I'm not particularly worried; I actually posted some thoughts about Google I/O earlier today:
http://www.theverge.com/2013/4/10/4209366/a-prediction-for-google-i-o
I'm quite happy with Android 4.1, so I guess it depends what KLP brings, but it's hard to imagine Google bringing anything that would make me want to abandon HTC's awesome camera software (which is one of the reasons I personally prefer HTC phones).
I bought a One XL last year around the same time, and Google I/O didn't make me regret that decision. Besides, this time I'll have a One XL I can mess around with if I want to install CM11 or something.

Precisely. Personally, I feel HTC is on the brink of a huge change, they've already dropped the source code and the phone hasn't even shipped in US yet! Also, it will definitely help to have the same device across several carriers (Even international ones!)
I feel the winds of change wafting from HTC and I must say, I love it.

I am definitely super-excited that the international and NA versions of the HTC One use the same chipset - that was one of the big issues with the One X and One XL last year.
This phone will get key lime pie without a doubt.
The development will be huge for this device

Not to be the voice of doom or piss in anyone's Cheerios but HTC's in a world of hurt. The shipping delay for the One's cost them dearly financially and now its actual availability is going to bump up against Samsung's gazillion dollar marketing budget for the SGS4. Samsung also co-ops heavily with the U.S. carriers for advertising and provides big sales incentives down to the associate level. And if you walk in to a Best Buy you'll be greeted by Samsung's "Experience" sound and light show while a dummy One sits lonely and tethered to an end-cap somewhere next to a "free" LG Phone. With a Nexus 5 possible at I/O, an iP5s and lower-cost iPhone in June, Motorola's "Phone X," a Note III, and LG's 1080P 5" and 5.5" Optimus Pro Plus' all due by fall, the One's going to get lost in a sea of other devices a few months after launch because of HTC's (now even more) limited promotional budget. They have a tough road to hoe and 2013 will determine their future.
Here's an interesting discussion on HTC's current position from the international One forum...

I have a canon eos 60D. You might consider buying that if you give the camera such importance.

I believe they will, considering this is HTC's flagship phone.
This is an easy one for me. I'll just keep my Nexus 4 around until I/O. If what Google shows at I/O wows me and I can get it on the Nexus 4, I'll consider selling the One, but DAMN, it would have to be some mind blowing software for me to give up such amazing hardware and go back to a slower processor, worse screen, worse camera, worse speaker, cheaper materials, and no LTE.

Got me thinking...
Whole argument is stupid in my opinion. It's clearly cut black and white. If you want immediate updates to current version of android go for a nexus. If you want real hardware get the HTC One. Unless HTC builds a nexus the new one won't be special.
I don't know why people buy carrier subsidized phones then complain when it stays a version behind. The phone company is there to make money. Put on your big boy pants and go nexus or shut up about it. It's really that simple

Think its for the non-removable battery, which is silly, but oh well.
I hate to play the "bias" card, but I think The Verge simply did not want to like the G2. It has its shortcomings, just like any other device (most can be fixed or improved via software updates). But that is why you never put much stock in any single review.

This is pretty much right on. Most known tech blogs have their bias slants...so just choose to read the one that swings the way you want, right? :good:
this device would score better if they were to revisit their reviews in the coming weeks after software updates were pushed to improve the experience, some reviewers do revisit and some dont. If the only impediment to them is the software as with most reviews then I think we can see the real numbers here through context. Minus the software flaws we have a higher score but in a day and age were more manufacturers are paying closer attention to software features its getting harder and harder to make game changing-ground breaking phones. An 8 is certainly a very good score however i score it at an 8.5 with the software flaws. This will be fixed within the next few days when we are Rom'd on all carriers!

Right on. Read the reviewers score on the G2, then look up their same review scores of the GS4, they are clearly all over samsungs sack. Some of the things they say are contradictary to higher rated devices. Its just because ITS LG.

Phone arena gave G2 higher score than S4. And gsm arena was very positive and wishes the G2 gets the attention it deserves.
At this point, all of the mobile tech sites who give the LG G2 a bad review can suck my nuts. Its fine that they will miss out on the LG G2 because they are brainwashed by Apple and Samsung that anything they put out turns into gold. IMO the LG G2 is a gold mine here especially with the battery life and they way LG was able to cram a 5.2 inch display on a 5.0 inch body which I would have imagine would be a high priority for most folks when it comes to smartphones.
Why is everyone so mad at this review? Seems pretty spot on to me. It's not a perfect device, and it definitely shouldn't be getting 10s across the board like everyone seems to think it should.

At least it isn't as bad as a gizmodo "review"...These days If I read a review of anything I'll just stick with anandtech because the other ones are so sensitive and opinionated it starts to piss me off lol.
I'm constantly amazed by what some people get paid to write at tech sites... especially knowing that their audience usually doesn't care about their whining on how it's too big for them, or how much they hate visual elements of the UI. Be a man and write a real objective review.

