Hi all! Is it possible to flash the smartphone with the firmware of other vendor? For example, this Acer has CPU Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 400 and Samsung galaxy Grand 2 also has this CPU, GPU is also the same Adreno 305. I suppose something may not work, but what i have to do to flash this firmware for at least to boot? Acer is rooted, CWM is installed. What the issues could I have for flashing and booting?
The second option is to build Cyanogenmod custom firmware.

Flashing anything not made for your device will likely brick it. So that's not a good idea. :good:
It would be easier to build your own CyanogenMod than it would be to try to get a Samsung rom to boot on another device.

Hy! Sorry for my bad english. I tried to port a MIUI7 from the ZTE V5 RedBull (from original miui page) rom and the system is booted up but the wifi, the sound, BT, rotation doesnt worked (not hard to fix, but the miui rom had a security by the original developer so if I modify something in system, I got a popup after restart that this is a pirate version of this rom :S

Could you tell what the sequence of activities you have done? You also have Acer E600 and just flashed MIUI7 from ZTE V5 or the firmware need some changes?

I also have an E600 Here is everything what need:
First you need a stock E600 flashable zip rom. You can do this with dsixda kitchen from the system and boot image.
Download the ZTE RedBull MIUI rom: http://en.miui.com/download-243.html
Rom porting how-to: http://en.miui.com/thread-70745-1-1.html (do every step except the boot.img editing)
Then comes the boot.img
1. Unpack the e600 and the zte boot image with Android Image Kitchen
2. Open the split_img folder in the unpacked E600 boot image, copy and overwrite everything except the boot.img-ramdisk.cpio.gz to the ZTE unpacked boot split_img folder.
3. Repack the ZTE boot image
Reboot the phone to cwm, install the ported zip to phone then flash the modified ZTE boot.img
any update on the custom rom?

Ok first off. Those are not root features they are custom features built into the os. Second. You will not find a custom kernel for your device as the OEM only imports the device from China and they don't have the kernel source code. And last. Your best bet would be some basic rom ports that will never work 100% due to lack of kernel source. You find a rom port based on last year's CM that might work with your device.

I love it to Port/Compile Rom's or Kernel's for any Phone.
But now i have a mtk device. It's the Tokio Smartphone 1.0 Plus.
lasst week i created a Flashable stock rom zip. No problem..
It works fine but when i try to port cyanogenmod or other AOSP roms it comes bootloop's
I don't know why..
I have a CWM based recovery..
I think it lie on my recovery (to old..)
but when i try to compile a twrp or a philz recovery, it say's its to large and can have issues..

I'm not quite getting this different recoveries for different Android version
Why this is important and is recovery choosen by which Android version is ON the phone or which Android version I want to install?
For example, I have now stock ROM 4.4.4 but want to install custom ROM like CM or Resurection.
Which recovery I should install and is it just flashing recovery img without bootloader unlocking or such things?

hello my friend, i had a similar problem like you with this viber c ( a2020a40) lenovo phone. i tried to flashboot a twrp img bad without usbdebugging mode enabled. so after that my phone goes to a black screen and no recovery mode at all. i spend long time to research and finally i found a solution for my problem. and i found and a working rom for this model to a russian site.

I think you have some typo errors - the commands should be like:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Okay . Maybe the rom u flashed was for a2010 .. as far as i can see.. that older version has like over 5 stable roms.. and we are stuck with nothing .. why .. oh please.. could anyone make a rom for our device?

I would love to try funtouch. the name seems cool. I currently use miui 8 v6.11 and it's amazing how my phone got transformed. I actually feel stock firmware is fake and full of bloat.

Hey guys Good Day. I have a Lenovo a2020a40 device but the charging port is broken and the OS won't let me proceed to the main display it will stock on first logo then shut's off then it will go to the recovery mode. Can someone help me? Or someone knows how to solve it? I was looking for a stock rom that allows me to flash in the stock recovery but yeah no luck at all .

Yes u can. Install TWRP recovery first then the firmware (since u r on marshmallow u need nougat firmware), then which ever rom u prefer.

For installation of custom rom you need the following
device
unlocked bootloader
custom recovery like twrp
rom package , gapps , other stuff like root addon , volume mod , sound mod etc
working brain :silly:
patience:silly:
Now let me answer you . Download your desired rom package for your device . And simply flash the rom and other stuff through twrp . The rom installation process may vary a little bit but the standard process is to BOOT TO TWRP
WIPE SYSTEM ,CACHE/ DALVIK, DATA
FLASH THE DESIRED ROM + GAPPS(OPTIONAL) + OTHER STUFF ( OPTIONAL )
and now finally reboot to system . Voila you are good to go . Hope you got what you asked . Thank you
