Thanks, was waiting for them to post 6P teardown. Mostly interested in battery replacement down the road.
Looks harder than 5X for sure.
Repairability score of 2? woah replacing the screen is gonna be a pain if it breaks.
Atleast the battery can be replaced with some paitience, hate to see that the visor must be pried open as well.

Woww 2...
My main concern is replacing the battery so the only real challenge here is getting the visor off without cracking it... apply some heat gun magic to soften the glue? I've never cracked a screen yet *knocks on wood* so hopefully that remains a non-issue.
Well that sucks. When putting it back together, what adhesive would you use to re-attach the bottom piece and the visor?

Yeah totally. Looks like the hardware for dual SIM is still there even though the SIM card tray only has one slot... I'm sure someone's going to figure out how to use that eventually. Will probably need a modified SIM tray and some software tweaks.

Second slot was open on a leaked video from Russia before release IIRC. The ones I've seen (USA) have a plastic bar that runs through the inner "holder" part. Wonder if it's going to be as simple as cutting it or maybe they removed the "tray" that sim card actually sits in. Call to arms for someone to take some detailed tray pictures now
should it be as simple as putting "anyone's" activated SIM in the second tray, and then you've got two numbers on your phone? how does Android handle multiple SIMs? do we know? does it set up multiple profiles? i think someone should find out.

I need to be able to use my One X+ SIM in my older phones from time to time but I need an adapter. I've seen them on Amazon but people have mixed results so I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience (good or bad) with them.
Thanks.

I use the same one to put the sim in my GNEX. It works just fine.
Excellent, thanks!
I finally got the SIM adapter suggested here but my SIM was a little too big for it. I used a fingernail trimmer and nail file to chip away at the SIM but I wound up making it a little too small for the One X+ SIM holder now so I need to use a little piece of scotch tape under it. A little cumbersome overall but it does work. Better than nothing and at $1.05 including shipping, I certainly can't complain.
I just made my own by taking an old sim card and cutting out the micro sim shape out of it. Then, rounding out as needed for the microsim to fit. Easy fix.
I had problems extracting the adapter from old telephones, sometimes it can get stuck!

just trace around the little sim on a bigger one/old ones and cut the space out with a box knife and put little one inside big one and sitck in phone works great i switch to my old inspire from my one x + all the time and it works great
just watch out for phones that dont have solid piece behind the sim tray ive heard of people losing their little sim inside there phone tot that you cant take it apart but some people are dumb just tape it to the big one if needed
Yup, the iCoolkit works great!
Just a couple quick questions, sorry if they've been answered or seem redundant
How is the build quality?
Does it feel solid in the hand, or cheap?
Is the back textured or smooth? (please say textured I'm so tired of smooth finger print magnets)
Anyone using this on Simple Mobile? If yes, was it just a matter of popping in the SM sim and it worked?
I had planned on upgrading from my Mytouch 4G I've got running on Simple. All the JB roms I throw at it have issues, and it's just really starting too feel like a dated phone and I'm tired of messing with it and want something rather inexpensive yet has decent features. I feel like with the $200 price tag, and it being off contract this might be the new hot phone people jump on. Could be wrong tho. Thoughts?

I broke down and bought one tonight. I went to the Tmo store first, their display model didn't offer much to be desired. It was a dummy unit, and it was all beat to hell and didn't even feel nice at all. Decided to go to Best Buy and see if they had one on display, nope. Oh well, took the plunge anyhow (not like I couldn't return it ). Glad I did. The phone really does feel nice. Back is nicely textured which I like. Phone is on the light side, which is something I'm sure I'll get used too. Build quality is decent.

I have it working on Simple Mobile. You know that Simple Mobile uses T-mobile cell towers so all Simple Mobile sim cards will work on all Tmobile phones. All you have to do is pop the sim card in and it works.
However, this phone uses a micro sim card. What I did was I had to cut my Simple Mobile sim card with a scissor so it would fit into this phone. Since this is a prepaid T-mobile, there is a T-mobile micro sim card that come in the box with the phone. So what I did was uses the T-mobile micro sim as a reference and then cut my Simple Mobile sim card. Just got to be careful and cut a small piece off at a time and measure it against the real micro sim card.
Or you can go to a cell phone kiosk at the mall and they will cut your sim into a micro sim card.

Ive returned dead HTC Ones that wouldnt even turn on, so they couldnt get the imei. They have your IMEI number on file and will not deny warranty because you peeled the sticker off. Its of the poorest quality and was never meant to stay on. It will be unreadable after even light use. It will curl up and come off.

That's cool for you dude. I never said they'd you warranty for peeling the sticker off. But there are times you're IMEI is needed for troubleshooting. They don't keep that info stored on file for you, or else CS would never ask for it like say..when you request a SIM unlock. If you peel it off, that's your prerogative. Again, if you have a cover on your phone, it really won't matter, now will it?. It's ugly, yes. They could have made it clear. But it does serve a very important purpose.
Anyways, I didn't know a sticker needed to be of utmost quality. It's a sticker for crying out loud. What do you expect? It to be etched in gold?
You can also see your imei number in settings, about phone. Sticker is unnecessary. Remove at will. Bootloader also contains the sticker info.

What about the fact that it's engraved into the sim tray? Or are you concerned about the scenario that you need to call for support and your phone won't power on and they have no record of your IMEI and your sim tray is missing? I'm sure that happens a lot.

