It is based on the AOSP coding with ALOT of changes and alot of recoding. So while it is based on the source code it is not pure AOSP.
Now I get it. Thank you very much zelendel :victory:
do they accept AOSP based kernels??? IE: I have CM 12.1 and want to use a KT aosp 5.1... Is that the correct conversion?
Thanks

No you cant. A pure AOSP rom doesnt have the theme engine and with the upcoming android version CM themes will no longer work due to RRO which is android own theming set up.
Maybe is it real now?
I owuld appreciate to test it, but I don't know how, if it like AOKP or something like that.

Unfortnatly, I've tried to flash just like AOKP but it stucks in "booting..." (with the android and engines in the background)
I've not tried in slot 1, I'm little affraid installing into slot 1 and brick or something else

This is because of Hashcode's hard work and extraordinary amount of input into the Unofficial CM10.1, I am sure he will make a new post himself. I dont think you meant to steal his glory tho.

it's the opposite
Yes, it is, you must be on ICS kernel, that's the reason it has some bugs still, as BT one... IMHO

But I can ONLY install into sot_1?
Or are there a way to instal into slot_2?
Are there any problem installing in slot_1?

You're wrong, it's a unofficial release. The one in this topic is a Official Release from cryanogen team.
Installed using BMM in slot 2, with the "why_we_have_to_skip_devfs_setup_myth.zip" patch.
Works great! Camcorder working but still no flash with de camera.

Why the CM, and the AOKP are made in ICS Kernel? Why the developers don't use the JB Kernel of the leaked Verizon?? Something prevents it?
Maybe because it's not an official version (it's a leaked).

There's an image for download in the Nightly's session. You may download it and flash. That's all. I did it here through Safestrap 3.11 on Slot 1 and it wokred very well.
This ROM is awesome, but there still some artifacts and some other bugs known from AOKP.
But, for the whole thing, the system is sort of stable.
The official cm and aokp Roms are the same as Hashcode and Dhackers unofficial roms. The only difference is that we get updates directly from the aokp and cm teams now instead of Hashcode and Dhacker having to merge the changes from aokp and cm.
The official builds will stay on the ics kernel until the official jellybean build is released from Motorola. And probably will have to wait until Motorola releases the kernel source code.

dude dont be stupid. its the same developer and the thread needs only to change the title to "official" from "unofficial" use common sense
I'm testing
I'm testing this rom since yesterday and it's very stable...
My razr has the ICS kernel, and I used Boot Manager on slot3 to test... Needed to patch devfs to boot..
The ROM is fast... but some old problems... like camera flash... the bluetooth I cant test since I dont have any BT devices...
Google now working... camera recording working... notification bar is the new 4.2.2 one
when flash camera is working it will be my default ROM...
awesome..

First, you need to be more polite with people you don't know. And second, despite the official build is only "cm" merged with hashcode's work it's still a new build since only now it will receive support from cyanogen team (not only about the razr port, which probably will continue to be hashcode's work, but about functionality, apps and more). But you're right, changing hashcode's thread title resolves, till he do that,it's the only thread that talk about the official release.

Ok, but the ROM's make with the JB Kernel are very good and eliminate bugs such as camera flash and bluetooth.
>.< Is only for the JB kernel dude ? |
As stated in the cm 10.1 dev thread lets keep the general CM discussions here instead of cluttering the dev thread.
Great idea - now we can have all the misguided, misinformed speculation we want as to what hurdles have yet to be cleared before the DNA gets official CM nightly support
jk
Haha, exactly.
Actually, I think efforts might soon be underway to port straight AOSP as well I hope what I've heard (I can't give details, so please don't ask) comes to fruition.
That'd be great. I've been trying to learn more about programming and the build system so I can start helping out with some of it. I've setup ubuntu and sync and build cm every couple of days and I've been messing with building aokp since its based on cm.
AOKP, PA, PAC ROMs me want
Also some AOSP kernels as well
Sent from my TF300T using Tapatalk 2
I made a few changes and aokp started to build but I came across an error and haven't had time to look into it. If I get it built I'll try to learn some more about git and upload the source

Why pure aosp as opposed to CM?

Because a lot of popular ROMs out there are based on AOSP rather than on CM. Besides, there's always room for both right?
I'd love to try pure AOSP. I've always had HTC devices so I never got the pure Android experience.

because I want android and not all the stuff that comes with CM, if I want themes and mods ill do them myself
Does anyone have any resources that break down the build process?
I'm pretty excited for the 10.1 rom to become a daily driver. Once it's complete I hope to see possible other roms that are desensed... I'm sick of sense! I want some unadulterated android (or close to it)!
why would you want an aosp kernel? how are they better?

Sense kernels won't work on aosp and the stock one they included in CM can't be overclocked or undervolted.

The kernel we are using right now is our stock kernel with cm commits. It doesn't include overclock or any other features because they could cause more bugs. Better to work all the bugs out of cm before you start doing things that could introduce more. Cplamer has already said that he has run a custom kernel with cm on his DNA so it is definitely going to happen. Just have to wait or build your own kernel unfortunately.

The other reason is because they're making so many changes to cm right now to get it working that a new kernel would have to be released for every update. I believe T1gartist has been running cm oc'd with a custom kernel as well

If you have the source it's not hard to add overclocking.

Can u upload the build.
I wud like to test it out.
What all features are working ? Are all" Whats Working" features CM10.1 working for it ?
Sorry for asking all these questions.
BTW, u should create a new thread in Orig. Android Dev. with AOKP build :victory:
Hi all!!! I just got my nook tablet recently, and I'm having trouble finding ROMs for it. I'm currently running Cm10.2.1 but I wanted to flash something new, also what do I need to flash to be able to over clock?
Thanks All
You can get official CM11 builds from http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=acclaim and Gapps for CM11 from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2670589 for pointers on how to update from CM10 to CM11.
Thank you. I've already got cm11 nightlies. Was looking for cm7 and other Aosp roms is there a thread where a collection of ROMs has been setup?

CM7 is based on Android 3.0 (Honeycomb), many recently released/updated apps likely would not be backward compatible with it.
Your best bet for hunting for contemporary ROMs is to browse through the threads on http://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-tablet/development -- e.g., there are a handful of ROMs and custom kernels by developer Demetris you can try out.

I apologize for my earlier post my name calling was completely unnecessary it just irks me when you come to a site where people discuss a hobby and need help and you just expect them to know what is here and there. I am also used to huge groups of roms being available I fcome from devices
Moto droid x
Og droid
Xperia play
Sgs3
Again I apologize

No, you didn't ask anything, there are no question marks in the OP.
The kernel source its there, Android source is there too. Go build yourself a ROM.
The closest right now is LineageOS, you can find it on Development section

1st of all who the hell asked you to build ??
So why are you doing this show off.if devs want to build they will. We are here to give our opinion and suggestion.
How about we all take a chill pill and relax a little for a bit. There are clear misunderstandings from posts that could have been worded more clearly, so we'll leave it at that.
As for AOSP roms running smoother than CM/LOS, CM/LOS is based on AOSP. Speed in roms is different the type of changes that are implemented into the rom, like how AOSPA is using LTO throughout their repos. Some AOSP roms add in compiler optimizations to speed up performance (like AOSPA), but it will cause regressions on certain devices with older/faulty hardware. Just my 2 cents, overall, performance on CM/LOS is not much different than any other AOSP rom out there, since they're essentially the same when it's down to the basics.
