Edit User Dictionary - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
Im facing a strange issue. There are words in the default samsung keyboard that i want to delete forever.
I have tried long pressing the particular word when it shows in suggestions while typing, over the keyboard. It says delete? I tap yes. But still the same word is suggested the next time.
I have googled but the option of manually deleting the words from user dictionary is not found. Can any body suggest a solution.?

[Q] Delete Vlingo

Does anyone know how to uninstall/delete Vlingo without using adb?
Or at least change its configuration so it doesnt open when I press 2 times "home"...
Greetings.

Looking at your signature, you are rooted yes?
If so, do you have titanium backup? if so, then you can choose to either freeze or delete vlingo(freezing is the safest option, in case you decide you may want to use the app, or just in case).
You can also use root explorer to delete vlingo.

I had the same problem, bothered me to death; Solution above is the only solution I've found so far. One thing I've noticed though since freezing Vlingo: Now it just sometimes does literally nothing when I press my home button (probably when I use my home button twice with almost no pause between)
(btw: U gotta look for "Speech", "Sprache", "Voice" or something like that, in your language)
Thank you both for answering! I had tried both solutions but didnt find Vlingo to delete, so specially thanks to kaassema for

Because it sometimes starts on accident, for example when pressing the home-button twice fast, when all you wanted was twice the action of a one-button-press...
...or for clarification: I really have no use for Vlingo, nor intention to start it, yet I have seen it's interface at least 35 times already... By accident! Thus disabled it

You can disable Vlingo quite easiily on the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Settings>Language and Keyboard>Samsung keypad>Voice Input
Untick the box and the double click on home no longer brings up Vlingo.

What if I'm using Swype keys?
Seems your suggestion didn't work.
{i'm assuming the settings is overriding global setting}
JohnN6. That does actually not work. Even if you do that, disable the processes and swipe the data for Vlingo, it will always start, with Eula questions and everything, every time you either double-tap home, or more itrritatingly, if you hit your headset button to try and bring up any preferred installed dialer. The latest three software-updates for the S2 has been like this. And to add insult to injury, Vlingo has actually no hope of working for a Swede like me. Even if I tried to voice-dial a Swedish friend, by idiotically trying to pronounce the swedish names in English, it has almost zero chance to do a correct detection.
This software just has to be able to be disabled again (like the first Software version my S2 came delivered with). I am seriously thinking of just throwing the phone and get something else over this issue. Having to touch the phone to dial anyone is in my occupation often putting me in life-threatening situations. So it is really, really bad all of this...
@ SDPlus: I had the same problem and solved it. Using Titanium Backup free version on a rooted SGS2, it was easy (all english commands are translated from German, so could be not perfect):
First I entered Titanium, "Backup & Restore", and searched for "Vlingo". As a result there came "Sprachsuche", which is German for voice search. Pointing on it long enough brought up a menu, where I could choose "backup", and after that I clicked in the same menu on "force to stop". Then I clicked on "uninstall", and off it went.
Since I have a better app for voice dial (cyberon), Vlingo was pain. Now Cyberon works as expected.
Reasons for getting rid of Vlingo (someone asked): 1. I don't want to accept their terrible terms, where I allow to collect data about everything I do , whom I call, when, whatever. Disagreeing ends up in a not working voice-dial, even if you have a paid app for that installed. That is kidnapping. 2. It does not work good enough for me. 3. If I want to be binded to a software, I would have decided to buy an IPhone.
tnx it fixed my problem too
PS: In dutch/flemish it's called "spraakopdrachten".
If you freeze it with Titanium backup the double press doesn't work anymore.
You da man, thanks much for the info.....worked perfetly!!!
I want to take the subject and would like to know if you have any good replacement for the Vlingo app?
And if it have Portuguese language!?
Thanks!

Very annoying
Anyone have a fix to stop Vlingo poping up all the time? Even if I dont double press the home key it comes up. Very annoying. I dont have my phone rooted either.
The best way which i did last week
I ROOTED my Galaxy s2
Installed titanium tool and I freeze the voice command
Never again I got the voice command pop up
For those who already seeking for a salvation:
Get your phone rooted, instally Titanium Backup (even free version).
When you in Titanium Backup press menu and hit Filters, enter Vlingo, Accept. And then Go to Batch operations scroll down to Freeze apps and there you will only see Vlingo sh.t in your language just hit the Run button and you are now FREE FROM VLINGO.

Confirmed, it works.
use go launcher
Install Go Launcher.
Open the app drawer
Click the dots and then App Manager
Click the trash can next to Voice Command.
Click OK.
Not rooted. Ics 4.0.3
I never accepted the eula after ics update. Don't think that matters. No more vlingo ! Swype still fully functional.

