Extremely well laid out survey, easy to complete and highly relevant.
The only thing I would suggest adding, if you could, is order date.

Could be as well but the Europe price factor is a valid point. The cheapest 6p in Europe is 728$ vs 499$ in US.

I don't think it's a factor at all.
We've been paying a higher price for phones for as long as I can remember, and we've also been paying for Sim-Free Unlocked phones a whole lot longer.
To a UK user like me, the price of the Nexus 6p is cheap.
Only the U.S guys look at our prices and think 'F*** that'
You have to remember that whilst it may seem expensive to you, its £150/$230 cheaper than last years Note 4 for example & even £100/$150 cheaper than last years Nexus 6
When you realise that we have manyyyy phones at much higher prices than the Nexus 6p, you'll understand that the price you consider 'high' - is not considered high at all.

If you have a way to clean the survey results, I'd recommend deleting the one that shows it was ordered on 29 July 2015, as it is an outlier.
#WhiteUIsMustDie, #EndDarkAppOppression

I think we can also safely assume that the ones "shipping" in early October, were really supposed to be early November, especially since three "latest" date orders are before any "earliest" dates.

Are you placing the UK in Europe? Because UK price Euro price is different.

thank you for replying. I got one on ebay brand new+s pen holder kit+ag screen protector for $565...seems like a good deal to me hope decing picks up here
The price will drop when they start building them with cheaper components. This happens with pretty much all devices.. they launch, then they start looking for cost savings in the manufacturing process (which often results in an inferior device). When they've got the manufacturing process considerably cheaper (and new "better" devices are out) the price will fall. But the Note you get two years from now likely will not function as well as one of the first ones before they started cheeping out on parts.
Who knows man. One could only speculate. Within a couple of months it will drop a little. The international Version has held its value However. I would speculate this device holds its value as well as any smart phone can. It will be sought after much like an iPhone is.

Really? You must be kidding. The parts won't change. And no one will be buying a Note in two years. They go stale in six months. I am biting my tongue and trying hard not to flame. Gesh!!!
I'm guessing the price may drop a few weeks after MWC and new phones are released. Typically, it seems that once new phones come out, older ones get a price drop (Not that the Note is an "old" phone!).

I'd love to know your source of information that they will change components. They do not.
I didn't say no one would buy them after six months. The technology is outdated almost before they begin production and sales will drop off. You said two years and I can guarantee that no one will be buying these in two years. The iPhone market is totally different from the Android market so you are comparing apples and oranges. No pun intended.

True, but this is a BRAND NEW device. I'm willing to bet it wont reach $199 on contract for another 6 months.
I think the mighty Note will be relevant for as long as its the biggest phone on the market...or until Samsung makes a newer model of it....nothing comes close to this monster.... newer, sleeker and SMALLER phone can come out and "wow" others, but I love my Note and until something bigger (which right now I have a hard time foreseeing) AND better, The Note is here to stay
You can get it for 150 on contract now, buy out contact and have one for less than 500.

[Q] Why aren't more people buying this phone?

I get that it's not a Nexus 4 and it's around $100 more off contract. I also get that the GS3 has more brand awareness, but this is a really awesome phone. I actually think the LG skin is good and adds a lot of functionality over stock Android.
I have a GS3, Note II, iPhone 5, and Lumia 920. This is my favorite phone out of all of them. The screen, feel in the hand, speed, and software touches make it almost a perfect device. Battery life has been good and my only real complaint is that the camera could have been better.
So what's holding it back? Marketing? I know LG has stumbled in the past, but this is not one of those times. I honestly probably wouldn't have even thought to buy the phone if not for the article about Consumer Reports rating it above the iPhone 5 and GS3 in customer satisfaction. I had to see what it was about and fell in love with it right away in the store.
As it stands, I couldn't recommend this phone more highly to people on AT&T who want an Android phone. I would definitely recommend it over the GS3, and that's saying a lot. The lack of activity in these forums, along with the sparse development tells me that it's definitely not getting into enough hands, and that's unfortunate.
LG's has a rather tarnished reputation as far as smartphone is concerned, they've had long lines of disappointing and mediocre mid-tier releases over the years plus poor record of software updates. Even with a phone like OG, it's going to take awhile to reboot their image.

