Hi Everyone,
I am currently seeing unacceptable battery drain on my GT-P7500 (original SGT 10.1).
Battery capacity falls at 1.4% per hour overnight when the device should be in deep sleep. The problem seems to have started when I updated to ICS. Using BBS and other apps, I have established that the KWL l2_hsic prevents my tab from sleeping when mobile data is off. When data is on, other KWLs, notably, multipdp, secril_fd-interface and PowerManagerService, take over. My tab is not rooted.
I have been trying to sort this out for a few weeks but I'm no nearer to resolving the problem. The support from Samsung UK has been extremely disappointing (I'm being polite!).
Can anyone help?

Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...y+drain&page=6
I'm still happy with it. Tab lasts with normal use 4-5 days. Not using it, 1% per day instead of 1% per hour.
Also tried samsung portugal that had no idea about the problem. They told me to do a factory reset....

Hi Phibs,
Thanks for the feedback.
Unfortunately, the link you have provided takes me to a 404 error.
In view of the excellent battery life that you get, I am very keen to see what the link has to say.

Sorry!!!
Here goes
At last.
For those who have the drain problem and don't want to install a deodexed zipaligned and already rooted rom here goes what i did,
1 - Install stock rom from your country using odin.
2 - Install bootloader CWM. (I used CWM 6).
3 - Root your device using superuser or supersu. (I was not able to install supersu directly from zip file!!!???)
4 - Extract boot.img from CHN rom that you can find in sammobile.
5 - "Tar it"
6 - Install boot.tar via odin. Now you won't have wifi.
7 - Copy the following files from CHN stock rom. To copy this files you have obviously to extact them. You may use, I think Toldo won't be mad, his stock rom's Zipaligned, deodexed.....
/system/lib/modules/dhd.ko
/system/lib/modules/scsi_wait_scan.ko
/system/lib/modules/tcrypt.ko
/system/bin/wlandutservice
/system/bin/wpa_supplicant
Voilá. The P7500 finally deep sleeps for long long time.
Heuuu, not completely.
Yesterday, after several days working perfectly i found out that when you unmount a pen directly through the notification bar, the device stops "deep sleeping". A reboot will solve the problem. I already knew about this problem and the solution to prevent a reboot is to unmount the pen via settings.....
Hope this helps someone.
Thanks to Stiffmeister from another forum who used and cooked Toldo's Stock Rom (which are stock rom zipaligned, deodexed and unsecured) and solved the Draining problem.
Thanks to Toldo for his great job of extracting stock Rom's and making them available.

You have to search in xda forum. There are multiple guides that will lead you trough.
If you are unable to find it, I'll try to make one.
Hi! I'm in same case, but my battery drain about 2%/hour.
CHN Stock ROM is Chinese? I use to flash CM10.1, can I repair the error with this ROM?
In my case Samsung Spain says that it works perfectly...
Thanks!

Whitch version of odin are you using? Never had that problem.
I used version 3.07, choose the file boot.tar via PDA button.
If it doesn't work try to put inside the TAR boot.img and cache.img, both from the chinese ROM.
In reply to your previous questions, CHN is chinese.
Never tried CM10.1 since it still has minor bugs.

Thanks for your reply! Yes, I use Odin 3.07 like in snapshot. It stops in this screen, tab has the progress bar without evolution...
First i would try if battery drian stops with this method, then i try with CM10.1.

So, you first installed your original stock rom xwlp5. Wiped all caches. Then tried to install the kernel from chinese stock Rom, "taring" boot.img and cache.img.
Nothing happens and the odin freezes!?
Try once more to delete all caches and wipe dalvik cache. Currently the bootloader is the original one from samsung or it's the cwm?
Try to change the bootloader.
Is your tab a P7500 locked or unlocked. (ex. Vodafone......). Mine is unlocked.
I yhink the tar file isn't tared correctly, how do yo do?