LG G2
I really don't understand this move by LG (if correct). They are just killing the G2.
According to a believable source, the Nexus 5 is going to have two variants, while the more expensive one ($399) will have 32GB, and, get this, a 3000mah battery !!
http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-57606477-94/nexus-5-16gb-version-reportedly-will-sell-for-$299/
Why, on earth, should anyone prefer the G2 under these circumstances ?
We still have several days to ditch our G2, before it loses its value...
My only question is then, why did LG made such a big issue out of the G2, if two months later they are giving almost same hardware for 60% the price...
I doubt that the 32GB version will have a 3000mAh battery.
The N5 16GB was listed for 350$ earlier today in the PlayStore.

It's a subsidized price from Google, not LG. Google will take hit on every hardware sold and make up for it in the long term from play store purchases. This is how the Console industry has been working, PS3 and Xbox were sold at loss, but profit was made out of software.
32 GB G2 will settle for a price around 500$, price of Nexus 5 will stay the same for the life cycle. Also G2 has a better camera, IR blaster, 3000 mAh Battery is still not confirmed for 32 GB model, it is a rumour.
I would still buy G2 over Nexus 5, because stock android sucks.
If the Nexus 5 is going to have a 3000mah varient, the G2 will never have a developer community. In that case I think we should all switch to the Nexus 5, we'll earn money (if we sell the G2 soon), have normal volume/power buttons, and the best developer community one could imagine. What will we be sacrificing ? 0.2 inch in screen size, and several megapixels in camera ? that really doesn't cut it.

Don't get you.... An old article as a proof to rumors?
As someone above posted the Cheaper one will go for 349 dollars. That means for me 349 euro. (even though our retailers will make 549 from it like they always do....)
Here you can get the LG G2 460 euro. If the more expensive of the N5 will be for min 400 more like 449 euro it will be just few Euro difference.
And we still don't know how it will be. If the USB OTG function will not be working again. Lesser camera. Battery. No radio, too many unknowns.
No matter how much you compare it. Maximum the N5 value will match the G2 at least in my country.
For sure not kill it.

The question is why on earth are you still here and trolling? You only post threads to bash the G2. It's like a G2 murdered your family and now you are all pissed at it. Not every country have the low Google prices, not every carrier will get nexus 5. Please just sell your G2 so we can stop having to deal with your whining.

I would take the G2 instead of the Nexus 5 just for the Knock On feature (and the larger screen comes second). I can't believe how useful that feature is to me. I also use the FM Radio and IR remote every day. I also don't want to wait again for months until the Nexus 5 is in stock, etc. I barely got the Nexus 4 three months after release, first waiting for it to be in stock, then finding a reasonably fast and secure way to import it to my country. No thanks.
As for the software, I won't go back to the stock Android limitations like not being able to set different sound volumes for calls and notifications.
Kit Kat 4.4 will be available for the G2 very soon, probably a few weeks from the Nexus 5 launch. But I just don't care anymore what Android version my phone has. The last few versions have been sufficiently good as to not care which one I am running.
I'm wondering if the Nexus 5 has anything to do with the Sprint G2 being delayed a little? Maybe Google told them to kick the Nexus 5 production into high gear, so they don't have the same shortages as every other device launch in the past?

The original source of the story, phonearena.com has cast doubt on it since the picture was photo shopped and they checked their records on the tipster: (I cannot post links yet, but it was easy to find with Google)
From their article:
UPDATE: After a more extensive research, we believe that these are likely fake. This is not simply because the icons on the Nexus 10 2013 were obviously added later -- this could have been done for illustrative purposes anyway. It's because, after delving deep into our tips database, we concluded that this particular tipster has a track record of sending content of dubious authenticity

I am not saying either is fake, and I am hopeful it is announced/released soon, but phonearena added a caveat to their story, and it is the source all the other's are quoting or copying from. So I remain hopeful but suspect.
I hope it isn't fake, but who knows?

I hope it isn't fake, but who knows?
I do find it really odd that there have been so many Nexus 5 leaks but nothing on the new 10 yet.
The designs leaked so far look superb, and I would definitely be wanting to get one.

I hope the image is fake then there is still a possibility of front facing speakers but I like the specs, if there is an lte version it will be very difficult for me to not get one I don't know what everyone else things of the specs but thats my opinion

Have to agree with you on those two points.
The only things I don't like are the cost and all the Samsung bloatware. Not sure if I'd use the S pen either....

I thought that, until I used it for a week. Now the bloatware is coolware in how S pen integrates with the environment so well.
After using a system that has S Pen, I'm not sure I could work without one.
I used a capacitive stylus with my Nexus 10, and seriously there is NO COMPARISON to S Pen. S Pen has the ability to register the pressure and more, so the ability to the graphic artist is a leap over SIMPLE TOUCH.
Yeah, it's that cool, if you'll use the stylus. Even casual note taking is great.
I think this is the reason Microsoft added it to the Surface 2.
Touch alone is sooo 2009/2010.
I would not get a tablet with such a tiny bezel. I love the Nexus 10's bezel. The rounded sides are also quite nice. I think it's highly underrated.

