speeds. does a great job at eliminating ads.
This typically happens when you download a free app. Paying for the app should not give you pop ups. In my past i havent had any luck with ad blocker. I use adhoc on my HTC Sensation.
I had the same thing. And they are right. It is from a free app. I tried everything to get rid of it and could not even when I deleted all apps I installed. I ended up resetting to factory and reinstalling apps. No problems since.
Download addons detector from the market and see what app is the culprit of the leadbolt ads. Then uninstall it.
Ad Network Detector by Lookout Labs.
They're almost always spot on at identifying the programs that are causing the annoying issues.
Adaway works great for me aswell
I would have recommended adfree (rq root) but it reduces flash functionality for video playback on some websites
Installed "airpush detector" from the market and discovered that Tablet Wallpapers was the app giving me the spam in my notification bar. Uninstalled it, so hopefully that will do the trick!

All the above mentioned apps worked for me as well. I am ad free now! The best for me was Ad Network Dedector whitch found all kinds of apps on my Prime. Good luck!
If an app is sending ads to your notifications bar, you should find out which app it is, leave the most negative review possible regarding the notification bar ads (but be polite, people ignore reviews filled with curse words) and then uninstall the app.
If people don't use an app because it has notification ads, then app developers will stop using this method of advertising to promote their products.
Honestly though, Google needs to step in and stop people from spamming the notifications bar with advertisements. That area is for important information, not crap like "50% Off Downloadable Armor in Blood & Glory!"
Ad Notification
Tablet wallpapers was the culprit for me as well.
Download Addons detector from the market this might solve your problem....
You really need to change your title. I though it said infected with aids
Also go with adaway works really good.

I use airpush detector, it works quite well, I haven't had any apps that push without it identifying them so far.

YIKES!,,,,I hope I don't have to go that route....
Lookout Security & Antivirus found mine in ChargeBar Free Edition,
ChargeBar came embedded in the NottachTrix 2.3.0 ROM.
I installed it (NottachTrix) and it (ChargeBar) didn't update for 3 months, then, BANG.
I've deleted ChargeBar's update, moved it from system apps to apps, deleted it, and the browser pop open 'ad.leadboltads.net' still persists.
Lookout Security & Antivirus can not find the new location of the malware, they do not have a forum.
By the very definition and behaviour, this is malware, and, ChargeBar (Asgard Casino Apps) is involved in the distribution of malware.
Asgard Casino Apps distributes 34 apps that behave this way.
They are using Google to distribute this malware, abet, that app is benign in its origin, its a pipeline, or conduit for malware.
Sneaky F##kers aren`t they.........
#1) I would like to get this crap off my phone.
#2) I need to bring this to Google's attention, and have the developer and apps banned from the Play store.
Sooo, starting with #1,,,how do I get this crap off my phone!
NOTE:
I will be linking to this post in the NottachTrix post, I'm asking the developers to to move ChargeBar from the ROM zip.

Any solution to this?
I'm just having the same issues and none of these suggestions helped.. really dont wanna factory reset..
Recently updated to Ineffabilis Deus and have some annoying bugs with the different reddit apps I've tried. Not sure if this is an ICS problem or an Ineffabilis problem.
50% of imgur links display for a split second and then go to blank screen. If I zoom in, the picture comes back.
All youtube links open in Chrome rather than the youtube app. I tried clearing defaults for Chrome. I also tried the "App associations" menu in settings, but I don't see the youtube app as an option for anything in there. I also used to have (on Gingerbread) an option to send youtube links to xbmc, via xbmc remote app, but that's gone too.
Anyone know if this is an ICS thing or an issue with the ROM? I don't think it's a problem with the apps, since the same thing happens on both reddit apps I've tried and I don't see anyone complaining about it in the comments for those apps.
Any other redditors on ICS had problems (or solutions)?
On ICS with exact same ROM and issues using baconreader here.
Will troubleshoot.
Mine shows some, while others do as you explained. I am stock rooted 3.14.

Youtube links won't play in YouTube on Ics or sense 3.6 I don't know which controls what. Something to do with an Apple patent lawsuit if I'm not mistaken
To allow yourself to be able to select apps to launch instead of launching chrome or the default browser automatically, you must uninstall "htclinkifydispatcher" using titanium backup or something similar. This stops the phone from automatically choosing default apps and will let you choose from whatever browsers you have installed (or youtube, if you are trying to watch a video) instead. So far the only issue I've found with eliminating this app is that whenever I try to launch a link sent to me in gtalk, gtalk force closes. Otherwise I am given the freedom of choice of which app to launch when browsing reddit. If you don't care too much about a partially malfunctioning google talk, uninstall htclinkifydispatcher. Back it up first (just in case other apps start malfunctioning, for me only google talk is affected, but it may vary for others) and then uninstall. Freezing it will not work.
Hope this helps

Issue with all direct link static images in baconreader. Animated GIFs or where it renders the website too are fine. Also only has an issue on first load, have to zoom or back out and reselect link to make image reappear. Once cached, the image renders fine on a re-read.
Yet to find any combo of Developer options, Display, or stock browser settings (assuming baconreader may render links with stock browser settings) to address that particular problem...
Edit: Recommend deselecting "Open links in app" in baconreader and in other apps if available, if that issue cannot be resolved. Feedback from other ROM users appreciated. May ask the developer about bug.
Edit 2: Stock browser settings have no influence on the issue, app renders direct link images independently.