I've not been a great fan of LG until this phone. I briefly considered that 3d camera phone from 2011 on AT&T that LG made, but ultimately chose the SII (and I made the right choice; I was one more f-ed up phone from buying an iphone). This phone impressed me in reviews and in stores (the demos blew me away). I chose it against the SIII and the One X and other flagship phones due to it matching what I wanted. I loved most of the SIII, but I hated that it had a physical home button. The one x seemed nice, but I didn't like non expandable storage and an unremovable battery. The only thing I had against the LGOG was the battery being built in; however, everything else about it sold me. I feel that LG has finally made a phone worth it (2 phones counting the Nexus), and have the potential to beat Samsung. However, this is an uphill battle for LG. I personally have known people to pick the SIII just because Samsung is the most widely known. LG will have to fight against that in order to be purchased. Plus, people are more impressed by expensive phones, and sometimes buy the expensive ones because they assume those are the best. I really think that that, oddly enough, is also contributing to the LGOG having slightly lower sales numbers.
Tl;dr
LG has a fight with Samsung due to name recognition, and price drops may have had a negative effect. Many customers don't research phones thoroughly, and buy from a certain brand, or the expensive ones (because you get what you pay for).

I'm happy for getting the phone for only $49, but I can't grasp the reason behind the price drop. OG is their only qualified flagship in years yet they are on sale at the price point of low-end giveaways. Granted it's probably just weekend promo but still, I find it odd to lower the price to this range in a non-holiday season.

I think the reasoning behind the price drop is building for the future, if you get your best phone in as many hands possible, the people who by it recommend the brand to others and are more likely to buy lg in the future when its time to upgrade.

I know if any of my friends are looking into a new phone I will put in a good word for the OG. And that is funny because when it came out I originally looked at it and then went "Nah, I still want the One X."
By the time I was able to upgrade, the One X+ was out, at double the price of the OG and I didn't want an outdated phone. Now I'm not saying the One X isn't good, it had just already been replaced by a refresher phone.
I am soo happy with this phone.

Half of the reason I made this decision.
I had a Sony Xperia X10 with an ancient 1Ghz snapdragon and then got an Asus Transformer with a Tegra 2...
So I was impressed more by Nvidia/Tegra at the time than Qualcomm/Snapdragon (I know, completely unfair).
But I had been reading everywhere that the S4 Pro was a beast and much better than Tegra 3s.
I don't like Sense anyways and I would have had a custom ROM, so the multitasking wasn't a big deal.
We have an extra gig of RAM to play with too. :highfive:

Doubt it. If the price stays low in states, doesn't bode well with G launch in Europe, unless LG do a dual tier launch of G & G Pro at the same time, but that's a remote possibility given G is set for March release in EU region.

There's always something else around the corner. The Pro is likely months from hitting the U. S. on any carrier.
In all honesty, I'd still choose the G. I prefer the size and the 200mhz overclock would hardly be noticeable.

Speaking critically of the android community for a brief second..
As much as people criticize Apple fans for putting too much value in brand name, a lot of Android fans are really overly zealous Samsung fanboys.
I won't say it's a bad brand or that the phones they make aren't nice.. But, taking a stroll to the Android subreddit you will find a lot of rabid Samsung fanboyism.
We hear less criticism of Samsung these days because they are just that popular.. still I remember as though it were yesterday people wouldn't shut up about how cheap the phones felt, how horrible various aspects of touchwiz were..
And sadly a lot of people won't even consider the LG OG because it's not Samsung.. but, if Samsung were to incorporate some of the LGOG features people would rave over it. I can see it now... slipping the LGOG specs and skin into a Samsung shell and hearing people brag and brag and act as though it Samsung were curing cancer.
Outside of that, honestly at $350 the N4 makes a hell of a deal. Even if you had a contract but, would like to keep your service without signing up for another 2 years would be a nice option.
Besides all of that? Well your average customer is told what to buy really. Speaking as a salesman I can tell you, if you don't know what you are buying, I'll be happy to tell you. (Granted I no longer work in sales but, it was a lesson learned.)
Edit: one final thought. I don't care because I'm honestly just that happy with it..... but, we still don't have an official cm10 port and that hurts us big time.

A very interesting article...

Consider this before buying. No flame intented. I simply was planning to get one myself then changed my mind.

I'm not particularly worried; I actually posted some thoughts about Google I/O earlier today:

I'm quite happy with Android 4.1, so I guess it depends what KLP brings, but it's hard to imagine Google bringing anything that would make me want to abandon HTC's awesome camera software (which is one of the reasons I personally prefer HTC phones).
I bought a One XL last year around the same time, and Google I/O didn't make me regret that decision. Besides, this time I'll have a One XL I can mess around with if I want to install CM11 or something.

