I have been debating whether to flash Cyanogenmod and am looking for user experiences.
Is it smoother? faster? use less RAM? Battery life?
Would be good to have some benchmark figures comparing stock and Cyanogenmod 7, 9 and 10.
Also which version is better/ what are the differences between 7, 9 and 10?
If I was to flash it, how do i save my current ROM in case I want to go back?
...
Try it out bro for better results

CM9 or CM10 is much smoother than stock rom for my S2 phone. Unfortunately the Jabra mono bluetooth 3 headset is not working well with CM9/10. However no problem with old Nokia bluetooth 2 headset. For now I am sticking with ICS stock rom as I need the bluetooth headset function.
I need bluetooth as I listen to my music through a stereo bluetooth headset!

I think cm7 is a lot more stable? I've tried the cm9 nightlies and there are bugs still. Haha.

I'm on ics so would have to be cm9.
Why don't you use stable version

Hi all,
Can you please place your rom suggessions about player 5.0(YP-G70)... Which rom you prefer and why?
Eryigit GB-ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465144
Chip v1.5 GB-ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737432
I used both of them, both are great, stable and fast.
If you want the ICS look and feel, use Chip ROM.
PARANOIDANDROID JB-ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083052
This is also a great ROM, it has a Hybrid Engine that allows you to switch to Tablet mode or Phablet mode.
But the camera, bluetooth, and headset still don't work. besides that everything's good.
There is also a huge noticeable improvement in performance.
Hope This Helps!
i'm currently using eryigit rom, but it's beeing laggy. Free ram is around 60mb and this causes problems while usng programmes.
i'm planning to try chip rom...
by the way, camera and bluetooth is important. so it seems i can't use cm9 based roms.
any other suggessions?

Actually, Supermaster has made a patch for Bluetooth in cm9 and you can still take pictures in cm10. The preview is just a little weird but the picture comes out fine

Totally agree with using Chip!!! Loving it! Gingerbread stability ICS look & feel!

So i've been using a custom rom (ICS) and it got really laggy when i installed just 7 more applications the booting takes longer laggs and so on.
But with GB the battery and performance is mutch better on the Xperia Mini.
So what features do i loose with downgrading do GB?

Hmmm...you won't lose nothing much if downgrading to GB in phone features but you will lose a lot of apps in Play Store that compatible with GB....most of the latest apps/games that come out recently has the minimum requirement is on ICS and above....
Thanks dude. ICS sucks. JellyBean Isn't stable enough yet. Gb is the best for now.

ICS is stable. But on Jelly Bean the Fm radio and notification light don't work. I use fm radio everyday and i need notification lights

Hmmm....FM Radio and Notification Light works in Jelly Bean v4.1.2 (unless you use nAa Custom Kernel v3.+.+, FM Radio will not be working) while in Jelly Bean v4.2.2 only FM Radio didn't works....Notification Light work fine...
Well i use a GIngerbread custom rom ofc. i wound use the official GB because it's bloated with apps i will not ever use. I found a nice Xperia S styled rom and i use it the battery is mutch better performance is 10x better. Hopefully when NobodyAtAll will start developing Roms for these devices it will be top notch stuff.

So you are saying that GB still beats the custom JB roms(i.e. CM 10.1 LX, FXP CM 10, etc.)??
In therms of my daily usage. If the FM radio , notification lights worked then Jelly would be the best beast of a rom.

Well, If the JB room has its focus on performance, then its better than a GB one, at least from my experience

What do you mean focus? What I mean is what if stock gb and cm10.1 has the same number of app and the same configuration

Hmm....even if GB and JB has the same number of app and the same configuration, JB is still superior than GB....JB is a continuest evolution in Android development....what ever bug in previous release on Android is fixes in the next release + new features/addon in every next development....
now the main problem is right now, our MDPI devices is born with GB as default Android version, so basically GB if perfect for our devices...ICS is in the other hand is a minor upgrade before SONY abandoned Sony Ericsson product...so whatever bug in ICS will never be fixed by SONY, instead SONY release JB for 2012 devices...what we have in JB right now is probably 70% capability of the true JB come from Dev in CM....
Also to my knowledge, there is not a fully working camera/video recording on JB, that is pretty much the only reason keeping me on ICS right now.

Hey guys,
Do you think I should use CyanogenMod 11 or the Stock ROM?
Use cm11 because it gives you a new interface personalization and runs snappy. Also you can download the apps you could never have on stock and get OK Google and a lot more.

No you will have to download a 3rd party FM radio.

KitKat still lags a bit on single-core devices, though the amount of lag still depends - a little on my Player 4.0, horrible on my Incredible S. You might wanna try out Jelly Bean 4.2.x/4.3.x ROMs if there are any, because they produce less lag and at the same time has more modern UI (compared to stock, of course) and almost the same level of app compatibility as KitKat.

But I thought KitKat was supposedly going to run better than jelly bean on weaker devices? Like 500 mb ram and single core like the galaxy players?
Sent from my LG-LG870
They are its just that we run a custom code when were running custom ROMs. It's suppose to make them faster (KitKat) but their is a little lag in 4.0. I don't have any problems with KitKat on my galaxy 5.0 running cm11. Cm11 actually runs like stick to me because of low personalization and speed. I switched because stock 2.3.6 was getting dull and I wanted to install some apps I never had the chance to install.

Well, it is supposed to be, but it might be the amount of hacks that's needed to run KitKat on legacy devices that slows them down. In the case of Incredible S, the dev has to make tremendous efforts to get ION and many other stuffs running just in order to make the ROM boot properly, let alone having time to optimize the code.
Disabling transparency and other visual effects (aka "Low RAM mode" ) can make it run somewhat faster, but not much.

Spirit FM (or its second generation, Spirit2) can utilize the device's integrated FM hardware (if there's any in the first place) and doesn't require internet.

Hi guys.
Lets see what his ur favorite rom version it's KK our LP?
I'm using the slim Kat 9.0 version.
I go with kk, 5.1.1 rom are good but the problem I'm facing is the camera. Camera on LP are lack of features plus I been buying numbers of camera apps from the Google Play, none of them are smooth most are laggy and full of bugs.
KK on the other side retains the Samsung stock camera. Which leave me with much smoothness and more options.
Should have started this thread/discussion in the general section not here fellas...
