Sensors' general failure - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I have a 925I and suddenly all sensors have stopped working. I mean all of them, accelerometer, gyroscope, light, magnetic, barometer, etc. They all fail the *#0*# selftests. Screen does not rotate, and camera doesn't take landscape pictures.
I'm running 5.1.1 IDVU2DOI2.
Any ideas?

Sounds like a hardware defect

It turns out I booted into recovery, cleared cache, and now all sensors are working. I hope this helps other people who may encounter this issue.

Gyro Sensor calibration in settings - Dot not moving ? Normal ? Someone try :)

Ok in the galaxy s2. If you go to settings, display, then at the bottom, you have horizontal calibration and gyro sensor calibration.
If you choose horizontal calibration you get a little test thing with the dot in the middle and it moves as you tilt the device.
When I go to gyro sensor calibration the dot just stays in the middle and does not move. Is this normal ?
Can someone try the above please
yep i tried this before, same here, but i think it's normal
If you look two different calibrations .
jje
I know, but shouldn't the dot move when you tilt the device. I thought thats what the gyro does
Do it while you are in the car (as a passenger), and see if that move when the car accelerates or slows down
Why would one calibration act the same as another .
jje
I am having the same problem the gyro calibration was working till i click on calibrate as soon as i clicked it i no longer see the ball moving :/ tried wiping and everything nothing worked.
Mine doesn't move either.
I could of sworn mine was moving last time I checked! Very strange..
I cant get mine to move either.
Maybe this might help.

the gyro problem is annoying .. every app just turn into landscape mode :/
hope someone fix it fast ;/

Before I root my Samsung, can you tell me what rom you have installed or what you did last?
Thx

Lite'ning rom , it was working untill i clicked on calibrate after clicking it it got stuck :/ well that me i don't know about the OP.
I have the same problem (indications for gyro callibration) but also a magnetic sensor problem (see this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111355 threat)
I used an app called sensor test / plot which shows problems with the magnetic sensor and orientation.
Anyone having the same problem?
Try an App called GPS status, it displays the output of all the GS2s sensors on one screen, including satellites, compass, gyro and accelerometer, at least you can reassure yourselves that the various sensors are actually working

All the numbers move for me using the sensor test/plot app.
in sensor test everything is working but the phone just stay in landscape mode .. thats the problem that i have.
You can try *#0*# on your dialler and then use the Sensor test and check if everything is all right.
tested on *#0*#it says its working fine as well .. :/
Recently my magnetic sensor did not work. Yesterday suddenly it came to life exept I don't trust it.
Just to check if my sensors are OK I would like to compare some data. I use *#0*# and the SENSOR
My readings are (when on table):
ACCELEROMETER Sensor Raw Data
x:-10/10 y:-20/-40 z:3030/3060
Gyroscope Sensor
Y:-0.01/-1.00 P:0.01/0.80 R:0.01/0.90
Gyro self test OK, Graph shows normal plot with rotation around all axes)
Magnetic Sensor
Magnetic: x:-45 y:-600 z:1086 (values change with orientation but stay around the same range, exept for the z value, it stays at 1086.48 contantly)
Azimuth: 176 (changes just +/-2 degr with rotation and +/- 20 degr with roll)
Pitch: 0,050 (changes normal with pitch)
Roll: 0,40 (changes normal with roll)
Little compass indicates South (red line towards you) and does not change with rotation (just +/- 20 degr with roll). It also says need for calibration and the number 0.
I know values will be different with everyone but should be around the same range. I have values (Accelerometer) in the 10 / 30 and 3000 range depending on de axis. Same with the Magnetic sensor 50 /600 and 1080 range.
As the magnetic z-axis value is stuck I expect a faulty sensor.
the test is all good to me but the image test it failed to move from landscape to normal. hope someone can help :/

[Q] Sensor test - Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyroscope etc

I went into it by "*#0*#", and clicked on the Sensor.
It brought up the screen with some numbers running for each of the sensors.
What should I look for to say it is successfully tested.
When I keep my hand near the sensor it vibrates with the screen going green colour.
After getting into each of these sensors the screen doesn't respond for a while to go back.
the power noise test says "FAIL" and sometimes "PASS".

Incompatible sensors in the Evo LTE?

I've tried several different apps that report sensor data from the Evo LTE, and almost all of the sensors show no data.
Only things like the proximity sensor, light and sound register data.
The orientation sensor and compass sensor show nothing and the accelerometer shows almost no changes as I move the phone around.
The Compass app always shows North.
And yet... Google sky maps works perfectly.
I wanted to use the orientation sensor to control some servos on an arduino project like I had been with my old Evo 4G.
Have they changed the APIs, or are they using some new chipset that (almost) all the apps don't yet understand?
Use elixir 2 to test the sensors

I tested my compass app and it works perfectly.
Hmm -
Compass (Catch.com) and Compass Pro are stuck on North.
Compass & Level shows North and always centered level
Smart Compass and Compass (Droidware UK) are showing the actual direction.
Labirynth light works.
Google Sky Map works.
Elixir 2 shows:
Accelerometer: seems to be working
Gravity sensor: nothing
Gyroscope: nothing
Light sensor: works
Linear acceleration sensor: nothing
Magnetic field sensor: works
Microphone: works
Orientation sensor: nothing
Proximity sensor: works
Rotation vector sensor: nothing

Using a rom of some sort? Possibly it has broken things.
Everything checks out for me in elixir. Go have sprint run their tests on your device. Sounds like yours needs replacement

Do you think maybe sensor tests are a bit esoteric for your basic Sprint store?

Any store with a service department has a wide assortment of tests. All they have to do is plug it in

Gyro/compass and photosphere

Does anyone know how photosphere can be fixed to recognize properly the gyro and compass sensors? I've tried several roms and 4.2 camera versions and on my phone the horizontal motion is not detected at all and the vertical motion is averaged badly (~15s). So I assume there is a setting somewhere or a device link that needs to be made so that photosphere recognizes the gyro and another setting somewhere else for the time averaging constant.
Panorama works ok and that [I think] it relies as well on the gyro.
Yes, I tried GPS Status calibration, letting the phone on a flat surface with photosphere turned on, extreme rotations around all axes.
The razr doesn't have drivers for a gyroscope, just compass and accelerometer so photosphere will never work.

But opening GPS Sensor and Turbo GPS I see the absolute radial tracking is correct. Google sky works and so does panorama. I assume by this that the gyro (measuring speed of rotation) is not really needed since it can be determined from differentiating the magnetometer.
Maybe a custom device driver can be built that emulates this? Would be interested in doing this.

Sensors not working after replacing the battery

Hi,
after replacing the battery of my SGS6 Edge some sensors are not working.
1. Light sensor is not working when the brightness is set to automatic
2. Gyroscope sensor is not working when screen rotates
maybe other sensors are not working properly too.
I already tried to restart the phone but there is no effect.
On the hidden service menu the the light all sensors seems to work.
The light sensor is working 100% - when I cover it, it shows "0 lux"
The Gyroscope Sensor is working too, but what does the "OIS GYRO" mean? The value on X and Y does not change.
It's my business phone with a lot of data and apps. Thats the reason why I still don't try a hard reset.
Is there a solution whithout resetting the phone?
EDIT: Gyroscope seems to work... strange. But light sensor is still not working. Brightness does not change.
i've similar issue with mine, but I don't know if battery was changed before was given to me, I tried many roms nougat and marshmallow based, but the problem persist. with automatic brightness on, if I scroll the bar, it doesn't change anithing, I've to disable the automatism