Yeah I use google talk a lot but not nearly as often as I browse reddit. It's so frustrating trying to watch a YouTube video in chrome instead of the designated app. I think this problem (feature?) alone makes me want aosp more than anything else about sense on ics. Give me freedom to choose my apps!
I found this problem with baconreader and reddit is golden. It's annoying but but I just double tap the imgur and it shows (zooming).
Hello All
Still kinda new with the Android OS, I have recently experienced some strange icons on my home page, anyway, it seems that a lot of spam (I'm just guessing) comes with DLd stuff.
So I DLd a app called addon detector and I'm not exactly sure how to use it so does anyone know how to use this app? I ran the scan function but I still got a unwanted icon so theres evidently more to this then just running a scan
Anyway, all help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks

Download Airpush from the market. Run it. It will tell you what app is the problem and you can choose to uninstal it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
After you run a scan select the "Addons" button. In the filter box above select "Push Notifications". This will tell you the apps pushing notifications to your notification bar. You will need to uninstall the causing app.
The other filters will meen very little to most.
Now strange icons on your home page is something totally different. Tell us about these icons.
Install an app called Airblocker. It will block all airpush ads without having to uninstall anything.

I'm also having the problem and have not found a solution yet.
The only difference for me is I have adaway installed so the webpage never gets to display. Just opens the browser.
I've tried different ad detector apps from google play, but nothing is fixed this problem. Almost ready to reflash the rom and start from scratch.
UPDATE: I fixed the problem.
When the browser hijacking occurred, it happened after installing or updating a program from any source. Google Play, Amazon or a standalone APK. That meant the virus had control over my installer.
Using Lookout's Ad Detector, I identified some potential culprits (Go Launcher EX being at the top of the list) and uninstalled them. That didn't work.
What actually fixed the problem was resetting the defaults for all the apps. Settings > More > Application Manager. Hit the menu key and choose Reset app preferences.
You don't loose any data. You just get prompted for choosing a default app when you run certain applications. I choose to use Lookout's installer instead of the default android installer when I got prompted to install updates.
Haven't had the issue since. Hope this helps.

Hi everybody. (First sorry for my english but I speak french)
This is a solution but it workn't very good.
After the downloading and installation from a update or a program, AndroƮd ask me if I want to finish the task with the default browser or Chrome ? So I can't see this f*cking page more but I must always put my choice between the 2 browsers.
I thank you for your solutions....

My MBAM forum post: https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=138306#entry764184
Hello, I am new to the forum so I apologize if this is not the correct place to post this. I am I need of desperate help with my Alcatel C1 (Android 4.2.2 Jellybean). Within the last few weeks A LOT of my apps seem to be crashing. Just some of the apps are: Text free Pinger, Dash clock Mini Notes. Inkpad, POP, and Clean Master. When they crash most of them will open for say about 60 seconds and then either exit the app entirely and take me back to the homescreen or sometimes they will just exit out of whatever I am doing inside the app and take me back to the apps main page.
This is extremely frustrating and have no idea of the cause. A lot of my apps DO NOT crash as well, such as UC Mini Browser, my email apps, file explorer, and showbox as well as others. Why are some of my apps crashing and some not?
I have a theory that it could be my launcher...I use Apex, the paid for version. Apex will crash everynow and then though not very often. But the reason I think its my launcher is because I downloaded the regular Apex launcher through the play store and then added the premium version of it through other means....
So what I'm saying is that the basic Apex launcher is official and downloaded off the play store, however, the paid for upgrade was not.
It still doesn't answer why I had zero problems for many months after downloading both Apex versions up until recently...
So, can anyone answer why some of my most used apps are crashing and could it possibly be problems with the launcher? Thank you in advance.
Oh, and also, my phone is rooted however I never did anything with my root access yet.
Someone please help ha...ANY advice or info at all would be GREATLY appreciated!
It very well could be do to your warez app. But as xda doesn't condone or advise the use of warez you will not find help here with it. My advise is remove all the warez and try again. Many apps are now programmed to look for things that allow warez and set. To cause random issues if detected.
warez?
Thank you so much for your response, however, what do you mean by "warez"...I'm sort of a noon when it comes to smart phones so please explain ha...do you mean the file i downloaded of Apex that wasn't "official"? Is that what the "warez" is?
Thanks again,

What I mean is "warez" is a paid app that one got for free from somewhere. The issue with this that most people don't take into account is that most of these paid apps when given for free are changed and malware, like keyloggers, screen recorders and data collectors are added to these apps.