I used linux.
$ tar -H ustar -c boot.img > boot.tar
$ md5sum -t boot.tar >> boot.tar
$ mv boot.tar boot.tar.md5
Try also using Izarc under windows without doing the md5 part.
Hi folks,
Although I started this thread, I am going to quietly back out and thank people for their replies. I do not want to root my tab as it is well within the warranty period. Besides which, I don't think it should be necessary. It's letting Samsung off the hook.
I am closely following the l2_hsic thread on these forums as the problem I am seeing seems to be caused by that wakelock.
AD
I had my Tab rooted and I tried all programs to delete extra wakelocks and it doesn't be totally effective, tomorrow will send the Tab to Samsung for second time, i hope they change anything to correct the drain.
I will post in few days!
I've loaded older version of modem (XXKK2 - Honeycomb) and I have no more ls_hsic problems! I'm on CM 10.1 (android 4.2.2). Kernel from CM 3.1.10. The modem got from this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867147
Try it!
I flashed the XXKK2 modem and that didn't help with the l2_hsic battery drain...
What did help was putting in a cheap pre-paid simcard and enabling the 2G dataconnection. I don't have the simcard topped up, it does receive a signal though, but bye bye l2_hsic wakelock!!!
I flashed HC modem and, at the moment, all is working perfect!! I'm not sure yet that problem is solvented but for the moment it's working...
Thanks!

Not again! After a few days it's back
So there's still no solution? I'd really like to put my tab on airplane mode when I'm not using it, but the times it slept well and drained nearly 0% battery are long gone...
Hello. So I've had my Galaxy S4 for two days now, rooted it fine day one but am now having an issue. My Wifi toggle worked fine up until about 3 hours ago, now when I try to enable wifi, the toggle blinks green slightly for about half a second, then just shuts off again. Has anyone else had a similar issue? I am not on any custom ROM and am on the stock kernel.

Probably not super useful to you, but I had this happen to me out of nowhere on a custom ROM, and the only thing I could manage to do to get it working properly again was to re-flash my ROM. There's not much else you're able to modify while using the phone to try and get it working.
What version stock rom or you on? And the baseband? did you do an update?
That is a kernel issue. Flash a different verizon loki kernel.

I've attached an image of my current versions, I haven't done anything besides root it with Odin. My issue is that I cannot flash certain kernels because I need an official samsung kernel to use. I have to keep my flash counter at 0 with TriangleAway in order to use Screen Mirroring.
Hi
Although not new to rooting and samsung devices, Im totally blue when it comes to the 925F. (just got it)
Since I got it from mom in law, keeping it running is imperative to my health.
Did quite some reading and still not too sure so :
I'd like to know the basic steps to get it rooted. Don't care about tripping knox
Not intending to flash different ROMs for now, will stay on stock but like to have a custom recovery in place.
My details:
Android ver: 6.0.1
Baseband: G925FXXU3DPC3
Kernel: 3.10.61-7025264
Build: MMB29K.G925FXXU3DPCN
Android patch level: 2nd April, 2016.
Would somebody pls. be so good and provide me the basic steps + links to any required SW if possible, so I don't get stuck half way?
If any further info is needed, shoot.
Highly appreciate it.

flash kernel
simplest way is to flash via odin
1) rc kernel 2.1 or any kernel for the 925f - (S6-UniKernel_v6-0001-ODIN or SpaceX-Kernel_MM_RC2.1_G925F.tar - i used this one quite often of samsung firmware and custom roms)
2) then flash arter97-recovery-g925fi-12.0-twrp_3.0.0-0.tar --- to install twrp recovery - do not use any other version of twrp on the 25f - none works - just tried the supposedly super duper 3.0.1 version - it conked - stick with arter can't go wrong)
more than once when getting stuck with custom roms or other issues i back tracked with samsung roms and these 2 tweaks and i was back on my feet in less than 30 minutes
good luck

Thanks By now I took the leap and managed with SpaceX kernel. Recovery must be arter's than cause I had no issues besides it refuses to reboot nicely by button press in recovery. (need to hold power and vol down to reboot)
Other experience I had was Super Su asking to flash new binaries, don't use TWRP but regular option cause my phone got caught in a boot loop into recovery. Had to flash stock to recover.
Anyhow thanks for your reply.