Opera mobile browser... can't find anything that this browser can't handle

I tried this browser a while back and it was very buggy, uploading data to Craigslist or pictures to otther forums was a no go. Text input was a mess, and the overall experience was just buggy.
I have to say that sine the latest update (whenever that was... I seemed to have missed it) this browser can take anything I throw at it.
It seems faster than dolphin for pad which was my daily driver until I realized all of these bugs had been addressed. The graphics and speed are spectacular IMO and I honestly can't find any glitches.
Anyone else notice how awesome this opera moblie is now?

point it to espn 3 and watch a stream, it'll crash. stock browser will crash too.
i am on vanilla 3.1 HC with no TW .
there is no HA on flash videos, other than that it is perfect..
Just did. Watched 3 different streams without crashing. A little slow but nothing too bad. Once started it streamed just fine.
Latest touchwiz ' latest opera

The most annoying bug Opera Mobile has (or used to have, havn't used it in a while), has to do with text input fields like the "quick reply" box I'm just typing in. It loses all the text when unselecting the input field the first time and also when clicking on something like "post reply" or "advanced/preview".
You need to select the field, unselect it and select it again before you can start typing. The second time I lost a lengthy reply to that bug because I forgot to do so I stopped using Opera Mobile.
I like Opera Mobile but the market says the last update was june 30, so no update for quite some time. Is this bug really gone?

I had that too, but there is a quick fix for it. Set the zoom rate from 125% or so it is now to 100%. No more disapearing text.
Yes.. That's fixed.

[Q] LG P500 user dictionary disappears oftenly

Hi, everyone. First post here.
I have a LG P500, Android 2.3.3, and I use the user dictionary frequently.
But, I don't know why, the list of words that I register, at least monthly disappears. It's all cleaned and all words disappears, and I have to start all over again.
I tested softwares to manage user dictionary, like User Dictionaty Manager and another one that promised to backup the dictionary, but none have worked at all.
Does anyone know if there is a bug, or know how to solve this?
Thank you very much.

Is your dictionary app stored on the SD card? If so, move it to the phone memory.

Both keyboards are in phone. Actually there isn't an option to move them to SD card.
And the User dictionary is in the phone too.
Thats a problem with your firmware
Try a hard reset.

What is up with the Copy/Paste menu? And default browser issues

I like the default browser but whats the deal with the copy/paste function? You know how you hold your finger on a spot in a text space and that little popup menu with tbe copy paste functions come up? For some reason it isn't working in the dumb mobile facebook inbox messages. I copied a link and was going to paste it into a reply I was writing but that dumb menu won't come up for nothing. Nothing happens. Thats the only text box it wont work in. So... I go to the full version Facebook site (which is zippy btw). Try the inbox there.... I load a message and suddenly it's like THE FORCE is affecting the screen. On full FB inbox message screen, it's like the screen keeps trying to move to the left, and it resists all attempts from you to straighten it to center.. Am i sounding weird or does this make any sense at all?
If you happen to use Swype, you can Swype from the "Swype key" to the letter "v" for pasting what's on your copy clipboard
I've had the same issue with the page constantly moving and not allowing entire sections to be viewed. It seems like it has something to do with the browser trying to format the text for mobile. Usually using Dolphin or another browser and/or turning mobile view off helps.
Whatever the name of the default browser is, mobile mode is off. I have tried Facebook in Opera Mobile. And in Opera on full FB inbox, the same problem happens inside the messages. The screen keeps moving to the left. It only does it inside messages on full version Facebook. Dolphin browser seems to use a ginormous amount of RAM just for small pages. It used over 118mb on google once.. Idk why so much memory usage. The computer never uses that much unless its tons of flash ads and java. Hmm
Is there a shortcut to access copy/paste like ctrl+v? No ctrl key. And I don't use Swype. Thanks for the help.

Typing words, hit space bar, words disappear

I kinda feel dumb cuz I don't know if its actually something in predictive text settings I'm just missing or what. The problem is when I'm typing something in, primarily notice it in browser searching, I'll type words, then space bar, then word, space bar, etc etc. However, about 50% of the time, when I hit the space bar, it just deletes out the word I just typed and inserts another space. Last night I was trying to search "Galaxy S3 tips and tricks" and the whole thing came out "Galaxy S3[space][space][space]. WTF is going on here? Are others experiencing this at all? Its soooooo annoying.
FYI, it doesn't do it at all when typing out text messages so I'm wondering if it is something to do with browser or what. I tried clearing Samsung Keyboard cache and data and it worked for a bit, then started doing it again.
I think its definately keyboard related cuz if I switch and use a different keyboard, the issues disappear

I signed up for the beta on the Swype website, but a little confused as to how to really get my hands on the beta. Am I waiting for something to show up in my in-box or am I missing a link somewhere?
I believe you have to wait until the folks at Swype send you an email inviting you to the beta. IIRC it took about three days for mine to arrive when I signed up a year or so ago.
This and the copy paste issue is driving me nuts. How can they have such buggery on the shelves? I won't post off topic (not that I could copy/paste the link to that thread here anyway).
So my only option is beta, some pokey free or costly 3rd party keyboard app? Google tells me that, as these keyboards require internet access, I'm at risk of key logging activity due to the combination of permissions they require.
