fitness trackers? syncing with social aspect - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys i have a question.
does anyone know of any app which allows for syncing with a fitness tracker (much like a fitbit) but also allows for formation of groups for peer evaluation/tracking/encouragement?
it would be a plus too if the app could generate reports which can be shared with others.
any ideas? thanks in advance
edit: sorry i realise this is in the wrong section, any mods can move me to the right one?

[Q] Suggestion for a 'notes' type app on Android

Hello all. I hope I have the right forum for this question. I have recently moved from Iphone to a Galaxy S2. One of the most useful apps on the Iphone for me was the factory supplied 'Notes' app on the iOS platform. What was even better about this was that it syncs with notes on Gmail/google and on more than once this feature has saved my skin as I tend to store a lot of everyday notes on this, so rely on it a lot.
Question is, is there a similar app on Android - preferably free but the most importance feature must be the same ability to sync with Google.
Maybe you try ColorNote or Evernote, both support online sync.

[Q] Android UI Components

I do apologize if this isn't the correct outlet for my question (Seemed more correct for Software Development rather then General Q & A); I'm working on a application for Android. Since the application is web-based; I'd like the application to have it's own Calendar rather then rely on calling the internal Android functions to utilize their calendar. To avoid transferring from my application to the calendar application.
But I'd love to use an Interface that is similar; does anyone know of any great calendar modules that are open-source? or reusable UI schemes for a calendar?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Components
You can find Android components on the Verious Marketplace.
I don't know of any calendar components, but there are basic UI components and open source projects that you can likely use as building blocks for your app.

[Q] Is there a people/friends app or hub for Android!?

I recently made the switch from windows phone 8 to the HTC One and I am really missing the people hub or groups feature of windows phone. It allowed me to put some of my contacts into groups. For example, I had 2 groups, 1 for family and 1 for friends. In these groups, it collected all the facebook, twitter, and other social feeds of those people and put them all together.
I really liked this feature because I could easily look at filtered social feeds for certain people without having to flip through each app separately. I often saw posts/tweets that I would have otherwise missed.
Is there a similar app or feature on Android that would give me this functionality? I have yet to find it.
Thank you!
take a look at Scope or Taptu in the play store, these are some social apps.

I looked at both of those apps and they were both good at combining different social networks into a single feed, however lacked the ability to do exactly what I need.
I want to be able to make a group of my best friends and when I click on that group, I want to see their social updates across Twitter, facebook, etc all together.
If anyone knows of an app that does this...please let me know! Hard to believe windows phone has done this for years and no one has copied it for android

[Q] How Do I Sign In To Themer?

Hey everyone, how do I sign into Themer? On my Galaxy S4 it gives me the option so sign in with Google or Facebook. I have neither. IF I DID HAVE TO CHOOSE BETWEEN THE TWO HOWEVER I would get a Google account just for Themer... but I don't know if that is possible. When I select to sign into Themer with Google, it tells me to choose a Google account when there is none on the device. What do? (derp) Thanks in advance.

Hi there, we'd advise creating a simple Google account. We use this feature generally for security purposes as well as to display unread email count notifications (as the general population now use Gmail as their preferred email account).
Not everyone wants to participate in social media. I find it disappointing that Themer would require I do so, and is a deal-breaker for me.
Without a google account an android device has only half of its functions. I uderstand google+ but a normal google account?

We understand that it's not for everyone, but it's the best way for us help find new users as well as to keep Themer free. We will soon add options to remove this service.

If you don't have a Google account you may as well not be using android. "Google account" does not equal "social media". Without a Google account you can't even use the Play Store.

You're correct. I realized that I had been confusing google+ with my normal google account. My bad here. I had assumed that since it was requesting me to sign in with my google account or facebook that it was social media related. I, in fact, do have a google account and can access the play store - which is how downloaded Themer to try in the first place.
I'd now like to know why it needs me to sign in with either account. How does that help Themer find new users and keep it free? I'm not being an ass here, just trying to learn new things.

To be honest it's mainly for security reasons on our side. If someone breaches our servers, we can link it to a verified account and take action where necessary. In terms of social, when you log in you might have selected the box to receive emails from Themer about new updates and very important events. In this way, people who have uninstalled Themer because of some reason, might find that it now includes something that they've always wanted. Therefore it helps introduce 'new' users and in turn the more users we have the greater chance we have to generate resources (through the sponsored apps in the Smart Categories, which can also be turned off if the user desires).

Hey thanks so much for taking the time to answer this in more detail! It's much appreciated. I'll give it a thorough try now.

Thanks a lot for your help. I was also facing the same problem.
Google account is a deal breaker
Hi,
For me this is a deal breaker.
I can follow your reasoning. But how can you give the same app the rights to read (display) all your text-messages, contacts & location together with a personalized login (be it google or facebook).
I know that American mentality is different in this case than German mentality: but I think it is insane to give access to all of these information at once...
I'm not the only paranoid here (if you think I am) but I know a lot of others (Germans) who think the same.
Sorry of I'm too frank: if you want to reach more Germans with your app, then you need to rethink this log-in dialogue.
btw: yes, you can use Android (CyanogenMod) without any kind of account. Works great

Hi Toggler,
We understand your concern, as we are simply a launcher. However, that isn't really the case. As all of our widgets are built in, we require these permissions to allow the user to view his/her unread SMS/Email/Missed Call counts on the homescreen. We don't store any of the information, we simply display it. We've now actually had to remove the Dialer Widget to reduce the number of permissions required, but we still need a few to improve the user's experience. Once Facebook introduces anonymous login, we'll implement that straight away, however right now we need it for security reasons on our end (in then breaching theme servers).
Hope this helps!

[Q] App to Spy (Monitor) Mobile Phone

Hello everyone.
I want to know Android Apps that are used to track your Kids, Office staff or friends.
I'm looking for an app which has the following features.
- Records All calls and store on Cloud accounts (G Drive/ Dropbox )
- Grabs GPS location (wheather gps is on/off)
- Access to photos recieved or clicked.
- WhatsApp & Fb Messenger chat logs.
- All tracking should be remote via Cloud accounts or some weblink.
I'm not sure about all these features in one app, multiple apps will also work. I have rooted device.
I've doubt that my brother is into wrong line, he might be dealing something illegal. So need to track him down and stop.
PS : If I have posted at wrong place, kindly shift it to correct place. Pls dnt ban me!
I ll be glad to hear replies from you. Looking for some urgent solutions.
Thanks SD!
Idk about an app, I do know family base on Verizon helps you track, but pulling FB messages and texts is super secure and hard for an app to be aloud to do that.

How about no. This is illegal. This is immoral. This kind of discussion won't take place on XDA. Thread closed.
