Network Bridge - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm looking for a possibility to connect an accesspoint(A) (without internet access) to my mobile phone and share the umts internet-connection to this accesspoint(A).
With the "hot spot" option it won't work because accesspoint(A) to accesspoint(B) connection is not provided so long...
Is there a way to share the mobile/umts connection to the accesspoint(A). If yes - how may I realize this?
Thx folks

Ok... I didn't found something in the whole world wide web
I want to create a simple app which starts the wifi and mobile connection of my (rooted) device (HTC one mini, Android 4.4.2).
The problem is that the mobile connection is interrupted due to an established wifi connection.
Can I disabled this procedure? Or is there a way this won't happen if a start the connections with the app?

[Q] Lock every data connection

Hey,
A friend of mine wants to lock the data connection of his 11 years old daughter's phone. So i thought, this would be easy, change the DNS as root to localhost or something like that. I read that it is possible to do so with the Wifi connection, but not permanent with the mobile data. This would just work for the current session, after a phone reboot, the normal mobile data DNS is back.
So my question is, what could i do, to lock every data connection? Is it possible?
Thanks for the answers!
why not just remove all apns and saved wi-fi networks? then there would be no mobile networks or wi-fi networks to connect to.
also, why does an 11 year old girl have an s2? if one isn't able to check on what their child is doing on the internet, and/or won't let them on the internet at all, might the s2 not be a little much?
This girl is not stupid, she knows how to connect to a Wifi network. Also it's thus a metter of time, till she knows to add the correct apn, or a friend of her does it.
I need a solution to realy change someting, that data is no longer possible. So she, or someone who knows a little bit about smartphones cannot enable it.
well that certainly is respectable, she knows how to crack wpa2 wi-fi keys?
then your dns trick, even if it were stored permanently, would be no use either.
i don't know, what country you are from, but at least here, every carrier offers the possibility to disable mobile data connections for your sim card. that way, no matter what you try to set up, the carrier would not accept you into their mobile network.
Could you delete APNs and wifi keys, then lock the settings app so the 11 year old cannot access it to edit the connection settings?
ZDBox is freeware and contains a reliable app locking tool.

[Q] Teather + Reverse Teather?

I have a really weird problem I am trying to solve. (Hopefully this makes sense)
I have an app on 2 different android phone and Fiddler on PC (android can connect to it through HTTP Proxy).
How can I have the two phones internet traffic (of at least that one app) run through fiddler BUT without access to a WIFI internet connecftion (using mobile data only). One phone can tether and is rooted.
And for bonus points... having all that happen behind TOR proxy.
Any input guys? Thanks!

[Q] Set. Mobile Network -> "Enable always-on mobile data" CM11 (Phoning Home)

[Q] Set. Mobile Network -> "Enable always-on mobile data" CM11 (Phoning Home)
Hi,
seems that since Android 4.0 the setting Menu -> Settings -> Mobile Network -> "Enable always-on mobile data" is no longer available (or was this an HTC setting?). Is there a substitute or was it simiply forgotten to transfer to 4.0? My problem is that even with no apps running (and no traffic in netlog viewer)Android is establishing a internet connection as soon as I turn mobile data on:
- Steps to reproduce the problem
1. Disable Auto-Sync & enable background data restriction
2. Disable Wifi, disable mobile data
3. Enable mobile data
- What happened.
1. Internet connection is established directly, no data is transferred (only keep alive packages are sent)
- What you think the correct behavior should be.
1. Internet connection should only be established when needed (many users pay for every connection attempt)
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4, but it also happens on a Alcatel Idol Mini (Android 4.2.2) and another low end phone.
According to forums and blogs, the option was confirmed for Android 2.3. It's pictured here: " guides.virginmedia.com/en/topic/htc_sensationxe/how_do_i_disable_and_enable_data_services.html ".
BTW: I disabled all server-driven notifications (mail sync, time sync). Even used AFWFirewall/Droidwall, Xposed Framework & Xprivacy. All showed no data packages traffic, however as soon as mobile data was turned on I got the "connection keep alive" headers from com.qualcomm.timeservice. However, none of the tools were able to stop or log the initial header requests, before com.qualcomm.timeservice got active. So I assume it's a kernel / root android system application.
Would be great if someone has more infos. Are all Androids establishing a connection directly after mobile data was enabled?
Attached is the connection log from AFWFirewall. Seems that com.qualcomm.timeservice is involved and phoning home. What's frightening is that it connects to 173.194.32.238, which seems to be a facebook IP:
How can we block that crap?
Anyone who is using CM and using mobile data who can confirm or falsify here?
According to Google this is not about Android, but it would be great to know if this happens for CM in general, just the S4 build or just Qualcomm devices.

So there's noone of the many users in this subforum who is using Cynogenmod and could verify if the phone trys to establish an internet connection when mobile data is being turned on (showing an E or G at the right upper corner)?

[Q] Connect to a Wlan Network but use mobile connection for internet?

Dear Community!
Like the title says, I want to know if I can connect to my Intranet over wlan, to use the data stored on the server, but at the same time I want to use my mobile connection for internet.
I hope there is a solution
have a nice day :fingers-crossed:
don't think that's possible.
But if you have a VPN server you can connect to this via Mobile Data.
Thanks for your answer
figured it out.
It is possible with Android lollipop

Can you share how you did it?
It seems like it's a feature of lollipop so I only updated and tried it. But it only works If the wlan network has no internet connection, the phone then grabs the mobile data connection to stay online.

Disable Wi-Fi detection of poor connections / disconnecting when no Internet Access

Hi Guys,
i've got a problem with several different Android Tablet, which I use for a project inside my company.
The Tablet (for example Trekstor xintron 7 on Android 5.1.1) is connected to a special Wi-Fi Network. It is not possible to access the internet through this wifi for security reasons.
The Tablets are locked down by a Kiosk App, which forces to show an internal intranet website in Full Screen mode.
All this is working great until the Wi-Fi Service detects that there is no good Internet connectivity when using this wifi-network.
So after some hours it disconnects from my network and won't reconnect to it.
In Wi-Fi settings I can see the reason, it says something like "Network can not be joined automaticaly, there is no internet".
I know that some manufacturers UIs (for example Samsung), theres a special switch inside the advanced menu, to disable this "poor signal detection".
In my case there is no setting for that.
Does anybody have an idea how I could force my tablets into a wi-fi network without internet-access? Do you see a way to disable this "scanning for internet-behaviour" permanently? Even if i don't have the menu for this?
Any help would be appreciated.
No Ideas?
I for myself thought about 2 possible ways:
Getting the settings APP from another device which makes it possible to disable the "detect Bad wifi connection" Option. Dont know if something like this can be done, so i am hoping for the developers.
Or just find out which Servers are contacted to check if the Internet connection works, and Kind of fake the Server response...
Sent from my ONE A2003 using XDA Free mobile app
I am living in China and this is a huge problem. Please help. I keep getting the message "No internet access detected won't automatically reconnect. I have tried all kinds of things. My router is only two years old. I can manually connect but it will not do so automaticaly.
I got this problem too