Seems there is zero leaks or any real info about the N10... I don't think its launching with N5. I think it might release closer to xmas..

I don't think they would release a Nexus device without a major Android update and I don't think they would release updates so close together...but I could be wrong.

Oh.. I think you'll see TWO new Nexus 10 models.
Nexus 10 from Samsung with existing specifications and 64GB.
Nexus 10 from Samsung with 64GB and unlocked sim LTE.
The 16GB will be retired (just like the Nexus 7 8GB edition was). 32GB will be the new low end.
Just like the Nexus 7 line that had the 32GB and 3G/HSPA+ models silently release, the Nexus 10 updates will also be a silent release (no launch party).
But with the changes, you'll see the pricing drop so that the 64GB is close to the same pricing the 32GB is currently.
Launch party will be Nexus 5 and Kitkat 4.4
I have to give my friends Samsung Note 10.1 2014 edition back this week. Based on the experience, the S Pen truly compels, but I'm going to stick with my N10 for a while longer. July 2014 is when you'll likely see the N10 2014 edition.
I thought Asus was making the new Nexus 10.

Are they? Posted on their website yet?
You are reading media hype until it actually ships.
Lets see the proof:
1. Point of sale system shows "ASUS" made N10. Has anyone entering data for stores/warehouses never made a mistake, not once?
2. Leaked Press "render". If I was part of the press, I could photo-chop all sorts of tablets and say it's a render based on educated guesses. Stretch an ASUS N7 and folks looking at it would say, "hey that looks like ASUS!"
Questions:
A. Where are the parts order news items you normally see with the ramp up of a product? Usually there'll be leaks of the back shell, etc.
B. Samsung wouldn't have this as they are not just a parts assembly company, it's all in house for the most part. ASUS would have LDC panel orders, etc. Yet it's oddly quiet.
C. What was Sundar Pichai saying? Sure the head of Chrome and Android teams could be wrong, or his quote was taken out of context by Amir Efrati.
Google has informed us that before the end of the calendar quarter (aka before 2017), Nexus devices and the Pixel C will receive a developer preview for Android 7.1 Nougat. It's unclear which Nexus devices will receive it, but the 6P and 5X definitely will, and the 6 and 9 might.

According to AndroidPolice
http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/1...vices-pixel-c-will-land-end-2016-dev-preview/
Nexus line is dead. This is the nail in the coffin.
No surprise they're not going to release their major Pixel selling point to Nexus devices. But yeah, the Nexus is dead. This menu updated have gone now.
I bought a nexus 2 months ago cause the nexus experience was awesome I want to cry....
Google try to make 7.1 special for Pixel Phone.
XDA will save the Day!
Who knows maybe a port can be done. Let's wait it out.
So disappointed with Google today...

The note 7 is cheaper than the 128gb pixel xl. And pixel xl has like 10 less features. Horrible day for Google today...

Me too but it will stay awesome. We have all the developers on XDA.
Honestly only thing wrong with the Pixel is the price.

The only thing wrong?
REALLY?
I bought a 6P because i like having the latest version of Android and I also develop on it. And because google promised it (which turns out as false advertising, at this point)
What now? Will be only 7.1 delayed or every release? We will see another major upgrade?
By what I saw today, google's intentions are not anymore in the nexus line, so I can't even expect another major version of Android this time around.
Google may haven't lost money, but they surely lost a lot of customers trust. And trust isn't easy to build.
But it seems they couldn't care less.

Couldn't agree more. At this point I'm just convinced that Google is lost. They are trying so hard to re-invent themselves as some kind of Apple/Samsung/Amazon Wannabe that they have screwed everything up. I mean come on, Pixel EXCLUSIVE features? Seriously? Delayed releases for the Nexus Line?
Google you have just lost a customer today. My wife and kids wanted to move away from iPhone, and I was hoping for the Pixel to do so, but there's no way. I'm not even sure where to go now. I hate TouchWiz, I want a phone I can unlock the boot loader on, root, etc. Maybe the LG V20 will turn out better, but it's been MIA now for weeks.
I didn't realize until today how high of standards I hold my 6P too, and how I'll not be able to move away until something truly amazing comes along (and I'm really hung up on having front facing stereo speakers now)

Sd card slot, waterproofing, HDR screen, always on display, front firing speaker, wireless charging, OIS. There's a lot of good useful features the Pixel doesn't have and you could get in a phone cheaper.

Yup. I started android with HTC. Was burned with promised OS updates on the Hero, gave them a second chance and was burned again with promised OS updates on the Evo LTE, jumped to Nexus to avoid having that issue ever again and here I am wondering when we are going to get updates and what "features" are they going to withhold for no reason other than greed.
