I am wondering if there is a root for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4
My phone is on:
Model: SCH-I545
Android Version: 5.0.1
Baseband Version: I545VRUGOF1
Build Number: LRX22C.I545VRUGOF1
Any help would be (greatly) apriciated.
PS: Im still a noob at this rooting thing so don't laugh.
Nope. Of1 not root able
Sent from S4 using the better than it was then they jacked it again Tapatalk
Is this why I'm not seeing many stock-based 5.0.1 ROMs in the dev areas?
I see the mustang ROM but I can't even find how to move in that direction from unlocked/rooted MK2.
Noob here. Will it ever be rootable? Is it just a matter of time that someone has to find something to exploit? Or is it unlikely that that will ever happen?

Hello all,
So I received my new to me S4, and prior to activating it I wanted to Fist get rid of Knox and put on a custom ROM.However, after much reading I am just more confused. I hoping that someone will just give me the Dummies guide to rooting, nixn' Knox and installing a custom ROM (hyperdrive, or CM).
Like first go download these apps, next do this, then that, kinda instructions.
the phone I received is an:
SCH-i545
Android Version 4.4.2
Baseband I545VRUFNC5
Kernal 3.4.0 [email protected]#1
Build# K0T49H.I545VRUFNC%
SE for Android Status: Enforcing; SEPF_SCH_I545_4.4.2_0011
Secure boot Status Type: Samsung
Security software version: MDF v1.0 Release 2
Hope this is not too much info, but I read all kind of post that seem to condradict one another, just when I think I've found the info I read something else that makes me feel this could lead to disaster. Please help. The last android I had was a Droid Eris, and things seem to have changed quite a bit.
Thanks
Trey

Read my whole post linked below. It is accurate. Do not upgrade to NG6, it is a pain and has root but no custom rom capability (yet). On NC5 however, you can flash a ROM using Safestrap (Do not use the safestrap linked in the thread below (3.72), use the safestrap in the general forum (3.75)). DO NOT FLASH TWRP OR CWM. We have a locked bootloader and flashing those is impossible as of yet.
With safestrap, you cannot flash CM, AOSP, or anything that contains a custom kernel. You can flash Hyperdrive, eclipse, and in rare cases Google Edition (The Safestrap version only!!! Not the normal Google edition!)

Thanks npjohnson! very helpful, slow day here in Cisco VOIP land so, I was messing around and got Towelroot, and Root checker. After those two, I installed SuperSU, Thanks Tomsgt! It has all worked so far and SuperSU as apparently disabled Knox…. So Im on my way here. Your post should now take me all the way home. Thanks again! :highfive:
Hi,
This is my first post on XDA, and I'm rather new to the site so if I'm posting in the wrong section, please let me know. Also, if I need to add any additional information, again, let me know.
I've been trying to root my Verizon Galaxy S4 for a little while now, and for some reason, every time I attempt to flash an older kernel onto my device, it fails and I don't know why. I am rooting my phone by following the instructions in this video: How To Root Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.2 EASY!!! (XDA is not letting me put the URL in the post due to the fact that this is my first post.) The video is by Sam Pullen.
Below is all of my information for my phone.
Model Number: SCH-1545
Android Version: 4.4.2
Baseband Version: I545VRUFNK1
Kernel Version: 3.4.0
[email protected] #1
Tue Nov 4 23:03:49 KST 2014
Build number: KOT49H.I545VRUFNK1
SE for Android status: Enforcing
SEPF_SCH-I545_4.4.2_0027
Secure boot status: Type: Samsung
Security Software version: MDF v1.0 Release 3
VPN v1.3 Release 2
My issue is that on my device, whenever I attempt to flash a new kernel to it, the readout on my device is Secure Magiccode Check Fail: Recovery
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

read here and use the kernels from here and nothing else your phone does not and will never support any custom recovery outside of safestrap

Okay thanks. I did that and it works. So since I can't use CWM or TWRP, does that mean I also can't use things like cyanogenmod too? And not that this matters too much, due to the fact that its based in curiosity, but why can't I use CWM or TWRP? I'm just curious

No CM/ASOP/ or anything the only exception is kitpop 1.2 which is ASOP hacked together to run on the stock kernel which you are also stuck with
so basicly your choices for roms are these two
hyperdrive - touchwizz based
kitpop 1.2 ASOP based but has issues (no usb MTP,wifi requires a softboot apon every restart to work, spotty data/mms issues)

Just got this phone today! How sure are you that the NK1 will never support a custom recovery? I'm debating on waiting it out and staying on stock 4.4.2 after the Official Lollipop OTA hits the streets.

100% sure the only thing that would change that is somebody could figure out how to get kexec/kgraft to work which would grant us custom kernels and then allow us to run fully custom roms based on ASOP/CM via safestrap
anything newer then VRUMDK will never support anything other then safestrap
lolipop OTA is miles away

Subject pretty much says it all..
The Verizon Note2 and the USCC Note2 are almost the same animal. What would I need to modify in order to be able to install a ROM for the i605 on a R950? So far I have not been able to find anyone building lollipop roms for that phone, which leaves it even more the poor cousin of the N7100 Note2 device than the i605 is. They don't even have a separate group for it here. Where's the love??? Where can I go other than the TeamUSCC site for help with this device?
For the most part I'm happy with the device, and I'd really like to hold out until somebody comes out with a daylight readable screen, before I switch to a different device.
On another note. What's this about locked bootloaders? I'm assuming that given my luck I have one. Does that mean that I am locked into waiting until/if support is forthcoming from USCC?

I have an AT&T S5 ACTIVE (G870A) on the OF3 Baseband version and 3.4.0 Kernal version running Android 5.0. Is it possible to root on Android 5.0 and keep Android 5.0 for the G870AxxxOF3? If not, is there a way to downgrade, root, then get back to 5.0? I've rooted A G870A before, but on 4.4.X. I have a little knowledge of what I'm doing, but take that with a grain of salt, as I'm seeking help on something I'm barely familiar with. Thanks for any help.
You can check the s5 forums. I don't think there is root for that device. I have one on 5.1.1 and there is no way to root or to downgrade.
Been looking for a root for my device ever since my old s6 edge was replaced by AT&T but can never find one. If anyone knows where to find one that would be most appreciated.
Baseband Verizon - G925AUCS4CPG1
Android Version 6.0.1
Model Number SAMSUNG-SM-G925
Guess my phone is impossible to root.
Thanks AT&T for collective brainstorming.

I've been vehemently trying. I know that AT&T has screwed us over once again. I don't think there is a way by adb because of the ro.adbsecure, so I'm building a flash rom for Odin. Once finished, I'll post it here since it's the most recent post about it.

Sorry to ask but have you had any luck in building the rom? It's been more than a month, so now I'm starting to worry if we'll ever crack the case.
update?
any update on this. I am stuck with the galaxy logo screen because I installed the old root using odin. Didnt realize it was going to be a big deal. I would love to get the full firmware for the 6.0.1 so I can get my phone working again using odin.