Precisely. Personally, I feel HTC is on the brink of a huge change, they've already dropped the source code and the phone hasn't even shipped in US yet! Also, it will definitely help to have the same device across several carriers (Even international ones!)

Not to be the voice of doom or piss in anyone's Cheerios but HTC's in a world of hurt. The shipping delay for the One's cost them dearly financially and now its actual availability is going to bump up against Samsung's gazillion dollar marketing budget for the SGS4. Samsung also co-ops heavily with the U.S. carriers for advertising and provides big sales incentives down to the associate level. And if you walk in to a Best Buy you'll be greeted by Samsung's "Experience" sound and light show while a dummy One sits lonely and tethered to an end-cap somewhere next to a "free" LG Phone. With a Nexus 5 possible at I/O, an iP5s and lower-cost iPhone in June, Motorola's "Phone X," a Note III, and LG's 1080P 5" and 5.5" Optimus Pro Plus' all due by fall, the One's going to get lost in a sea of other devices a few months after launch because of HTC's (now even more) limited promotional budget. They have a tough road to hoe and 2013 will determine their future.

I'm 99% sure that the next Nexus phone won't be at I/O. Also, the 5s won't be much to write home about. The S models never are.

At least the writer is still getting the HTC one. Lol
Anyways there's always a new os comming out at io. A new nexus 5 ? Nah that's this fall.
A new nexus 7? Yes. Google glass? Yes.
Thew question is will HTC upgrade to 4.2 to 5.0 or from 4.1 to 5.0?

I believe they will, considering this is HTC's flagship phone.
This is an easy one for me. I'll just keep my Nexus 4 around until I/O. If what Google shows at I/O wows me and I can get it on the Nexus 4, I'll consider selling the One, but DAMN, it would have to be some mind blowing software for me to give up such amazing hardware and go back to a slower processor, worse screen, worse camera, worse speaker, cheaper materials, and no LTE.

It will be. It is 5.0
Got me thinking...
Whole argument is stupid in my opinion. It's clearly cut black and white. If you want immediate updates to current version of android go for a nexus. If you want real hardware get the HTC One. Unless HTC builds a nexus the new one won't be special.
I don't know why people buy carrier subsidized phones then complain when it stays a version behind. The phone company is there to make money. Put on your big boy pants and go nexus or shut up about it. It's really that simple

LG G2 [Indian Users]

Hi Folks!!!
I wanted to start a thread for potential aspirants from India interested in purchasing this amazing device!! Let us discuss prices and local availability, also if you can give a reason to move over to this device, would be a interesting to read
The product as of now is listed in SAHOLIC for 40,499 and will be available on 30th September! Anyone going for it? I myself wanted to but it through Flipkart!
Now let us fill this thread up, with the colors of India :good:
Congratulations. Lucky, you have white too unlike AT&T.
Now this is just a suggestion, you will find AT&T phones in ebay for around $575.If you do the currency conversion it is relatively cheaper. AT&T phones work 100% in India. You can sim unlock for a little price in ebay(around $2) too. All of this only if you don't care about warranty.
I will be moving from the US to India for a couple years (Delhi) this next month and plan on taking my att g2 with me, just need to find a carrier and get Sim unlock.
thinking of buying this...looks good :good:
I am anxiously waiting for the release. Flpikart has posted 42,490 for 32 GB model, and 40,490 for 16 GB. Other websites are quoting 40,390 for 32 GB model.... I don't understand why the escalated price on flipkart!!!
Flipkart is always expensive as compared to other website

Hmmm Looks like not many are interested to buy this AMAZING device from India, it is majorly due to poor advertisement by LG.
Its getting launched tomorrow, i want the 32gb version because i dont want to later regret not having enough space. Price is 43k, i think we should wait a month to see if they reduce price.

Most people go by brand rather than actually check out specs and features, i on the other hand dont give a crap about brand as long as the phone delivers.
But yeah the advertisement has been poor...i dont think ive seen its ad on tv yet
Im quiet interested in this phone. But 40k for a LG phone seems a heavy price to pay considering how many issues i have had with my previous LG phone (nexus 4).. Though i had it shipped from the Uk and had no warranty what so ever the screen cracked twice and the charging port malfunctioned once.. I ended up paying a lot for a 'cheap' Nexus phone. WIll wait for the early adopters to post reviews and will wait for a price drop as well.. And with the nexus 5 around the corner i would advice to wait and watch till you drop your money on this speck heavy phone.