I just rooted my phone (Samsung S6 Edge [SM-G925P] running Android 6.0.1) this Friday and I have a couple of questions about using the CyanogenMod ROM and installing Xposed. To note, I am pretty, pretty new (I literally just rooted 2 days ago.
So my question about CyanogenMod is will it run on my rooted Samsung and is it dedoxed? I already have TWRP and SuperSU flashed and installed on my phone.
And my question about Xposed is will it run on my phone, as well with CyanogenMod, TWRP and SuperSU? I tried installing it with the original ROM on my phone, but that provided to be disasterous since it soft-bricked my phone, but I heard that was because my ROM was deodexed.
Hi NovaViper ! It depends. Cyanogenmod and other ROMS can come in two flavors: odexed or deodexed. The one on the official Cyanogenmod Website is deodexed. If you go on Cyanogemod's official website they don't have a ROM for Samsung Galaxy S6 / Edge. Check it out: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/ Look at the left to see supported devices. Unfortunately, it's not there. Some Galaxy S6 / Edge models do support Cyanogenmod but as for your model the SM-G925P there is still no official support for CM ROM. Check this link out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...development/cyanogenmod-13-galaxy-s6-t3269984 Just out of curiosity, why do you want to install CM on your device?
I want to try CM because I heard it offers full customization.. I really would like to customize the lockscreen and colors of the UI especially and because it is deodexed, so I can also add Xposed. I have another ROM atm called Mostly Stock (its based on ROM but its deodexed and have a few changes to the stock UI, BUT it still has the parts I hate about the stock ROM). I specifically want CM because I haven't found any other ROM that offers full customization, deodxed for Xposed, and most importantly, is not like the stock ROM.
Oh, also with CM, I tried to install it but it said my device isn't support.. I tried the one from the link
If you want a full stable ROM for Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and XPosed on it I would recommend this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/development/rom-carhdrom-1-t3111519. My friend has it on his ROOTED S6 Edge and it offers even more customization's then Cyanogenmod plus you can install XPosed on it. Give it a try.
Thanks I already flashed it but I notice that it isn't responsive to touch. I can interact with the buttons but no response to touch whatsoever. Seems like there isn't a ROM that works with my SM-G925P, the edge that rom works with is a G925F
Hmm, I thought it would work on your model. Try this: http://androidfreeroms.com/renegade-android-m-6-0-1-aroma-rom-sprint-samsung-s6-g925p/
I got the rom flashed and running.. but i cant seem to restore my messages from the samsung backup.. i can only get them from Textra (which doesnt export them). Also, i cant receieve text messages either.
Well, I finally got my messages backed up but.. I notice something else now. I had installed Xposed, which ended up giving me a bootloop and I had to factory and data reset, and reflash my stock rom. then I installed TWRP and then Renegade, but the mobile data isn't working anymore. Its just black the black bars.. I can't even find the Mobile Data enable button anywhere. (It works on stock rom though). To point out, mobile data WAS working before I installed Xposed. Right now, I'm reflashing my stock rom and seeing if it works.
--UPDATE 1--
Yeah, the stock mobile data works.. although I do have a theory on what could be going on
Theory 1: It could be I have to install my ROMS a certain way, initally, I had stock ROM, then I added the "Mostly Stock ROM" THEN I added Rengeade when you suggested it to me
Theory 2: Possibily signal strength/proxies (I'm doing this at on my school's wifi)
Theory 3: Something that Xposed has modified and its still there
--UPDATE 2--
I did the first theory and it worked successfully BUT.. I did remember that I had installed SuperSU soon after flashing twrp (which came after i flashed the stock rom).. Now I'm trying to see if that made a difference.
--UPDATE 3--
Ok, so it seems that it is a certain install order (tried with both superSU installed first and without). But I'm worried now about installing Xposed.. as I'm now nervous that it may end up messing up my phone again (It took a while for me to figure out how to get it back working.. as it ended up bricking with continuous looping and even factory resetting/clearing data off didn't work. I had to flash the stock rom for it to work again)
