hello S3 users,
i wanted to know the memory breakdown of Samsung Galaxy S3.. the internal memory is 16GB.. but what is the application memory? the memory which is allotted for applications?
thanks in advance..
With Ice Cream Sandwich the phone's internal memory should not be more divided into two parts as it happened with Gingerbread or previous versions of android, but it should be completely free to better manage the installation of applications and files that we want to have on our telephone. In Galaxy S3, the internal memory is completely free, then if we use the 16, 32 or 64 GB for all installed applications we can do it! : -)

I have one and even I'm not sure! The phone shows all the memory as if it were one partition (which it possibly is) but says it has 11.35 GB total. If the internal memory and application storage are one partition, I'm curious to know where the rest of the memory is being used.

Not sure I completely understand. Are you saying that the internal storage and application storage are shared under ICS? If so, why does the phone underreport the total size? What uses up the remaining ~4GB?

the rest of the 4GB must be used for the preinstalled system apps and android..
what i wanted to know is what is the memory reserved for applications..
@esist: can you install 'app2sd' application and let me know what memory it shows as application memory? it must show the app memory at the bottom of that application
So if you wipe cache and parition when flash a new ROM it will wipe all internal right?
Install "App Cache Cleaner" (Pro version if possible) & that will show you the exact memory allocated for app installation !! (On using the cleaner it will show you the cache to be freed & total internal memory used as well as free) !!
If you come to know the correct answer please let me know as even i am planning to switch over to GS3 from my present GS2 !!

u have got partition problem check with pit & partition
hi guys, my English is not very good, but I will try to ask you a question to help
I have a galaxy s3.
16 GB internal memory, 5 GB partition reserved for the system
There are 11 gb usable space(stored pictures, music and applications).I erased a few pictures from this area.
I have android 4.1.2 software fix for that, but I gave my phone for repair and the new 4.1.2 ROM has been installed.
and then I did completely fill the usable space(11gb)
and I'll ask you a few questions to help
1)I hope my pictures which deleted maybe can be free(such as /cache) area in 5 gb(can not be used)
Is it possible that something?
2)Does the software(android) is always installed same memory partition?what is pit file? and emmc chip?
3)ıf ı do root ,how much memory ı can scan?(11 or 16 gb)
4)if ı will scan diskdigger after doing root,How much memory scans(11 gb or 16 gb)?
5)İs data recoverable after have make wipe data /factory reset and wipe cache partition?
6)What installed 5 GB area can not be used ?I think OS does not take up that much space. Is there a free space in this area(5gb)?
I think 3rd party data recovery software can not recover one times overwritten data?(RECUVA,ANDROİD DATA RECOVER)
Is it true that?
7)CAN I RECOVER MY VİDEO AND PİCTURE ?
Thank you in advance to everyone who helped
Search and read for the hundreds of other posts, you can dump the entire partition to your pc and then use software to scan.
Your files are almost certainly gone, I've not heard a single person who got anything back.
I checked it. Are not same status
Help please
I have been having a major problem with my Samsung Galaxy S3 phone. The internal memory of the phone should be 11.35GB (even though it should be 16, but I know how these stuff actually work), The internal memory keeps being filled with nothing.
As you can see the total space is 11.35 GB and if you count the applications (7GB), pictures & videos (5MB) and miscellaneous/Download files (15MB), they constitute no more than 8GB, which means that there should be no less than 3 GB left as available in the phone's internal memory, but as you can see I have got 479MB available. How did that happen?
I Already tried Format Data but still same thing happen memory keeps decreasing 50-100MB. I have rebooted the system yesterday when the internal memory was completely full, Clean system cache and dalvik. And I have a feeling that by tomorrow I will get the memory completely full without downloading or adding anything on the phone.
Please help me.

Hi guys. I have a mtk6592 octacore phone (Timmy M7) with 8 gb rom and 1,2 gb available for apps. Before a week I made a successful attempt with ebr tweak tool and flashed new ebr files with a 2,5 gb internal space . After that ι made a format the second partiotion from the phone. Everything was good until I made a copy an app to the phone memory (the second partiotion-phone storage). The phone spoiled, dozens of apps began το close and ι had to flashıng my backup . This situation has took 3 or 4 times and now I have a fully working phone with a very small internal storage.
CAN U HELP ME ? ANY IDEAS ? What was my fault and what can i do for a big internal ?
SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH.