Now the engraved in the Sim Tray bit I did not know. No need to be snarky. Don't get pissed cause I made a valid argument. The sticker is there for a reason and not everyone thinks to keep their packaging. Hell I'd plan on throwing mine away like i always do but this stuff actually comes with defective device stickers and such so I guess it is worth keeping. For now. I'm not saying don't take it off. I'm not saying you'll get penalized. Hell this is the first phone iIve ever had that doesn't allow for battery removal. I just came from the LG Mytouch, and before that the HTC MyTouch and G1. You know, the original Android phones to hit the market ( the latter 2). Jesus,

Those of us with rooted Evita devices with s-off might disagree.
Mine never came with a sticker on the back.
Guys I seriously doubt they put that sticker there expecting people would keep it on. If it was a required thing for warranty or whatnot they probably would have put it towards the bottom on the phone so it didn't stick out like a sore thumb like it does now. It's safe to remove. Like others have said it's in other places and even has an extra sticker in the box that states it's for warranty purposes

That's the piece! However if it's attached to the bezel shouldn't the white screen/LCD already have it in place?
center part
Some places call it a Midframe, other places call it a Bezel , if you want your DNA to be completely white you will need this. The part above the speaker is attached to the midframe housing. Also, look at your phone, inbetween the Glass and the Back cover the Bezel shows thru. If you do not get this, in between the back cover and the glass will be black.

I'll give it a go. Whenever I take something apart I tend to take photos of the details to give it the best chance of going back together.
Looking for the best place to order the parts. I'll be ordering this weekend, hopefully, then 14 days from China more than likely.

I can't wait to see your results. I'm a bit afraid to pry open this phone as it's so well held together and without the glue / gaskets I fear I'll never quite get it back together the same. DNAs are pretty rare out there, and white DNA would be awesome.
Ya I don't think HTC can even repair this phone properly. I've had two replacements now and they are refurbs as Verizon is cheap. As I press around the sides and the back the phone crackles a bit, as if popping something into place. This never stops though. Kinda irritating, at least for me.

Money Is being a PITA this month and I wanted to try to get all the parts from one retailer, (Spoiler: Nope).
Also been trying to find a white screen and frame assembly, (Spoiler: Nope).
These sellers are also HORRIBLE at answering email. The only one I found who was helpful, before I knew, white was doable, only sells the black screen.
I'll get the tutorial up but it's just taking time. After taking some incredibly awesome photos with the DNA recently and with 4.3 coming I don't see a need to change devices.

besides Dev support the Note2 had nothing better than the DNA. My wife has one, I used it a week before sending it back for replacement. The screen isn't as sharp. The Exynos is slower, the camera isn't as good.

Well the simcard is not being recognized but I think it's hardware since it supposed to let you take the sim card out via the "spring" motion but it just grabs it without letting me eject it. Otherwise it's fine but really useless outside of the house since I can only do wifi to use it as Bluetooth is not usable to tether to the phone to use it.
How did you put the SIM inside? Notch towards the unit, with chip face up to the screen?

followed the directions online. there is a video of the process. there is just no spring action. in that type of sim insert configuration there should be a way for it to come out when pressing. some phones i have seen that on. i guess there is nobody here from Omate to assist. i have emailed and no response.

See how his sim card pops out and has the springy action mine just goes in with no spring hence i think it's a hardware issue.

Oh ok. I didn't have a user manual included when i purchased it. I got the watch in the original cased box with the pillow and the card signed by the CEO as well as the extra battery and screws. I can provide whatever you need as far as proof but I asked the original owner and he advised me he never put a sim in it. I also notice on the lower left corner there is lite leaking from under the sapphire glass.
If I have no hope of achieving any support for the device since I am not the original "kickstarter" backer then I will just sell it since I paid more then the bought it for sure.
thanks again for your quick reply Kuronosan

In that video, the sim is never shown correctly inserted into the TrueSmart. If it springs back out any, it was not pushed in far enough to latch. When fully inserted and latched, no part of the sim chip is still visible outside the slot. To get it out, push it even further in with a tool or fingernail and it will pop out to the point where is shown in Kurt's video and then can be tweezed or scraped out.
Having the sim inserted partially like in the video might work for some TrueSmarts, but it did not for mine. Once I got past that on my watch, my T-Mobile sim started functioning immediately and continued to do so without any issues.

I am sorry yours does not work right. I had hoped I could help since I had been a little misled myself, initially,by the video you linked to.
I got no similar light leaking, though there was a report with a photo of someone else who did, on the Omate forum that is now down I think. There was some speculation that such a light leakage might indicate that individual watch was not likely even vaguely water-resistant.
My only issue on my 1/8/1900 DevEd Nov watch is that it runs at a maximum of 1gHz instead of 1.3gHz. I have resisted testing the water-resistance and have not opened the back yet. I would like it to run at full rated speed, but have not initiated a warranty claim yet because I feel like the Omate folks do not yet have the resources to respond. I suspect that a lot of the watches in the early Feb USA shipment are running at 1gHz max.

Well i tried again this morning and still nothing. I think it's a hardware issue but my guess is that I am SOL as the only response i got today was an email with a PDF of the users guide. Money down the drain ..
Mike
You will need to take it apart. Kurt has a video of how to do maintenance.

Well i followed the steps so i can take my sim card out otherwise I would not be able to use my regular phone. The matter is still the issue with the sim card not working and now the lite leakage. Why is there no response from the company that is manufacturing these devices.
If someone tells me listen you were not the original backer so we can't assist you I will forget about contacting them anymore and would just write this off as a loss. It's a shame as it's a really nice device and I spent over $250 for it so it sucks that I am at a loss.
thanks,
Mike

They get hundreds of emails a day. With as small as their staff is, it's two maybe three people having to answer those emails, label and ship units as well as other duties.
As a point of comparison , when I worked as a warranty certified tech for Acer, it took 8-12hrs of sitting on hold just to get them to answer a phone call.
Question, does your SIM look like this when installed;
Orientation
Insertion
Installed