Even I had Nexus 4, and i guess was lucky, i dropped the phone couple of times, and there were no cracks or anything as such. But now I sold my Nexus 4 and anxiously waiting for lg g2.
Nexus 5 has a 5" screen and 2300 mah battery.. so i think would be going with G2.
Its out in India.. Prices in showrooms for 32 Gigs is Rs40490.
Amazing Device.

Only problem is lg. They will never update it to 4.3. Even don't think about kitkat.
Better but some device with good support.

It Will get KITKAT but not by stock rom. Bet Even 100 if you want. Get it " G2 Will Not get any KitKat in next one Year of Launch". After that even update won't matter to G2 buyers.
I have Experience: My G Pro haven't got a single update in last 3 monthsas its still at 4.1. Even when there is 4.2.1, 4.2.2, 4.3 & Kitkat in waiting. ( Would Have never bought LG but couldn't reject the gift )
About invest lot of software engineer at korea : They all are *u**ing LG big time. CM with few great people can hold for great no. of devices but OEM suc*s big time.
After This You want to invest in LG junk """" Most Welcome, its Your Money """""
Guys what do you think, do you think it is better to buy LG optimus G pro than G2, what are your thoughts on this?

LG is fastest growing vendor in Android market

Guys, I think we may celebrate the fact that we bought THE BEST Android smartphone out there. And pour some champagne in glasses:highfive:
And they say http://www.technologytell.com/gadgets/141977/report-lg-fastest-growing-android-maker-us-today/ that
LG G2 marks a significant change in direction for LG, now aiming squarely towards the top end of the market. Customer recommendation figures for the past three months show the LG G2 has the highest rating of any new handset at 9.2 out of 10, followed by the iPhone 5S at 9.1 and Samsung Galaxy Note III at 9.0
Specifically the LG G2 helped bring LG’s numbers up in the country. In fact, the LG G2 is ahead of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Apple iPhone 5S.

The only realistic thing we should celebrate is LG's 'powerhouse return' which some of us did while choosing the phone.

IDK what exactly powerhouse return means, sorry. Is it a hint that LG's phones fail & RMA a lot?

Yeah, I'd pick the LG G2 over the Nexus 5. Feels more of a challenge rooting/customising compared to the Nexus 5.

Yes LG G2 is definitely the best phone of 2013 In most if not all aspects. Now the LG G3 will be the champion of all this year. I can't wait!!!

Looking forward to the L3 release.....I'm hoping they will integrate the Moto X voice commands and keep all the other gimmicky stuff away. I'm kind of disappointed with the LG smartwatch from the teasers thou. I may have to go with the android smartwatch.
Yeah, G2 is better than N5 in many ways. As for price, unless you're getting it directly from Google, it's not that affordable. In my country Nexus 5 is being sold for only $40-50 cheaper than G2 and that's the 16GB variant.
G2 is so underrated although it's currently, IMO, delivering best value for price among other major OEM (except maybe Xiaomi with Mi3).

Mediamarkt is funny, cheap with some electronics expensive with others.
dont even think their prices are market conform.
anyway if they price the two phones the same, either the g2 is really cheap there (which I doubt) or they rip customers off with the Nexus pricing
lg is growing fast because of price quality ratio, once they go Samsung with overpriced flagships the Chinese will grow even further, they are the next Apples/Samsungs. already they are very innovative with product design and user experience

kinda the second... although they probably find they get away with it sales wise thanks to the ridiculously positive publicity the nexus tends to get. for some reason no matter how much the prices get marked up from google's, it keeps getting praised for being cheap and cost-effective.
of course, the LG G2 should be known as the real king of cost-effectiveness in the smartphone world, but among the broad public it remains a sleeper hit.

The Nexus everywhere in offline stores costs about 500 euros. It costs cheaply ONLY in Play Store. And only in Play Store. In offline Nexus costs same as G2, maybe $50 or so cheaper

I doubt it, Chinese have nothing of their own, they just compile 3rd party pieces of hardware and sell it to make damping. No own design, no fancy software as Voice Mate or QTransator or QuickRemote
Xiaomi or One Plus aka Oppo phones for another hand cost as much as LG claim, no less. Sometimes Oppo costs even higher because LG's sell in volumes and newer supplies get discounts and cheaper prices, OTH stores and market sell old Oppo phones for old high price