Interesting. My friends all have the International version which is G925F. Yours is Sprint ? Or some other cell phone provider ?
If your model goes haywire with simple custom rom installations and other apps than I wouldn't risk installing XPosed BUT if you do then try to follow these instructions... they work for your model:
https://xtremetricks.net/install-xposed-framework-android-6-0-6-0-1-marshmallow/
My phone is Sprint and I downloaded Xposed from the Magitsk app and it worked without bricking my phone.. I wonder why it was acting up
Strange thing, I seems I HAVE to install the 'Mostly Stock ROM' BEFORE I add Renegade.. the mobile data works to not work at all without installing Mostly Stock first.. How any idea how to fix this?
Well, I tried installing Magisk and it bricked my phone once again.. I'm really confused with whats going on. I have a backup of the stock ROM from SamMobile. What I want to do now is completely clear off ALL data from all of the roms and just start over, is that even possible? Also, if I delete the system files, do I HAVE to install the Stock ROM first, or can I just add the custom ROM and it will add the OS?
Well normally for rooted phones, you only add the custom ROM and it will automatically add the OS. I have no idea why you having so much problem with it. Did you unluck the bootloader ??
Yeah.. (I think), I made sure OEM Unlock is enabled and USB debugging is on.. Not sure what could be causing such problems with my phone.. I honestly wish I knew
What method did you use to root your phone and unlock the bootloader ?
I used the systemless method (installed TWRP, then installed the latest SuperSU which used the systemless method by itself) and I think I did.. there was an option where I had to enable (it was called OEM Unlocking, it was preventing me from flashing)
And I forgot to ask another question.. should I (and if such thing is possible) wipe the system/ folder and then install the custom ROM onto my phone without having to add the stock one at all?
What I would do if I were in your shoes is I would unroot and re-lock your bootloader again... see this article for unrooting: http://howunroot.com/unroot-supersu/samsung/galaxy+s6+edge+sm-g925p/5.0/ Now... once you unroot your phone... I don't think re-locking your bootloader will have any effect... but you can try to relock your bootloader and bring it to the original state meaning factory... once there just follow these instructions step by step: http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/skipsoft-toolkit-galaxy-s6-edge-root-unlock-restore-flash-stock-firmware-drivers-more-1517879 Once you root it and unlock your bootloader again, and after your install TWRP, go into TWPR, wipe dalvik cache, wipe system, wipe everything ... and then instlal the custom ROM that I gave you in the link, and it should be working find without problems. Try that and get back to me and update me... if you have any questions then just post it here and I will help you as much as i can.
I don't think I unlocked the bootloader because I looked up the instructions to how to unlock the bootloader and I didn't do that.. all I did was enable OEM unlock, is that the same thing as unlocking the bootloader? If not, how do I unlock the bootloader?
Hi guys! I have my s6 edge for a while now and I have flashed too many roms over and over again.
My problem is that recently it just randomly crash whenever I do heavy games or sometimes after I unlock and go to the camera. I had to do the power + volume up reset in order to reboot the phone. Sometimes when it freezes the music still goes on.
I was wondering if this is a firmware problem or hardware? The phone is almost 2 years old. I flashed a custom kernel for nougat before I flashed the stock rom using odin. I really need your help and opinions. Thanks!
tldr; I should have verified if I have flashed the stock kernel even if I flashed it with odin because the custom kernel may have caused the random freezes.
What I did was flashed all the roms that I have saved and finally flashed the latest stock UK Nougat firmware.
Maybe it was because I flashed a N0G33K [mm/n] before I flashed the stock MM, which didn't overwrite the old kernel with the stock.
Hope this helps for someone in the future!
